Lincoln vs Hau (Round Two)
After Lincoln got done passing his Mount Hokulani Observatory Island Trial; he and the rest of his group were at the nearby Pokemon Center, getting Lincoln's Pokemon treated.
"You're doing well in your Island Challenge, Lincoln." said Alola Lana.
"Where's the next trial gonna be at?" asked Lincoln.
"It's at this abandoned supermarket on Route 14 called Thrifty Megamart." replied Sophocles.
"I'll go there this upcoming weekend." said Lincoln.
"Actually, I think there's a teacher workshop this week, so we have Thursday and Friday off." said Lillie.
"Sweet." said Lynn. "I can come here to train my Pokemon for the Battle Royale Tournament."
"And I can do my next Island Trial sooner." said Lincoln.
"Let's head back to Malie City." said Alola Lana.
After Lincoln gets his Pokemon back, they group exit the Pokemon Center, and enter the observatory's parking lot where the Exeggutor Bus was waiting.
"Gonna ride to the bottom?" asked Kiawe.
"We'll head there on foot." said Lynn as she grabs Lincoln's wrist and starts pulling him down the mountain road with their cousins following after them.
"Those Louds are something else." said Kiawe as he and the other Alola kids start walking over to the bus.
Twenty minutes later, the Loud children finally make it to the bottom of Mount Hokulani.
"It's always quicker to head down a hill than up one." said Shelby.
"That's because gravity works with us on the way down instead of up." said Lincoln.
"Leave that science junk to Lisa." said Lynn.
Soon, the bus that brings people up and down Mount Hokulani arrives, and the Alola children all climb off it.
"Can't believe you beat us down here on foot." said Kiawe.
"What can I say?" asked Lynn. "Uncle Lance trains my cousins a lot, and that workout schedule I gave Lincoln for that pancake race thing really improved his stamina and speed."
"So, what now?" asked Sophocles.
"Let's hang around Malie City for a bit more." said Lillie.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "It'll mean more time away from Chandler."
"That's definitely a plus there." said Shelby.
The group head down Route 10. As they do, Shane sees what appeared to be a bluish green pinecone with eyes hanging from a tree branch.
"Hey, cuz; what's that Pokemon?" asked Shane, pointing at the Pokemon. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Pineco, the Bagworm Pokemon. Motionless, it hangs from trees, waiting for its bug Pokémon prey to come to it. Its favorite in Alola is Cutiefly." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"It's been a while since I caught a Pokemon; I'll catch this one." said Shane, pulling out a pokeball. "Toucannon, go!" He throws Toucannon's pokeball, and releases him. "Toucannon, use Peck!" Toucannon flies at Pineco while his beak glowed white. A green force field appeared around Pineco and it blocks Toucannon's attack. Pineco leaps at Toucannon and rams him with incredible force; it flinches in pain.
"That must've been Take Down." said Kiawe.
"Toucannon, use Pluck!" said Shane. Toucannon flies at Pineco while his beak glowed white and he jabs Pineco with it, dealing super effective damage. Pineco spins towards Toucannon and rams him, dealing damage.
"Toucannon, use Fury Attack!" said Shane. Toucannon flies at Pineco and repeatedly jabs it with his beak, dealing damage, and knocking it to the ground.
"I think you can catch it now." said Lincoln. Shane nods before pulling an empty pokeball out of his backpack and throws it at Pineco, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggled a few times until it clicked.
"Yes! I caught a Pineco!" said Shane; he walks to Pineco's pokeball and picks it up. Lincoln uses his Rotom Phone to look up Pineco's information.
"This says Pineco's male, he knows Tackle, Protect, Self-Destruct..." Lincoln began to say.
"Not going to use that move." said Shane. Lincoln nods and smiles in response before continuing looking up Pineco's information.
"He also knows Bug Bite, Take Down, Rapid Spin, Bide, Natural Gift, and Spikes." said Lincoln. "He has the Sturdy ability, which prevents him from being taken down in one hit."
After Shane returns Toucannon to his pokeball, the group continued walking until they reach Malie City.
"Hey, everybody!" Mallow's voice calls out; the group looks to see the green-haired girl running over to them.
"Hi, Mallow!" said Lincoln. Mallow runs over to Lincoln and wraps her arms around him in a hug, making him blush.
"I missed you all." said Mallow as she strokes the back of Lincoln's head, making his face turn completely red, and his friends and family giggle.
"So how did Chandler do in his Island Trial?" asked Lynn without any interest in her voice.
"He passed." Mallow says with a frown as she lets Lincoln go.
"Dang it." said Lynn.
"Did he do anything dumb?" asked Shiloh. (a/n: That was a rhetorical question.)
"Well, he put his arm around my waist." said Mallow in a creeped-out tone of voice.
"What?!" Lincoln replied while he clenches his teeth and fists.
"How did that make you feel?" asked Kiawe.
"It made me uncomfortable." said Mallow as she shudders at the memory.
"That's all I needed to know." said Lincoln as he punches the palm of his hand.
"Want some advice on how to punch someone and make it really hurt?" asked Lynn.
"Please." said Lincoln.
"I already gave him a black eye." said Mallow as she rubs the fist she punched Chandler with.
"Nice." said Lynn.
"Anything else?" asked Shane.
"I threw the little creep into some bushes." said Mallow.
"Were there thorns in them?" asked Shane.
"No." said Mallow with disappointment in her voice.
"Dang it." Lincoln replied.
"So, how did Lincoln do in his Island Trial?" asked Mallow.
"He passed it." said Sophocles.
"That's great." said Mallow before she kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him smile and blush.
"Anyway, we were gonna hang out here for a bit before we head back to Hau'oli City." said Lillie.
"Can I join you?" asked Mallow.
"Of course; it's not like you had to ask." said Lynn.
"You can all show me around." said Mallow.
"Let's go then." said Lincoln before Mallow grabs his hand, making the two blush before they start walking around the city.
"This city doesn't look like any city we've seen in Alola so far." said Shelby.
"That's because it's modeled after the Johto Region." said Sophocles.
"Johto Region?" Lincoln replied.
"It's another Pokemon Region." said Sophocles.
"There's another area with Pokemon in it?" asked Shelby.
"There's plenty of places like that in the world." said Sophocles.
"That is so cool!" said Lincoln.
"Maybe we'll see another someday." said Shiloh.
"I hope so." said Shelby.
'Although I have a good reason to stick around here.' said Lincoln as he looks over at Mallow with a smile.
"Alola, everybody!" a familiar voice calls out, making everyone look to see Hau running over to them.
"Hey, Hau!" said Lincoln.
"Long time, no see." said Hau.
"Yeah, we've been busy with school, and working on my Island Challenge." said Lincoln.
"How much stronger have you gotten?" asked Hau.
"Well, he did just pass his Mount Hokulani Observatory Island Trial." said Sophocles.
"Sounds like you've improved." said Hau.
"I sure have." said Lincoln.
"Can I have a battle with you?" asked Hau.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "It'll give my Pokemon some battle experience."
"Okay then." said Hau.
The group exits Malie City and find a wide-open area that gave Lincoln and Hau plenty of space for their battle.
"How many Pokemon are we using?" asked Lincoln.
"Five each." said Hau.
"Okay." said Lincoln. He and Hau each pull out a pokeball.
"Raichu, go!" said Hau, throwing a pokeball and releasing an Alolan Raichu.
"Go, Trevenant!" said Lincoln, throwing Trevenant's pokeball and releasing her.
"Raichu, use Psychic!" said Hau. Raichu's eyes glowed light blue; Trevenant becomes surrounded by a light blue aura and gets sent flying back, but she lands on her legs.
"Trevenant, use Shadow Claw!" said Lincoln. Trevenant leaps at Raichu while dark energy surrounds her hand and she claws Raichu with it, dealing super effective damage.
"Raichu, use Thunder Wave!" said Hau. Raichu releases rings of electricity from its body and they hit Trevenant; she begins to twitch.
"Trevenant's paralyzed." said Sophocles.
"Trevenant, try using Astonish!" said Lincoln. Trevenant fights through her paralysis and makes a scary face at Raichu, dealing super effective damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Feint Attack!" Unfortunately, paralysis stops Trevenant from attacking.
"Raichu, Electro Ball!" said Hau. Raichu forms a ball of electricity between its paws, and she launches it at Trevenant, hitting her, but not dealing much damage.
"Trevenant, try using Feint Attack!" said Lincoln. Trevenant fights through her paralysis and leaps at Raichu; she punches Raichu, dealing super effective damage.
"Raichu, use Spark!" said Hau. Raichu becomes surrounded by electricity and charges at Trevenant; Raichu rams Trevenant, but not dealing much damage.
"Trevenant, Shadow Claw!" said Lincoln. Trevenant fights through her paralysis and claws Raichu, dealing enough damage to knock Raichu out. "Way to go, Trevenant."
"Go, Lincoln!" cheered Shelby.
"That was awesome!" said Shiloh. Hau returns Raichu to its pokeball.
"You did great, Raichu." said Hau. He puts Raichu's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Noibat, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases a Noibat. "Noibat, Wing Attack!" Noibat flies at Trevenant and strikes her with its wing, dealing super effective damage.
"Trevenant, use Tackle!" said Lincoln. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Trevenant's attack.
"Noibat, use Bite!" said Hau. Noibat flies at Trevenant and bites her, dealing super effective damage, and making her flinch. "Now use Air Cutter!" Noibat flaps its wings and releases a gust of wind with energy blades in it and it hits Trevenant, knocking her out. "Way to go, Noibat."
"Don't worry, cuz; you can do it!" said Shane.
"Turn this around!" said Lynn. Lincoln returns Trevenant to her pokeball.
"You were amazing, Trevenant." said Lincoln. He puts Trevenant's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Lycanroc!" He throws Lycanroc's pokeball and releases him. "Lycanroc, use Accelerock!" His Lycanroc becomes covered in a white aura before he moves at Hau's Noibat with incredible speed and rams into it, dealing super effective damage.
"Noibat, use Bite!" said Hau. His Noibat flies at Lycanroc with its mouth open.
"Lycanroc, use Double Team!" said Lincoln. Multiple copies of Lycanroc appeared; Noibat tries to bite one, but the attack went right through it, indicating it was the wrong one. "Now use Rock Slide!" Rocks appear above Lycanroc and fly at Hau's Noibat, hitting it, and doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Nice one, bro!" said Lynn. Hau returns his Noibat to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Noibat." said Hau. He puts Noibat's pokeball back on his waist before he pulls another one off and tosses it, releasing a light blue, quadrupedal Pokemon with finlike ears, a white frilled collar around its neck, and a fish tail.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at Hau's Pokemon.
"Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokemon, and the evolved form of Eevee. Clean, clear waters are its usual habitat. When it's about to be attacked by an invading enemy, it dives into the water to hide." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Another Eevee evolution!" said Shelby.
"Vaporeon, use Water Pulse!" said Hau. His Vaporeon releases a pulsing mass of water at Lycanroc and hits him, dealing super effective damage; he starts to stumble around.
"I think Lycanroc's confused." said Sophocles.
"Lycanroc, use Crush Claw!" said Lincoln. His Lycanroc shakes off his confusion while a blue aura covers one of his front claws before he leaps at Hau's Vaporeon and slashes it; it then slumps a bit.
"Looks like Crush Claw weakened its defense." said Lillie.
"Vaporeon, use Acid Armor!" said Hau. His Vaporeon becomes covered in a blue aura that increases its defense. "Now use Quick Attack!" His Vaporeon then rockets at Lycanroc and slams into him, not doing much damage.
"Lycanroc, use Rock Tomb!" said Lincoln. His Lycanroc tries to attack, but his confusion kicks in, making him ram into a large rock instead, hurting himself.
"Vaporeon, use Water Pulse one more time." said Hau. His Vaporeon hits Lycanroc with another pulsing mass of water, this time doing enough damage to knock him out.
"Poor Lycanroc." said Shelby.
"He's tough." said Lynn. "He'll recover in no time." Lincoln returns Lycanroc to his pokeball.
"You were amazing, Lycanroc." said Lincoln. He puts Lycanroc's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Rufflet, go!" He throws Rufflet's pokeball and releases him. "Rufflet, use Hone Claw!" Rufflet's talons glowed red and becomes surrounded by an orange aura, raising his attack and accuracy.
"Vaporeon, Aurora Beam!" said Hau. Vaporeon fires a mulitcolored beam of energy from its mouth and it hits Rufflet, dealing super effective damage, and lowers his attack.
"Rufflet, use Aerial Ace!" said Lincoln. Rufflet flies at Vaporeon and rams it, dealing damage, and knocking it back.
"Vaporeon, Water Pulse!" said Hau. Vaporeon forms a blue ball of water in front of it and launches it at Rufflet, hitting him, and dealing damage.
"Rufflet, Wing Attack!" said Lincoln. Rufflet flies at Vaporeon and strikes it with one of his wings, damaging it.
"Vaporeon, Water Gun!" said Hau. Vaporeon releases a stream of water from its mouth, and it hits Rufflet, dealing damage.
"Use Slash!" said Lincoln. Rufflet flies at Vaporeon while his talons glowed white and slashes Vaporeon with them, knocking Vaporeon out.
"All right, Lincoln!" said Mallow.
"You're doing great, cuz!" said Shane. Hau returns Vaporeon to its pokeball.
"You were great, Vaporeon." said Hau. He puts Vaporeon's pokeball away and takes out another. "Tauros, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases a Tauros; it glared at Rufflet, making him nervous, and weakening his attack strength.
"That Intimidate ability is a pain when it's used against you." said Lynn.
"Rufflet, Aerial Ace!" said Lincoln. Rufflet flies at Tauros and rams him, knocking him back.
"Tauros, use Payback!" said Hau. Tauros releases streaks of black energy from his body and they hit Rufflet, dealing more damage due to Payback's power being doubled when the Pokemon that used it was hit before using it.
"Rufflet, use Slash!" said Lincoln. Rufflet flies at Tauros and claws it with his talons, dealing damage.
"Tauros, Horn Attack!" said Hau. Tauros charges at Rufflet and rams him, knocking him to the ground, unconscious.
"This battle isn't over, Lincoln!" said Lynn.
"Keep on battling!" said Shane.
"I will." said Lincoln before he returns his Rufflet to his pokeball. "You were great." He puts Rufflet's pokeball back on his waist and pulls off another one; he tosses it, releasing his Lucario. "Use Power-Up Punch!" His Lucario's paw glows orange as he strikes Hau's Tauros, dealing super effective damage to him; a surge of power rises up from Lucario due to Power-Up Punch's effect, raising his attack power.
"Gotta love that Power-Up Punch." said Lynn.
"Tauros, use Payback again!" said Hau. More black streaks of energy come out of Tauros and hit Lucario, not doing a lot of damage to him.
"Lucario, use Aura Sphere!" said Lincoln. Lucario forms a ball of blue energy between his paws and throws it at the Tauros, hitting it, and doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Fast ball, and that's strike three; you're out, Tauros!" said Lynn.
"One more to go, Lincoln!" said Shiloh. Hau returns his Tauros to his pokeball.
"You battled well, Tauros." Hau said before he puts Tauros' pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off. "You've gotten a lot stronger since our last battle, Lincoln."
"So have you." said Lincoln.
"Let's see you beat my strongest Pokemon." said Hau as he throws his pokeball, releasing a large, owl-like Pokemon with a white face that had brown feathers and a green brow framing it, along with white feathers on the rest of its body.
"Is that Rowlet?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at Hau's Pokemon.
"Dartrix, the Blade Quill Pokemon, and the evolved form of Rowlet. This narcissistic Pokémon is a clean freak. If you don't groom it diligently, it will stop listening to you." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"His Rowlet evolved." said Lillie.
"Dartrix, use Astonish!" said Hau. His Dartrix turns its back to Lucario, then quickly turns back around while making a weird face, startling Lucario, and making him fall over, hurting himself, and making him flinch; a surge of power rises up from him.
"Lucario's Steadfast ability increases his speed if he flinches." said Lincoln.
"Dartrix, use Pluck!" said Hau. Rowlet flies at Lucario and jabs its beak into Lucario's chest, dealing damage.
"Lucario, use Metal Claw!" said Lincoln. The spike on one of Lucario's wrists extend and turn metallic; he slashes Dartrix with it, dealing damage; a surge of power rises up from him.
"That attack gave Lucario a power boost." said Sophocles.
"Sweet!" said Lynn.
"Now use Quick Attack!" said Lincoln. His Lucario moves quickly at Dartrix and rams it, dealing damage.
"Dartrix, hurry and use Pluck again!" said Hau. His Dartrix jabs Lucario with its beak again, damaging him.
"Lucario, use Counter!" said Lincoln. His Lucario gives off an aura energy that explodes and washes over Dartix, not doing much damage to it; a green aura surrounds Dartrix.
"That must be Overgrow." said Lillie.
"Dartrix, use Razor Leaf!" said Hau. His Dartrix releases a powered-up barrage of leaves that hit Lucario, and even though it didn't do a lot of damage, the attack was a critical one and enough to knock him out.
"No way!" said Lynn.
"Poor Lucario." said Shelby. Lincoln returns his Lucario to his pokeball.
"You were awesome, Lucario." said Lincoln. He puts his Lucario's pokeball back on his waist and pulls off another one; he tosses it, releasing his Incineroar.
"Your Torracat evolved?!" asked Hau.
"You bet he did!" said Lincoln. "Incineroar, use Fire Fang!" His Incineroar leaps at Hau's Dartrix while his fangs were coated in fire and bites down hard on it, dealing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"He won!" cheered Shiloh.
"That was a great match!" said Lynn.
"Very intense." said Shane. Hau returns his Dartrix to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Dartrix." said Hau. He puts Dartrix's pokeball back on his waist and walks over to Lincoln who was being congratulated by his family and friends.
"Good match, Hau." said Lincoln.
"Same to you, Lincoln." Hau replied as he hands Lincoln pokedollars; he also reaches into his pocket and pulls out a light brown Z-Crystal that had the insignia of a Lycanroc's head in it.
"That doesn't look like any Z-Crystal I've ever seen before." said Lincoln as he notices that were diamond-shaped protrusions coming out of two sides of the Z-Crystal in Hau's hand.
"This is a Z-Crystal called Lycanium-Z." said Hau. "It's a Z-Crystal that can only be used by a Lycanroc that knows Stone Edge."
"Mine doesn't know that move yet." said Lincoln.
"When he does, that Z-Crystal will turn it into a move called Splintered Stormshards." said Hau.
"Sounds strong." said Lynn.
"My grandfather wanted me to battle you to see how much stronger you've become, and to give that to you if you beat me." said Hau before he hands the Lycanium-Z Crystal to Lincoln.
"Awesome! Two new Z-Crystals in one day!" said Lincoln.
"Nice!" said Lynn.
After a quick trip to the Pokemon Center to get Lincoln and Hau's Pokemon treated, the group called for some Charizards to bring them back to their lodgings/homes.
At the hotel the Louds were staying in, they were walking down a hall towards their room when they see an unwelcomed sight in the form of a certain redhead.
"Hey, Larry." said Chandler with a smirk.
"Alola, Chandler." said Lincoln with a glare.
"Check this out." said Chandler as he shows the Louds his Grassium-Z Crystal.
"Yeah, we heard you passed your trial." said Shelby.
"Well, check this out." said Lincoln as he takes out his two new Z-Crystals and holds them both over his head in one hand.
"How'd you get two?!" asked Chandler.
"One for passing my Island Trial, and the other was a gift from Kahuna Hala for defeating his grandson, Hau." said Lincoln.
"Big deal." said Chandler as he looks at the Z-Crystals held above Lincoln; if he'd been paying attention to Lincoln's other hand, he would've seen it form into a fist and be driven into his stomach, completely forcing all the hot air out of him, making him drop to his knees.
"And I also heard what you tried with Mallow." Lincoln said quietly so as not to disturb the other people who were on that floor.
"I'm so proud." said Lynn as she wipes a tear from her eye. As the Louds walked past Chandler who was still on his knees, Shiloh turns back towards him and kicks him in the butt.
"You're a jerk." said Shiloh. "And I'm not just realizing that now." As the Louds go into their room, Chandler stands back up and looks towards their door.
"I'll show them." said Chandler. "Once I crush Larry at the Alola League, they'll realize how awesome I really am!"
Lincoln has earned another new Z-Crystal for himself. What else will happen as the Louds' Alola adventure continues?
