Connar tossed and turned on the singular bed of her newly assigned room–
Even though the furniture here was a definite upgrade–
And Privacy was guaranteed–
She couldn't seem to get herself comfortable at all–
A lot took place in the previous year–
And since then she seems to have only become far more restless than ever before…
There was screaming…
And fire…
A whimper was stuck in her throat…
Kira…
An internal cry for her brother's name as his face haunts her newly awakening memories…
A can of worms perhaps better left tightly sealed up…
Too late for that now.
"The war has yet to begin…"
"AHHHH!" she screamed, shooting herself upright from the bedding of faded yellow sheets…
Fire…
Fire…!
She panicked– as she felt herself burning up– and her heart twisting within her chest in a burning sweat that chilled her bones–
"Huh?"
She took steady breaths…patting herself down.
"I…I'm fine…" she said softly with a heavy sigh.
…I'm okay…
She thought to herself.
What's done is done now…
Just…
Seal it all…
Back away…
She pants.
…Seal it all…away…

And so it begins.
Year two at the Academy.
Connar twirled a couple times in her new dorm room, watching herself in the vanity mirror that her father had gifted to her as a house warming and congratulatory gift upon entry into the Ra Dorm–
"Hmm...maybe this doesn't look so good on me..." she chuckled awkwardly.
"Nonsense my dear~ I'd say the uniform suits you nicely."
"Oh, Bastion!" Connar beamed welcoming her intellectual friend with a sweet smile, "Are you sure?" she tilted her head twirling a loose strand of her soft pink hair," I kinda think maybe the color yellow sorta clashes with my hair..."
"Connie, my dear...I have formulas for many things." he said to her, "However, fashion isn't one of them."
"Guess I shouldn't have asked." she chuckled.
"Yeah, no shit~" Chazz scoffed as he leaned against the door frame with a cheeky smirk, "Take it from someone who knows best, sweetheart~" he hummed, "Baby looks good in yellow~" he winked.
"Pff…" good morning to you too, Princeton." Connar giggled, blushing sweetly, a gesture in which he returned.
At the end of last year, the two had agreed to start seeing each other—
So now Chazz made sure to go out of his way to get up extra early in order to meet with Connar, so that the two could walk to class together.
"Tell me Misawa, what do your formulas say about us getting to class on time?"
"Well according to my calculations, if we leave right now...we'll have time to grab a doughnut from the dining hall."
"Or…We can share a more proper breakfast of an egg sandwich with bacon." Chazz scoffed as he waved a wrapped breakfast croissant that he handed over to Connie, "Egg is good for the brain you know~" he hummed.
"Oh you brought sandwiches for us Chazz? How kind." said Bastion.
"Yeah right!" Chazz scoffed, "I got it for her, not for you– get your own." he scoffed.
"...Rude." Bastion muttered.
They chuckled while walking out together.

"Good morning, Connie!" Syrus grinned, waving his pink haired friend over.
" I made a few changes~ did you notice?" she gave him an eager smile and a playful shimmy, clearly fishing for a compliment, but he only seemed more confused.
"You're in yellow." he said, "I know that already."
Bastion coughed into his hand and chuckled.
Connar blinked and gave her old friend that look.
"No Syrus...that's not the change I was talking about." she sighed
"Oh…you mean the fact that you're going out with Chazz now?" he asked curiously with a tilt of head–
Both Connar and Chazz took in a breath, exchanged a glance with each other, and shifted their gaze to the side chuckling softly as they blushed.
"Well…We're going steady…" said Chazz.
"Oh…but…isn;t that like the same thing though?" asked Syrus.
"Well…er…that's…uh…" she blushed harder.
"Let's just think of it like this–" said Chazz, "Connar and I are exclusive…but taking things slow between us…"
After all–
He hasn't forgotten how he made an ass of himself in front of her multiple times over the course of last year–
But he made sure to spend every day over the break making things up to her…
"Oh sorry." he said, "So then what other changes could you be talking about?" he asked
Connar rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Come now Connie, don't be mad at the guy. You know he's a little slow~ ." Chazz gave her a playful poke to which she squeaked in reaction. "HaHa, cute~"
"Still full of yourself this year, huh?" Syrus sighed.
Though no one else seemed to pay him any mind, as they were more focused on Chazz and Connar's newly open interaction.
"She dyed her hair, you dweeb." Chazz scoffed.
"Wait, really? Syrus blinked a few times and moved in closer to adjust his new frames, "...Still looks pink to me?" he stated.
" I wanted to make it into a brighter pink!..." she stated excitedly, "So I Lightened it!"
"Brighter huh?" Syrus looked closer while Chazz nodded approvingly.
"It's nice." he said with a smile, "Looks a little shorter too. Did you cut it as well?" He reached for the ends of her hair and let the strands slide through his fingers as he shifted his eyes up onto hers with a sly smile," You didn't tell me you were doing that~"
"Ahh...haha...y-yeah...I did." she spoke nervously and blushed heavily, "I…sorta wanted it to be a surprise…"
The scene seemed almost too cringey...
Both Bastion and Syrus felt ignored.
Or rather, forgotten.
"It looks good, babe~" he grinned and softly nudged her shoulder, "Now come on, we better get ready for class."
"Oh, right!" She giggled and hurried to take her place beside him as they walked together, hand in hand, which became a regular thing after his return to Duel Academy from his time at North Academy in the previous year, and their decision together at the end of the previous year.
Chazz made a lot of changes after that.
He became more...tolerable.
And with Syrus? And Bastion? Much more friendly.
Even with Jaden too…
…Just a little though.

The whispers that rose up in passing as they made their way towards the school birthed some nervous sensations in Connar's belly, especially Clearly they were the talk of the year so far–
Princeton and Kaiba.
Side by side…
Hand in hand.
"Uhm...Chazz?" Connar whispered tugging lightly on his black jacket sleeve.
"Yeah? What's up Connie?" he asked, "There's no way you could be nervous about the first day of school..." he stated, "You're a second year now! We gotta set examples for the new freshmen."
"That's not it..." Connar stated and lowered her voice into a hushed whisper that made Chazz had to lower his head to hear her properly, "I think they're talking about us..." she said softly.
"So what if they are?" Chazz whispered back, "Let them talk!" He grinned, "After all...we're the only ones who decide what we let affect us...right?" he smiled as he retracted his hand from hers and placed it gently over her shoulders, pulling her a little closer as a means to balance out her nerves.
"Right..." She smiled back and leaned into him…
And action that warmed him inside and brought out his other hand in order to take hers in his, while they walked closer together, stroking her knuckles with his thumb to offer her reassurance…
Which she accepted with a warm smile.
