Several weeks later, it was the Fourth of July. The Barbas were in town and Ed's parents had come in as well as Jenna's other grandparents. Hank and Olivia were having both squads, the group from 51 and Lisa's entire family, including Trevor's parents, over for a barbeque and pool party. Lisa and Trevor's dads had both recently retired.
"It is such a perfect day today."
"It is and for once, it's been quiet."
"Shhhhhhh! That's all we need is to have to have a case."
"We were so happy that we were actually off for the holiday."
"We get such weird calls sometimes."
"We do."
"Is anyone going to go watch the fireworks later?"
"Hank and I want to take the kids and watch them from the beach if we can."
"That sounds like fun. Hopefully the weather will hold up."
"I hope so.
"I'm thinkin' about takin' my boat out and watchin' them from there if anyone is interested."
"That might be a possibility too."
Then Lizzie, Kevin and the kids arrived with Kathy, Jack and the kids. Eli and Olivia went to join the other kids.
"Hey, everyone."
"Hey, Kathy. I thought you were coming sooner."
"We had planned on it but we decided to get married instead."
"What! Congratulations!"
"Thank you."
"Dickie and Lizzie never said anything."
"I told all of them not to say anything to anyone. He called the four older kids individually and asked if it was ok and he took Eli and Olivia when he picked out the ring. He actually proposed when I got back after I was here the last time. We just decided to do it and get it over with. We flew to Reno and met Maureen and her family. She took Eli and Olivia while we went on our honeymoon. Maureen had her sisters and brother on video chat, so they saw us get married even though they weren't there. That was actually when Dickie and Jenna were visiting with Bernie and Kathleen. This is Jack, by the way. Jack, this is Olivia Voight and her husband Hank."
"It's nice to meet you, Olivia. I've heard a lot about you."
"It's nice to meet you too."
"How's Olivia handling all this?"
"She's doing ok. She loves Jack but he's not pushing to make things official with them. He'll let them decide. They both know he loves them and that's all that really matters. It's still kind of soon for them after losing Elliot. Eli is still trying to figure out his feelings. When Jack called Kathleen, she happened to be visiting Bernie, so he also talked to her. He told her he loved her grandchildren like they were his own. She told him that he didn't have to convince her. The way the kids talked about him, she already knew that. She told him she couldn't wait to meet him in person."
"Grandma has been surprisingly supportive of all this."
"She gets along pretty well with Ed too, so go figure that."
Kathy introduced Jack to everyone and Ed introduced them to his parents. Olivia joined Kevin, Lizzie, Kyle and Alex.
"Kyle and Kevin, where are your parents?"
"With our sister of course. We're expecting them to move closer to her. They're gone more than they're home anymore. Lizzie and I are looking for a place. Lizzie has been having a hard time after what happened."
"That's to be expected."
"Any possibilities?"
"We found a place we like that's close to Kyle and Alex."
"Erin and Jay found a place they really like too and it's not too far from us. They made an offer, so we'll see what happens."
"Are Olive and Justin talking about moving out any time soon?"
"No. We're fine with them staying, since they have their own space. We're running out of room upstairs and they're almost ready to move Nadia into her own space."
"If this place you're interested in falls through, you can always stay with us until you find something."
"Thanks for the offer."
Then Kathy, Dickie and Jenna came over to them.
"Hey, Sweetie."
"Hey, Mom. How's married life?"
"It's been great. Have you heard about that house you put the bid on?"
"Not yet but we're hoping we'll hear something soon."
"If you need help with anything, let us know."
"Thanks, we will."
"You and Jenna too."
"Thanks but we're good. We've been really happy in the new house so far and her parents haven't indicated that they're tired of us or the boys yet."
"Jenna, have your grandparents made a decision yet?"
"I think they are planning to move in with us. Dad's glad that Mom brought them back into his life."
"I think it's been good for him."
"It really has."
"Lizzie got up and went into the washroom."
"Is she really ok?"
"She's taking things one day at a time."
"I've been spending as much time with her as I can but it's not easy with my schedule sometimes."
"She appreciates it though. It seems like you two have gotten closer since that incident."
"I've noticed that too."
"We recently found out that she's pregnant again, so she was pregnant when she went through that ordeal. You're the first ones we've told."
"Kevin, that's great! Congratulations!"
"Thanks."
"Congrats, Bro! We're really happy for you."
"Thanks, Ky."
"It must be a twin thing because we are too."
"Detective Tucker, you are going on desk duty effective immediately."
"Yes, Ma'am."
Kathy hugged Kevin, Dickie and Jenna and then Lizzie came back.
"Sweetie, Kevin just told us your news."
"He has a big mouth."
"I thought we were telling people now, since you're in the second trimester."
"If it makes you feel any better, my niece or nephew will have a cousin or two very close in age. Jenna is 15 weeks."
"No way! I'm also at 15 weeks."
"More like two."
"Oh boy! Two sets of twins?"
"Yep but I'm hoping for girls this time. I was so sick when I was pregnant with the boys and so far, it hasn't been too bad."
"I want girls too. We knew it was bound to happen because I'm a twin."
"I've been noticing that I'm bigger this time than I was with both Molly and Nicky. I have an appointment coming up. Are you definitely sure it's twins?"
"We had an ultrasound done already. They were both visible."
"If you're bigger this time than you were with both Molly and Nicky and even if you've had an ultrasound done, it's quite possible one is hiding. When I was pregnant with you two, that happened."
Then Joe came over by them.
"How's everything going?"
"Good."
"Good."
"We haven't told my parents or the boys yet but we're expecting."
"I kind of figured. I'm happy for you, kiddo. You deserve this after what you went through with the boys."
"The last time he contacted me, I told him that I did not want to hear from him ever again nor did I want him talking to my grandparents. I basically threatened to have him arrested."
"The last I talked to Dave, which was last night, he said he, his wife and the kids were visiting his family."
"He tells me what he thinks I want to hear and must think I'm that stupid. As much as I love the boys, what happened between me and their sperm donor was a mistake."
"You sound like Lisa. She was not too pleased when Maggie told her that Pauline had a run in with her ex's mother."
"She and I are always talking about that. I didn't tell you the other news."
"What's that?"
"Twins again."
"That's great."
"Did you deliver the boys?"
"I did."
"Do you miss it?"
"That part of it, yes but I get to spend more time with Rita and the grandkids."
"When I convinced Hank to take the Lieutenant's exam, I had wanted to cut down somewhat. I try to but then something happens."
Then Lisa, Pauline and Maggie came over with Rita. Rita sat down.
"I'm always willing to help out wherever I'm needed."
"And I appreciate that."
"It looks like all my grandparents are hitting it off."
"They are."
"It looks like Jack and your dad are hitting it off too. Although, that doesn't surprise me, since they have something in common."
"Don't even get Jack started on your dad."
"Don't get my dad started on his dad."
"Don't get Hank started on Elliot either."
"Trevor never liked him."
"I know he didn't. Last year in Hawaii when I hurt my foot, I never thought I would ever admit that I trusted Ed Tucker and Trevor Langan over the man I once trusted with my life. His lack of contact between the shooting in the Squadroom and meeting in Hawaii last year didn't help. Ed said he tried getting him to contact me when he first put his papers in."
"I tried getting him to contact you when we moved to Seattle."
"He always did do whatever he wanted anyway."
"Yep."
"The older boys are so good with the younger kids."
"They are. When Amy and the kids were staying with us, the girls loved spending time with our kids."
Maggie saw Kevin in the pool with Lucie.
"That warms my heart."
"He is so good with her."
"He is. I can't believe he's 16. The older he gets, the more he's like his dad."
Then Michelle joined them.
"Seeing Kevin with his sister just warms my heart."
"It does. It's fine if it's his sister but I'm definitely not ready for him to have one of his own yet. They're both pretty responsible. They've both realized that they don't want to be with anyone but each other, so we'll see."
"Trevor and Ashley are like that too. Gregory is still pushing him to go to Yale but Sarah basically told him that the more he pushes him to go where he wants him to go, the more he's going to rebel and then possibly get his girlfriend pregnant just to stay with her."
"That's a good way of putting it. Rita and I both went to Yale and we told the boys wherever they went was their decision. Trevor knew he was going to become a lawyer like his mother and I had sort of hoped David would have followed me and gone into medicine. School always came easy to Trevor and he chose to go to Yale. David was a good student until college. He started slacking off, not going to class or doing the work. He really didn't know what he wanted to do with his life other than screwing around with his brother's then girlfriend. Once he finally he got his act together and decided he wanted to be a firefighter, we couldn't have been prouder of him. He also wanted to do right by his kids. He didn't want Amy being the one exclusively supporting the family."
"It was the twins she tried telling Trevor he was the father of?"
"Yep. Tommy is the one that looks just like Trevor though."
"It's not like Trevor and David don't look like brothers."
"They definitely do. I'm glad the boys worked things out though. Both Dave and Amy regretted what they did."
"Trevor helped me have a better relationship with my mom and I know a lot of that was because I'm just like my grandpa. Although I've been told that I'm a lot like Aunt Maggie."
"I never got over losing him and I don't want to lose you the same way. I should have been more supportive of your situation, since you were trying to raise your daughter on your own. That's one of the reasons I think you're a lot like Margaret because she was definitely a better mother to Kevin than I was to you. You a great job with Em."
"So, you admit that I am like her."
"Yep."
"I've also been told Emily is a lot like her too."
"All the women in this family are feisty."
"Even though Kevin was my entire life, sometimes I feel like I could have been a better mother to him."
"What happened to you wasn't your fault."
"You've been a better mom to me over the last year and a half than my so-called mother ever was to me. She didn't give a shit about me. She lied to me about why Dad wasn't in my life and then she allowed that bastard she was married to do stuff to me. Maybe your son wasn't in your life as long as you had hoped he would have been but you were brought into my life for a reason. You didn't have to love me but you did and you became an instant grandma to my rambunctious sons. I didn't ask to be a single mom either. I got to the point where I thought no one would want me because I had too much baggage. I just have a hard time trusting people because I've been hurt so much."
"You sound like your dad. He told me he joined Internal Affairs because he had a hard time trusting people and that confirmed it."
"I can understand that."
"I thought that about me too. Until I met Hank, I sucked at relationships. I never wanted to be the other woman in a relationship."
"Unfortunately, I was and I'm sure he never told his wife either. It does make me wonder if he has more kids with other women. He always thought he was so wonderful in bed but he was not. He was only concerned with satisfying himself and he had a very high opinion of himself in general. Thankfully I was only with him the one time and the next time I was with someone was Dickie. Before that even happened, I told him everything and I knew then that he was a keeper. I wanted to know that I could trust him before I made another mistake."
"I was the one that asked your dad out, which was brave for me. Other than my dad, friends of my parents', my brothers-in-law, my son, my nephew, my nephews-in-law, my nieces' boys and my son's friends, I was never comfortable around men because of what happened. I had all I could do to get through the rest of high school and I knew what was being said about me. It was my choice to keep my son. The father of the guy that raped me told me to get rid it. I could have but as it turned out, that was my only chance to be a mother. I'm the one that waited so long to get into a relationship. I also had issues when my dad died and of course when my son died too. After Kevin died, a part of me didn't even want to be here anymore. Thankfully my family got me through it and made sure I got the help I needed."
"Mom had a hard time after Kevin died too. We all did. She said as a grandma, you never expect one of your grandchildren to go before you. She kind of always expected it with Dad because of his job."
"It was still hard when it happened to Dad."
"It was."
"Whatever happened with Chief McCormick?"
"The trial starts next week."
"Jenna did ask for time off. Is Dickie going for support?"
"No but Dad is. They also want him to testify."
"He's still denying everything. John Buchanan is his lawyer."
"He's an ass."
"He is. When I told Rafael that, he just rolled his eyes."
"Rafa can't stand him."
"Yeah, I know. Jack McCoy is taking the case."
"Ooooh! Is Barth the Judge?"
"She is."
"Is the ADA for SVU any good?"
"She's great but Jack wanted this case. Rafael said he would have given the case up for Jack too."
"Did Rafael tell you about Chief Patton?"
"He and Amanda both did. Jack wants Chief McCormick behind bars."
"He has gotten away with too much. It's time he pays for what he's done. If it had been up to Ed, he would have had his badge taken away a long time ago."
"That's what Chief Dodds is hoping for. Most of the other Chiefs want him out. They did find out that he was the one calling Jenna."
Jenna heard her phone and checked it. She didn't recognize the number, so she didn't answer it. They left a message, so she checked it.
"Michelle, you might want to hear this."
Jenna put her phone on speaker and then played it again.
"Someone is definitely threatening you if you testify at the trial. It doesn't sound like Chief McCormick though."
"It could be his kid or one of his cronies."
"That's true too. Can I get this on something, so I can give it to Jack?"
"Yeah, sure."
Olivia saw Justin.
"JUSTIN."
Justin walked over to them.
"What's goin' on, Mom?"
"Can you or Mouse save a message from Jenna's phone onto something else, so Michelle can get it to the DA?"
"Sure."
Jenna went with Justin, while Michelle called Jack to let him know what was going on. Jack told her he wanted something sent as soon as they could. Michelle told him they were working on it. Dickie went to tell Ed what was going on. When Jenna came back, they told Ed and Maggie that she was pregnant. Ed told them that he would do everything he could to protect her while they were in New York for the trial. Michelle sent Jack the recording of the message Jenna had gotten. Olivia was sitting on the edge of the pool with her feet in the water. Ed saw her and came over.
"Hey."
"Hey. I hope they get that son of a bitch behind bars for good."
"I do too. He has abused his power long enough and you would think that because he told the tech to delete the footage showin' his son bein' responsible for the accident, that would be enough."
Then Rafael and Michelle joined them.
"You two talking about the McCormick case?"
"Yep."
"From what Jack has said, there is a lot of evidence against him. Technically, he was told that he or anyone connected to him couldn't contact Jenna."
"Whoever this was, is threatening prosecution witnesses."
"That's exactly what's goin' on because she won't back down and neither will the person who initially said he sexually assaulted her. They followed protocol. Why the hell didn't I follow through on my investigation?"
"Because the charges were dropped."
"I think he's only doin' this to her to get back at me. I don't want to see somethin' happen to her or my unborn grandchildren."
"You know better than anyone that there are people in the NYPD that like to abuse their power and it's been like that for a long time. Chief McCormick is one of them and it has to stop. You were one of my least favorite people to deal with and it took me years to admit this but you did your job well. You're the one that doesn't take any crap from anyone and everyone was always guilty until proven innocent with you. You need to be that person with this case. I'm sure you've got notes that never got into his official file because the charges were conveniently dropped because you're so thorough with your investigations."
"She's right. I've only been with the NYPD a couple years and I've noticed how it is. All police departments are like that though."
"Liv, you're right. That son of a bitch of goin' down!"
"I'm sure my IAB file with the NYPD is pretty thick."
"Not as bad as Stabler's or Amaro's."
Hank came over and sat next to Olivia. Then he kissed her.
"You've been busy with everything."
"I know. I needed a break."
"I see you got Trevor doing the cooking on the grill."
"Yep. We should be eatin' soon."
PJ and Stephanie had been in the pool and PJ was playing with the kids. He was under water and pushing Lexie over to Hank and Olivia. She was giggling as she kicked her feet.
"Is PJ playing with you?"
"Yeah!"
Then PJ came up from under the water.
"Thank you for keeping an eye on her."
"You're welcome. She's a little sweetie."
Lexie smiled at PJ and then she looked up at Hank.
"Dada!"
Hank reached down and picked her up as Olivia got her out of her pool float.
"You hungry?"
"Yeah!"
Olivia went to get Lexie's towel to dry her off and then they told Noah and Daniel it was about time to eat. The kids got something to eat first and then everyone else got something. By the time it started getting dark, some of them decided to go to the beach to watch the fireworks and some of the ones from the fire station went out on Kelly's boat to watch them. By the time the fireworks were over, the Voights and Halsteads went home and the kids all had quick baths before bed. The adults took showers before bed as well.
The next day when mostly everyone was at work, Ed went through his files and got what information he needed for the case. Michelle and Rafael had come over and they even Skyped with Jack and IAB to discuss things. Jack wondered if maybe the people who had filed complaints against Chief McCormick before would be willing to talk to them. Michelle told him he could always contact Fin and if there were any problems to let her know.
The rest of the week went pretty fast. Both Hank's squad and Olivia's squad stayed busy but Olivia was still able to spend time with the Barbas and Kathy, Jack and the kids before they all left. Ed and Jenna had gotten on the same flight with his parents and they were planning to stay with them. Jen and Tracy were going back to see Paul and Ellen and help them pack stuff. Jenna's other grandparents wanted to be closer and looked at 55+ communities while they were there. They both knew the house was getting to be too much for them and Jenna was pretty much the only family they had. After Ed and Jenna left, Maggie, Dickie and the boys went over to Hank and Olivia's. Al, Meredith, Trudy, Mouch, Trevor, Lisa, Pauline, Steve Rita, Joe and the kids were over as well. Sarah, Greg and their family were heading out of town for vacation for the next week
"Hopefully things go well with the case."
"I think they got him this time. Apparently all the people that had filed charges and dropped them were more than happy to talk to the DA. They all admitted he threatened them. I'm glad to see that Jenna was not intimidated by him and refused to back down. She's definitely a Tucker."
"That's for sure."
"I'm glad George and Vivian agreed to move here to be closer to Jenna and the boys."
"Me too. They are such nice people. I'm glad they're on speaking terms with Ed after everything that happened and they got along great with Claire and Jim."
"They found a place?"
"Yeah. They looked at some 55+ communities in the area and found one they liked that's really not that far from us. The place they found has all the levels of care in case they need it. Money didn't seem to be an issue for them."
"They'll get good money for that house. Everything was updated 5 years ago. They did theirs right after we did ours because we used the same person. They don't have the guest house like we do though but they have a pool."
"I take it you dealt with Real Estate."
"I did. I'm glad to see my son doing more than just being a criminal defense attorney."
"Which is why he and I never got along. He always defended the people I wanted sent to prison. He wasn't so bad when I was the person he was defending and when he was helping me with the adoption."
"I'm glad he went that route."
"I am too."
"Jack seems nice."
"He's great. All we want is for Mom to be happy and she definitely is. Lizzie and I would love for them to move here but she doesn't want it to look like she's favoring us over Maureen and Kathleen. We all live either with or near our in-laws. I really hope Lizzie and Kevin get that house."
"So, you two are in charge of the kids tonight?"
"All but Nadia. Erin and Jay took her over to Pat's. Will, Nat and Owen were gonna be there too. Justin and Olive were gonna go out for dinner and a movie or somethin' like that."
"Erin and Jay heard from the Realtor. The owners of the house they were interested in accepted their bid, so they are really excited about that. They won't be too far away, so if we get calls in the middle of the night, they can still drop Nadia off here with Olive."
"They can always call me too. Usually if Alvin gets a call in the middle of the night, I wake up anyway."
"That's the problem with Jenna and Dickie. There are times when he has to cover for someone, so he'll work overnight and Jenna gets called at 2 or 3 in the morning. Now all she has to do is get up and go. If they get their own place, then they'd have to worry about dropping them off. It's hard enough for them to go anywhere with two kids. I can't imagine them trying to do it with four kids. I had a hard enough time with one."
"Right now there's four adults and two kids but soon enough it'll be four and four. I'm not surprised we're having twins though, since I am a twin."
"I went from having one kid to five in less than a year and we are more than likely going through this again."
"Wait, what?"
"I've been having morning sickness since early that week when Trevor and I went to New York to visit Aunt Ellen and Uncle Paul. Even though I haven't had it confirmed yet, I've been on desk duty. I go in in a few weeks. I just don't want twins again."
"We'll deal with whatever happens when it happens. Ok?"
"Ok."
Trevor kissed Lisa.
"Do the boys ever ask about their real parents?"
"We go to the cemetery all the time. We encourage them to remember their real parents on their birthdays, Mother's Day and Father's Day."
"Hank and Justin still do that with Camille."
"Are you ever going to tell Noah about his real parents?"
"Maybe when he's old enough to understand. How do you tell your son that his real father was a criminal and his real mother was a prostitute and a drug addict?"
"Does he know he's adopted?"
"He does. In the Judge's chambers, I promised that I would treat him as I would any biological child I might have had. At that point, I never expected to have any biological children. I love Justin and Erin like they were my own too."
"I definitely never expected Justin to accept you as quickly as he did."
"We accepted Jack in Mom's life because we wanted her to be happy. The smartest thing she did was divorcing Dad."
"She wanted to before she was even pregnant with your brother but he kept putting off signing the papers."
"I know. She still should have left him though. They never would have had Olivia."
"As much as I love having you and your siblings back in my life, I wish I had never run into your dad in Hawaii. A part of me had wondered how I would react to seeing him again but after that, if I had never seen him again, I would have been very happy."
"I can understand that. He kept saying that he wanted to be a part of the boys' lives but yet he couldn't accept the fact that Jenna was the daughter of someone he couldn't stand."
"Your mom and I talked about this when we had lunch the other day. Last summer she told me that your dad wanted to get back together. Thinking about it, I wonder if that was part of his plan to get Olivia away from her. Your mom said she wouldn't be surprised if it was."
"I wouldn't be surprised either. The only person's happiness he ever cared about was his own. You would think that he would have been happy that you found someone and were very happy."
"Oh no, of course not. He thought the only man who could make me happy was him. It seemed like he changed like the wind though. He would act like an ass but the next time I'd see him he'd be fine and say he's fine with being friends."
"That would be a good way to describe it. Grandma said he had to have been bipolar."
"Ed was thinking the same thing. He'd be fine and offering to spend time with the boys or help pay for something but then he'd be completely different the next time."
"Dad would never admit to anything that made him look bad. Everything was always someone else's fault. My sister Kathleen is bipolar and she takes her meds. Her meds had to be readjusted both times she was pregnant and her husband has been nothing but supportive. Grandma deals with hers the best she can too. Now that she's living closer to Kathleen, they're closer than they've been in a long time. She loves Jenna and the boys. She loves all of her great grandchildren and she just lights up when she sees them."
"She and your mom seem pretty close."
"They've gotten closer since the divorce. Mom wanted to maintain a relationship with her for Eli and Olivia. I hope she likes Jack as much as we do. She really likes Ed and she knows that he's the one that always threatened to take Dad's badge. She even said Dad deserved it because of his temper. I'm really trying not to be like him but I'm not sorry I killed that guy though."
"We've all been there. I wasn't sorry when I beat William Lewis within an inch of his life. You were protecting your mother and sister. I doubt if Hank had been the one that killed him, he would have been sorry either."
"You got that right. Not after what he did to you."
"A part of me wishes I could have gone with Jenna. I just don't want her getting stressed out and have something happen to the babies."
"Her dad won't let anything happen to her."
"I know he won't."
"Mr. Buchanan is a piece of work though."
"So I've heard."
"Is everyone in this week?"
"Ruzek is off."
"That's right. He and Burgess were goin' away for a few days."
"Yep. Somethin' like that. Dickie, you wanna come upstairs to Intelligence for a few days?"
"Sure."
Hank's phone rang, so he answered it. He got what info he needed and then he hung up.
"We have a case?"
"Yep."
Hank texted the rest of the team and then he went up to get his badge and gun. He also grabbed Jay's. Al kissed Meredith and left to go get his gun and badge. Dickie kissed the boys and told them to be good for Maggie before he left to go get his gun and badge. Hank came back down and Trudy told him to let her know if they needed her help. Hank kissed Olivia and the kids and then he left to go get Dickie. A little while later, Erin came home with Nadia and she also had Owen.
"Will and Nat had to go in because Med was getting slammed and they needed extra hands. There's a big fire someplace. You can even see the smoke. Helen wanted to get away for a few days, so I told them we'd keep Owen."
"No problem. Hey, Owen."
"Hi."
Owen went over by the other kids.
"Did you have to drop Jay off?"
"He called Dad and he came to pick him up. Will and Nat got called in about the same time Dad texted Jay about the case."
Olivia put the TV on and then turned it to the news.
"That's along the river."
"Yeah, it is. The fact that today has been windy doesn't help matters nor does it help that it's a home improvement store. That looks like it's being goin' for a while and they have to prevent it from spreading to the nearby structures."
The doorbell rang, so Olivia got up to get it. It was Casey, Alex, Lizzie, Sylvie and Gabby.
"Hey."
"Hey. Come on in."
"Thanks."
They all came in and went into the family room.
"Hey, everyone."
"Hey."
"What's Matt up to?"
"He's redoing our bathroom."
"You're not at Molly's tonight?"
"I was there all Friday night and last night. Stella is workin' tonight."
"Did Antonio go to the call with the rest of the unit?"
"He did. He's basically still on light duty though. The 5 of us went out for dinner together, so we figured we'd head over here."
"Kevin is spending some time with the kids and Kyle was over. Is Dickie at work?"
"He's helping Hank for a few days, so yes. Hank asked him if he was interested in helping and he said yes. Right after that, they got the call."
"Good."
"I see Mouch is doin' what he does best."
"Ha, ha! Very funny, Dawson!"
"She's not wrong. He does the same thing at home. He's a good guy though and I'll keep him."
"Thanks."
"So, Kevin and I are almost homeowners. They accepted our bid."
"Congratulations!"
"Thank you. We are so excited."
"Erin and Jay are too."
Everyone talked and then after a while, Hank and Jay came home. Al, Dickie and Antonio were with them.
"That was interesting."
"What?"
"The vic we had was Doug Parker's son Dylan."
"Drugs?"
"Yep. He's married but his wife left him within the last few months because she didn't like his behavior and he had started usin' again. She said she'd be at work and ask him to pick the kids up. He'd never show up to pick them up and when he'd finally show up at home, she knew he was high. She wasn't surprised it was the drugs that killed him but she ID'd him. I need to call Doug, I guess."
Hank went up to the office and then he called Doug. Hank told him about Dylan and he told Hank that both he and Marissa were off tomorrow, so they would come to the Medical Examiner's office and they set a time. Once Hank hung up with him, he contacted the Medical Examiner to let them know what time they'd be there. After Hank hung up, he went back downstairs."
"Are they suspecting heroin laced with fentanyl?"
"Pretty much. They still need to do the toxicology test though. Doug said both he and Marissa were off tomorrow, so they'd come to the ME's office."
Then Olivia got a call about a sexual assault.
"Now, I need to go."
"I'll come with you."
"Thanks, Erin."
Olivia and Erin left and headed to Med. When they arrived, they got out of the SUV and went in.
"She's in there with Dr. Manning."
"Thanks."
Olivia and Erin went into the room where the girl was.
"Dr. Manning."
"Hey. This is Mia Pearson and her mom Vicky. Mia, this is Lieutenant Voight and Detective Halstead."
"Mia, Detective Lindsay and I would like to ask you some questions, while Dr. Manning does the exam. Is that ok?"
"Sure."
"Can you tell us what happened?"
"I was walking home from my parents' house to my apartment, which is only a few blocks away. I walked passed an alley and this guy was leaning against his car drinking and smoking. When I walked by, he just said, 'hey baby'. I just kept going but then he said 'I'm talking to you, Bitch'. I started walking faster but he started chasing me. I tried getting my phone to call my dad, who's a cop but he knocked me to the ground. He took me to his car and stood in front of me as he undid his pants. He forced himself into my mouth first as I fought him. I actually bit him and that pissed him off, so he started hitting me. Before he finished in my mouth, he tore my shorts and panties off and raped me."
Mia had to take some deep breaths.
"It's ok. Take your time."
"The entire time, he had this smirk on his face. After he finished, he threw me out of the car and took off just leaving me there half naked."
"Can you give us a description of the guy?"
"White. Bald. Blue eyes. Maybe early 30's. Maybe 6 feet and approximately 200-250 pounds. He was wearing a plain white tank top, black denim shorts and white Nikes. He's also covered in tattoos. I happened to notice the names Sadie and D.J."
She then gave them the location of where it had happened.
"I hope that helps."
"It should help a lot. Thank you. Here's my card. I will be contacting you when we know something."
"And I'm done here too."
Natalie gave them the rape kit and then after Mia gave them her number, they left. They headed to the lab/Medical Examiner's office. When they arrived, she was performing the autopsy on Dylan. They knocked before they went in.
"Hey, Lieutenant. Detective."
"Hey. We have a rape kit to be tested when you get a chance."
"Sure."
Erin happened to notice that he was covered and tattoos and noticed the names Sadie and D.J. Olivia noticed it too.
"Notice anything?"
"He matches the description of our perp."
"Guess who I need to call?"
"The Lieutenant from Intelligence."
"You got it!"
Erin took a picture and then she and Olivia stepped out of the room, Olivia got her phone out and called Hank.
"Hey."
"Hey. Our perp is your vic. Our vic noticed he had tattoos with the names Sadie and D.J. and he definitely did. We found that out when we dropped the rape kit off to be tested at the lab."
"That still doesn't help us solve our case. So, he rapes someone and then overdoses. Where did the rape happen?"
Olivia told Hank the area where it happened.
"Same area where we found Dylan. It was hard enough tellin' Doug that his son had overdosed but it makes it even worse to know that he was also a rapist."
"He also hadn't seen him for how long? Didn't Doug's first wife pass away the same year as Camille?"
"She did, so he hasn't seen his kid in 8 years. I'm glad things didn't get that bad with Justin and me and that we have a much better relationship now than we ever have. Thanks for that."
"You're welcome. He's Justin's age, right?"
"Yep. They went to school together and up until Dylan started usin' drugs, more than just marijuana, they were friends. Justin was smart enough not to get into drugs. I would have kicked his ass and thrown him in jail myself. You headin' home soon?"
"Hopefully. We just need to fill out our report."
"Ok. Love you."
"I love you too."
Olivia hung up and then the ME caught them before they left.
"Olivia, can you give this to Hank? It's the preliminary toxicology report."
"Sure. I'm guessing he's our perp. She described him perfectly, including the tattoos."
"Ok. I'll do that next, so you can close your case."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Olivia and Erin left and headed to the District to write up their report. After they were done, they headed home. When they arrived, all the kids were in bed. Maggie, Dickie and the boys had already left and so did the Langans and Lisa's parents. Everyone else was still there.
"Everyone is asleep?"
"Yep. We put Owen in with the boys. Camille and Lexie both went right down. I set up the Pack 'n Play in Lexie's room for Camille."
"Ok."
"Did Owen go down ok?"
"He did and so did Nadia."
"Good."
"Here's the preliminary toxicology report from the ME on your vic. I looked at it and made a copy of it for SVU's file."
"Ok, thanks. Was he still alive after he attacked her?"
"Yes. She said her dad was a cop. Her last name is Pearson. That isn't Carl, is it?"
"Yep. I called him for help with the case anyway."
Then the doorbell rang, so Olivia went to answer it.
"Olivia."
"Carl. Come on in."
"Thanks. Sorry to just come by at this hour."
"No big deal."
"I take it you or someone in your unit talked with my daughter?"
"I did and so did Erin. I have not talked to her since then but it appears that the vic from Hank's case is the person who attacked her. We just need to confirm it with the DNA. I know it isn't necessarily justice but she'll get closure knowing that he won't be able to hurt her or anyone again. She described him perfectly even down to the tattoos."
"That's my girl. She's studying Criminal Justice at UIC. She'll be starting her last year this fall."
"Good for her."
They went into the family room.
"Hey, everybody."
"Carl."
"I know I could have waited until tomorrow but after what happened to Mia, I'm a little pissed right now and when I'm pissed, I don't sleep."
"I don't blame you for that."
Hank showed him the preliminary toxicology report.
"Ok, so we are dealing with fentanyl, along with multiple other things. This appears to have more fentanyl than the amounts we normally see. Who is this guy?"
"Dylan Parker. Olinsky, Platt and I went to school with his dad but they had been estranged for 8 years."
"Olivia said that pending the DNA results, he's guy who raped my daughter."
"That's what she said."
"I probably shouldn't be helping out because of that but I will have my unit look into any newer batches of heroin that have gotten into the city and where they might have come from. I'll let you know what we come up with."
"Thanks."
"Did you want me to contact Mia?"
"If you don't mind. It would probably be better if it came from you. Did she give you her number?"
"She did."
"Ok. Goodnight everyone."
"Goodnight."
Hank walked him out, while Olivia called Mia to tell her what they found out. By the time Olivia had hung up, Hank was back.
"He said Mia was studying Criminal Justice at UIC, which probably explains why her description of the guy was so thorough. She'll be starting her last year this fall. Do you want me there when you tell Doug about what happened?"
"Maybe you better tell him that."
"Ok."
"We should probably head home."
"Us too."
Everyone who was leaving left and then Hank let Captain out, while everyone else headed upstairs. Jay and Erin went to get ready for bed, while Olivia checked on the kids and then she went to get ready for bed. Once Hank let Captain inside, he locked up and went upstairs. He got ready for bed and got into bed with Olivia. They kissed each other and then they made love before falling asleep in each other's arms. A little over an hour later, Olive and Justin came home and went to bed.
