Yuma stays by her side when the doctors finish stitching up her wounds. She doesn't seem to have any friends in this world; maybe his presence would comfort her. He stays there for the entire time he's allowed, and comes back day after day.
One night Shing wakes up. She looks at her arms, they're bandaged with clean stirps of cloth. She looks at the chair beside her; it's empty. Looking back up at the ceiling her hands itched to tear away the bandages, but she doesn't. Instead, she gets up and leaps out the window.
~.The Next Day.~
Yuma returns to the hospital to visit Shing in case she woke up. He enters her room, but she's gone.
Did she wake up last night? Did she hurt herself further?
Panicking, Yuma hurries outside to try and find her.
Nearby a portal from another world opens. A purple-haired boy steps out of it and looks around. Ever since their queen left their world, people have been searching everywhere for her. This boy took a portal to this world. Maybe she's here, she looked very distressed when she ran away.
The boy suddenly sees another kid, this one with red and black hair and ruby red eyes. He's running in one direction. The purple-haired boy chases after Yuma to see if he knows anything.
"Hey!"
Yuma turns his head to see a teenaged boy chasing after him. "What?!" he calls back.
"Where are you going?!"
Yuma faces straight ahead again. "A friend of mine escaped from the hospital last night. I need to find her!"
The purple-haired boy's eyes widened. Could this be his queen? "What does she look like? This is important!"
Yuma quickly describes Shing's appearance. The other boy shows signs of recognition, so he asks, "Do you know her? Is she a friend of yours?"
"I'll tell you everything as soon as we find her. Right now finding her is more important. She's a very disturbed girl right now; there's no telling what she's doing to herself."
"Got it.
They both shoot forward with a new burst of speed to look for Shing. They look everywhere for her. Even well into the evening, and there's still no sign of her.
Yuma looks around in an alleyway when his duel gazer beeps. He clicks the answer button; it's the other boy calling him. "What's up?"
"I found her," the boy says. "She's in an alleyway by the park. I need your help taking her back to the hospital without reopening her wounds."
"I'll be right there." Yuma shuts off his duel gazer and hurries back to the alleyway.
Once there he and the boy work to carry Shing back to the hospital. She's unconscious luckily for them, this makes their job easier since she wouldn't be struggling. Soon she's put back into her hospital bed, this time with restraints in case she feels like fleeing again.
"So are you going to tell me why you needed to find her?" Yuma asks.
"Yes of course, my name is Yuri. She and I are from the same world, one where she ruled as queen. In our world there are different versions of you, your friends, and even your enemies. As well as others from different worlds, so I already know who you are but that's besides the point. Shing… she has everything she could ever ask for. She had loving friends, loyal knights, faithful servants, and a trusted court. She loved all the people in our world. I don't know when it started, it was a gradual thing. She started acting very.." Yuri searches for the right word. "She started acting deflated. It got worse and worse as the days went on until she just disappeared one day. Our scientist, a very loyal and friendly man, helped us open many portals to look for. So here I am, in your city."
Yuma nods. "She tried to make her new kingdom here," he begins. "She started with me. She used some sort of mind altering serum to put me under her control."
"She always liked you the best. It would make sense to start with you."
They talked on as Shing rested. In her dream, she's in a world of darkness. There isn't a shred of light in it, just pitch black darkness. She wanders around for a while, but she doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.
Suddenly an even blacker ball approaches her. "It's no use living as you are now," It hisses. The voice sounds like many voices layered into one. "They don't care about you. Even the one you love is only trying to appeal to your good side for fear of being controlled again."
Shing had to agree, that very thought was on her mind a lot lately. The people of her kingdom only follow and love her because is their queen. It's not because of who she is, only her status. She takes a step towards the ball, her right hand reaching out to it.
"That's not true and you know it!" A lighter voice argues. The girl turns around to see a ball of light. Just like the black orb, this one has a voice that sounds like many layered into one. "They genuinely love you. Right now as you rest, many of you loyal citizens are taking portals to look for you. They all miss you."
"They're only looking for you because you're their figurehead. Without you, they have no one in charge. Chaos will reign and no one wants that. No, they only search because you were in charge. They don't love you."
"The boy stays by your side. He waits for you to wake up so he can greet you into the waking world. He truly cares."
"He's afraid of you. After what you did to him, why would he start caring about you?"
You're right, Shing agrees. She is caught between her thoughts. Both positive and negative, but there's only one side she agreed with. After sending one last look to the ball of light, she reaches out to the black orb once again. You're absolutely right.
Yuma and Yuri stop talking when Shing gorans. Both boys turn their attention to her, but only Yuri seemed to pick up on the strange feeling coming off of her. His feeling is only confirmed when her skin starts turning a shade of grayish white.
"We need to get out of here." Yuri suddenly says.
Yuma shoots up. "What?! No way?! I thought you wanted to save her!"
"She's too far gone. If we stay here there's a good chance she will kill us."
Shing opens her eyes, they look oddly dead. Yuma shivers when he looks at those eyes. They are neither playful nor sad; there's only a dead look to them. Yuri grabs Yuma by the hood of his vest and drags him out of the room.
The girl looks at her restraints. They are keeping her tied down to the bed, but this isn't going to stop her. The binding soon melt off her skin; Shing is free. She walks out of the hospital, killing anyone in her way with a simple touch. She hopes they have loved ones. That way, they can feel the pain she is feeling right now. Her mind keeps telling her to kill those who have what she could not. She happily obliges.
The next thing she knows, she's back in the park Yuma and his friends frequented. It's a beautiful place with neatly cut grass, a fountain, and paths made of stone for people to walk on. On one side, trees lined the park thickly. Tonight there are young couples sitting on the grass, laying together, and some sharing kisses.
She whispers into the wind. Telling them to come closer. The male of one couple turns around and tells his girlfriend or wife that he'll be right back. He walks closer, and Shing raises her hand. Remaining hidden and unbreathing.
"Is anyone there?" the man asks.
"Hello." Shing whispers. The whisper resonated all around. "Would you like to go somewhere with me? I can help you find something to surprise your partner."
The man is skeptical. Following some random girl is a bad idea, but a thought tickles at the back of his mind. Maybe this isn't such a bad idea. If this person knows where he can find something to surprise his girlfriend, he would have something to give her for their anniversary in a week. "Sure."
The girls hold out her hand to him. The foolish man takes it. Her hand tightens and her smile widens. The wind wipers, "You will die by midnight tonight."
The man starts to feel weak. He lets go of the girl's hand and leans against a nearby tree. H…hold on…" he gasps. "I'm… feeling faint…"
"Take your time," the girl relies. "But maybe now isn't the time to look."
"Yeah… yeah you're right…"
Rest up now, you don't have much time left."
With that she walks off. The girl talks to more couples, touching one person from each relationship. True to her word, as soon as the clock strikes twelve, those she touched die of unknown causes.
