It was a quiet night on the island, it was a calm, clear night, the moon was out shining gently in the night sky, the stars were out, twinkling gently in the night sky. In their huts, the castaways: Gilligan, the professor, the skipper, Mr. and Mrs Howell, Mary Ann and Ginger were sound asleep in their huts, well at least The skipper, Ginger, Mary Ann, Mrs. Howell, and the professor were sound asleep.
Gilligan, however was laying wide awake in his hammock, unable to sleep, something was causing his wakefulness, but what? what was it that kept him awake that night? Gilligan, turned over and tried to sleep, but his eyes would always pop open, he sighed, looked like this was a sleepless night for him. Careful to avoid stepping on the skipper and awakening him, Gilligan hopped out of his hammock and went to the window, he sighed looking out the window, why can't I sleep? he wondered. Gilligan sighed he decided to take a short walk to see if it helped make him sleepy. Gilligan, walked outside and picked up the lantern carefully he lit it and carefully picked it up, he found himself at the beach, he sat down on a tree stump, setting the lantern next to him. He sighed as he looked out at the ocean.
Gilligan sighed gain, he wished he could sleep, he had no idea why sleep eluded him tonight, Gilligan let his mind wanders. He sighed as he remembered the shipwreck, and how sometimes he would botch up some plans, Gilligan looked up at the night sky and closed his eyes wishing that just once he could do something right for once in his life. Gilligan opened his eyes and hoped a ship would land on their island and find him, then he could tell them they were shipwrecked and they could all get rescued.
Suddenly Gilligan had an idea. What if he stayed up on look out for ships and what if he saw a ship passing by and got it's attention, he could get everyone rescued and if he could do that then that would mean that, he could do things right. Yes it was a perfect idea. Gilligan smiled standing up, he was going to need supplies some wood for the signal fire, some fruit to eat and coffee.
Happily, he picked up the lantern and headed to the storage hut, once inside he looked around smiling he gathered a couple pieces of fruit and placed them in a small crate, next he gathered the saucepan, a coconut cup, and a small bag of coffee beans, he smiled thankful a crate of coffee had washed up a long the shore last week, he then picked up the lantern placing it in the crate and carried it outside.
He walked to the fire pit and taking out his matches he accidently spilled the matches everywhere, with the light of the lantern, he found each one and put them in the matchbox, he kept one out and lit the match using it to light the fire and got to work grinding the coffee and was soon stirring the coffee in the saucepan, as soon as it was ready, he poured the liquid into the coffee pot, he remembered to bring, then placed it in the crate, he washed the saucepan and put out the fire by kicking sand on it then picking up the crate he headed to the beach.
