Volume I: Madame Web
Note: This is the third chapter of Volume I, this will explore the origins of Julia Carpenter, the second Madame Web as well her predecessor, Cassandra Webb, the original Madame Web. She will play a vital role in Peter's path to becoming a hero.
It's August 16, two days after the death of Ben Parker at the hands of Dennis Carradine. Today everyone is gathered around at the cemetery as Peter and May, along with closest friends attended the funeral. George and Gwen Stacy are there, along with Anna and Mary Jane Watson, everyone is dressed in black. A coffin is in view that carries Ben's body, there are flowers and a portrait of Ben Parker. Last but not least, a tombstone made for him in his honor.

Loving Husband and Uncle
'With Great Power comes Great Responsibility'
"We are all gathered here today to honor a man who's life has been taken too soon. I would like to invite his widow May Parker to come up and say a few words."
May stepped in front as everyone listened, including Peter.
"My husband was a great man, a man who dedicated his life to his family. A man who worked hard to provide for us, a man who would always lend a hand and do what's right. A man who took in his nephew after the death of his brother and sister-in-law, a boy whom he come to love and raise as he were a son. That's the man I come to love, a wonderful man. Ben Parker... thank you for everything. I'll never forget you and all the times we've had. Rest In Peace my love." May finished her speech.
Peter joined up with May as they watched his coffin being lowered into the ground to be buried.
"Peter, would you do the honors?" May said.
Peter picked up pieces of soil in his hand as he slowly tossed it onto the coffin. He did his part as two men now grabbed shovels as they picked up more soil to toss into the hole. Peter and May joined the others as they watch the burial. Unknown to everyone, a red haired woman in red shades is standing hiding nearby the tree.
Later everyone is at the Parker Residence for the wake. May and Peter are greeted by closest friends that wanted to pay their respects to them. George and Gwen Stacy came in first, Gwen wanted to be here for Peter in his saddest moment of his life, burring his uncle, she can understand his pain of loss as she lost her mother when she was just a little girl, George saw Ben as a friend through his daughter's friendship to Ben's nephew.
"I'm sorry for your loss May, I understand what it's like to have someone you love taken from you." George Stacy understands.
"Thank you George." May said.
"Peter, I'm sorry for your uncle. I want you to know that I'm here for you." Gwen said.
"Thanks Gwen, you're the greatest friend I could ever ask for." Peter said.
George and Gwen left the house as Liz Allan came by wearing black, Peter could see Liz here in his home.
"Liz?" Peter said.
"I know that you and me aren't close, but I am truly sorry for your loss. I wanted to pay my respects and show my support." Liz said sincerely.
Peter got as he and Liz hugged one another.
"Thank you Liz." Peter said.
Peter then sees Flash Thompson her wearing his suit. Liz turned around and sees her boyfriend here.
"I should go." Liz said.
"Of course, thank you Liz." Peter said.
Liz walked out of the house not paying attention to Flash as she needed some space from him after the argument they had.
Flash walked up to Peter as two are in front of one another. Peter isn't sure how Flash is feeling right now given the incident that happened in Rockaway Beach.
"I'm sorry for your uncle." Flash extends his hand.
Peter hesitate but he shakes it.
"Thank you, it means a lot." Peter said.
"Yeah." Flash said.
The two finished shaking hands as Flash paid his respects to Peter for his loss. Despite his arrogant attitude, Flash still knows honor, he may not be on good terms with Peter and Liz, but he knows what's right in his heart.
Sometime later at Stacy Residence, George and Gwen returned home after the wake of Ben Parker, seeing Peter and May like that brought back old wounds of their loss of Helen Stacy, George's wife and Gwen's mother, it's not easy losing a loved one, but they learned to live with their loss as they have each other to keep them going.
"How are you holding up Gwennie?" George Stacy said.
"I'm alright, just Peter and May like that, it reminded me of mom." Gwen looking sad.
George sighed. "I know, some wounds never heal. But you and I have each other. You're all I have left to live for."
"And you're all I got, dad." Gwen smiled.
George and Gwen hugged each other for comfort.
"I need to get going, I'm going to interrogate Mr. Carradine. Are you going to be okay here alone?" George Stacy asked.
"I'll be fine dad, I promise." Gwen said.
"Okay, take care." George Stacy said.
"You too." Gwen said.
George left the house, leaving Gwen home alone.
Mary Jane is in her room, still worried for Peter given that he just lost the only father figure Peter ever had. She turned to her computer and uses the internet, she typed in recent news, she got some results, she clicked one and a video is playing.
"For today's news, Dennis Carradine, a career criminal was just arrested last night for the murder of 56 year old Benjamin Parker of Forest Hills, Queens. Mr. Carradine broke into the residence and shot Ben Parker in his home and stole his car. Police were able to chase him to an empty building, where they found Mr. Carradine beaten and his wrist broken. Though it's unclear what happened to him, but we got footage of Mr. Carradine being dragged out by police"
The news shows video of Dennis Carradine ranting about his attacker.
"He did this to me, a luchador in red broke my wrist! He tried to kill me! He's still out there! Look for a luchador in a red mask! He's the one you want! A luchador in a red mask!" Dennis Carradine ranting.
"And there you have it. Apparently he claims that a luchador in a red mask assaulted him. Whatever the case is, Mr. Carradine will be facing charges from Armed Robbery, Breaking and Entering, Grand Theft Auto, and Murder."
Mary Jane stopped playing the news as the story of a luchador in a red mask sounds farfetched. She then remembered the night that Ben died.
(Flashback)
Mary Jane looked out her bedroom window and sees someone jumping out of Peter's bedroom window. He was wearing a red luchador mask running through his backyard and jumping up over the fence.
(Present)
That same night later, a luchador attacked Mr. Carradine after Ben died. Mary Jane put two and two together, she figured it out, Peter and this mysterious luchador are one and the same.
"My god... Peter." Mary Jane is shocked by this revelation.
At the 13th precinct, George Stacy enters the interrogation room and sees Dennis Carradine with a cast on his arm, not to mention the bruises on his face. Someone clearly did some damage to this man, this wasn't self inflicted.
"Dennis Carradine, you're brought here because you're face charges from armed robbery, breaking and entering, grand theft auto, and last but not least, the murder of Ben Parker. What do you say to that?" George Stacy said.
"What happened to that old man was an accident." Dennis Carradine stated.
George Stacy slammed his fists at the table, making Carradine flinch.
"That man happens to be a friend of mine, so I'd be careful what comes out of you mouth next!" George Stacy not happy.
George took a seat, looking a lot Carradine.
"Tell me who did this to you. These injuries weren't self inflicted. Clearly you weren't alone when we found you." George Stacy interrogates.
"No... I wasn't alone. A man in a red luchador mask came out of the shadow and attacked me. I tried to protect myself by shooting him, but he was quick and strong. Look at me, he broke my wrist. Then he kicked me hard. He had his hand around my neck, choking me. He was about to kill me until he stopped. He let me go and spared my life." Dennis Carradine explained.
"Who is he? This luchador?" George Stacy said.
"I don't know, but I seen him on the same day that I robbed the arena. He let me pass by as I escaped and I thanked him." Dennis Carradine explained.
"So he lets you escape with the money you stole, then later after you kill Ben Parker, he came after you and attacked you. Doesn't that seemed strange?" George Stacy said.
"I don't know why he attacked me, it felt personal to him, like I've wronged him somehow. He was about to put a hole in my face until he stopped, he said 'he wouldn't want this, that why you get to live'." Dennis Carradine said.
"Just like that?" George Stacy said.
"Yeah, just like that." Dennis Carradine said.
"Well whether this luchador is real or not, makes no difference to you. Your gun matches the ballistic from the bullet taken out of Ben Parker, plus we got a witness that ID'ed you as the killer. Enjoy prison Mr. Carradine." George Stacy stands up.
George walks out of the interrogation room only to see Lieutenant Yuri Watanabe exiting the other room where she watched.
"Do you really believe that he's telling the truth about a luchador attacking him?" Yuri Watanabe asked
"Doesn't matter what I think, I only focus on the homicide part of this case, we got enough evidence to lock him away for a long time." George Stacy stated.
Their phones got an alert on it. They pulled them out and sees what's happening.
"Jesus... a military caravan transporting weapons has been hijacked." Yuri Watanabe said.
"Get some unit and SWAT to that location immediately, Lieutenant." George Stacy ordered.
"Yes Captain." Yuri Watanabe replied.
Back in Queens at the Parker Residence, Peter is still in his room still feeling guilty about Ben's death, he chose not to stop the man earlier from escaping while he had the chance and now his uncle has paid the price with his life for Peter's wrong choice in refusing to stop the man who murdered his uncle.
"This is all my fault, Ben is dead and buried because of me. He tried to teach me about responsibility and I ignored it. With all this power, I did nothing. Maybe it's time for me to go back to being my old self, just a science nerd living a normal life." Peter said in his thoughts.
Peter got up and left the room, he went downstairs to see May in the kitchen alone, May sees Peter about to leave.
"Peter, where are you going?" May asked.
"I just need to get out for a while. Need to walk this off." Peter said.
"Peter... I'm just as hurt for his death as you are. But we need to learn to move on, we can't keep grieving for the rest of our lives." May said.
"I know... I should get going." Peter said.
"Peter... be careful." May said.
"I will." Peter walked out.
(Outside the house)
Peter walks down the street as Mary Jane came out and spotted Peter walking away. Mary Jane ran up and caught up to Peter who's wants to be alone, he still keeps on walking away.
"Peter, where are you going?" Mary Jane said.
"Around and alone." Peter stated.
"Peter, I need to talk to you." Mary Jane said.
"Later, I really should get going." Peter said.
"Peter, I saw you leaving the house last night." Mary Jane said.
Peter stopped as Mary Jane said those words.
"You're him? You're the luchador in the mask, aren't you?" Mary Jane said.
"Look, I don't know what you saw. But that's not me, at least not anymore." Peter walks.
"Peter, I saw you jumping out of a window and you hopped over the fence with ease. How is that possible?" Mary Jane said.
"Doesn't matter, it's never going to be happening again." Peter said.
"Peter, please talk to me." Mary Jane said.
"Listen MJ, I'm not who you think I am. I'm just a kid from Queens with a normal life, that all! Let's leave at that!" Peter protest.
Mary Jane couldn't believe that Peter raised his voice at her again.
"I'm sorry I was hard on you." Peter tries to apologize.
"I get it, you don't want to share anything with me. Sorry if I'm bothering you, excuse me." Mary Jane walked away.
Peter could see that he was too hard on Mary Jane. She was always there for him when he was having problems. Lately Peter has been bitter and pushing everyone away.
Peter continues to walk out of Forest Hills as he walks down the streets.
"I'm sorry that I was too harsh on MJ, but hopefully she'll understand. The only priorities right now is taking care of Aunt May and focusing on school. So that it's, no more powers, just go back to being old Peter Parker. Simple as that." Peter stated.
"Nothing in life is ever simple." Madame Web's voice.
Peter turned around and sees nothing, he heard a voice in his head.
"Who are you?" Peter said.
"The real questions is... who are you?" Madame Web's voice.
"Whoever you are, show yourself!" Peter said.
"I'm right behind you." Madame Web said.
Peter turns around and sees a woman with strawberry red hair dressed in a coat, wearing red shades. She looks familiar until it hit him, she's the woman he saw at the expo.
"I know, you were at the expo." Peter said.
"That's right, the same expo where the spider that bit you came from." Madame Web said.
"How did you...?" Peter said.
"Know? I've been watching you for sometime... Peter Parker." Madame Web smiles.
"How did you know my name?" Peter wondered.
"I know everything about you, parents died in a plane crash when you were 6 years old, raised by your uncle and aunt, best friends with Mary Jane, Gwen, and Harry. Soon to be sophomore at Midtown Science High School." Madame Web said.
"You know everything about me, what makes me so special?" Peter said.
"You were given great powers beyond anyone's dreams. You were chosen to use them for good." Madame Web said.
"No, I just happened to be bitten by a spider by mistake." Peter said.
"There is no mistake, you were chosen." Madame Web said.
"Well whatever this is, I don't want it. So ciao!" Peter walks away.
Madame Web grabbed his arm.
"You can't walk away from this." Madame Web said.
"Let me go." Peter demanded.
"Make me." Madame Web smile.
"Don't say I didn't warn you." Peter said.
Peter grabbed the hand but she counters it by grabbing his wrist. Peter is surprised that she could hold against his strength.
"What the?" Peter is confused.
"Want to try again?" Madame Web smiled.
Peter tries to move his arm but she manage to get behind with his arm lock behind his back. Peter couldn't believe that a woman like her is getting the best of him, especially since he's got powers.
"Okay, okay, you've made your point." Peter said.
Madame Web let's go of his arm and freed him.
"You have power, but you don't have control over it. You only scratched the surface of what you can do." Madame Web said.
"And what makes you such an expert?" Peter said.
Madame Web jumped onto a lamp post, Peter couldn't believe that she managed to jump the way he does.
"Because I'm like you, I have powers too." Madame Web said.
"Holy..." Peter said.
"Are you hungry? I could use a bite." Madame Web said.
Sometime later, Peter and Madame Web ended up at a Chinese restaurant in Queens. The waitress came by and gave them food on the table.
"Here you are."
"Thank you." Madame Web smiled and speaks Mandarin.
"You speak Chinese?" Peter is surprised.
"I learned it from my time in China." Madame Web said.
"Okay, you know who I am, but who are you?" Peter asked.
"My name is Julia Carpenter, but I also go by Madame Web. I was sent to seek you out." Madame Web said.
"But why me?" Peter said.
"Because... you're the chosen one." Madame Web revealed the truth.
Peter stayed silent until he giggled and laugh as soon as he heard those words.
"Me? You got to be kidding." Peter smiled.
"Why would I kid, I'm serious. You were chosen by destiny to become a hero." Madame Web said.
"Look at me, do I look like a hero to you?" Peter said.
"No, not yet, but soon." Madame Web said.
"What do you mean 'not yet'?" Peter said.
"Besides having spider powers, I was gifted by the powers of Madame Web herself. I'm able to see into the future, see events that are yet to be." Madame Web said.
"And what do you see in this future of mine?" Peter said.
"You will become a hero that will change this world, you will lead it into a new age of heroes." Madame Web explained.
"Look, I'm flattered that you think highly of me, but I'm not this person you claim to see me as, I'm just a kid from Queens living with his aunt. Look, I don't want this destiny or any of this. Not that I expected you to understand." Peter said.
"Don't I? You think that I chose to be this person? You don't think that I had a life before all this? Well, you're wrong." Madame Web said.
"How? Tell me?" Peter said.
"I use to be a normal young woman who had a promising future in life, I was in love and I was married, I have a daughter." Madame Web said.
"I didn't know that." Peter said.
"Her name is Rachel, she's only 9 years old. Believe me Peter, not being with her is the hardest thing I had to live through. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her, not being with her. Trust me Peter, I understand you perfectly." Madame Web said.
"Then why do you do this?" Peter said.
"Because this is my destiny, I was chosen by my predecessor to guide you, help you become a hero." Madame Web said.
"Okay, but first, tell me about yourself and how you got these powers." Peter asked.
"It's a long story, do you really want to know?" Madame Web said.
"Please, at least help me understand you." Peter said.
"Very well, it all started five years ago when I was a student at Oxford, I studied under Dr. Jonathan Drew, I was his assistant." Madame Web explained.
"Jonathan Drew?" Peter said.
"You've met him at the expo, remember?" Madame Web said.
"Yeah, it was his spider that gave me powers." Peter said.
"And mines too. Do you want me to continue?" Madame Web said.
"Please." Peter said.
(Flashback)
Five years ago
25 year old Julia Carpenter is on the phone talking with her 4 year old daughter Rachel via videocall.
"Hi Rachel!" Julia smiled.
"Mommy! I miss you." Rachel said.
"I miss you too sweetheart, I can't wait to come home and see you soon." Julia smile.
"I love you mommy." Rachel said.
"Love you too sweetheart." Julia kissed.
"Bye mommy." Rachel said.
"Bye Rachel." Julia hangs up.
She got back to aiding her professor who is in the middle of his experiment. In his lab, there's an old picture of him, his wife Miriam, and their daughter Jessica. Next to the picture is a classified folder from SHIELD that read's 'Project Rebirth', there are incomplete notes written by Abraham Erskine as well a blood sample taken from the project.
"Sorry about that, it's been months since I seen my daughter." Julia said.
"Don't worry Julia, I have a daughter too thought she's older now. I understand." Jonathan Drew said.
"Thank you, shall we?" Julia said.
"Of course, bring three vials of the serum." Jonathan Drew said.
Julia went over to the fridge and see vials of the serum, marked SSS, meaning Super Soldier Serum.
(Present)
"Hold on! Are you tell me that the serum that I've red in the comic books actually exist?" Peter said.
"Yes. Besides being a geneticist, he's one of the scientists who was contacted by a secret intelligence agency to recreate the serum. He managed to create his own version though it proven too dangerous to be used on a human being since the serum's side effects to the mind. So he decided to test them out on the spiders he worked on." Madame Web explained.
(Flashback)
Jonathan Drew injected the three spiders with the serum to see if the properties of the serum can enhance the traits the spiders already have. He placed them inside the small chamber he created for the spiders.
"Now to test out the vita rays effects on them. Goggles please." Jonathan Drew said.
Both Jonathan and Julia put on goggles for protection.
"Ready to commence testing in three... two... one." Jonathan Drew said.
Vita rays are activated inside the chamber as they watched as the spiders colors on them are changing. They turned off the vita rays as they sees the spiders are still standing and moving.
"Looks like a success." Jonathan Drew said.
"It worked." Julia smiled.
"This is only the beginning, if we study the venom from these spiders, we might be able to study it and create a cure for diseases. This will change everything." Jonathan Drew said.
"I hope that it does." Julia said.
"Let's get a sample from one of the spiders." Jonathan Drew said.
Julia grabbed a needle as she opened the chamber to extract a sample of the venom for study, but one of the spider got jumpy and bit Julia's hand.
"Oww!" Julia said in pain.
"Julia, are you alright?" Jonathan Drew said concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Julia said.
"Okay, I guess we can do this another day." Jonathan Drew said.
Julia pulled out her hand and walked towards the sink to wash her hands, she sees the bite mark the spider made.
(Present)
"So you got bitten by one of the spiders and gained powers." Peter said.
"Yes, because the serum was inside the venom from the spider, the DNA mixes with the serum, it caused a mutation to my body, it's DNA bonded with mines and before I knew it, I gained spider powers. His work on the spiders bore unexpected fruit." Madame Web said.
"So you and I are part super soldiers?" Peter said.
"Correct." Madame Web said.
"What happened after you gain your powers?" Peter said.
(Flashback)
Julia woke up and finds out that she's changed, her body became more athletic than before.
"I found out that I was changed forever. I didn't tell anyone about my new gifts, so I kept it a secret from everyone." Madame Web narrates.
Sometime later, Julia went to the gym and test out her new abilities. She put in weights as she lift it with ease. She found out that she's stronger than before.
Later, she ran out into the field and jogs around to find out that she's faster than before. She jumped as she soon learns that she can leap high up than anyone can.
(Present)
"So what's happens afterwards?" Peter said.
"After my semester is over, I returned home and see my family again. Though it didn't last forever." Madame Web
(Flashback)
Julia returned home to the states as she tucked in her daughter to bed and kissed her on the forehead.
"Sweet dreams, Rachel." Julia whispered.
Julia left the room as she looked at their daughter sleeping. She walked out down the house until she heard a voice.
"Julia." Cassandra Webb calls out.
"Who's there?" Julia looks around.
"Someone who knows who you are and what you can do." Cassandra Webb said.
"How?" Julia said.
"Come to me and your destiny shall be revealed." Cassandra Webb said.
"Wait! What destiny?" Julia said.
(Present)
"So who was it that called to you?" Peter said.
"Her name was Cassandra Webb, the first Madame Web. She was a blind woman gifted with extraordinary powers." Madame Web explained.
"So is she too a..." Peter said.
"No, her powers are clairvoyance and telepathy. She knew everything, about what's happening and what's soon to happen." Madame Web continues her story.
(Flashback)
Julia found the house that belongs to Cassandra Webb.
"Come in, it's open." Cassandra Webb said.
Julia opens the door and enters the house. She looks around and found a woman bound to a wheelchair, wearing red shades.
"Julia Carpenter, welcome to my home." Cassandra Webb greeted.
"Who are you?" Julia asks.
"My name is Cassandra Webb, call me Madame Web, everyone does. I've been waiting for you." Cassandra Webb said.
"Why me?" Julia said.
"Because I'm dying, my end is near soon. You were chosen to succeed me and take my place." Cassandra Webb said.
"For what?" Julia said.
"To guide the chosen one, to help fulfill a prophecy I've foreseen." Cassandra Webb said.
"What prophecy? Explain." Julia said.
"Very well... five years from now a teenage boy will be bitten by a spider and shall be gifted powers beyond imagining. He's has been chosen to bring this world into a new age and restore the balance between good and evil. He shall become a great hero unlike any other." Cassandra Webb explain the prophecy.
"What does this got to do with me?" Julia said.
"You shall train him and help guide when needed. That is your destiny." Cassandra Webb said.
"Look, I'm just a mother who has a daughter to think about, I have a life that I don't want to give up. I have everything." Julia said.
"You won't have everything if you don't fulfill your destiny. Without the chosen one, there can be no balance and this world, no this entire universe will be fallen into chaos. There will be no future to live for, not even for you own daughter. Are you willing to give up this responsibility because you chose to do nothing?" Cassandra Webb said.
Julia has everything to live for, her husband and their daughter mean everything to her. As a mother, she promised herself to all do right by her daughter so she could have a future to live for.
"What do you need me to do?" Julia said.
"First, you must have training, learn to fight so that when the time comes, you'll pass your knowledge to the chosen one." Cassandra Webb said.
(Present)
"So what did you after talking with Cassandra?" Peter wondered.
"I left my family behind and started my own journey." Madame Web said.
(Flashback)
Julia is back home after talking with Madame Web, she began to pack up her stuff into a backpack. She sees her husband still asleep as she left a note.
She quietly exits the room, she stopped by her daughter's room and sees Rachel still asleep.
"I wish that I didn't have to leave you, but I must, for you. The day you were born you made me the most happiest woman on the planet. I love you Rachel, I'll always have." Julia teared up.
Julia kissed her daughter on the forehead and looked at her for the last time. She then left the room as she left her family behind.
(Present)
"I'm sorry that you left your daughter. Did you ever think about going back to her?" Peter said.
"Everyday... not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Leave her was the hardest thing I've ever done." Madame Web said.
"So why do you do it? Why leave those you love behind?" Peter said.
"Because there is a change that is coming, you will help bring that change." Madame Web said.
"So what did you do after you left your family?" Peter said.
"I've traveled the world to learn." Madame Web said.
(Flashback)
Julia was still in the states as she is training in Kickboxing, she learned the kicks from her instructor, she excelled well in her training. She kicked the bag while restraining herself from using too much force in her strikes.
(China)
Julia is training in Beijing under a master to learn Wushu, she follows the stances and does some acrobatics. She also trained under another master in Wing Chun, learning to block, trap, and counterattack an opponent.
(Russia)
In Moscow, she wrestled with a master learning Sambo, she did the flying armbar as she wrapped her legs onto the man's arm, trapping him.
(Thailand)
In Bangkok, she trains in Muay Thai, the art of eight limbs, she uses her elbows and knees to hit the bag.
(Indonesia)
In Jakarta, she learns the art of Silat. Using kick while on the ground and fighting off multiple enemies simultaneously with violence.
(South Korea)
In Seoul, she further her training in kicks as she learns Taekwondo, she kicks every board with perfect accuracy. She also trained in Hapkido, learning wrist locks and manipulation on an opponent.
(Japan)
In Tokyo, she learns Judo, a man from behind grabbed her shoulder but she grabbed his hand and pulled it, she tossed him down. She even learned Karate from another master, she does the Kyokushin Wheel Kick to destroy the board one of the trainers was holding up for her.
(Israel)
In Israel, Julia is being trained by military men in the military style of Krav Maga, she uses grapples techniques to break or disarm opponents wielding weapons such as knives and guns.
(Mexico)
She trains under a luchador to learn the wrestling style of Lucha Libre. She jumps up and wraps her legs around his neck and tossed him down.
(Brazil)
In Rio, she trains in the dancing art of Capoeira, using her flexibility to adapt to the music, this particular martial art will work very well with her spider powers. She even learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, she jumps and wrapped her legs on the guy's neck.
(Present)
"I spent three years training under masters to learn martial arts and mix them into a fighting style suited for our powers. Everything I've learned is to train you." Madame Web said.
"Train me for what?" Peter said.
"For the battles that you will soon fight." Madame Web explained.
"Look... I'm flattered that you think that I'm someone who can save the world, but that's not me. It never will be, excuse me." Peter stands up.
Peter is walking out of the restaurant not wanting to listen to anymore of this nonsense. Madame Web got up and left the money on the table.
(Outside the Chinese Restaurant)
Peter walks out as Madame Web follows after him.
"Peter! You can't run away from your responsibilities. You were given a great power, it's your responsibility to use them for good. You have a chance to be a hero and you're throwing that away." Madame Web said.
"Some hero I turn out to be!" Peter yelled as he teared up, not too happy. "I had a chance to do the right thing, just one chance, and ignored it... my uncle is dead, he's burden six feet under because of me... I don't know why I was chosen but you got the wrong guy, I'm no hero."
"Peter... you made a mistake of doing nothing, that mistake took someone from you. But that's why they're called mistakes, so you can learn from them, be a better man." Madame Web said.
Peter has tears in his eyes. "It's all my fault that he's dead. I can't go through that again... I won't."
"Are you willing to let someone else you love to die because you won't do nothing?" Madame Web said.
"What are you talking about?" Peter ask.
"I see a glimpse of someone close to you, that person is in danger." Madame Web said.
"Who?" Peter said.
"Allow me to show you." Madame Web shows off her ability.
She extends her hands and unleash a web of psionic energy and shows Peter a glimpse of the future.
Peter sees his friend Gwen Stacy in the vision, she's tied up to a chair and drowning in water. Gwen is struggling to get freed but she's tied up too tightly, Peter sees that she's closing her eyes as she drowned.
"No... please, not her, Gwen!" Peter pleaded.
Madame Web stopped the web and ended the vision.
"Gwen... when will this happen?" Peter is worried.
"It'll happen... in time. But her fate is up to you. The question is, are you going to stand by and watch as your friend dies because you chose to do nothing... or are you going to step up and assume your responsibility and use your powers to save lives." Madame Web said.
"What if I fail, and she dies because of me?" Peter said.
"You will face hardships and losses in the future ahead, but you can overcome them and keep on fighting." Madame Web said.
"How?" Peter said.
"By using the lessons that your uncle taught you, do you still remember them?" Madame Web said.
"Yes... with great power comes great responsibility." Peter quotes Ben's words.
"That's right... take that lesson to heart." Madame Web said.
Peter remember that Ben would always do the right thing in life. Ben made a choice to save May that night despite the fact that his life was in danger. He remembered the promise he made to Ben to take that lesson to heart.
"Alright... I'll do it. I won't let someone else die because of me. I accept what you have to offer me. Teach me." Peter agreed.
"Excellent... we start training tomorrow. Have a good night." Madame Web leaves.
The next day as Peter and Julia are at an empty warehouse to see some equipment already here for training. Both of them are dressed for training.
"Wow, you sure plan ahead. So what's first for training?" Peter said.
"First we're gonna test out your abilities to see how much control you have over them. As you are already aware you have the strength of a spider, which is good though we need to see how much control you have over your strength. See the punching bag?" Julia said.
"Yeah." Peter said.
"Hit it." Julia said.
Peter stepped up close to the punching bag, he had his fist ready as he fire off his first punch, he used too much force in his strike that the bag ripped off.
"How was that?" Peter smiled.
"Not bad, if you're looking to kill someone. You used too much strength in your punch. That much strength can be fatal to a normal foe. Use the right amount of strength so that's it not lethal. Watch me carefully." Julia explained.
Julia puts up another bag as she demonstrate her strike. She punches the bag with very little force that the bag didn't break off.
"See, uses less momentum in your strikes so that you will not kill anyone. Now try it yourself." Julia said.
Peter steps up as he focuses on pulling back his strength in his strikes as to not overdo it. He executes his strikes with less strength as the bag didn't break.
"Whoa!" Peter said.
"Not bad." Julia smile.
(Next lesson)
Peter is blindfolded as he can't see anything.
"For this next lesson, you possess a precognitive sense that alerts you of danger and allows you to predict movement. It's called a spider sense." Julia explained.
"Nice." Peter smiled while blindfolded.
"You'll get a tingle feeling in your head as danger is nearby or someone is threatening you. Now let's begin." Julia said.
Julia walked away leaving Peter alone still blindfolded. Julia turns on a tennis ball machine.
"Heads up!" Julia said.
The machine fires off the first ball as Peter's spider sense tingles. He moved as the ball missed him. Another ball fires again as Peter jumped up over the ball.
"Not bad!" Julia smiles.
(Next Lesson)
Both Peter and Julia are hanging upside down on their hands on chairs as to not loss balance.
"What's the point of all this?" Peter said.
"You possess an equilibrium that helps you maintain balance on almost anything." Julia said.
(Next Lesson)
Peter watched as Julia does some gymnastics maneuvers. She's quite flexible and agile. She stopped with the flips as she stands on her feet.
"As you can see, we're both have a superhuman agility and reflexes that makes uses agile, we're able to move our bodies to it highest limits. Now you try." Julia said.
Peter already watched as Julia performed gymnastics and acrobatics. He runs as he does some flips and swings around. Julia is impressed on how adaptive Peter is with his abilities. Peter stopped with the flips and landed on his feet.
The next day after Julia taught him how to control his powers, the real lesson begins, his training in martial arts.
"So this is the next lesson, teaching me how to fight. What are you teaching me Miyagi?" Peter smiled.
"This isn't a wax on wax off lesson, this is very real. So take this seriously. These lessons are to help you survive a fight against foes who are as strong as you, maybe even stronger. For today, you'll learn Kickboxing, let's start with the jabs and crosses. Follow my lead." Julia shows a jab.
Peter follows Julia's lead as he learns to throw punches.
Later Julia hold up a bag as Peter throws some proper punches.
Next she demonstrated some kicks for him to learn. Peter was able to learn quickly from watching her and following her training.
He then kicks the bag with his legs as he learned everything Julia taught him about Kickboxing.
(Next Day, Wing Chun)
Peter learns Wing Chun as Julia shows him how to block and counterattack an opponent, Peter watched as she demonstrated some movements for him to learn.
Later she uses a Wing Chun dummy for him to use to practice the techniques.
Later after that, Julia does the strikes as Peter blocks ever incoming attack.
(Next Day, Taekwondo)
Julia trains Peter to improve his kicking technique by learning Taekwondo, she sets up a paddle as she demonstrates some high kicks and strikes with perfect accuracy.
Later, Julia holds a paddle as Peter uses a roundhouse kick on the paddle.
Next she holds it for him to do a spinning hook kick as he managed to do it so proficiently, she smiled as he's progressing so fast even for a teenager.
(Next Day, Muay Thai)
Julia uses the punching bag to demonstrate a knee strike to it as this martial art uses the elbows and knees as weapons.
Peter is front of the punching bag as he run and jumps he does the flying knee to it.
Next Julia does the reverse elbow strike on the bag as Peter watches and learns how to do the technique.
(Next Day, Capoeira)
Julia trains Peter in the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira which would work well with his flexibility and maneuverability, Julia teaches him the Martelo de Negativa, she strikes the bag with much momentum. Peter could see that this martial art uses the whole body as a pendulum.
(Two weeks later)
Over the next two weeks, Julia trained Peter in a mix of martial arts such as Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Taekwondo, Krav Maga, Hapkido, Silat, Wushu, Wing Chun, Judo, Karate, Sambo, and Lucha Libre. After two weeks of training, Peter and Julia face off each other to test out his new fighting style.
"Ready?" Julia asks.
"Ready!" Peter said.
Julia throws the first punch as Peter anticipated her strike and dodge it, she does a sweep kick but he jumped back and dodge the sweep. Peter then runs and jumps to wrap his legs around her neck and flips her down. Peter pinned her to the ground and stop his fist before it hits the face.
"You are ready." Julia smiles.
Peter got up and offered his hand, Julia took it and he helped her up on her feet.
"Amazing, after two weeks of training, you've been mold into a warrior like no other. There is nothing more I can teach you. My work is done." Julia said.
"Thank you for all your help. I hope that with the lessons I've learned, I'll be able to help Gwen and anyone else who needs it." Peter said.
"You will, just remember the words that your uncle taught you." Julia said.
"With great power comes great responsibility. I'll never forget it." Peter said.
"This is where we part ways, you'll have to explore your journey as a hero alone, but I'll be there when I'm needed. This is goodbye." Julia said.
"Goodbye and thank you." Peter smiled.
"Oh, one more thing, if you're gonna fight out there, you'll need a suit and a name." Julia then walks out.
Peter watched as Julia Carpenter is leaving. Julia then remembers that day that Cassandra Webb died.
(Flashback)
Sometime after Julia returned from her journey of training. She sees Cassandra Webb resting on the bed as her time came.
"Julia.. I'm glad that you're here. My time is near, I must leave this world knowing that I played my role. You must carry on my mission and guide Peter Parker to the right path. The only thing I can give you is my powers. Your hand please." Cassandra Webb extends her hand.
Julia extends her hand and grabbed Cassandra's as she felt something happening. Cassandra is giving Julia her powers.
Julia sees the web and watches certain events that are soon to happen in the future.
She sees Spider-Man showing himself to the world for the first time.
She sees Spider-Man along with the newly formed team of heroes called the Avengers.
Peter bonding with the symbiote forming the black alien suit.
She saw villains such as Doctor Octopus, Venom, Jackal, and the Green Goblin.
Spider-Man with two spider themed heroes such as Ghost-Spider and Kid-Arachnid.
An older Peter wielding the infinity gauntlet with the six infinity stones, he uses it against Thanos.
One future where Peter becomes Captain Universe.
Julia seen too much of the future as it became a lot for her to process. Unfortunately Julia became blind as a result of gaining the powers of Madame Web.
"You seen the future, now you must carry on as the new Madame Web. It is your... destiny... good... bye." Cassandra Webb said her finals words.
Cassandra Webb finally died in her bed as Julia became reborn as the new Madame Web.
"Goodbye... and thank you." Julia said.
(Present)
Julia continues to walk away as she still has a mission of her own to follow, they're path will cross again someday.
Peter is at the cemetery as it's been a while since the funeral. He looked down at Ben Parker's grave.
"Hey Uncle Ben, it's been awhile, sorry I could be here, I've been busy. I want you to know that I never understood the words you said to me, at least until it was too late. Now I understand, when you have a great gift it's your responsibility to use them to help others. I promise you that I will uses these powers to help protect everyone who needs it. I won't let you down again. I love you Uncle Ben and thank you." Peter teared and smiled.
Peter left behind flowers to pay his respects to the man who raised him and loved him like a son. He made a promise to Ben to keep the lesson he taught him to heart.
At the Watson Residence, Peter knocked on the door as Mary Jane opens it.
"Hi." Peter said.
"It's been a while since you last spoke to me, given that you wanted nothing to do with me." Mary Jane said.
"MJ, I know I was hard on you, and I'm sorry. I know that you were only trying to help me and I pushed you away. I'm a jerk, no debating that. At least please let me tell you why, you deserve that." Peter pleaded.
Mary Jane is still mad at Peter for keeping her out of his life, but she could see the old Peter in him, the kinder one.
"Come in." Mary Jane invited him.
Peter and Mary Jane went up to her room. They're both alone now.
"Okay, you have five minutes starting now." Mary Jane stated.
"Really?" Peter said.
"Four minutes, fifty five seconds." Mary Jane counting down.
"Okay... uh... I... I..." Peter thinking up what to say.
"You..." Mary Jane said.
"I'm trying to say something here, it's difficult to explain." Peter said.
"If you don't want to tell me, then leave." Mary Jane said.
"Can't tell you... I can only show you." Peter said.
"Show me what?" Mary Jane said.
"Okay, here's goes." Peter jumped up and hangs from the ceiling.
Mary Jane couldn't believe her eyes, Peter is upside down hanging from the ceiling.
"Oh my..." Mary Jane is shocked.
Peter finally revealed his secret to Mary Jane.
