CHAPTER 2:
Back in LA, Jade, Cat and Robbie met at their usual table in the food court.
"I'm going to be so bored this Halloween." Cat groaned as she scrolled through her Pinterest board for ideas.
"I thought you and Sam had plans," Jade said, taking a sip of her smoothie.
"I know. But Sam made plans with her twin," Cat answered, disappointed. "I guess Robbs and I aren't doing anything this week. What about you, Jade?"
"Even though I dress like it's Halloween everyday, I don't really have anything planned," Jade remarked. "Though I did think of scaring little children when they come to the door to trick-or-treat."
"Jade!" Cat exclaimed. "That's a horrible thing to do."
"What can I say? My mind works in different ways," Jade shrugged.
Just then, Beck joined them at the table after working a two-hour shift at the mall. "Hey guys."
"Hey babe," Jade said, giving him a small kiss. "How's work?"
"Going good." Beck sighed. "Had a lot of customers today. What are you guys up to?"
"Nothing honestly. I'm bored silly," Jade said.
Cat got a ping notification. "Oh, my god!" she squealed as she straightened herself up in her chair. "Tori posted on her new TwitFlash account about an open Halloween costume party in New York! Now you all know how she moved in with Andre? They're gonna have the Halloween Party in their apartment… Guys, what if we all go?" Cat asked with pleading eyes.
"What? All the way to New York?" Jade asked hesitantly.
"Yes!" Cat muttered. "I've always wanted to go there. And seeing Tori and Andre again would be SO good!"
"That'll definitely feel like a housewarming," Robbie added.
Jade turned to Beck for his decision. "I'm up for the travel," he admitted. "It'd be good to get out of LA for a while."
"Are you sure?" Jade asked him. "What about work?"
"I can make up some excuse," Beck said easily. "I'm only there to mind the coffee counter after all; somebody else can fill in. So count me in. Jade?"
Jade sat there silently for a minute or two. "Fine," she grumbled, giving in. "I'll go. But only because I want to."
"Yay!" Cat said happily. "We should tell Leah. She'll be over the moon…I mean, it's a Friday, but I'm sure we can work something out."
"Val will probably want to come too. But then there's the question of whether our mom would allow her to or not," Jade said.
"Yeah, you'd have to talk to your mom about that," Cat said. "We'll have to tell Tori's parents about this too. They'll probably want to go."
"Cat, did you say that it was a costume party?" Robbie asked. Cat glanced back at Tori's tweet and nodded. "Well, we need to pick out what costumes to wear."
"It says here that Tori's going as Dorothy," Cat pointed out. "How about you guys let me pick your costumes and design them? Please!"
"Sure," Jade said with a shrug. "But you'd better not make me anything pink, glittery, or happy."
"Yeah, sure. I don't think pink is really your color," Cat said with a smile.
Cat updated her status on TheSlap which read: "Costume time! #Halloween - MOOD = Creative".
