Kana Takes Care

Marcus has a big load of hay for Farmer Briar's Farm, but Marcus has broken down…Loni has arrived to take Marcus to the Repair Yard and Kana is there to make the delivery for her friend.

"Be careful," warns Marcus, "that load of hay is very tall. If you go to fast, the hay could tip over and you have to watch out for things hanging over the tracks." Kana promises to do her best as Loni takes Marcus away.

It is time for Kana to leave…but Kana is a very fast engine. Kana is trying to remember what Marcus told her. She looks back at her load…Should Kana go fast or slow? …

If Kana goes too fast, they hay could fall over…So, what should Kana do? …

Yes! Kana must go slow so her big load of hay stays in place.

Now, Kana has arrived at a junction…There are two tracks Kana can take to the Farm. One track goes through the Valley…The other track has a signal box hanging over the tracks…Which track should Kana take to the Farm? …

If Kana goes under the signal box, her tall load of hay could hit it and she could lose some of her hay bails…So, what should Kana do? …

Yes! Kana must take the track through the Valley. There's nothing to get in her way on this track…

Kana has arrived at the Farm. Farmer Briar is very pleased and so are all the animals. Well done, Kana!

Staying Safe

Today, Nathan is taking a new tractor to the Farm…Nathan is grumpy; he was hoping for a more exciting job…Nathan wants to deliver the tractor quickly so he can do something more exciting.

"Be careful," says the Dock Master, "you don't want to have an accident."

Nathan races through the countryside…but what's this? …There are ducks on the line!

Nathan brakes hard and just misses hitting the ducks. "Look out!" Nathan calls…

Nathan's Driver is cross. "You nearly caused an accident," he says. "Now, slow down and take care…"

Nathan slows down and continues on his journey…Suddenly, his signal turns red

Nathan puts on his brakes again. He stops safely to let Noel go through with his goods train.

Now, Nathan is almost at the Farm; he's glad his job will soon be over…but what's this? …Now, there are cows everywhere!

Nathan's applies his brakes once more; he stops safely and doesn't hit the cows…Nathan sees that the fence is broken and waits for the Farmers to shoo the cows back to their field.

Nathan has delivered the tractor safely and the Farmers are pleased. "Being slow and careful can help get the job done after all," he says. Well done, Nathan!

Which Way?

Marcus and Nathan are taking a load of china to the Port. "Be slow, smooth and safe," says Loni. "China can break easily." …So, Marcus and Nathan roll away as carefully as they can…

Marcus and Nathan have come to a junction. One track is long and flat…The other track is bumpy…Which track should Marcus and Nathan take? …

Yes, the long, flat track. This track is very smooth, and the china won't break.

Marcus and Nathan see another junction. One track goes through a rocky gorge…but the other track goes past the Farm…Which way should Marcus and Nathan go now? …

Yes, the track by the Farm. The Farm has no falling rocks…so the china won't break.

Marcus and Nathan are almost at the Port, but they have to pass through one more junction…One track crosses a high, windy bridge…while the other track goes through a narrow tunnel…Which track should Marcus and Nathan take this time? …

Yes! they must take the track through the tunnel. The tunnel will block the strong wind, so their trucks won't rattle about, and the china won't break.

Marcus and Nathan have arrived at the Port. By being slow and smooth, they arrived safely and none of the china is broken. Well done, both of you!

Braving the Waves

Today, Bailey the Sailboat and his Captain Jenny are traveling along the coast; they want to reach the Silverdale Lighthouse.

"Are you sure you'll be alright on your own?" the Dock Master asks.

"Don't worry," Captain Jenny replies, "we know how to stay safe."

Bailey and Captain Jenny make it out to the open sea. Everything is going well…but there's trouble ahead…

The wind is getting stronger…Captain Jenny is finding it very hard to steer. "Maybe we shouldn't have gone out alone!" she calls out.

Bailey is worried too; he knows strong winds can make big waves and they can be very dangerous…but what's this? …

A tugboat is sailing past. Captain Jenny explains the situation to the tugboat's captain…The captain agrees to block the wind until they reach the shore…

Bailey and Captain Jenny are happy. Now, they can finish their journey and be safe from the wind and waves. "But next time," Captain Jenny says, "we'll remember to check the weather report first."
