By the time Pauline, Maggie, Jen, Tracy and PJ arrived at the hospital, Ellen was in surgery for her hip and Paul had been admitted for observation. They found out where Paul was and went up to his room. They knocked before they went in.
"Come on in."
"Hey, Dad."
"Hey."
"How's it goin'?"
"Not too bad considering. They'll cast my arm tomorrow. Your mom is in surgery right now. She has a broken hip."
"When I talked to Shawn, he said it sounded like a broken hip. Alice and Max showed up, so they're helping out with the boys."
"That's good."
"Ed, Steve and Steph are on their way from Chicago and everyone else sends their love."
Maggie told Paul everything that had happened in Chicago.
"Is Rita ok?"
"I had a message from Lisa saying the surgery went well, so they'll see how things go in the next day or so. David is flying out there tomorrow after he gets off from his shift and then he's planning on taking a couple shifts off. Joe is realizing that he needs to be spending more time with her."
"Steve is getting to be the same way now."
"As much as I would love for Shawn to be here, I get he wants to spend time with his parents while they're there."
"That makes sense. How's Steph feeling?"
"She's doin' great. It doesn't seem like she's halfway through it already."
"You had an appointment last week, didn't you?"
"We went on Friday. Everything with your granddaughter looks good."
"PJ, that is great news! Congratulations!"
"Thanks."
"Your mother is going to be so happy to hear that. This is the 9th time she has wanted a granddaughter."
"I would rather have had 4 girls and not 4 boys."
"Same with me."
"We had already talked about a boy's name. Her real's dad's name was Michael, so we were talking about naming a son Michael Kevin. We're workin' on a name."
"We're definitely gonna have a baby shower."
"That's for sure. This is big for the Campbell family. I'll volunteer to babysit."
"Me too."
"We appreciate that."
"Is anyone going anywhere this summer?"
"Ed and I were talking about taking a cruise to Alaska but when we decided to move, we decided not to right now. We still want to though."
"Lisa and Trevor are going to Oktoberfest."
"That was always so fun when we went."
"Maybe we could do another sister's vacation and take the husbands."
"That would be nice. Maybe we could do the Alaskan cruise for that."
"I'll talk to Ed and see what he says."
"What would happen with the boys?"
"We would probably wait until they were done with school and drop them off with Kathy in Seattle. I guess if school wasn't a problem now, she would have taken them back with her. She decided to stay a little longer now. Jenna really didn't want them missing school but Noah and Daniel missed a few days."
"It's better while they're in Preschool."
"Are you and Steve taking the kids, while Lisa and Trevor are gone?"
"It'll either be us or Rita and Joe. Now Rita is recovering from ankle surgery. Not that I mind. I love all my grandkids."
"You weren't necessarily a fan of Trevor's when you first met him."
"Yeah, I know. He definitely treats her better than Eric ever did. That bitch mother of his still blames Lisa for his death. Like Lisa said after Maggie told her that I ran into his mother, the only way she'd find out Emily was Eric's would be if she had a paternity test done. She looks like Lisa and has since the day she was born."
"That's the same thing Jenna said about the boys. They have always looked like her. She said she never thought she looked like her mother or either of her grandparents, so she figured she looked like her dad. The boys look just like Ed. She still doesn't buy the fact that their sperm donor is no longer with his wife. Her grandparents know never to discuss her or the boys with him if he comes around."
"Dickie is as much their dad as Trevor is Emily's."
"Exactly."
"Do you ever wonder about Uncle Ed's family?"
"Sometimes. I would love to meet his parents. I know a lot of it was because of what happened with Jenna's mother but no one in his family knows about Jenna. Her mother's parents were in the wrong for not telling him about her and for not telling her about him. They know they were."
They saw an older couple walking the hall with the Physical Therapist. The husband was obviously doing his rehab following surgery.
"I'm going to the washroom."
Maggie left and headed to the washroom. She got a better look at the couple and she couldn't help but wonder. She went into the bathroom and by the time she came out, the older woman was coming in.
"Oh, I'm sorry, dear."
"Don't worry about it."
"Do you have someone here that had surgery?"
"My sister is in surgery right now. She and my brother-in-law were in a car accident. She broke her hip."
"My husband just had a hip replacement. Arthritis but he waited until it was so bad he wouldn't walk anymore."
"I hope he's doing better."
"He is. Thank you. I hope your sister gets better quickly."
"I'm sure she will."
"I'm Claire Tucker."
"I'm Maggie Tucker."
"Small world."
"It is."
"You have a good evening."
"You too."
Maggie headed back to Paul's room.
"Remember that lady we saw walking the hall with her husband?"
"Yeah."
"I ran into her in the washroom. Such a sweetheart and her name is Claire Tucker."
"That's a common name though."
"I know but there was just something about those eyes of hers that reminded me so much of Ed's. They're the same shade of blue."
"Could be an aunt maybe."
"I don't know."
"I'm kind of hungry. Can we stop for ice cream on the way back to the hotel?"
"That works for me."
"Us too."
"I'll stay here with Dad and let you know when Mom gets out of surgery."
"Such a good baby brother."
"Ha! Here's the other keycard for Steph."
"Ok."
Everyone hugged Paul and PJ and then they left to head towards the elevator.
"Did Ed say when their flight was getting in?"
"Soon, I think. I think he said it was leaving by 5 Chicago time."
They got into the elevator and headed to the vehicle. They went to get ice cream before they headed to the hotel. Maggie texted Ed to let them know when they were there, so she could meet him and they also had the keycard to PJ's room for Steph.
Meanwhile in Chicago, all the kids were finally in bed. Hank had joined Olivia after he got ready for bed.
"You doin' ok?"
"It still kind of hurts but honestly, I'm glad it was nothing more serious."
"I am too."
"I think Noah got a kick out of me being shot in the butt though."
"So did Fin."
"That's because of what happened with Munch. Those two were so funny together."
"I'm just glad I was with you when this happened."
"I'm glad too. Everyone went down ok?"
"Yeah."
"I'm kind of worried about Dickie."
"Personally, I don't think he did anything wrong. I'm sure it'll be ruled a good shoot."
"I hope so."
"He even said he felt better after he talked to Ed. It could have been any of us. I wouldn't have thought twice about killin' that son of a bitch for what he did to you."
"I don't doubt that."
"I meant what I said. I hope to see Dickie up in Intelligence soon. That kid has a lot of potential."
"I know he doesn't necessarily want to be a detective like his dad. I should talk. I never wanted to be a Sergeant, let alone a Lieutenant."
"I'm wonderin' if I should have a second Sergeant like you do especially after today. I should have gone to the hospital with you but I couldn't just leave the scene."
"If anyone gets that, I do. I was fine with Justin being with me. Who would you consider?"
"Maybe Jay. If Erin was still with Intelligence, I'd probably have her do it."
"I like having two Sergeants. Kyle really took charge of this case when his family was in danger and after I went down."
Erin came out of the shower and Jay came upstairs.
"ARE YOU TWO OUT THERE?"
"YEAH."
"COME IN HERE."
Erin and Jay came into Hank and Olivia's bedroom.
"I'm almost thinkin' I need to have a second Sergeant. I wanna talk to Dawson and Crowley about it but I wanted to run it by you."
"Why me?"
"I'm thinkin' that second Sergeant would be you."
"Are you serious?"
"Who else is gonna do it? It sure as hell wouldn't be Olinsky."
"Having two Sergeants seems to work great for us."
"It has."
"Is Lisa planning to take time off?"
"She was pretty sure she was going to take tomorrow and Wednesday off but wasn't sure about Thursday and Friday. Trevor is off the rest of the week and said he can work from home if he has to. I told her I was fine if she wanted to be off the rest of the week. Steph went to New York with Ed and Steve, so she's off the rest of the week."
"Ok."
"How was dinner?"
"Great. They finally decided they're ready to make it official. Will wants to adopt Owen and surprisingly, Helen seems to be ok with that."
"That's great! Do they know when?"
"Not yet but this is a step in the right direction. She's had a big wedding but obviously he's never been married before. She's not sure she wants another big wedding."
"They'll figure something out."
"Oh, I know they will. After spending as much time as he has with Owen and Nadia, Will is ready to be a dad. Nat definitely wants more kids."
"I'm supposed to be helping Alex and Casey pick out the food for their party this week."
"I'm sure they'll understand if you can't go."
Hank got a call about a case and then he hung up.
"We gotta go."
Jay made a face.
"I feel the same way."
Hank contacted the rest of the team and then he and Jay both went to get dressed, while Erin went to dry her hair. Once they were ready, they kissed their wives and left. Olivia and Erin watched a movie.
Ed, Steve and Steph's flight was just arriving in New York. They got off the plane and went to get their luggage. Ed checked his messages. Once they got their luggage, they went to get the rental and then Ed drove to the hotel. Steve contacted Pauline to tell her they were on their way. When they arrived at the hotel, Ed parked the car and they went in. Pauline, Maggie, Jen and Tracy were waiting for them in the lobby. Pauline and Maggie kissed their husbands and Jen and Tracy hugged their sister-in-law.
"You don't know how happy we are to hear that you two are having a girl."
"I would have been ok with either but I'm happy to be the one to be having the first granddaughter."
"Leave it to PJ. I love my nephews but I've always wanted a niece, since I never had a daughter."
"Same with me. Like we told PJ, I wanted a girl all 4 times I was pregnant."
"I did too. I was done after 4 no matter what."
"Me too. I'm glad Sarah finally got her daughter."
"We are too."
"We told PJ we'd babysit any time."
"Good to know. PJ is still at the hospital?"
"He said he'd stay there tonight. Not too long after we left the hospital, Mom got out of surgery and everything went well. We'll see how things go in the next day or so. PJ said Dad knows they need to relocate and so does Mom."
"We've got the room and we have space on the main level. The only thing is, we both work."
"Other than Dad's arm being broken, he's pretty independent. He does a lot of the cooking anyway. He'll be in the cast for what, 6 to 8 weeks?"
"Yeah, probably. Mom's recovery will be longer than that."
"Is everything ok with Olivia, Lizzie, Kathy and Dickie?"
"Liv is fine. Kathy and Lizzie are too but they're a little shaken up. Dickie will be fine. He and I had a long talk about what will happen with the investigation."
"That was a hell of a first day for him though."
"Yeah, really."
"Is Kevin planning on taking time off?"
"He said he was. Joe and I both met with the Chief of Staff and the Board and put our notice in. We're both giving them a little over a month. The end of June we're both done."
"That's good."
They all headed to the elevator and went up to their rooms. Ed and Maggie got to their room and went in. Ed put his bag down and they sat on the bed.
"I need to ask you something."
"What?"
"Are you by any chance related to a woman named Claire?"
"My mom's name is Claire. Why?"
"Do you two have the same eyes?'
"Yep. Did you meet her?"
"I'm pretty sure I did. She said her husband just had a hip replacement because of arthritis. She said he waited so long that he couldn't walk anymore."
"That's sounds like my dad, the procrastinator. So yeah, I'm more like her. Was anyone else around?"
"I didn't see anyone."
"Well, I guess I'm gonna have to deal with them sometime."
"What your dad's name?"
"Jim."
"When was the last time you saw them?"
"Just before my divorce."
"She seems like a very sweet woman."
"They've probably disowned me by now."
"Don't talk like that."
"None of them ever checked on me or anything after the divorce."
"No matter what happened then or what happens now, I love you and so does Jenna. Your ex was wrong for keeping your daughter from you and so were her grandparents. She does know that you would have fought for her if you had known about her."
"I love you too. Do you think your son would have liked me?"
"He would have loved you. I think my dad would have too."
Ed unpacked his stuff and then they both got ready for bed. Then they went to bed.
Back in Chicago, Olivia and Erin had both fallen asleep before the movie over and Hank and Jay were just arriving back at the house. Hank let Captain out before locking up and then they both headed upstairs. Erin was asleep next to Olivia. Jay went in and moved Erin to put her in their bed before he went to check on Nadia. Hank got ready for bed and then got into bed with Olivia. Jay had gotten ready for bed and got into bed with Erin.
The next morning, everyone got up and got ready for the day. Hank helped Olivia in the shower and then he re-bandaged her wound. While Olivia was getting dressed, Hank went to get the kids up but Jay already had them up, while Erin was feeding Nadia. Justin had come up and started breakfast, while Olive was feeding Millie. He had also let Captain out and fed him. Hank had gone downstairs with Noah and Lexie.
"Morning."
"Morning, Dad. How's mom?"
"She's doin' better but it still hurts. Fin and Melinda were comin' over today, so she was lookin' forward to that."
"It's always a good thing when her friends are around."
"It is and Meredith will be here too."
"Olive is planning to take Daniel to Preschool and add Meredith to the pickup list."
"Ok. Olivia called and added Ed yesterday, since he took Noah and picked him up. Hopefully Alyssa will be back in the next day or so."
Olivia got down the stairs by herself.
"Hi Mommy."
"Morning, sweetie."
"Mama!"
"Hey, you!"
Then Daniel came upstairs.
"Hi."
"Morning, buddy."
Hank kissed Olivia and then helped her to sit.
"How are you feeling, Mommy?"
"It still hurts but I'm better."
"Good."
"Uncle Fin and Auntie Mel are coming over today."
"Are we going anywhere?"
"Probably not unless they want to take you somewhere."
"When are we gettin' the pool ready?"
"They're coming to maintain it sometime this week I think. Hopefully it'll be ready to go."
"Memorial Day weekend is this weekend."
"Yep and it's also someone's birthday."
"Me!"
"We know whose birthday it is."
"How old are you gonna be?"
"Thwee."
"Wow!"
Once breakfast was ready and everyone was downstairs, they all ate. Meredith had arrived and then everyone left for work after Hank kissed Olivia and the kids. Olive left later, so she could take Daniel to Preschool. Fin and Melinda arrived as well, so they could spend some time with Olivia.
Meanwhile in New York, everyone had had breakfast and were headed to the hospital. Ed was a little nervous because it had been so long, since he had seen his parents. When they arrived, he took Maggie's hand as they walked into the hospital. They all headed to Paul's room first. Claire saw Maggie.
"Maggie, come meet Jim."
Maggie went into the room but so far, Ed stayed out in the hallway.
"Maggie, this is my husband Jim. Jim, this is Maggie Tucker."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too."
Maggie looked behind her and Ed was standing in the hallway against the wall.
"Get in here!"
"That's ok. Maybe later."
Maggie rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"I know that voice."
Claire went out into the hallway.
"Apparently you're still stubborn. Give me a hug."
Ed put his arms around Claire and gave her a hug.
"I've missed you, you know."
"I've missed you too."
Claire took Ed into the room.
"Hey, Pop."
"Hey, Eddie. It's good to see you."
"You too."
"You're married to this guy?"
"Yep. About a year and a half now. I'll let the 3 of you talk, so I can check on my sister and brother-in-law."
Maggie kissed Ed and then she went to check on Ellen and Paul. Ed sat down and told his parents everything about what had happened since he last saw them, including about Jenna and the boys. He then pulled out his phone and showed them a picture.
"Wow! She really did a number on you, didn't she?"
"Pretty much. I felt like a lot of what happened between us was my fault."
"It wasn't. Your dad and I never blamed you for your marriage falling apart. It happens. You deserved so much better and Maggie seems really nice."
"Maggie is the best thing that has ever happened to me besides my daughter and grandsons. She has helped me establish a relationship with my daughter. Jenna's bitch mother told her that I didn't want her. I told her that if I had known about her, I would have fought for her and protected her from them."
"I don't doubt that."
"I never knew what I was missin' because I never saw myself as the fatherly type but now, I wouldn't change this for anything. Has everyone else been around?"
"None of them are in the area anymore."
"Neither are we. We just moved to Chicago. I retired from the NYPD not quite a year ago. Jenna's husband wanted to be closer to his twin sister and most of Maggie's family is out there now. Her grandson is still here and so are her sister and brother-in-law. Her nieces and nephew are tryin' to convince them to move out there."
"We would love to meet our granddaughter and great grandsons sometime. How long has she been married?"
"Just a year. The boys' biological father told her he wasn't with his wife anymore but she found out he was lyin' about that. She never told him about the boys though because she didn't want him takin' them away from her. Her husband made it official with them too."
"What does she do?"
"She's a cop."
"Wow! Maggie has been married before?"
"No."
Then Maggie came back in.
"How's is going in here?"
"Not too bad."
"We just asked if you had been married before."
"No. I was raped at 15 and decided to keep the baby. He was my entire life for 25 years. He was a firefighter with the FDNY and died on 9/11."
"I am so sorry to hear that."
"Thanks. I found out almost 2 years ago that I had a teenage grandson. She knew she was pregnant when my son died and when I had had the memorial service for him but she wasn't sure how to tell me. We were at the 9/11 Memorial and ran into them. I thought I had seen a ghost the first time I saw my grandson. He looks just like his dad and he has a big heart like his dad. She named him Kevin after his dad. His mom got married last year and her husband adopted him. They had a baby and Kevin just loves being a big brother."
Maggie pulled out her phone and found a picture of Kevin and Lucie.
"That's Kevin and that's Lucie. We're grandparents to Lucie as well, so they have 3 grandmas and 2 grandpas."
"How's everything with Ellen?"
"She's still a little out of it but from what it sounds like, they'll have her up tomorrow. PJ left to get a shower and change. Paul should be able to go home today after they put his cast on. Jen, Tracy and PJ want to start going through stuff in their house."
"How long are you and Pauline plannin' to stay?"
"We'll probably stay through the weekend. How long was Kathy planning to stay?"
"She didn't say."
"How big is your family?"
"I'm the youngest of 3 sisters. My oldest sister Ellen, the one the hospital, has 2 daughters and a son and 8 almost 9 grandkids. My nieces each have 4 boys and my nephew and his wife are expecting their first. They're having a girl. My sister Pauline has 2 daughters and they both have 5 kids. Her oldest daughter has 4 boys and just had a girl a few months ago. Her youngest daughter has 3 girls and twin boys. The boys are adopted. Lisa's best friend and her husband were killed in a car accident about 2 years ago and they wanted her to take the boys. Her husband adopted her daughter after they got married and they have twin girls. I just had the one but I'm now Mom to Jenna. Lisa is the most like my dad. He was a cop and she also became a cop. Lisa's husband Trevor and Sarah's husband Greg have been best friends since college and law school. Trevor and Lisa actually met at Sarah and Greg's wedding but she didn't remember it because she was drinking with Kevin and PJ. Besides me, Kevin's death was the hardest on Lisa and PJ. Everyone had a hard time with it especially my mom. She never thought she would ever have to bury one of her grandchildren before her. She helped raise him, while I finished school."
"That would be hard for any grandmother. We don't even see any of our grandkids any more. We were never included when any of them got married. Not even your sisters are around."
"That sucks that you've had to go through this by yourself."
"We'd like to be a part of your life again."
"I want that too. I would love for you to meet Jenna and the boys."
"Maybe when Jim is doing better, you two can come to visit us in Chicago."
"We'd like that."
"Are you still livin' in the same house?"
"Yep. We've been thinking about wanting to downsize and move into a Senior Living facility but they're too expensive. Jim's going to have to be in a rehab facility before he can come home though."
"You won't live closer to one of the girls?"
"Are you kidding? One is in Florida and the other one is in California. Your brother is in Arizona."
The Therapist came in to walk Jim around, so Ed and Maggie walked with them. Paul was coming back from having his cast put on and Steve was with him.
"These two are Ed's parents, Claire and Jim. These are my brothers-in-law Paul and Steve."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
"I just talked to Lisa. Rita is still in pain, which is to be expected. She was on her way to get David at the airport. The baby kept Sarah up all night and Greg had to leave early, so Trevor took his brothers to school and Lisa dropped Adam and Tyler off. She took the girls over to Hank and Olivia's for right now and I guess she's picking up the 3 boys. I guess Max and Alice are dealing with the other 8."
Then Pauline, Jen and Tracy came out of Ellen's room and Maggie introduced them to Ed's parents. Steve told them what was going on in Chicago.
"I'll be surprised if I make it to the weekend."
"It's only Tuesday and it's been a crappy week."
"I know it has."
Everyone except Ed and Maggie went back into Ellen's room. PJ had come back and everyone stayed at the hospital for a while.
The morning was going by quickly. Meredith had gone to get Daniel at Preschool and then she came back with him. Lisa had gone to get the boys and took them over to Hank and Olivia's. When she arrived, she rang the doorbell. Meredith answered it.
"Hey, Lisa."
"Hey. Ok, guys, go find everyone else."
Adam, Tyler and Ben went to find the other kids.
"Where's Liv?"
"She's upstairs."
"Is she asleep?"
"No. I think she's just resting. Fin and Melinda are there too."
Lisa went upstairs to Hank and Olivia's bedroom.
"Hey."
"Hey."
Lisa came in and got on the bed next to Olivia.
"Thank you for allowing me to bring them over."
"No problem. I think Fin and Melinda are planning to take the older kids to Navy Pier."
"They'll like that. Benjamin is here too."
"Is Trevor still at the hospital?"
"He went in for a little while now that David is here. They had some big contract they were working on. Meanwhile I'm running around like a crazy person with the kids."
"How's your aunt?"
"She's still in pain according to my dad."
"I hope she feels better soon. Alyssa is feeling better today, so she's figuring she'll be back tomorrow. If she is and you need Meredith to help out, let her know."
"I'll take that into consideration. Thanks."
"No problem."
"I need to go back to work to recover from all this running around I've been doing."
Then Lisa's phone rang. It was Trevor, so she answered it.
"Hey."
"Hey. You busy for lunch?"
"Not really. I'm at Hank and Olivia's right now. I just picked up the boys and brought them over here. I'll take Ben home later once the others are home."
"How's Olivia?"
"She's doing ok. Aunt Ellen is still in pain according to my dad. Did you get everything done?"
"Yeah, we did. Olive is finishing it up now and then once we review it, I should be able to get out of here. Why don't I just meet you at home?"
"That sounds like a plan to me."
"Ok. I'll let you know when I'm leaving."
"Ok. I love you."
"I love you too."
Lisa hung up.
"He's meeting me at home for lunch."
"That's good."
"I did find out from my dad that PJ and Steph are having a girl. Jen and Tracy are thrilled about it. That is so exciting for them. I'm glad I'm not the only one with girls anymore."
"That is great news!"
They talked for a while longer and then Fin and Melinda left with the older kids. Kathy and Lizzie were also meeting them with the kids. Trevor let Lisa know he was leaving work, so she left and headed home. The rest of the day went quickly. Hank picked up something for dinner on the way home and then they all spent time together as a family.
The rest of the week was uneventful. Internal Affairs said the shoot was justified, so Dickie could go back to full duty. Paul had been released from the hospital on Tuesday and they went to visit Ellen a couple at a time. Ed and Maggie spent time with his parents making up for lost time and they also spent some time with the Barbas. By the end of the week, Jim was being released and moved to a rehab facility to continue with his therapy before he could go home. Fin and Melinda went back to New York after a couple of days. By the time Sunday arrived, Jen and Tracy were the only ones that had stayed in New York but they had gotten a lot done, while their brother, sister-in-law, aunts and uncles were there. Once Ed and Maggie were back in Chicago, Kathy went back to Seattle. Ed and Maggie had gone over to Hank and Olivia's. When they arrived, they rang the doorbell. Hank answered it.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"Come on in."
"Thanks."
Olivia was in the family room.
"Hey."
"Welcome back."
"Thanks."
"So, you ran into your parents?"
"I did. Actually, Maggie did. I was surprised that none of my siblings are in the area. They're planning to come visit once my dad is doin' better but we're plannin' to go back out there in a few weeks once Josh and Jordan are out of school to see my parents and Ellen and Paul. Maggie and I were actually talkin' that maybe we'll see if they'd be interested in eventually movin' here."
"As in in with you?"
"Yeah."
"So, then things went well for you then?"
"Yeah. I'm glad Maggie got us back together. They met Jenna and the boys on the phone. I video chatted with them and introduced them. Jenna said they can't wait to meet them in person. Kevin met them when he came to the hospital with us."
"Good. How's Ellen?"
"She's been doing a lot better. She was moved to a rehab yesterday. We heard Rita was too."
"That's what we heard."
"You're doin' better?"
"Yeah. It still hurts a little bit but I should be able to go back to work this week. I take it you talked to Dickie."
"I did. I figured that would have been the outcome."
"He was still at the District but coverin' the desk when Trudy wasn't on shift."
"That sounds about right. Did you do whatever it was you were doin' with Novak and Cabot?"
"I did. I needed to get out of the house anyway."
"Good."
"It's too quiet in here."
"Erin, Jay, Olive and Justin took all the kids up to the Wisconsin Dells for the entire weekend. They left yesterday morning and are comin' back tomorrow sometime. We celebrated Daniel's birthday as a family on Friday. It's been a quiet weekend for both squads for once."
"That's what Jenna said. Dickie's workin', so she had some time with the boys. So, you two are enjoyin' some quiet time?"
"Oh, yeah. If only I wasn't restricted from physical activity for another week."
"Is your pool ready?"
"Yeah but it's still a little too cool to use it. Hopefully it'll warm up by the time they're done with school. That was one of the reasons why they decided to take them up to the Dells because the boys wanted to go swimming."
"At least it keeps them active."
"Yeah, that's true but they're so full of energy anyway."
"The boys are too. I take it you talked to Rafael and the Carisis, right?"
"I did. Fin texted everyone to let them know what had happened. I also heard from Don and Munch. Munch had to give me a hard time as well. I told Fin that he's a bad influence on Noah."
"How long did Tutuola and Warner stay?"
"They left Wednesday. Tuesday they took the older kids to Navy Pier, which included Lisa's three and Ben. Kathy met them there with the boys and Lizzie was there with hers too."
"The boys said they had a good time with Grandma."
"She was looking forward to getting home to her kids though."
"I can imagine."
"I'm glad that despite everything, you and Dickie seem to have a good relationship."
"I don't hold who his father was against him. He's a good kid and he treats Jenna and the boys well. That's all I care about."
"She told their biological dad where to go, right?"
"Pretty much, yeah. She told him he has lied to her too many times and she doesn't trust him. She's happier than she has ever been and she doesn't want him ruinin' that for her. She then changed her number, so he can't contact her any longer. Her grandparents know never to discuss her or the boys with him or his family. When she last talked to her grandma, she told her that he was around and his wife was there. She knew he was lyin' again. Every time he claimed he and his wife were over, she'd turn up pregnant."
"He's probably cheated on his wife with someone else."
"No doubt."
"That's typical."
"She does not want him near any of them."
"Her situation reminds me a lot of Lisa's. Lisa does not want Eric's mother to know about Emily. Like Lisa said, the only proof she'd be able to get would be a paternity test. His mother always thought she was so much better than everyone else. Lisa was never good enough for her son. She really lucked out when she fell for Trevor."
"Exactly. It would be the same thing with the boys. She didn't want anything from him. He would more than likely try to turn the boys against her just like Jenna's mom did with me."
"She knows you would have fought for her and not allowed her mother and that idiot she was married to do what they did to her."
"Yeah, you're right."
They kept talking and then Ed and Maggie went home. Hank fixed dinner for himself and Olivia. After dinner, they found a movie to watch and after the movie was over, they went to bed. The next day, they both ended up having to go in but Olivia was on desk duty. Later that day, Erin, Jay, Olive, Justin and the kids came home.
