Chapter 23

With Ash and his Pokemon (3rd person P.O.V.)

"Do you think Michael will be okay?" said Ash to no one in particular.

"He's alive," said Mesprit, "but I'm afraid there's no way to tell where he is,"

"So, we might not see him again?" asked Latias, looking very worried.

Uxie sighed. "If I knew how to get to him I would tell you, but the only way to find out what is on the other side of the portal would be to go through it,"

"At least everything else seems back to normal," said Pikachu, "but what should we do with them?"

"We should probably take them to Officer Jenny," said Ash.

"That's strange," said Latios, "I don't see Cyrus anywhere,"

"He isn't?" asked Ash, "Are you sure?"

Latios nodded.

Pikachu gulped. "I think I know where he is,"

"Where?" asked Ash.

"Well, I was busy battling Team Galactic, so I'm not completely sure but I thought I saw Cyrus heading for the portal..."

Latias shifted nervously. "Does that mean..."

"Cyrus went through?" finished Azelf. She sighed. "I'm afraid so,"

"What does that mean?" asked Ash.

"It means," said Uxie, "we might not be done yet,"

With Michael... (Michael's P.O.V.)

"Dang, you've been through a lot," said David after I had finished my story.

I nodded. "It was worth it, though. Watch this!" I changed into my Lati form and concentrated on David's bed. My eyes glowed as I used Psychic, and the bed was made within seconds.

"Wow, you've gotten pretty good," said David.

My dad nodded. "I never thought I would see something like that outside of a magic show,"

"I'm so proud of you Michael," said my mom, reaching out to hug me.

My dad and David also joined in the hug which lasted for at least a minute before I remembered something.

'Wait a minute, how am I supposed to get back?' I thought, remembering I had left my friends without them knowing where I went.

"Are you okay Michael?" asked David after we had finished our hug. "You seem a bit worried,"

"I'm just worried about my friends," I said, "I don't think they know where I am,"

"Isn't there a way for you to return?" asked my dad.

I shook my head. "The portal disappeared the moment I went through it, and I don't know any other way,"

"There's got to be a way though," said David, "after that missile hit you, you must have gotten to the Pokemon world somehow,"

"That's right," I said, not having thought of that before.

"But how would we find it?" asked my mom, "If David is right, then it's somewhere in the ocean,"

"I know," I said, "but there's no other choice, I have to try,"

"Why don't you go tomorrow then?" asked my dad, "It's pretty late already, and you might not be able to see much in the dark,"

I nodded, he was right and I was pretty tired anyway. "Where should I sleep?" I asked, remembering my room was still pretty much useless.

"You can use my bed if you want," said David.

"No, it's fine, I can just sleep on the ground," I said.

"You sure?" asked David, "that doesn't sound very comfortable,"

"Don't worry," I said, "when I was with Ash, we usually just slept in tents when there wasn't a Pokemon Center,"

With Ash (3rd person P.O.V.)

"What should we do?" asked Latias.

"Let's get rid of Team Galactic first," said Ash, "then we'll see what we can do,"

"Latias and I can help carry them," Latios offered, using Psychic to pick a few of them up.

"Hold on a second, I'm trying to think of something," said Ash. He closed his eyes for a few moments.

"Don't worry," Latias told Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie, "he just does that when he's deep in thought,"

"As long as he doesn't fall asleep," Pikachu chuckled.

As if on cue, Ash suddenly opened his eyes. "Alright, I have a plan! Latios, Latias, do you remember where the nearest town is?"

"Yeah, it's Oreburgh City," replied Latios.

"Great," said Ash, "you and Latias take Team Galactic there," He turned to the Lake Trio. "Do you think you guys could open that portal again?"

"We could," said Uxie, "but how would that help us?"

"I'm getting to that," said Ash, "do you think you could open it without it being a danger though?"

"I think if we removed all the plates, we could use the Adamant and Lustrious Orbs to create a much safer portal," said Azelf.

"Okay, go ahead and make the portal." said Ash, "Once it's done, let me know,"

"Wait a minute," said Pikachu, "don't tell me you're going to do what I think you're going to do,"

Ash grinned. "What do you think, buddy?"

"I think you're crazy," said Pikachu. He grinned back, "which means I'm all in!"

"You're planning on going through the portal, aren't you?" asked Azelf.

Ash nodded. "I have to figure out what happened to Michael and Cyrus,"

"Alright then," said Mesprit, "we'll help you,"

Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie flew to their places and, after using Psychic to move the plates away, began to shoot waves of energy toward the center of the triangle, where the adamant and lustrous orb still sat on their pedestals. In a few seconds, the portal began to form and grow until it was as tall as Ash.

"Alright Ash, the portal is ready," said Uxie.

"Thanks," said Ash, "you ready buddy?"

Pikachu nodded. "Just try not to die on me,"

"Good luck!" said Azelf.

Ash nodded his thanks and took a final look around him before Pikachu jumped on his shoulder and he stepped through the portal.

With Michael (Michael's P.O.V.)

I woke up the next morning, a bit disoriented. It was a few moments before I remembered where I was.

"You sure slept in Michael," David's voice jerked me out of my thoughts. "you must have been really tired,"

I chuckled and got up, enabling my levitation. "Saving the world is pretty exhausting,"

"I bet it is," said David, "where do you think we should start searching today?"

I thought about it for a moment. "Do you remember where I got hit into the water?"

David shook his head. "I was too worried about you to pay attention to where you were shot. Don't you remember?"

"Not really," I replied, "I was just trying to get away,"

"I think mom recorded the broadcast," said David, "I don't think she ever wanted to watch it again, but..."

"Yeah, I know," I said, "I'm sorry for worrying you guys so much,"

"Come on, cheer up Michael," David patted my neck. "you're here now, and that's what matters,"

I sighed. "I guess you're right,"

"If you don't want to watch it you don't have to," said David, "I'm sure I could figure out the place,"

"No, I'll be fine," I switched to my human form so I could fit through the door more easily. "Let's just get this over with,"

David and I walked to the living room and David switched channels until he got the the news channel. As he was about to go to the recordings, something on the screen caught my eye.

"Wait, go back to the news," I said.

David looked surprised but switched back to the news. "What is it?"

I didn't respond as I focused on what the reporter was saying.

"This morning at eight o'clock, a strange man was caught on camera. The video was fuzzy, but some unknown creatures appeared to be with him. What's even stranger is that the man appeared to suck the creature in a red and white ball, making it disappear. Investigations about this man have just started and the police hope to report more," The screen split to show a slightly blurry video of exactly what the reporter had described. I gulped. They might not know who that was but I recognized him almost immediately. It was Cyrus.
