A/N: I also did an update to 'I'm Here For You' within the last week. I don't own any of the characters except my own.
The next morning, Hank and Jay had an early case, so they left early. Hank was meeting the Parkers by 9:30, along with Olivia. When Olivia tried leaving, Lexie was being stubborn and wouldn't let her leave. She sent Justin and Erin to the District. She figured she had another tooth coming in, so she gave her some medicine and once Lexie fell asleep, she left for the Medical Examiner's Office. Hank was waiting for her when she got there but the Parkers hadn't arrived yet. She got out of the SUV.
"I was startin' to wonder if you forgot."
"Your daughter was being stubborn and wouldn't let me leave."
"Why is she mine when she's stubborn?"
"You've met her. You tell me. Every time she's acting like this, you conveniently have an early case."
"I did have an early case."
"I'm not saying you didn't. If you're to act like an ass, I'm leaving."
"I'm sorry."
"You should be sorry."
The Parkers arrived.
"Hey."
"Hey."
They went inside. Olivia went to see the ME first. The results had confirmed that Dylan was the one who has raped Mia. Olivia told her that the father was there but they would knock on the window when they were ready. The ME agreed and then she joined everyone.
"We have some other news regarding your son. I got a call for a sexual assault last night, so Erin and I went to the hospital to talk to the vic. She described the perp to a tee, including his tattoos."
"He raped her, didn't he?"
"Yes, he did. The ME just gave me the results of the DNA test from the rape kit. I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear about your son."
"Nothing he did surprised me."
"Are you ready to see him?"
"As ready as I'll ever be."
Olivia knocked on the window of the viewing room. The curtain went up revealing Dylan's body.
"Yep. That's him."
Olivia indicated that it was ok to lower the curtain.
"So, now what happens?"
"I guess it's up to you."
"I guess it is my responsibility to figure out what to do with him once the body is released. I could have him cremated and put him with his mother. What would you do if it was Justin and you hadn't seen him in 8 years?"
"I'd probably do the same thing. His estranged wife made it perfectly clear that she didn't want anything to do with him."
"He never cared who he hurt."
Olivia got a text message from Lisa saying they had a case.
"I'm sorry. I need to go."
Olivia headed out and then went to meet Lisa and Erin at the scene. When she arrived, the 3 of them were talking to the victim, Julie, who was accusing her ex-boyfriend, Darryl, of raping her in a jealous rage. The victim had agreed to go to the hospital for a rape kit. While they were at Med, her ex-boyfriend showed up.
"I didn't rape you, you bitch!"
"Yes, you did, Darryl. You're just jealous that I've moved on."
He pulled a gun and then Olivia, Lisa and Erin all pulled theirs as well.
"Drop your weapon."
"No, I'm not dropping my weapon. I'm not going to jail. You got that? If you don't put your damn guns down, I will blow this building up. Now, who's in charge here?"
"I am."
"I refuse to deal with a woman."
By now, there were other people outside the room.
"Lieutenant, is everything ok in here?"
"He does not want to deal with a woman. We need HNT, the Bomb Squad and assistance from CFD."
"Does that include a certain Lieutenant from the 21st?"
"Yes."
"Ok. Dr. Charles is also on his way and I already put the ED on lockdown."
"Get the building evacuated too."
"Got it."
Sharon did as Olivia told her, including calling Hank. Dr. Charles arrived in the ED and tried to talk to Darryl. He released Lisa but he was still holding Olivia, Erin, Natalie and Julie hostage. HNT would be there as quickly as they could. Intelligence arrived and Hank was pissed. Lisa met them at the entrance. The Bomb Squad had already started searching for a bomb.
"What's goin' on?"
"We convinced the vic to come here for a rape kit. The perp showed up and said he didn't rape anyone. He pulled a gun and is now threatening to blow the building up. He asked who was in charge and Olivia said she was but he said he won't deal with a woman. He released me but still has 4 hostages: Olivia, Erin, Natalie and Julie, who's the vic. Dr. Charles was on his way down to the ED."
Hank's phone rang and he noticed it was Alyssa. He handed his phone to Justin, who was now there with the rest of SVU.
"It's Alyssa. Find out what she wants."
Justin answered the call.
"Lexie is burnin' up. I'll handle it. You deal with Mom, Erin and Nat."
"Thanks. Just get her the Pediatrician."
"Got it. What if they want to put her in the hospital?"
"Then take her to Northwestern."
Hank gave Justin the insurance card along with the keys to his SUV and then Justin left to head home to get Lexie.
"Jay, you gotta get Nat out of there."
"I know, Will. Erin and Olivia are in there too."
"Jay, Al, you're comin' with me."
"Got it."
Hank, Jay and Al went in and went to where everyone was. Hank was not in the mood to negotiate anything. All he cared about was getting his family out of there safely and that also included Natalie. Someone from the Bomb Squad went with them.
"I'm Lieutenant Voight. What is it you want?"
"My freedom and a guarantee that I won't go to prison. Can I ask you something man to man?"
"That all depends on what it is."
"How can you work with these women in your profession? Cops, doctors and firefighters are all a man's profession."
"Time's change. Women are just as capable of being cops, firefighters or doctors as men are."
"Personally, I don't think women should work. Do you allow your wife to work?"
"Yeah, she works and she's very good at what she does. I support her no matter what she chooses to do."
"A woman's job is to take care of the kids. I like my women barefoot and pregnant.
"Like I said, times change."
"How many kids do you have out of wedlock, Darryl?"
"What business is it of yours, Julie? I can do whatever the hell I want! Women who disrespect their men deserve to be raped."
"I broke up with you over a year ago and you could never accept it. You violated me and now I have to worry about getting some disease because you think you can have sex with whoever you want."
"Shut up!"
Darryl was very angry and ended up hitting Olivia in the cheek so hard she ended up falling to the floor. Hank then punched Darryl in the stomach and shoved him into the Nurse's desk.
"I don't like seeing women abused or disrespected."
"I'm gonna sue you for police brutality."
"Yeah, you do that."
"Darryl, you're under arrest for rape and assaulting a Police Officer."
Erin put the handcuffs on him and then she read him his rights.
"Olivia, are you ok?"
"I need some ice."
"I got it."
Maggie went to get Olivia an ice pack, while Hank helped her up. Maggie gave Olivia the ice pack.
"Thanks."
"Sure."
"Thank you for that, Lieutenant."
"No problem. Babe, are you ok?"
"Yeah but it hurts like hell though."
"I'm not surprised. Are you gonna arrest me?"
"No. I expected nothing less from you after what he did."
"I don't like seeing women be disrespected especially when it's the woman I happen to love more than life itself."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"No wonder he blew when Darryl punched Olivia."
"He's very protective of his family."
"I can understand why. I wish I had that. I seem to attract assholes."
"That happens sometimes. Until I met Hank, I did too.
Hank wrapped his arms around Olivia and kissed her forehead. The Bomb Squad had given the all clear and said it was just a threat, so everyone had come back in. The rest of SVU and Intelligence had come in as well.
"The bomb threat was a hoax."
"The only bomb that exploded in here was Hank after the guy punched Olivia."
"Damn!"
They found an empty room and then Will checked out Olivia after he kissed Natalie. Hank told Olivia about Lexie and then he let Justin know that Med was back open. Justin let him know that he was able to get Lexie in at the Pediatrician but the appointment wasn't for another couple hours.
"What's goin' on with Lexie?"
"Olivia said she was bein' fussy and wouldn't let her leave for work. She finally calmed her down but as all this was goin' on, Alyssa called me and said she was burnin' up. I told Justin to get her in to the Pediatrician and if he needed to take her to the hospital, it should be Northwestern. I told him that Med was reopened now and he said he was able to get her in to the Pediatrician but the appointment wasn't for another couple hours."
"I'm pretty sure she's getting another tooth. She only seems to get like this when she's getting a new tooth in."
"Have him bring her in here. She probably needs an antibiotic sooner than a couple hours. It sounds more like an ear infection."
"Ok."
Hank called Justin and told him to bring her to Med. He then went to fill out the paperwork for Lexie.
"Olivia, everything looks fine. Nothing appears to be broken but it'll be bruised for a while."
"Ok."
Then Hank came back.
"I need your insurance card. I gave mine to Justin."
Olivia gave Hank her insurance card and then he finished filling out the paperwork. When Justin arrived with Lexie, they took her in right away. Maggie had Justin bring her in to where Olivia was.
"What happened?"
Hank told Justin what happened to Olivia. A little while later, Lieutenant Bradley came in. Hank went to talk to him first, while Will looked at Lexie. He confirmed that she did have an ear infection and a new tooth coming in, so he started an antibiotic. Then Lieutenant Bradley talked to Olivia. He then talked to Lisa, Al and Jay. He went to talk to Natalie and Julie and then he put a call in to Erin to come talk to him as well. The nurse came in to check Lexie's temperature. She went to get Will.
"Her temp went down a little bit, so once we finish with the antibiotic here, you can take her home but just let her rest for the next few days. I will give you an antibiotic to give her for 10 days. She may start to feel better in a few days. Olivia, I want you to take it easy for a few days as well."
"I will."
Will went to get the discharge papers and then Dr. Charles came in to make sure Olivia was ok. She said she was. After they brought the papers in, Hank took his girls home in his SUV, while Justin took Olivia's SUV home. Erin met them at the house to check on Olivia and Lexie and then she took Justin back to work after he said goodbye to Daniel and Camille. Hank called Antonio to let him know what he wasn't going to be back. Antonio said he understood and that his girls needed him right now. Doug had called Hank to see if he was available for lunch. Hank told him what had happened to Olivia and also said Lexie had an ear infection but if they wanted to pick something up, they could come over. Doug said they would find a place and then let them know. Hank agreed and hung up. Olivia had put Lexie in her pajamas and put her in her and Hank's bed with her teddy bear. She put a movie in and then she had Captain stay with her. Then she joined Hank, Meredith and Alyssa downstairs.
"Doug and Marissa are comin' for lunch but they're gonna bring somethin'. They're gonna pick a place and let us know where, so we can let them know what we want."
"That sounds like a plan."
"Is she asleep?"
"Not yet. I put her in our bed and put a movie in for her. Captain is right by her side. I think I'm going to go lay down with her for a little bit."
"Ok. Do you have a taste for anything?"
"Not really. Anything is fine. Probably get something for her too. She ate some of her breakfast this morning but not a lot. Maybe grilled cheese or chicken fingers or something like that."
"Ok."
Olivia kissed Hank and then she went upstairs. Lexie was already asleep, so Olivia turned the movie off and got into bed with her. She kissed Lexie's cheek and fell asleep as well. Doug called and said they found a place, so Hank let him know what they wanted. Hank said their nanny was also there and so was Meredith. After Hank hung up, he went to get Noah at Preschool. Just as Hank was arriving back at the house with Noah, Doug and Marissa were arriving.
"Crazy day, huh?"
"Yep."
"How's Olivia?"
"She'll be fine. She's more worried about Lexie than anything else."
"That's to be expected. You said she has an ear infection. Does she get them often?"
"She had one a little over a year ago. She just gets pretty cranky when she gets new teeth in."
"That's also to be expected."
Hank told them what she did before he and Olivia returned from Paris and they couldn't help but laugh.
"I get blamed whenever she throws a temper tantrum."
Hank unlocked the door and then they went inside. Doug and Marissa took the food into the kitchen.
"Hey, Meredith."
"Hey, Doug. It's good to see you."
"You too. This is my wife Marissa. Marissa, this is Meredith Olinsky."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
"This is our nanny Alyssa."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
"Who's watchin' your kids?"
"Marissa's sister usually watches them."
"How many do you have?"
"Three. Emma is 7, Jade is 4 and Luke is 2. #4 is on the way and due in November."
"Congratulations! I was sorry to hear about Dylan."
"Most of what happened with him he brought on himself. I hadn't seen or heard from him, since Barb's funeral and now I'm stuck having to figure out what to do with him."
"What did you decide?"
"I'm having him cremated and putting him in with his mother. I doubt I'll even have a service for him. Am I ever going to meet my grandchildren? Probably not."
"I could not imagine not knowin' my grandkids. I should see if Olivia is awake."
Hank headed towards the stairs when the doorbell rang, so he answered it. It was Trudy.
"Hey, Trudy."
"Hey. How's Olivia?"
"She said it hurts like hell. I need to go check on her. Doug and his wife are here. Everyone is in the kitchen."
"Ok."
Trudy went into the kitchen to say hi to Doug, while Hank went upstairs.
"Hey, Parker."
"Trudy. It's been a while."
"Yeah, it has. Probably Barb's funeral."
"That sounds about right.
Trudy hugged Doug.
"Trudy, this is my wife Marissa. Marissa, this is Trudy Platt."
"It's nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you."
"That can't be good."
"He's had nothing but good things to say about all of you. I was glad to finally be able to meet someone from Doug's past when we ran into the Voights in the Bahamas."
Hank came down with both Olivia and Lexie.
"Ouch!"
"Yeah, it hurts."
"You wanna try eatin' somethin', Peanut?"
Lexie hid in Hank's shoulder and had her thumb in her mouth.
"Get her a banana or some yogurt."
Hank handed Lexie to Olivia and went to cut up a banana for her. Olivia put her in her high chair and then Hank brought the banana over to her. He also pulled some grapes out of the freezer and let them thaw a little bit. He also got her some juice.
"We go through this with Luke all the time too."
Lexie started to eat her banana, while mostly everyone ate their lunch.
"Does she normally have a pretty good appetite?"
"Yeah but sometimes she likes to play with her food and throw it at everyone. Our dog cleans up after her usually."
"Hank told us about her redecorating her room."
"She's definitely a character and Daddy's little girl. Aren't you, Sweetie?"
"Yeah."
"Is your banana good?"
"Yeah."
Everyone talked and enjoyed each other's company. Trudy left and headed to the District. Hank had gotten a call, so he answered it. It was, Leah, Dylan's estranged wife asking about any other family. Hank said he has a dad but they were estranged as well and they hadn't seen each other in 8 years. She asked if maybe they could meet for the sake of the kids. Hank said he would check. He asked Doug if he wanted to meet his grandchildren and he said he'd like that very much. Hank said he wanted to meet them and they would meet her at the District. She agreed and then Hank hung up. Olivia took Lexie back upstairs and the boys had joined her. Millie and Nadia were taking their nap as well. Hank kissed Olivia and then he left with Doug and Marissa. When they arrived at the District, they went in. Leah and the kids were already there.
"Hey, Leah. This is Doug and his wife Marissa."
"Hi. I'm Leah and this is Sadie and DJ."
"Dylan Jr.?"
"No. It's short for Douglas James. Even though you were estranged, he still wanted to name our son after you. I think a part of him was ready reconcile but then he started using drugs again. He was clean and sober up until the last year. I think he just got in with the wrong crowd."
"Honestly, it doesn't surprise me. He's been into drugs since high school."
"I've been wanting him to work things out with you but he's too stubborn."
"That's an understatement."
They all went upstairs to Hank's office.
"How much did he tell you about me?"
"He said you were cheating on his mother while she was dying."
"That wasn't true at all. Marissa is a nurse in the Emergency Room where I work and I had taken my wife there multiple times. They actually became good friends and Marissa had become someone I could confide in. I was never unfaithful to her. I went to her place after the funeral because I didn't know where else to go and that was the first time we had gotten close. It ended up resulting in our oldest daughter Emma. A part of me felt guilty afterward because I had just buried Barb. We didn't get married until Marissa was pregnant with our second daughter Jade, so we've been married 5 years. Our son Luke is 2. We're expecting our 4th child together sometime in November but we haven't decided if we want to know what we're having."
"Everything was always everyone else's fault and Dylan was never at fault for anything."
"He was always like that. He blamed me for his mother's death. Her funeral was the last time we spoke and that was when he accused me of cheating."
Hank had told Leah about Dylan raping someone just before his death.
"I'm not surprised. He hasn't gotten anything from me since I kicked him out and actually, it had been over a year since we were even close in that way. It's not that I didn't love him but I couldn't deal with the lies and the drug addiction. I had to do what was best for the kids because I didn't feel it was safe for them to be around him."
"You had every right to do what you did."
"You have the right to know your grandchildren."
Jay got Hank's attention, so he left his office, while Doug and Leah kept talking.
"What's goin' on?"
"Erin just called. Darryl was killed in custody. He was mouthing off to one of the other prisoners and he got beaten to death. Have you heard from Internal Affairs yet?"
"No. Like I told Lieutenant Bradley, I probably shouldn't have done what I did but I was protecting a fellow officer even if that officer just happened to be my wife. I would have done the same thing if it was Erin or any other female. He obviously has no respect for women."
"Olinsky and I both knew what was comin' after he punched Olivia. He was pissing me off too. Erin said she was about ready to go off on him. I'm glad you let me come in with you because I just needed to know Erin was ok and then of course Natalie and Olivia too. How's Lex?"
"She ate a whole banana and some grapes for lunch. The Parkers picked up lunch and brought it over. Olivia said to get Lexie grilled cheese or chicken fingers but she wasn't interested."
"We're not lookin' forward to the teething thing with Nadia. I could see her doing what Lex did and redecorating her room while having a temper tantrum. Are they getting along?"
"They appear to be. Leah said Doug has the right to know his grandkids."
"Does DJ stand for Dylan Jr.?"
"She said it was Douglas James, so even if they were estranged, he still wanted their son named after his dad."
"Whenever it happens again with us, you'll be gettin' your namesake. We already agreed that our first son will be Henry William. I've been gettin' along a little better with my dad but I'm not sure I'd want to name my kid after him. Will has said that he'd like to name their first kid together Patrick, so I told him that was fine."
"Have they set a date yet?"
"I think they mentioned something about next year sometime."
"Justin said that he'd like to name their next one after my parents, so Richard Alexander. He said they wouldn't do it Alexander Richard because of Lexie. When do you close on your new place?"
"Towards the end of September. Erin already said she wants to paint before we move in. The bathrooms and kitchen have been redone recently and the air conditioner, furnace, hot water tank, washer and dryer have been replaced recently as well."
"That's always good."
Hank went back into his office.
"How's everything goin'?"
"Great. Thanks for arranging this."
"No problem."
"The kids and I should get going. I need to get to work."
"What are you doing with them?"
"I have a neighbor, who watches them."
"What do you do?"
"I'm a nurse at Comer Children's Hospital."
"You like it there?"
"I do but I wish I could get better hours. I hate working nights but no one wants to switch."
"How far would you be willing to travel for a day shift? One of the Pediatric nurses at Loyola is leaving in the next few weeks. You may occasionally have to work nights though.
"As tempting as it is, I'm not sure I could be that far from them."
"We're still renting out Marissa's condo and the current tenant just moved out, so we're in the process of looking for a new one."
"All I'm paying on the place are the taxes and the assessment anyway. Pay me whatever you're comfortable with and water and gas are both included in the assessment, so you're only responsible the electric and or course internet."
"Do you allow pets? We have a cat."
"Absolutely."
"I've actually been thinking about selling it but so far, I haven't."
"I probably have time on Friday."
"Does this mean you're interested in the job too?"
"It does. I just want to be able to spend more time with my kids."
"I get it. Monday is our normal day off but we've been trying to work separate shifts if we can, so one of us can be with the kids. If it doesn't work out that way, my sister takes care of them anyway. Friday is actually the day I'm working the night shift."
"I'm working Friday night too this week."
"I almost forgot about that."
"You will be working closely with me if you take this job."
"I'm fine with that. I want you to get to know your grandkids, which is why I asked Lieutenant Voight about Dylan's family. You're definitely not the person Dylan said you were. I just wish we could have met sooner."
"That's Dylan being Dylan."
Doug pulled out his card and wrote their cell numbers on the back.
"Here's my card. I wrote both cell numbers on the back of it."
Leah pulled out a piece of paper and wrote her number down.
"Thanks. Here's my number as well."
"I'll let you know when you can come in for the interview."
"Great."
Leah and the kids left after they waved goodbye.
"DJ reminds me of Lucas."
"He definitely does. He looks like Dylan. I just hope he doesn't go the same route he did."
Hank got a text from Olivia asking if the Parkers could stay for dinner. Meredith and Al would be there but he also needed to check with Trudy. He said he'd check.
"Can you stay for dinner?"
"We'd have to go and get the kids. My sister and her husband had plans tonight."
"That shouldn't be a problem. Al, you and Meredith are comin' for dinner too."
"She just texted me."
Hank called down to Trudy and asked if she could come to dinner. She said she had no plans, since Mouch was working. Hank then called Olivia back.
"Hey."
"Hey. Doug and Marissa said they'd come for dinner but they have to go get the kids."
"That's not a problem at all. Tell them to bring their swimsuits."
"I will do that. I should be home soon unless you need me to stop at the store."
"If you don't mind."
"I don't mind."
"I was thinking chicken breasts. We can grill them out and do some with barbeque and some plain."
"Ok."
"Thank you."
"No problem. What time?"
"Olive gets home at 5:15 usually, so 5:30"
"Ok. By the way, did you by any chance talk to Erin?"
"I did and I'm fine with that."
"She called Jay and he told me."
"See you later."
"Yep."
"Love you."
"Love you too."
Hank hung up the phone.
"She said 5:30 and to bring your swimsuits."
"We will do that. We'll head home and then we'll be back by then."
"Ok."
Doug and Marissa left and headed home, so they could get their kids. Hank left and headed to the grocery store to get food for dinner and then everyone else kept busy until it was time to go home.
To be continued…
