(18)-Taken.
"Okay," Kyle began as he ran down the hallway with Megan. "We just needed to head down this hallway, through the lobby and then head outside."
"And you think that's where Cobey is, right?" Megan said.
"Right." Kyle said.
"I suppose that makes sense. His sneakers were gone too when i woke up." Megan said.
"There, ya see? What'd i tell ya?" Kyle said. The fact that Cobey's shoes were gone from the suite too just confirmed his hunch of the boy going outside to see the emerald light-show.
"When you said light-show, you meant the one outside, right?" Megan said.
"Yeah. And if my hunch is correct, that's where Cobey is." Kyle said.
"But what makes you think that's where he is?" Megan asked.
"He's a kid, kids are always curious about things. I know i was at that age." Kyle answered.
"Good point." Megan said.
Kyle and Megan soon arrived in the lobby-which was lit emerald green, where they stopped in their tracks. They then saw that the source of the light was that of the emerald green glow coming from outside through the glass double-doors, as well as the back of Cobey standing outside in the parking-lot 18 feet away from the building, looking up at the sky, still wearing the same clothes and sneakers he'd been in earlier, as he had no pajamas to change into, so he slept in the clothes he was wearing. All of outside was emerald green due to the glowing light.
"Cobey!" Kyle and Megan said in unison before they rushed to the double-doors, followed by them pushing the doors open, exiting the hotel and running out into the parking-lot.
"Look at the sky!" Megan said as she and Kyle stopped in their tracks, immediately noticed the change in the night sky. Except it wasn't night anymore. The once night sky was now completely covered with glowing, emerald green clouds, lighting up the whole area. Maybe even the whole city.
"What's up with the sky?" Kyle asked, stunned.
"Ya got me." Kyle said, just as lost and confused as Megan was.
"Is this what Cobey came out here to see?" Megan asked.
"Can you blame him for being curious? Who wouldn't wanna look at something so breath-taking?" Kyle said. Never in all his years had he ever seen anything like this. Emerald green glowing clouds covering the sky? At night? Whoever heard of such? Then again, a lot of things happened in the city that didn't in the country.
"He's not the only one. Look." Megan said.
Kyle then saw that all the vehicles in the street had stopped and the drivers had gotten out and were staring up at the emerald green cloud-covered sky, with some recording the sight with their cellphones. He imagined everyone else in the city had stopped what they were doing to admire the sky's glowing beauty as well. The emerald cloud-covered sky then turned a spooky, ominous green, ceasing it's glowing, making Kyle's stomach drop, and the wind began to blow.
"What happened to the glowing sky? It's all spooky green now." Megan said.
"Oh, that's not good." Kyle said.
"Why?" Megan asked, looking at Kyle.
"Because we got these same types of clouds back home in Kansas. They always came first before a...twister." Kyle said, realizing at the end of his setence what was happening.
"Twister?" Megan said, now looking horrified. "COBEY! GET BACK INSIDE NOW!" She screamed frantically as she turned her attention back to Cobey.
"Huh?!" Cobey said as he turned to face Megan and Kyle, followed by an emerald green twister descending down out of the clouds behind him-with several parts of it glowing, and the people on the streets screamed in sheer terror.
"COBEY!" Megan and Kyle screamed before they ran towards Cobey.
The twister made it's way towards Cobey from behind and swept the boy up into it.
"NO!" Megan shouted as she and Kyle stopped in their tracks. They watched as the twister ascended back into the omenous green cloud-covered sky, followed by the clouds disappearing, returning the night sky to the city of Arvada.
Megan fell to her knees as she and Kyle stared up in shock at the night sky. Tears slowly filled her wide eyes and ran down her face. "COBEEEEEEEEEY!"
