summary: the players are figuring some stuff out and trying to find out what is happening with 2 of their leaders now dead

Jun Hee Pov:

After Dae He check us all for injuries, the gaurds came in to pass us breakfeast. Single file, we walked down the line to get our meal. It was a simple Gyeran Bap in a small bowl and a bottle of water. We went back to our makeshift to eat in silence, unsure what to do with our newly revealed information. The word was passed during the night, so now Min Su, Dae Ho, Young Si,k and his mother were aware of the missing bodies, and they were trying to figure out what it meant without being suspicious of the guards.

"It just doesn't make any sense," Hyun Ju says exasperatedly. I'm sure they would want to make an example of Gi Hun because he was the leader. And they had no problem showing off everyone else."

"Maybe they escaped?" Young Sik asked. Gi Hun had been here before. Maybe he got the others and hid."

"But he went ahead with Jung-bae. I doubt he would leave him behind." Dae Ho pointed out, with his mouth filled with rice, "Besides, abandoning us isn't in Gi Hun's nature."

"What if he's just biding his time, though?" I add, and everyone's eyes land on me. "Think about it. Gi hun is a strategist;. He's had three years to plan this. I'm sure his backup plans have backup plans."

We think about that, knowing it might be possible, but we shouldn't get our hopes up.

"There is one thing we learned, though," Mrs Jang says.

"What is that mom?" Her son asks after swallowing some eggs.

"The Frontman isn't on top of the pecking order; he has his own bosses he has to listen to." We think about that, wondering how deep this all really goes.

"Either way, we should continue as if we are on our own," Hyun Ju says, once again taking charge. Our plan stays the same: We keep voting to leave and make sure we survive the games."

It's not a great plan, but it's the only one we have. It's important for us to stick together now more than ever. After the failed revolt, we're even more isolated, with both O's and the other X's avoiding us. I wouldn't be surprised if more X's changed sides in today's vote. Lost in thought, I didn't realize Myung Gi had placed his egg in my previously almost empty bowl until I saw it there, trying to get some rice. I looked at him quizzically.

"You're eating for two, and you need your protein." That is all he said before finishing his rice.

"He's right here; have mine two," Dae Ho insisted, shoving his egg into my bowl. The rest of the group shifts around, clearly going to follow suit.

"Stop; I have more than enough eggs. Thank you, but I don't want to steal all your food. Understood?" There is a murmur of agreement, and we all return to eating breakfast. The eggs are still nice and warm despite everything going on, and the food is pretty high quality. The baby seems to agree, I place my hand over the small flutters in my tummy, smiling.

"Are-are they kicking?" Myung asks. His eyes are bright and curious, and I have to bite my lip to keep myself from smiling at him.

"A little. I think they like the food, " I answered honestly. Before I could stop myself, I grabbed his hand and placed it over the baby's target. " See?"

He has a look of awestruck on his face, and this time, there is no holding back my smile.

"You know I forgot to ask, but do you know what you're having?" Mrs Jang asks from across the circle. Myung Gi looks at me curiously.

"No," I shake my head softly, "I wanted it to be a surprise. As long as they're healthy, I'll be happy."

"Well, babies are always the best surprises," the older woman says with a warm smile, looking at both of us.

"Boy or girl, I'm sure they'll have the same amount of stubbornness as you, Jun Hee," Dae Ho says with a smile but is playfully shoved by Young Sik, who in turn is smacked by his mother. Before I know it, we're all in a laughing fit, just enjoying the moment. While it lasts.

Notes: These next couple of chapters are just going to be some set up and character work

I will be updating this fic on Fridays. This is because I started my spring semester and have a full schedule on Thursdays.
