ATTENTION: Reminder that this is an eventual Thorxoc fanfiction. NOT a Tonyxoc fic. I love Tony Stark so so much! Just not like that XD
I know it is unusual to start the story without the love interest in it right away but I really wanted her to have a fully developed story and a history prior to meeting Thor (or in the words of Jeff Goldblum: The Seductive Lord of Thunder).
I really have so much compassion and love for Tony as a character. He's so complex and his life is quite sad. I always thought that Tony should have received counseling-hence the birth of this fic. I hope that you like Taron and find her story compelling.
If you are only here for the lovely Thor, it will be a hot minute till he appears. However, when he does, I will mark it in the chapter title so the Thor-lovers can skip right to that part. You'll miss quite a bit but I still think it will be an enjoyable and comprehensive experience.
I have beta readers but those lovely people are often busy. So, please feel free to leave any grammar, style, formatting, characterization, etc suggestions. If I think it's a good suggestion or enough people vote to agree then I'll make the change. I want this to be the best it can be.
Ps if it's trash please tell me
Pps please comment I love reading them on other fics they brighten the experience
ppps I feel like there are a shortage of quality Thor fics out there so if anyone has any recs I'd love to hear them.
(This is also on AO3 and Wattpad with the same name and account name)
Hoden raced across the rocky surface of Valore with a priceless package in his arms. The Blue Temple was on the other side of an expansive gorge he was fast approaching, which would require time he didn't have to get across. He felt movement in his arms as a pink hand poked out of the blanket he had made and tugged at his beard. "Stay quiet my dear." His little girl wasn't even a year old and yet this was all for her. He kept going as fast as he could without his arms to balance his stride.
A near silent flap of wings came from overhead. Hoden stopped and ducked behind a large rock, heart racing. His breathing was so loud he nearly missed the sound of feet landing on the soil. Fanagaling his daughter into one arm, he reached for his knife. Of course, he had a more effective form of defense but it was only to be used as a last resort. He'd like to avoid unforgivable acts for as long as he could. He brought the knife up, putting the arm over his daughter.
"Hoden?" He felt her presence a moment before she spoke. Relief flooded Hoden at the sound of his wife's voice.
"Neve!" He sheathed his knife and stood from behind the rock. His wife's arms were around him faster than he could comprehend. She used her feathered wings to pull him and their child tighter against her and coiled them with her two scorpion-like tails. It had taken Hoden a long time to adjust to wings and even longer for the poisonous metasomas. If he was honest, he was still adjusting to the metasomas. However, he did not think of anything now except how this may be the last hug their family would share. "How close are they?" He whispered into his wife's hair as she stared down at the person they both loved the most.
"They'll be upon us within the hour." Tears pricked her brown eyes. But when he wiped them away with his thumb he saw staggering resolve on her face. "We have to go. I'll be going slower with you two in my arms." His stomach turned.
"The gorge isn't that big. Maybe I could walk." He said quickly, knowing it wasn't true. Neve smirked.
"Hold on tight my love," she said with a laugh. They wrapped their arms around each other as her wings unfolded. She secured them with her metasomas.
They took off into the sky but Hoden was pretty sure his stomach stayed behind. The wind whipped their hair and the baby began to squirm between them. Neve planted a kiss on her head, encouraging her to remain still. As they soared across the land he observed his wife's face. She looked haggard and a couple of small wounds flecked her cheeks. They did nothing to hide her beauty underneath. He had never seen her look more focused, not even when she was smithing. He hoped the small wounds were all she suffered when fleeing the palace. He figured she may have leaped through the glass in her room. She noticed his staring.
"What are you looking at?" Her nearly vanished in the wind.
"My beautiful wife." Blush crept up her neck and he could feel her love for him flare.
"Well, you probably should keep your eyes ahead to find the temple since it is not in my realm of sight." He sighed and looked away from her tired face to scan the ground below. They were flying low so he could see the temple. The downside was it made them an easier target.
The crystal structure finally shone on the horizon. The blue rock inside illuminated it to shine a radiant light blue.
"There!" He called above the wind. Neve adjusted her wings to go where he pointed. "Land soon. I don't want us to hit the side." She angled her brown and golden feathered wings down towards the land before flipping them forward so they landed on their feet a few lengths from the temple. Their steps slowed as they walked closer, knowing the time to part was fast approaching. They reached the temple's protective border that only allowed the wingless Keepers past it.
Neve could not come.
She turned and began to open her mouth to say goodbye, I love you, or don't go. Hoden never found out because a spear made of light burned straight through her abdomen.
"NEVE!"
"Go!" She rasped. "While you still can." Their daughter began to cry. Hoden stared at his wife for a moment longer, trying to memorize it. "Go you fool." She said wetly as tears slipped from her eyes.
He tore his gaze from her face and stumbled to the temple while trying to keep a hold of their squirming daughter. He hoped the Blue magic would work for him even though he was an Orange Keeper. He slid down to the temple floor and placed her against the blue boulder protruding from the center of the room. He kneeled and reached out with his mind to the stone to activate its magic. A blue smoke began to seep from the stalagmite and enveloped his daughter quickly. His chest relaxed knowing she would be out of danger after a few seconds in the vapor. The smoke only needed to grow a bit more before it would overcome him and he would join her. It had almost reached him when he heard the sound of his wife dying.
Hoden cried as his soul was ripped in two.
