A young woman with light brown and matching light brown eyes, groaned as the rays of the sun hit her face. Grumbling as she pulled the covers over her head, wanting to not be disturbed when sleeping, however just as she was about to have some peace and quiet...
The alarm clock went off and instead of tapping button to stop, she instantly grabbed and threw it against the wall smashing it to pieces. Right below it was a pile of smashed clocks that she has had through the year. Groaning, she slowly sat up and stretched her arms above her head, as the covers fell off her.
She had a well-endowed figure for her age, smooth skin, toned legs and large breasts that just as big as the two Onee-sans of Kuoh. She frowned at the thought of the two, the devils that had arrived to her school a year prior to the present day. It was only four of them when they first came out of nowhere and now, they evolved into to two groups.
Student Council and Occult Research Club.
She made sure to keep herself away from them ever since they first showed up. Now that it helped, it only worked for a small amount of time.
Harumi keeping shook her head to rid herself of these annoying thoughts.
"I can deal with them when I actually get to school. Right now, I'm hungry." She said as she stood up from the bed and walked over to a dresser, taking out a pair of a shorts and a black sports bra and put them on. Then she took out a scrunchie before using it to help tied her hair into a high ponytail and walked out the room.
She made her way downstairs as she wanted to make some food and stopped when a scent reached her nose. Sniffing the air, she followed the scent to the source and found herself towards the bathroom. Opening it, she frowned and grimaced at the sight of the clothes on the floor and the stains on the mirror.
"Right, I forgot I had went on an… outing last night." She remembered as she picks up the clothes that were stained with blood and immediately tossed them into a bin. She turned to the mirror and saw that blood splatters all over and sighed in exasperation, reminding herself that she needed to get another mirror as she knows that blood is very hard to clean up. Closing the door, she went back to the kitchen and immediately looked inside the fridge, her eyes scanning all over and saw that she didn't really have much other than the normal essentials (Milk, eggs, fruit,).
She grabbed a case of grapes mix with red and green, closing the fridge and walked over to the couch. Sitting down, she opened the box and popped a grape into her mouth as she turned on the tv, switching through various channels for something entertaining to watch. Unfortunately, there would be nothing for her to watch.
She would sit like this for an hour just scrolling through boring channels and finished her grapes. She then looked at the time and noticed that she still had another hour before school. Grumbling to herself, she sat up and went to get her school clothes.
After a few minutes, she had on her uniform with a few changes. Her collar was a bit open allowing her chest to breathe, she had no shoulder cape as she viewed it unnecessary and a biker jacket wrapped around her waist just right above her skirt.
The school council might have a problem with the last one but she didn't give a fuck. If they actually cared then they would've dealt with the so-called other problems that have been going on around the school.
Grunting in approval at herself, Harumi grabbed her bag and walked out of her home. Leaving the structure, she made a right going to the direction of her school.
Harumi arrived at the school in silence as she walked through the courtyards heading to her classroom. Students were avoiding her path not wanting to get near her, causing her to smile at this.
To them, she was the Kuoh Academy's Delinquent all because of what she did a year prior to present day. It's not like it was her fault, if things had been handled as soon as the problem had occurred then none of the shit that happened back then would've turned into a bloody mess.
Harumi was brought out of her thoughts when a voice called out to her.
"Harumi-san." The said girl turned her head to see and saw two girls approaching her, one with pink hair and the other with brown hair.
"Katase, Murayama." She greeted in a friendly tone. "How are you two doing?"
"We're okay. Thanks for asking." Murayama started as she gave her fellow classmen a smile. "We just finished our morning training before coming to school."
"Hm, that reminds me, don't you two have the championships coming up soon?" Harumi asked.
"That's right. And it's the regionals championships, our club has been training really hard for an opportunity like this." Katase answered her. "I can't wait to meet all the other types of people when we do."
"Yep, heading up to Europe at the end of the week." Murayama said.
"Well, I'm glad you two are able to reach something like this."
"We couldn't have be able to if it weren't for you." Katase started as she gave Harumi a warm smile. "You had gotten rid of a problem for us that our higherups couldn't or rather wouldn't do."
"I did?" The brunette raised an eyebrow wondering what she was talking about.
"The Perverted Duo." Katase clarified.
"Ah that." Harumi thought with a growl. She remembered the perverted duo when she first started at Kuoh. They had approached and had wanted to show her around but she denied them and said that she was fine, when they tried to be persistent and continued to annoy her, she had put one in a chokehold and broke the arm of the other when they tried to put their hands on her and warn them that she would do worse if they didn't back off.
It worked at least for a time until it came to that day. They both decided to take something precious of hers as a bribe that she would do something for them in return. That item was the last thing she had got from her parents and it was all she had left, so when those two idiots decided to take it from her, all hell broke loose. The two said they would give it back to her if she followed their conditions which irked her to no end but she couldn't do anything about it as she was desperate for her belongings and well... let's just say when the confrontation between the three of them ended very, very bad.
"I was doing what our supposed Student Council failed to do, and had they actually did their job in the first place, then none of that shit would've happened to begin with." Harumi growled already wanting to move on from the topic.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring that up." Katase apologized as the brunette scoffed.
"Moving on, is there anything else you wanted to say?" Harumi asked.
"Oh! Uh! If it's possible we uh wanted to um see if you would like to hang out after school." Katase offer as the brunette raised an eyebrow.
"Why? Shouldn't you be getting ready for the finals?"
"Well, we wanted to at least hangout with you before we leave." Murayama answered. "Plus, with Kiyome out of town and Aika still in Kyoto… She trailed off as Harumi let out a groan.
"You're gonna keep bothering me about this all day until I say yes, aren't you?" She asked and saw both of them smirking.
"Oh, you know us so well." Murayama commented with a smirk as Harumi let out another groan.
"Fine, I'll do it. We can do it sometime this week." Harumi relented as both of them smiled.
"Thanks Harumi." Murayama thanked as Harumi rolled her eyes.
"Yeah yeah, look you two go and have fun with your club finals thing and give it your all!" Harumi said as she turned around and walked away.
She was heading towards the field. Once she was there, she found herself a tree and decided to sit with her back against it, not wanting to socialize with anyone else. She was about to relax until…
"Hyoudou."
Growling internally, she slowly opened one eye to look at the unfortunate soul that had the audacity to wake her up only to grumble at who was in front of her.
"Tsubaki." Harumi greeted. "What do you want, can't you see I'm in the middle of a nap?"
"My president requests your presence at the Student Council, please come with me." Tsubaki instructed as the brunette just scoffed and turned her head away.
"No thanks, I don't need her or Red messing with me today so… run along." Harumi answered while waving her hand.
"Hmm." Tsubaki groaned as she rubbed her hand against her face. She could never get anything through this girl, none of them could. Not only because she was a rebel when it came to school rules but also because of them hounding her nonstop when they first met. She decided to make an example by almost beating their council member Saji to death, who was angry at someone insulted their president. So Harumi beat him, brutally and painfully, with her fists and no powers because she wanted them to know to not fuck around and find out.
"Hyoudou-san, please, do not make this more difficult than it already is." Tsubaki said in a stern tone.
"Difficult? We both know that if anyone could make this difficult it's you. Mostly those two leaders of yours, need I remind you that it was you devils that were the reason for what happened last time we got into a scuffle?" Harumi asked as Tsubaki flinched and looked away not wanting to be reminded of that time.
"Look Tsubaki, you, Kiba, Koneko and all those members of your peerages are nothing more than just slaves. Mere dogs obedient to their owners that will follow every command with no question." The brunette stated causing the bespectacled girl to get angry at her words.
"We're not dogs and Sona isn't a tyrant nor is Rias. We follow them because we chose to or they have saved our lives." Tsubaki argued.
"Then why didn't they save him?" Harumi asked, as Tsubaki froze at her tone but knew what she was talking about.
"Haru-"
"No, I'm gonna stop you right there." The brunette started as she stood up from the ground. "Your Kings are in charge of this territory but they both do a terrible job at protecting the people here. You act just because you're in charge of this place, you can do whatever the hell you want but that doesn't apply here. I don't care who is charge of who, when you own something and you're in charge of the people, then you do everything you can to protect them but you don't."
"What about you?" Tsubaki glared at her. "You think this is fine, going around parading like some sort of vigilante at night, instead of letting us handle it. You put all of us at risk every time you do."
"If you did your job, I'd be out of mine… but here I am." Harumi fired as she pressed a finger to Tsubaki's chest and glared. "You devils have all these abilities to fly, see in the dark and wield special powers yet you only use them to save people when your summoned by someone. If you really in charge, you have at least cameras or lookouts that would signal you that something is happening right now and be on high aleart, but you don't. You wait until it's already happened, and someone's gone."
"We can't save everyone." Tsubaki said in a cold tone.
"No, we can't, but I save those to make up for the ones we failed. Can't say the same for you though. As long as it benefits your king in the long run, you won't raise a finger to help out those in need." Harumi stated as she walked away.
"You devils are just like us humans, selfish and greedy to the bitter end." She whispered as she walked away leaving Tsubaki by herself, the latter gritting her teeth and clenching his fist in anger at the brunette's words.
She then sighed in exhaustion and her expression changed into one filled with sadness, she couldn't really blame Harumi for being the way she is. The brunette's anger towards her friends was completely valid. It was heavy reminder for all of them.
After all, they were the reason Harumi became an orphan.
"Tch. Stupid, Tsubaki. Damn her and those devils." Harumi was pissed as she needed to let off some steam. As she slammed the door open and walked in, heading straight to her desk as the student avoided her path as to not wanting to gain her wrath.
She sat down, crossing her arms and looked out the window as she wanted to be anywhere but near the devils. Tuning everything and everyone out as she wanted to get the day over with.
She then heard the door not really caring about who had entered the room, and then she heard her name being called. Turning her eyes out of curiosity, she saw a new face in the room. A young man with blue-grey eyes, short black hair and looked about her age, but that's not what caught her attention. It was the look in his eyes.
He had the look of someone that wanted to avoid attention and rather be alone.
No…. there was more to it… there was something else…
"Nice to see some fresh meat entering devil grounds." She whispered as he gave her a look of confusion. He then shook his head and decided to remain focused on the subject as she huffed and went back to taking a nap.
Once classes were over, she decided to watch him leave the class before anyone else. She was right behind him as she also liked to not be disturbed by others and watched him head to the direction of the library. She would've gone to her own business until she saw a certain somebody follow him.
She saw that Reya was following the boy to the library. She frowned in disgust as once again; a devil was following a new student with the potential ability to have a sacred gear or something else.
"Unbelievable." She spat as she turned around and walked away to her own ministrations, expecting the boy to easily charmed into becoming a devil by the end of the day. She then went ahead and decided to leave the school grounds as she had places to be.
As she was walking along the road, her gaze was one in deep thought thinking about something. She heard laughter and looked over to the side, seeing a girl running around a playground along with a boy and two people with smiles on their face. She knew that this was a family.
Watching the kids laughing with each other and playing tag, it reminded her of her own family. Speaking of which, it was almost time for her to visit them. a sad expression made its way on her face as she recalled back to that night.
The night where everything went to hell, where supernatural beings had entered her home and took her away her family. She remembers it all to the last detail. Her father Gorou being stabbed upon opening the door, collapsing to the ground. Her Mother Miki screaming at the death of her husband before being choked to death and then was thrown to the wall and her brother… her older brother…
"Ngh!" Harumi groaned as she pressed a hand to her forehead, her memories were still blurry from that day of who attacked them. She's been searching for them, she never got to find out who was responsible and to this day still hasn't found them, only that there were traces of supernatural energy belong to all three factions. The event changed her for the worse, all the adults around her were feeling pity for what happened to her while kids were a different story. Some felt sorry while others made fun of her family. Those who did kept pushing her closer and closer until one day she had snapped, and it didn't end well for anyone. She had not only crushed the bones of those that bullied her, but she also sent them all to the hospital after leaving them in a near death state. Soon the pity turned to anger from the adults and all of them started getting mad and threw even more insults at her, but she didn't care.
Her family was taken from her and these people had the audacity to laugh about it, make fun of them or simply say that it's get better or saying that they know what she was going through. They didn't, in the end, they got what they deserved.
'They don't. People are nothing more than liars and hypocrites. They don't care because it doesn't affect them directly. Ever since that day, I put told myself that I would never trust anyone other than myself.' She thought to herself as she replayed the memories in her head of her parents and older brother, wishing that she could've protect them but knows that was nothing more than a fantasy.
Harumi would stay out walking around her neighborhood for a long time, just reliving the memories of the good times and repeat it in her head.
"I didn't even realize I was out for that long. Hmm?" She muttered to herself before finding a familiar face. She looked to her right and saw the same boy she had met at school walking alone with his head down. She then sniffed his scent, and her eyes widened in shock, he wasn't a devil. At least not yet.
Surprising, since she was sure he was going to become one right off the bat since that's what he thought Reya had planned to do to him but seeing him now made her thinks something's different. She walked closer to him and realized that someone was wrong, he was holding his head and having a hard time walking as he swayed side to side.
Just as she was about to call out to him, she then felt a presence of a fallen angel nearby. She was frantically looking around as she noticed the sky turned dark purple indicating that they were trapped inside a barrier and when she looked back at Reoto, she noticed that there was someone else standing there.
A blue-haired woman wearing a trench coat, Kalawarner, that was the woman that the brunette was gazing at who she figured was responsible but continued observing from the tree. She watched as the woman was acting a bit arrogant and that ticked her off, but she was surprised when the boy knew her name and said that he didn't care and continued walking as if she wasn't important.
She couldn't help but let out a snicker at that, seeing a fallen angel get insulted by a human who didn't care. However, her laughs were halted as the woman got angry and kicked him harshly on the side and onto the street.
Harumi was about to go ahead and stopped the fallen from killing the boy when suddenly something paused her to stop. Something dark and sinister… just appeared out of nowhere and it was making her feel very uneasy.
"What the-" She looked over to boy who was clutching his head as if he was trying to keep himself under control, but the woman didn't even care as she was too busy feel insulted by the boy and her pride had taken over, ignoring the danger in front of her.
As she was about to help Reoto, she paused as she witnessed something else. Something had pierced the fallen angel's stomach, and it was coming from the said boy. The latter then released his arm watching as Kalawarner's intestines spilled onto the pavement and slowly walked over to her with an eerie smile on his face.
Some of her blood got on Harumi's cheek but she didn't even register it, too busy with observing Reoto.
Harumi was very confused; this was not the same boy she encountered in the classroom earlier. This was something else, someone else. Almost as if it was an entirely different person, she was given further prove that it was when she saw him go behind the fallen angel and rip the wings out of her back. Wings were very sensitive towards creatures like angels, birds or anything that had wings because it was also like it was a piece of their soul, seeing this boy effortlessly pull them out of her back like it was nothing and all with a smile on his face...
She won't lie, watching this boy go from a confused introvert to a strong and sadistic, it kind of made her wet.
Shaking her head out of fantasy land, she focused her gaze back on the boy and was met with awe as the fallen angel just suddenly exploded into pieces. Nothing but blood and organs staining all over the streets.
She then heard him say something that caught her off guard.
"Hmhmhmhm, what a poor creature. Surely thought she would last longer… could've made a good addition to my collection of puppets… Oh well… you know what they say, they're a plenty of fish in sea."
Reoto' then turned his head once more and his eyes were staring right at her.
And once more, he formed a creepy smile, this time with his mouth wide open showing his razor-sharp teeth, and his pitch-black eyes.
"W̸͍̠̿O̵̹̩̒̿ͅU̴̖͆̿̚L̷̝̘̙̽̎D̷̢̫̜̾Ǹ̶̨̫̑'̶̳̗̊͛̐̓T̸͖̘̿͋̐̓ ̴̱̓Y̷̧̛̭̗̓͂Ọ̵͒́̀̀͝U̶̢̇̓͗͐̕ ̴̼͚͊͛A̴̛͖͇̓́̓̏G̷̳̥͒̾R̵͌̽̕͜͝Ḛ̶̝̅E̶̢̥̙͊͝?̶̺͓̦̚͠"
For a moment, Harumi froze at his eyes bored into her own unaware that he was slowly walking over to her until he finally was in front of her. She should've been scared of him, scared of that he might kill her next just because she had watched him kill someone or worse… but she wasn't. As he raised his hand, she could see that he was about to do something, probably kill her but she wasn't prepared for what happened next.
He raises a thumb to his mouth, licking it with his tongue and move it towards her cheek. Before she could comprehend what was happening, she noticed that he was gently stroking her cheek and was wiping away remnants of the blood that had hit her.
"You…. Are not like the others…" He spoke in a low tone, his eyes filled with curiosity. His question caused the brunette to get out of her trance and focus on him.
"Um… who are you, I am speaking to Reoto?" Harumi asked slowly, wanting to know who or what she was speaking to.
"Not quite. Let's just say, I'm someone he wants gone, a remnant from his past that he can never run from." Reoto answered.
"A remnant from the past? What do you mean?" She asked, wanting to know more information. However, just before he could elaborate any further, she saw his eyes flicker between black and white which cause the boy to scoff.
"Great, my time is almost up, again. Girl, what is your name?" He asked.
"Harumi." She answered without hesitation.
"Harumi, congratulations, you get the role of watching over this foolish host of mine. Make sure he gets home safely, don't want any devils getting their hands on him."
"B-but wait, why me?"
"Why else?" He said before his reverted back to normal and Reoto let out a gasp as he looked around and was wondering what was going on. He was about to ask what was happening until his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fell forward, causing Harumi to catch him and land on her bosom.
In any other situation, she would've punched the boy to the ground for being lewd and perverted, but she was too stunned at the revelation about Reoto being something else that she didn't care.
"What are you?" She whispered, glancing at the boy in her arms. She looked up and realized that the barrier between them had fallen and now it was nighttime. Not wanting to give the devils a chance to discover them, Harumi went ahead and scoop the boy up into a princess carry and made sure to hide her presence before slowly and quietly making her way to her home.
