The flight arrived in Chicago and then once they got their stuff, they went to get their cars and headed home. As soon as they arrived at the house, Trevor, Lisa, Ed and Maggie were heading over with Captain. Olivia had seen them and came out of the garage with the kids, while Hank got the luggage.
"Hey, welcome back."
"Thanks. You two moved in?"
"We are. Hi neighbor!"
"Hello."
"They're still at our house quite a bit but it's good to have them closer."
"Where are the kids?"
"They're at Joe and Rita's and they'll bring them home later."
The guys took the bags in and then everyone else went inside. Erin and Olive went to feed the babies, while Noah, Daniel and Lexie went to the family room, while everyone else went into the kitchen. Olivia put a movie in for the kids and took Captain's leash off. She then fed him.
"How'd things go this week?"
"Well, we were working on a case with Intelligence at the beginning of the week and Antonio got shot."
"Uh oh! Is he ok?"
"He's fine but needed surgery. He's out of the hospital now and of course he's off, so I took over Intelligence for the rest of the week with Al's help and Kyle dealt with SVU. Gabby and Sylvie responded and of course Gabby didn't handle it too well when she found out it was Antonio. Casey was trying not to get too stressed out."
"Where was he shot?"
"The knee."
"He'll be on desk duty for a while. Thank you for takin' over."
"No problem."
"I never would have guessed Al would have wanted to help."
"Everyone was helpful and I got a 'you did good, kid' from Al when I left Friday. There have been no calls this weekend."
"Comin' from Al, that's a compliment. What happened to the guy that shot Antonio?"
"He's in jail."
"Good."
"Well, I guess you'll be out in the field more with Antonio off."
"More than likely."
"Who's prosecuting the guy?"
"Alex is. The State's Attorney thought it would be better if Casey did not take the case because of her relationship with Antonio. It was mostly our case though and the State's Attorney didn't have a problem with Alex handling it."
"That makes sense to not have Casey doing it."
Lisa ended up telling Hank and Olivia exactly what had happened.
"It was your idea to take over Intelligence?"
"Yes and Commander Crowley did not have a problem with it. I left all the paperwork with all my notes, etc. on your desk."
"Ok."
"She's very thorough with her paperwork."
"Sounds like someone else I know."
"Ha, ha!"
"I think I'm gonna go see Antonio."
"Ok."
"I'll go with you."
"Ok."
"Let me go tell Erin."
Jay went upstairs to tell Erin he and Hank were leaving and then he kissed both of them. Hank kissed Olivia and the kids and then he and Jay left to go see Antonio.
"So, how was the Bahamas?"
"It was amazing! Erin said it topped Disney."
"Where did you stay?"
"One of the Atlantis resorts but we had access to the pools and waterslides at all of them."
"Did you do any of the waterslides?"
"Jay and Justin did. The girls didn't even go and neither did we. Jay and Justin spent a lot of time together on this trip. Hank spent a lot time with Noah and Daniel and I spent a lot of time with my girls.
"I'm glad we did."
"Jay and Erin spent the first night on their own for dinner and we kept Nadia. The next day, we met everyone for breakfast but then Hank and I spent the day by ourselves. Noah and Lexie stayed with Jay and Erin."
"What did you do for your anniversary?"
"We swam with the dolphins, which was so amazing."
The doorbell rang, so Olivia got up to get it. It was Trudy, Mouch, Al and Meredith.
"Hey."
"Hey, welcome back."
"Thanks. Come on in."
Everyone came in and went into the kitchen.
"Where's Hank?"
"He went to see Antonio and Jay went with him."
"Ok. So, how was it?"
"It was amazing!"
Olivia told them about the trip.
"It sounds amazing."
"Dad had a blast from the past."
"What's that?"
"We ran into Doug Parker."
"Oh, no kidding. What's he up to?"
"He's still a Pediatrician at Loyola. He remarried and has 3 almost 4 kids. He hasn't seen or heard from Dylan since the funeral."
"He seemed surprised that you were married when Hank told him."
"He and I briefly went out in high school."
"He told me a little more about Hank. Hank ended up telling me about what happened. I just don't understand why he didn't want to tell me any of this. He basically said he never felt normal after what had happened."
"He just never liked talkin' about it."
"I told him I thought his voice was sexy and he asked me if I'd still love him even if he didn't sound the way he does now. I told him I'd love him no matter what. Justin, did you know what had happened?"
"I know about it but it didn't come from him. My mom never seemed to care about what he sounded like."
"I don't care either. I was very self-conscious about all my scars from William Lewis but I don't feel that way around Hank. When he was looking at my Internal Affairs file with the William Lewis case when we had the similar one here, he was having a hard time looking at the pics of me. I didn't think he would ever see me the same way again but that was so far from the truth."
"I warned him about that. I told him that the pictures were graphic and when he said he deals with dead bodies for a living, I told him that these were pictures of his wife with all these fresh burns on her body."
"I still feel a little self-conscious too but it doesn't bother Trevor and that's all that matters to me."
"I feel that way too."
"While you were gone, Trevor made the arrangements to go to Oktoberfest and he wants to show me Germany and some of the surrounding countries, so we'll be gone a couple weeks."
"That's fine. Trev, are your parents going too?"
"Nope. I figured we needed some alone time."
"Do you have family over there?"
"I think there is still family over there. My dad still keeps in touch with his cousins. My grandparents came here and my dad was born here. My dad said he's actually planning to retire this year, so he can enjoy his grandkids but I think they want to travel too."
"That's great. So, when?"
"I think the end of June."
"My dad is considering it too for the same reason. He's been doing this ever since I can remember."
"That sounds about right."
"Same with my dad. I've tried to tell my mom that she doesn't need to take care of our kids. I'd hire a nanny."
"That wouldn't bother me. Don't get me wrong, I love your mother. She at least knows what it's like to be a working mother."
"I think Pauline gets it more now than she ever has. I don't know if she told you this or not but she ran into Eric's mother when she went to get her hair done."
"No, she did not."
"She told me that his mother blames you for what happened to him."
"It wasn't my fault. He was the one screwing around. I hope she didn't tell her about Emily."
"She did not. She pretty much told her off and said Eric got what he deserved for what he did to you. Do you think his mother hears from the one he was messing around with?"
"When I last talked to her, no. That was when she wanted to girls to meet. If I ran into his mother now and she happened to see Emily, the only thing that would prove that she's his is a DNA test. She has looked like me since Day 1 and she still does. I'm guessing if she ever finds out about her, she'd try to take her away from me."
"I won't let that happen and neither will Greg. She's as much my daughter as Becca and Charli are. I'll have her ass in court so fast, she won't know what hit her."
"I love how protective you are of us."
"It's my job and I happen to love you more than anything."
"We all love you too."
Lisa kissed Trevor and then the doorbell rang, so Olivia went to answer it. It was Alex, Kyle, Lizzie, Kevin, Dickie, Jenna, Kathy and all the kids, except Eli and Olivia.
"Hello, everyone."
"Hey. You look well rested."
"Oh, I am. Kathy, it's good to see you."
"You too. I decided to come visit the twins for the week. I wanted to see the new house."
"Are they here?"
"Yep, they're here."
Everyone came in and went into the kitchen and sat down, while the kids went into the family room.
"I take it Hank knows about Antonio."
"Yep. Lisa told us. Hank and Jay went over to see him. Erin and Olive are feeding the babies. How are things going, Kathy?"
"Actually, better than expected. She understands more than I thought she did. She told me he had told her they were going to be going away pretty soon but she told him she didn't want to be away from me. All he told her was that she was going to have a new mommy soon."
"In his warped mind maybe. Ed told me the last time we saw him a few weeks ago that Elliot had phony divorce papers done and had planned to send them to Hank."
"That was just creepy even for Dad."
"He was fine until he ran into you. I'm not saying it's your fault but ever since Hawaii last year, he had just become so obsessed with you. At one point, he had wanted us to get back together but I told him I didn't like the person he was becoming because it seemed like all he cared about was breaking up your marriage."
"When he told me that you had filed for a separation before you were even pregnant with Eli, I could have told him that I had feelings for him just to complicate things but that would mean we wouldn't have been able to work together anymore and I didn't want that. I did develop feelings for him to a certain extent but we were partners and had each other's backs. I respected you and the kids enough not to go that route. Obviously he didn't respect Hank and our family enough.
"We're all sorry he put you through all this."
"Thanks but none of you have anything to be sorry for. A part of me feels like I'm still the reason you two divorced."
"Most of it was because he made everything about himself. Lately he had become so judgmental about a lot, more specifically Dickie and Lizzie."
"I never cared that Kevin was a nurse. I love him for the man he is and not what he does for a living."
"I had the nerve to marry the daughter of the person he despised the most with the NYPD. Do you think I care? No. He was jealous because I have a better relationship with my father-in-law than I ever did with him. And you know what? I actually understand why Ed didn't like Dad. I don't know how you worked with him as long as you did."
"Sometimes I don't either. So, are you two ready to start your new jobs?"
"I am."
"I am too."
Then Erin came downstairs.
"Hey, everyone."
"Hey."
"Is she asleep?"
"Yep.
"I'm lookin' forward to it too, Officer Stabler. For maybe the first few days or so, you'll be workin' with me."
"You poor guy."
"I'm not that bad."
"It depends on her mood."
"I agree."
Trudy glared at both of them. Justin went downstairs to check on Olive. She had fallen asleep after she put Millie down for her nap. Justin then came back upstairs.
"They're both asleep."
"So, Lisa, I hear your dad is finally thinking about retirement."
"I guess if you know about it, he's doing more than thinking about it. Trevor's dad is planning to retire at the end of next month."
"I heard that too."
"What does it mean for you if my dad retires?"
"I work with Dr. Stevenson as well. I'm actually going to be working on my Master's, so I can become licensed as a Nurse Anesthetist. I'm working and spending as much time with Liz and the kids as I can now, since classes start in the fall and I will be taking classes at night. We did get some money from Liz's dad, so I'm paying down my loans. I'm getting a break on my tuition, since I'm sticking with Northwestern and it should only take a couple years to do it."
"Did my dad talk you into this?"
"No. I've been wanting to do it for a while. I just need to get back into the school thing."
"Kevin is clearly the brain of the 4 of us."
"You weren't bad in school either and we're both very detail oriented. You have to be as a Detective."
"That's true. I'm proud of you, bro, you know that, right?"
"Yeah. I'm proud of you too. You're a cop and pretty soon you'll be a dad."
"I'm a little nervous about that but I have spent quite a bit of time with Molly and Nicky."
"You'll do fine."
"I'm nervous too, so you are definitely not alone in that."
"That's good to know."
"We'll figure it out together. So, Liv, I need to ask you something."
"You can ask me anything. You know that."
"Would you help me plan this wedding thing? I think Case wants to ask you too. We're not planning on anything over the top. You've done this before."
"Yeah, in a week basically because the venue screwed up. I'm lucky I got everyone from New York here in a week and I was able to find a dress I liked in that length of time. It's a good thing we already knew who we wanted in the wedding. I'll do what I can though."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"How was your trip?"
"It was amazing!"
"We're thinking about where we want to go on our honeymoon."
"I highly recommend the Bahamas."
"It won't be until after the baby anyway. I think Casey and Antonio are thinking about Hawaii for theirs."
"That's where Hank and I went for ours. I love it there but Elliot kind of ruined it for me."
"Apparently he ruined things for a lot of people, including his family."
"Can I get anyone anything?"
"We're fine."
"Us too."
"Same with us."
"Ok. Kathy, how long are you here?"
"I was in for a week. I came in last Monday, so I leave around 6 tomorrow evening. Jack is taking care of Eli and Olivia for me."
"Can we meet for lunch tomorrow?"
"Of course. We'll probably come out here again when the kids get out of school for the summer. Jack wants to meet you and your family."
"Has he met Bernie?"
"Not yet but she knows about him. We're probably going to make the rounds this summer anyway. For Spring Break, we took the kids to see Maureen. We'll come here and then head to Philly."
"We want to take Noah and Lexie to Disneyland probably in November. One of my former Detectives lives out there, so I would love to see him and maybe if she's available, we can see Maureen too."
"She would love that. Do you have her contact info?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Ok. Do you know when?"
"No. Hank is going to start looking into making the arrangements."
"Everyone is planning to go to Kathleen's for Thanksgiving."
"I think it would be before that. Dickie, are you planning to go too?"
"If I have the time, yes."
"Obviously the same with me."
"I started here in March and took off in June when we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. I had the time even though I didn't think I would. Lisa told me she and Trevor are going to Oktoberfest and will be gone for two weeks."
"That's what, late September?"
"Yeah."
"I'm good with that."
"I'll step up in any way I can too."
"Thanks, Erin."
"Sure. What happened with Antonio?"
Al, Lisa and Kyle told Erin what happened.
"I cannot wait to prosecute that son of a bitch. He's at least being held until the trial."
"That's a good thing."
The doorbell rang again, so Olivia went to answer it. This time it was Casey.
"Hey, Case."
"Hey."
"Come on in."
"Thanks. Most of Intelligence is over and so are Matt and Gabby, so I figured I could get away for a little while."
"Has he heard from his ex?"
"No but the kids have been around. They're with us more than they're not lately. Matt and Gabby have been great. They'll come over on their off days and spend time with him."
"Al is here."
"He's been by."
The two of them went into the kitchen.
"Hey, Case."
"Hey."
"How's Antonio today?"
"Better. He was glad that everyone from Intelligence had come to see him. Hank and Jay were telling us about your trip."
"It was amazing!"
"That's what it sounded like. We're planning to get married soon."
"When?"
"We need to get the Marriage License and we're goin' to City Hall probably the end of next week. We're not going to have a lot of people there though but we'll have something for everyone once he's feeling up to it."
"Who are you including?"
"Eva, Diego, Gabby and Matt but we'd also like you and Hank, Alex and Kyle and Trevor and Lisa there as well."
"Just let us know when and what time. I'm sure Hank will be fine with going."
"We'll be there."
"Us too."
"I'll work on planning your reception."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Thanks, Liv."
"No problem."
"He's trying to plan our honeymoon but obviously that won't be until after the baby is born."
"Any names for Baby Girl Dawson yet?"
"We're thinking about Mia Avery."
"We were thinking about Aiden Oliver."
"Both names are so cute."
"Thanks. Maybe we should just do what Casey and Antonio are doing. The baby is going to be here before we know it.
"You're probably right."
"I don't know that I necessarily want to include your sister but we'd have to include Kevin and Lizzie and your parents. I want Liv and Hank, Casey and Antonio and Lisa and Trevor there too."
"I'm fine if you don't want to be married by the time he gets here."
"That's how I was but I'm actually glad we were married by the time she was born."
"I do want to be married."
"Why don't we just do it at the same time?"
"I'm fine with that."
"I am too."
"I'm sure Antonio would be too."
"If we're all going to be gone, then I guess Erin will be in charge."
"Now, that's scary."
"I'd be in charge of you too."
"Damn it! Just don't let it go to your head."
"You can be such an ass sometimes."
"Thank you."
"It wasn't a compliment."
"Children!"
"Sorry, Mom."
"Me too."
"You better be."
Justin hugged Erin.
"Someone else would be in charge of Intelligence too."
"Probably Halstead."
"Not you, Al?"
"Oh, hell no!"
"We heard you were helping Lisa though."
"That's because there was no one else."
"Would you two want to have a combined reception?"
"It works for me."
"Us too."
"What do you have in mind?"
"I have no idea where yet but we also haven't had a baby shower for either of you yet. We could do something to celebrate both."
"I'd help plan something."
"Me too."
"Me too."
"I also need to talk to Gabby yet. I'd probably include people from New York too."
Olivia texted Gabby to tell her what she was thinking. She happened to be at Antonio's and Hank and Jay were leaving, so she left with them and so did Eva. She said she could probably get a ride back from Casey. When they arrived at the house, they all came in.
"I love that idea."
"Did you happen to mention it to your brother?"
"I did. He doesn't mind doing something with Alex and Kyle."
"I'll definitely help."
"Babe, what can I do to help?"
"I need you to help find a place to have it. You know more people than I do."
"How much do you wanna spend? I can check out the Signature Room and the Odyssey."
"They Odyssey would be perfect but they'll probably be booked up until who knows when. I would love to do this before the babies are born. Our baby shower was here but I don't necessarily want to have it here, since we'd have to worry about the food and cleanup."
"I'd offer Molly's but we don't have food."
"Money is no problem. I'll pay for the venue."
"We'll pay half
Hank made a call.
"The Signature Room is available on the 8th of June at 6:30. That's a Friday night."
"That works for me."
"That's fine."
"Book it."
"Ok."
Hank booked the Signature Room and then hung up.
"They said you can come over anytime and pick what you want for the food. You can make the deposit then."
"Ok."
"Ok. Gabby, what works for you?"
"We're back on tomorrow and not again until Thursday but I can probably meet you at any time as long as I can bring Brett with me."
"I'm probably around more than Diego is. I have classes Monday through Thursday until 2."
"How about Friday then? We can meet for lunch by 11 or 11:30 and go over there after that."
"That works."
"Lizzie, if your mother-in-law wants to join us, that's fine."
"I'll talk to her. Molly has Preschool until noon but Grandpa can pick her up."
"I sometimes wish I was closer."
"But then Maureen and Kathleen would think you're showing favorites. Dad wanted to be here too but that was probably so he could be closer to Olivia."
"Yeah, no doubt."
"Let me know."
"I will."
"Erin, what are we doin' tomorrow for dinner?"
"Other than havin' dinner with the family, I have no idea."
"Will asked us if we wanted to have dinner with them."
"That works for me."
"Ok."
Jay texted Will back and said they'd be there. Everyone left and headed home, while the Voights and Halsteads found something for dinner after Olivia told Kathy she would call her to pick the time and place for them to meet for lunch. After dinner, they found a movie to watch and then they headed up to bed after Hank took Captain out. Even though none of them were looking forward to it, they were all headed back to work tomorrow and Noah and Daniel were back to Preschool as well.
