Time & Tension
SUMMARY: The Bellas are headed for the semi-finals where they are up against the Footnotes & the Treblemakers.
Set following the events of What's Really Going On.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: I was originally going to call this Alternate Semi-Finals Aftermath.
But then I thought a better plot to take place at this point in the story is a follow-up to a previous one-shot of mine. So, let's see how this turns out.
CHAPTER 1:
The morning of the semi-finals, Beca rushed to the radio station with an excited look on her face. Luke had decided to play one of her tracks on the air.
"Hey! This is my track! You're playing my song right now! Do you like it? You put it on the radio!" Beca yelled from outside the booth while Luke was inside.
"I know a guy who does a good version of this song, but yours is better," Luke said, stepping out of the booth.
"Yeah, it is," Beca agreed.
"By the way, during Spring Break, I want you to take the night shift and play some of your music," Luke said.
"Okay. It'll definitely give me something to do that week," Beca said.
"Great. So where are you off to?" Luke asked.
"The Barden Bellas have the semi-finals tonight," Beca said.
"Really? I did not peg you as an acapella girl," Luke said.
"That's because you don't know her like I do," Jesse said, walking past Luke and Beca.
Stacie had decided to go on the trip; she was no good to herself or others, just moping around her room alone. Knowing that she would never make it back in time to make her flight home for the funeral if she rode with the rest of the Bellas, Stacie chose just to rent a car for the day and make the trip herself. She sent a quick text to Aubrey, knowing she needed to let at least someone know her plans.
The text read, 'I'll meet you all at the competition. I have to leave right away after we perform, so I'm driving myself."
Aubrey replied, "Are you sure you're ready?"
Stacie replied, "Yeah, I'm good. I need to do this."
With a two-hour drive ahead of her, Stacie took the time to get herself prepared to perform. She warmed up her voice, rehearsed her parts, and made sure she was ready to make her dad proud.
Meanwhile, Aubrey stood up at the front of the bus and nodded to the group on the bus.
"Alright, ladies. I know this week has been difficult for all of us - some more than others - but I believe we can do this. Let's show them what we got!" she said as the girls erupted into excited cheers and applause.
