Chapter 19

We flew (or in Ash's case walked) down the stairs. I decided to stay as a Latios since I didn't really trust the stairs.

After a few minutes, I noticed a few pillars in the distance. Further looking I saw that they were the same ones that Cyrus had shown us earlier.

Ash stopped walking just as I could make out the outlines of a few people.

"Latios, could you fly over there and use sight-sharing with Latias?" asked Ash.

Latios nodded. "Ready sis?"

"Yep!" Latias locked eyes with Latios as their eyes began to glow. Latios turned invisible and flew towards the pillars. After a few seconds, my vision faded and was replaced by what Latios was seeing.

As Latios got closer to the Pillars, I noticed the triangle from earlier. Arceus' plates surrounded the triangle and the three corners of the triangle each had a Pokemon on it. Each of them looked similar except for their colors. One was yellow, one pink, and the other white. They each had two tails with red gems on the ends and a red gem on their foreheads. I noticed that there was also another red gem on their foreheads that looked like it didn't belong there.

"The Lake Guardians," I heard Latios whisper.

Just then Cyrus stepped forward and placed two orbs on two pedestals in the center of the triangle. The orbs glowed with a strange light as they were placed.

"Now, Azelf, Mesprit, Uxie," said Cyrus, "obey my command and summon Dialga and Palkia!"

I watched as the 'fake' gems on Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie's heads glowed. Each of them gave off a light of their respective color that pulsed toward the center of the triangle. I noticed that the gems were putting some kind of force on them, allowing Cyrus to control the Lake Guardians.

"Ash, we have to stop this now!" said Latios, "I'm cutting the sight-sharing, hurry and come before it's too late!"

My vision returned to normal as Latios finished speaking and I lowered my back so Ash could get on.

"Thanks, Michael," said Ash, "can you turn us invisible for now?"

"Should I turn invisible too?" asked Latias.

"Yeah," said Ash, "I'll let you and Latios know what to do."

I nodded and Latias and I turned invisible and flew over to the pillars.

"I'm pretty sure those gems on their foreheads are controlling them," said Latios once we reached him, "if we can destroy those, it should stop Cyrus,"

Ash nodded. "Michael, Latios, Latias, go and destroy the gems, I'll deal with Cyrus."

I nodded and let Ash off my back. I heard Ash yell something at Cyrus as I flew toward the Lake Guardians.

"Michael!" I turned to face Latios.

"What is it?"

"Latias and I are getting Mesprit and Uxie, so you need to get Azelf," said Latios, "sound good?"

"Um, which one is Azelf?" I asked, not wanting to pick the wrong one.

"Azelf is the blue one," said Latios before flying off.

I nodded and flew over to Azelf. As I got closer I felt the energy growing stronger. I reached Azelf, wondering how to destroy the gem without hurting the Pokemon.

I felt another burst of energy from behind me. I sighed, it was all or nothing. I got my claw ready and closed my eyes as I used Dragon Claw. I opened them as I heard a shattering sound and saw that the gem controlling Azelf had been split into tiny pieces. A moment later, I heard two other shattering sounds, which I assumed were from Latios and Latias.

I felt the energy die away as Azelf fell to the ground. I quickly caught the Willpower Pokemon as I didn't want it to get hurt.

"Nice work Michael!" said Latios, flying up to me. "I was able to free Uxie and Latias freed Mesprit,"

I sighed, relieved that the conflict had died down. "So, what do we do now?" I asked.

"I'll go help Ash deal with Team Galactic," said Latios. He set Uxie down on the 'ground'. "you and Latias try to help the Lake Guardians,"

"Don't worry about us bro, we've got it!" said Latias.

Latios nodded and, after giving me a confident smile, flew off.

Latias set Mesprit down and I did the same with Azelf.

"Alright," said Latias, turning to me. "ready to learn Heal Pulse?"

"I hope so," I replied, hoping I wouldn't mess up.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine," said Latias, "just watch me," She held her claws in front of Mesprit and closed her eyes. After a second, her claws started glowing with a greenish light that wrapped around Mesprit.

I watched in amazement as the light made all the scratches and bruises disappear. 'But why didn't Nurse Joy just have Chansey do that for my injury?' I thought.

"Heal Pulse only works for minor injuries," said Latias, apparently reading my mind. "It's nice to have, but in a real emergency, it can only keep the injury from getting worse until a Nurse Joy or an experienced Pokemon can come," Her Heal Pulse stopped as the last of Mesprit's injuries faded. Latias gave me a smile. "Now you try,"

I sighed and copied Latias' position, putting my claws in front of Azelf. I closed my eyes and concentrated. At first, I didn't know what to focus on, but somehow, just like before, I knew I could do it. After what seemed like ages, I felt something coming from my claws.

I cautiously opened my eyes. Sure enough, the same green light Latias had used was emanating from my claws, healing Azelf's injuries. Once Azelf was fully healed, the move stopped as if it knew it had done its job.

Latias stared at me in shock. "How did you do that?"

I tilted my head, confused. "I just did what you told me to,"

"Well, I guess I helped out a little," said a feminine voice, giggling.

I turned to see Azelf levitating off the ground, smiling at me. "You helped me?" I said, "But how? You were unconscious,"

"I wasn't unconscious," said Azelf, "just too exhausted to move. Besides, helping you was easy, you had it in you the whole time, you just needed a little boost of willpower!"

"What do you mean?" I asked, still confused.

"Oh, I guess I forgot to introduce myself," said Azelf, "I'm Azelf, the Willpower Pokemon." she held out a hand to me, "You must be Ash's Pokemon, Michael,"

I shook her hand a bit awkwardly since I wasn't used to doing so with my claw. "Yeah, that's me,"

She giggled. "Nice to meet you!"

"Hang on," said Latias, "if you're up, then why isn't Mesprit up yet?"

Azelf shrugged. "Well I am the Willpower Pokemon so I was able to resist that horrid gem a bit more than my sisters. If you already healed them though, they should be up any minute,"

Latias quickly flew over to Uxie. "Sorry, I forgot about Uxie," she apologized, using another Heal Pulse on the final Lake Guardian.

"So Michael, how do you like being with a trainer?" asked Azelf.

I hesitated for a moment, not expecting the question. "It's been pretty fun so far," I replied, "Ash is a great trainer, but he doesn't make it easy,"

"I wouldn't expect it to be easy," said Azelf, "you don't get stronger just by playing around,"

I nodded. "Yeah, Ash makes it really fun, he even tries to train with us,"

Azelf giggled. "You're really lucky you know,"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You have a really good trainer who does his best for you and friends who care about you," said Azelf, "not many Pokemon have either and even fewer have both,"

"Pikachu said there were lots of bad trainers," I said, remembering the mouse's comment.

Azelf nodded. "There are, and some of them do things evil they completely mess up their lives and the lives of those around them. You can see for yourself what evil people can do," she said.

"At least it's over now," I said.

"I don't know," said Azelf, "something tells me we aren't done here yet,"

I was about to ask what she meant, but we were interrupted by Ash's voice.

"Michael, Latias, we need your help! Arceus' plates are acting up!"
