A/N: So, I was over on Wattpad reading this amazing story by the writer known as KN-stories, and their work inspired me to write this story. The story in question is titled The Soulblade, and as you can probably tell from the title of mine, this one takes a different route to The Soulblade. It's a great story, by the way, go read it and comment on it. It's over on Wattpad, the title, once again, is The Soulblade and it's by KN-stories. Anyway, when I read The Soulblade, it got me thinking, "What if young Midoriya DID manifest a quirk? And what if that quirk was indeed a combination of his mother and father's quirks, but they combined in a totally unexpected way?". And so, here we are. Please read on, and I hope you enjoy this new story.

A Psychic Knight's Awakening!: Part 1

"Gigantification, huh? Well, her quirk seems powerful, and she definitely has the looks to be a fan favorite, but what are the limits of her quirk? Can she control how tall she can grow, or can she only grow to her maximum height? And what about growing individual parts of her body instead of her whole body at once?" pondered a young man with green hair writing in a notebook.

Izuku Midoriya had just gotten done watching another villain fight on his way to school for the day. This time, it involved a recent hero who was quickly climbing up the ranks named Kamui Woods, but it also happened to be the debut of a new heroine who goes by the name Mt. Lady… for obvious reasons. But the notebook he's writing in isn't any ordinary journal. It's one of his quirk analysis notebooks. The thirteenth in a set of twelve additional volumes that he's worked on ever since he was a little boy. In fact, the first few volumes are actually written in crayon.

'All humans are not created equal. I know that better than almost anyone.' Izuku thought to himself. 'Ever since the Quirk Baby Boom that happened over two hundred years ago, Pro Heroes have become a part of our everyday lives. I don't know any child who hasn't wanted to be a part of heroics in some way. Heck, even I want to be a pro hero, but… there might be a problem with that.'

"Hey kid, what's that you got there?" asked a woman from behind Izuku, making him jump in fright.

He turned around to see none other than the woman of the hour.

"Oh! Mt. Lady!" he said in a startled voice.

Mt. Lady is a curvaceous young woman who has purple eyes with white pupils and elegantly long eyelashes. She has prolonged, voluminous, creamy blonde hair reaching down to her waist with two shorter strands curled to frame her face, parted slightly to her right.

Her hero costume is composed of a purple and pale-tan colored skintight bodysuit, which is accented by orange stripes. The suit appears to have a pair of gloves with orange accents at the edge of the cuff. The design is similar to her 'boots' which are cut off at the thigh in a deep v-shape. The suit also has three peculiar diamond-shaped dots on the purple top that are located under her chest, and she also wears a purple domino mask with horn-like protrusions on the sides.

The blonde heroine laughed sheepishly and said, "Sorry, kid. Didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted to see what you're working on. Is it homework that you forgot about?".

"Um, well, actually, uh…" stuttered Izuku.

But in his nervous state, he hadn't held his notebook close to his chest like he usually does. And the new heroine saw the contents and saw that they were notes.

"Hm? Are those notes you're taking?" she asked.

He froze as she gently took the book, which wasn't hard given how his grip had gone slack in his nervous state and began reading the page that had her own notes. Izuku practically turned to stone as she read through his notes already hearing the words of ridicule. But he was taken off guard when she smiled and gave him back his book.

"Those are some pretty impressive notes you got there. You've even given me a few ideas on how to train my own quirk that I didn't even think of, as embarrassing as it is to admit it." praised Mt. Lady before she asked, "You want to be a hero, huh?"

Izuku smiled and replied, "Y-Yes! More than anything!".

Though blinded slightly by how bright this boy's smile was, Mt. Lady couldn't help but giggle at how much positive energy he can give off when he's not being shy. She had to admit, he was kind of cute. If he were a couple of years older and they knew each other better, she might have even considered asking him on a date. For now, she settled for ruffling his hair marveling at how soft and fluffy it was.

"Well, I think you've got what it takes to be a great hero, kid. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." Mt. Lady said.

And for a moment, Izuku felt elated at her words. Finally, after ten long years, here was somebody who believed that he could become a hero. But then his insecurities began to come into play. She was saying that she believed in him now, but she doesn't know that he's quirkless. What would she say if she knew that he doesn't have a quirk? Would she still be supportive of him becoming a hero? Or would she begin to treat him like everyone else in Japan just because he was one of the few born without a special power.

"Um, Mt. Lady? Before you go, there's something that I need to ask you…" Izuku said with some hesitation.

"Sorry, sweetie. You're a real cutie, but we just met so I'm gonna have to say no to a date." the blonde heroine said with a flirty smirk.

Flustered with a deep red blush and steam rising from his head, Izuku said, "Wha-What? No, that's not! I meam, you are, but I-I-I…".

But Mt. Lady just laughed and pat him on the shoulder as she said, "I'm just messing with you, kid. No need to get so worked up.".

And this did help calm Izuku down enough to the point that he didn't seem like he was going to faint at any minute. So, taking a deep breath, Izuku asked his question.

"Seeing as you're busy, I'll get straight to the point." he took a deep breath and asked, "Do you think that someone like me can become a hero… even if they're quirkless?"

Now that particular question caught her attention faster than she caught the attention of most of the men. And it was also one that caused some concerns to be raised in her mind.

"Without a quirk?" she asked. "What brought this on? And what do you mean by 'someone like'..."

She couldn't even finish her sentence as she slowly realized what this boy was asking. And she didn't need to fall back on what she learned as a UA student to know that what he had asked wasn't just a simple question. It was a silent cry for help.

Without waiting for a response, she placed a hand on Izuku's back and gently led him away from what was once a battlefield.

"Walk with me, kid. This a matter that, I think, is best to be discussed away from prying eyes and ears." she whispered to him before turning to Kamui Woods and saying, "You mind taking care of this guy? I'm gonna escort this kid to school just so other villains don't try anything."

"You sure you don't want help?" Kamui Woods asked in return.

"Nah, it's just a simple escort. I think we'll be fine." Mt. Lady replied.

And with that, she walked off while guiding Izuku away from the general public to a place where they could talk. A few minutes later when she was absolutely sure that there was no one around to eavesdrop on them, she had Izuku sit down on a bench as she took a seat next to him.

"Now that we're away from the media vultures, we can address what you just asked me." Mt. Lady said. "And I think that begins with a proper introduction. You already know me as Mt. Lady, but when I'm not in my hero persona I go by Yu Takeyama. Nice to meet you."

Izuku seemed to shrink in on himself a little as he replied, "I-I'm Izuku Midoriya… and I'm quirkless…"

***...To Be Continued…***

Ending A/N: And so, that's my new story up for you all! Now, I know that this chapter was kind of short, and I did have something planned, but then I decided that I wanted to deviate from how things happened in the first episode, and to do that I'll need to think about how I want things to go from here. So, I split the prologue into two parts. Part 2 will be coming out sometime next month, don't know when, but it will. But that's all I've got for now. Thanks for reading and Happy Thanksgiving, my hatchlings!
