Chapter 20: The Date:
This chapter takes place during the Myotismon Arc
Izzy was on his computer while Sora's comforting a crying Mimi.
"There there, it's going to be okay," says Sora.
"What's up," asks Tai.
"Mimi doesn't have a date for the school dance," says Sora, "she did have one, but that jerk decided to skip it to play Shinobi. This is bad, even I'm going. I'm going with Matt."
"So, what are we going to do about this," asks Tai.
"Glad you asked," says Sora, "hey Mimi, how would you like to go with Tai?"
"What? I got plans!"
"I... can't... ask... him to do that!"
"What about Joe?"
"You know I get sick when I dance," says Joe.
"What about Izzy?"
"The computer nerd? Are you crazy? People will mistake me for a dragon ball!"
"What does that mean," asks Tai.
"I don't know," says Mimi, "but I can't take him!"
"Well, let's see. TK's too young and the only other options are... Digimon."
"Just don't be late, Izzy," says Mimi as she walks away.
"Look Izzy, Mimi's been looking forward to this since we got back to the Real World, so please don't mess this up," says Sora.
Izzy then stops what he's doing and turns to look at Sora. "Oh, hi Sora. When did you get here?"
"Uh, Izzy, did you, by any chance, catch what was going on," asks Tai.
"Not really. I was taking a look at the different alien sightings..."
"Izzy," says Sora, "I don't know how to tell you this, but you have a date with Mimi."
"Oh, okay. Anyway, there are rumors about a guy named Tenchi who lives with... WHAT?"
...
"I wish someone consulted with me first," says Izzy.
"So, what are you going to do," asks Tentomon.
"I'm going to call her and tell her I'm sick."
"I don't think that's the best idea," says Tentomon, "you see..."
Now there's a flashback of Mimi crying.
"I guess I would look like a jerk doing that," says Izzy, "though I would like to know why Tai or Joe can't."
"Wow, you really weren't paying attention."
...
Izzy is on his way to Mimi's house. "I feel ridiculous. I don't even care for school dances. I am not going to enjoy this."
Izzy knocks on the door and Mimi's dad answers.
"I am here to take Mimi to this silly social event," says Izzy.
"I'll tell her you're here," says Mimi's dad.
Izzy stands there waiting, then Mimi comes, and Izzy is amazed at the sight of her in her dress.
"I thought I'd go with something like what the Geckomon made for me."
"You look... um..."
"Now listen, Izzy, I just want to get through this with my social status intact. I want to go to the dance, I want to dance, I want to drink punch with my friends and don't do any of that computer stuff..."
"Umm, I'm sorry to interrupt but our ride is waiting."
"Oh right, then let's go." Mimi sees that the mode of transportation is Kabuterimon.
"I thought it would be easier if we travel this way."
"I won't even charge you," says Kabuterimon.
...
Izzy and Mimi are at the dance.
"Let's get this over with," says Mimi.
As Izzy tries to follow Mimi, he has trouble going through the crowd. Izzy finally makes it to Mimi.
"My friends are coming," says Mimi, "go get me some punch."
"Alright." Izzy walks away.
"Hey Mimi, this is Fred."
"And this is Gus."
"So, where's your date?"
"He's over at the punch bowl getting me some punch," says Mimi.
"Is he the short guy with the mushroom like head?"
"Oh yes," says Mimi, who then sees what Izzy is trying to do, "I mean... oh no."
Izzy is trying to reach the ladle. "Is it just me or is this table a little too high?"
"UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... quick, let's see how ugly Mary's dress is," says Mimi.
Izzy tries to climb the table, but he gets covered in punch.
"I don't think this ever happens to the Blue Ranger," says Izzy.
"Izzy, what are you doing," asks Mimi.
"Right now, I'm hoping no one thinks this is blood."
"You look ridiculous!" Mimi gasps.
"Is Myotismon here?"
"Worst!"
"Worst then a digital vampire who seeks to destroy a child so he can rule both worlds?"
"Get down, he'll see us!" Mimi then pushes Izzy down. "That's the guy who dumped me! So, now the dance is more important than Shinobi!"
"That is a good game."
Mimi glares at him.
"I didn't just say that."
"Let's just go dancing," says Mimi.
"Dance? Oh no. I didn't consider that."
Izzy tries to dance, but he's so bad, he causes chaos.
"Well, I guess we can go home now," says Mimi, "since you ruined everything."
"Wait, we can just hang with Matt and Sora... oh, I've injured them. Well, there's still..." Izzy looks around and looks at the disappointed Mimi. "I think I should just leave you now." Izzy walks away, feeling bad.
"What did you say to him," one of Mimi's friends asks, "poor little guy."
Mimi then walks over to Izzy.
"I'm sorry I messed everything up," says Izzy.
"You didn't mess everything up," says Mimi, "it was pretty funny when you kicked Matt in his vulnerable area."
"I was trying to make sure you have a good time," says Izzy.
"But I am having a good time," says Mimi, "and we haven't finished our dance yet."
"Are you sure?"
Mimi grabs Izzy's hand. "I'm sure."
They try again, but once again, Izzy's dancing causes destruction. The guy who dumped Mimi walked over to her.
"Get lost, you fanfiction character," says Mimi, "I'm with a real boy!"
Everything gets so bad that everyone picked the two up and threw them out.
"And don't come back!"
"Go wreck someone else's school dance, will ya?"
...
Kabuterimon took Izzy and Mimi back to Mimi's place.
"I'm sorry tonight didn't go quite as planned," says Izzy.
"Don't worry," says Mimi, "I knew it would be a total disaster all along, but that was the best disaster I've ever been through." Mimi then kisses Izzy on the cheek and goes inside.
Izzy is paralyzed and Kabuterimon picks him up and takes him home.
"Like I always said," says Kabuterimon, "girls like smart guys. I wonder what Palmon's doing later."
...
At the school dance, Matt and Sora are still injured.
"Maybe we should've joined Tai at his movie night," says Matt.
"I don't even like school dances," says Sora.
"Plus, I hear he's got that new Godzilla," says Matt.
