Carrot Planting and the Steed Appears
The group head out to find one of the fields that Calyrex told them about to plant the carrot seeds in order to get what they need to lure out his steed.
"I hope we're able to help Calyrex." said Clyde.
"We will." said Sam.
Everyone continues until they reach the Giant's Bed and begin to look around.
"Hey, an active Pokemon Den." said Clyde, seeing a Pokemon Den. "You guys go ahead; I'll catch up after I check this den out."
"Okay, Clyde." said Lincoln as he and the others continued walking; Clyde walks to the Pokemon Den and jumps inside. He soon finds himself facing a Dynamaxed Conkeldurr. Clyde takes a pokeball from his waist.
"Gallade, go!" said Clyde, throwing Gallade's pokeball and releasing him. Clyde returns Gallade to his pokeball and enlarges it with his Dynamax Band; he throws it and releases Gallade, now Dynamaxed. "Gallade, Max Mindstorm!" Rings of psychic energy is unleashes from above Gallade and they hit Conkeldurr, dealing super effective damage. Conkeldurr lets out a loud yell and a giant stone slab rises from in ground in front of it; the stone slab falls onto Gallade, but not dealing much damage.
"That looked like Max Rockfall." said Clyde. A sandstorm appears; both Pokemon are hit by the sand, damaging them. "Good thing fighting types aren't immune to sandstorms; Gallade, Max Knuckle!" Gallade begins surging with energy; a fist made of energy comes down from the sky and it hits Conkeldurr, damaging it. Energy surges through Gallade and raises his attack strength. Conkeldurr summons a fist of energy and it hits Gallade, but not dealing much damage; energy surges through Conkeldurr. The sandstorm hits both Pokemon, damaging them.
"Gallade, Max Mindstorm!" said Clyde. Ring of psychic energy is unleashed from above Gallade and they hit Conkeldurr, dealing super effective damage. Conkeldurr begins surging with energy; a pillar of energy shoots up from beneath Gallade and hits him, damaging him, and weakening his speed.
"Gallade, Max Strike!" said Clyde. Gallade begins surging with energy and a pillar of energy shoots up from beneath Conkeldurr and hits it, dealing damage, and weakening Conkeldurr's speed. The sandstorm hits both Pokemon, damaging them; the energy surrounding Conkeldurr explodes and it stumbles around. "I have no need to capture Conkeldurr." The Conkeldurr regained its senses and runs away. Moments later, Clyde and Gallade were outside the den; Clyde sees two gold nuggets, several berries, and a Technical Record that contains a move known as Reversal.
"I think I'll have Gallade learn this move; he could use more fighting type attacks." said Clyde. He uses the Technical Record on Gallade and he learns Reversal. After returning Gallade to his pokeball, he runs to catch up with the rest of the Loud Crowd.
Later, after Clyde catches up with everyone; the group reaches a walled-off area that had several gravestones inside.
"This must be one of the places that Calyrex mentioned." said Lana.
"I feel the presence of many lost souls here." said Lucy as she looks around.
"Let's just hurry and plant the seeds." said Lola. "This place and Lucy are giving me the creeps." Everyone then looks around until they see a garden bed nearby.
"Why would anyone put a garden bed in a cemetery?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Well, stuff is put into the dirt in cemeteries, so it would make sense in a creepy sort of way." said Luna.
"I see you have reached one of the fields." Calyrex's voice calls out, making everyone to see the King of Bountiful Harvests floating over to them.
"Hi, Calyrex." said Leni.
"If you plant the seeds in this field, then Shaderoot Carrots will grow." said Calyrex.
"Sounds like my kind of vegetable." said Lucy.
"It has been so long that my memory is hazy, but I believe my loyal steed would often partake in this sort of vegetable." said Calyrex. "If Shaderoot Carrots were what my steed preferred, it must've been a ghost type, mustn't it?"
"Sounds like a horse I wouldn't mind riding on." said Lucy.
"It's most vexing that I can't recall." said Calyrex. "I suppose we will see."
"Then let's get planting!" said Lincoln.
"I'll do it." said Lucy from behind Lincoln, startling him before he hands the carrot seeds to his goth sister. Lucy opens the package, digs several small holes in the garden bed, and plants the seeds into them.
"Kah, hah, hah!" Calyrex laughed. "Very good, very good. You have an able hand for working with soil!"
"I do a lot of grave digging." said Lucy.
"I play with dirt a lot." said Lana.
"Now then, it's time I did my part." said Calyrex as he floats over to the garden bed. "Let me show you my powers!"
"Do it, Calyrex." said Ronnie Anne.
Calyrex then starts to do a little jig in midair; after he was done, the garden bed started to glow blue and starts to shake.
"Here it comes!" said Lana as everyone looks at the ground to see what pops up... only for one white and purple stalk to appear.
"That's it?" asked Lola.
"I expected more." said Luna. Calyrex struggles to catch his breath.
"You planted so many seeds, and yet my powers could only get one to grow." said Calyrex. "To think that I have fallen so low! It truly breaks my heart."
"Don't be sad, Calyrex." said Leni.
"Do not worry, kind human." said Calyrex. "Soon, it will be time to bid my sorrow farewell!"
"I hope this helps us get your steed."said Sam.
"Now, human children." said Calyrex. "I must ask that you pull that Shaderoot Carrot free with all your might!"
"On it." said Lana as she walks over to the Shaderoot Carrot, grabs its stalk, and pulls with everything she's got until it pops out, revealing a purple, twisted carrot.
"Kind of weird-looking." said Lola.
"Well done, human child." said Calyrex. "That carrot will be the key to luring my loyal steed back to me."
"So, now what?" asked Lincoln.
"All you need are the Reins of Unity." said Calyrex.
"Reins of Unity?" asked Lincoln.
"They will amplify my power, letting me ride my loyal steed with ease." replied Calyrex. "But I doubt I shall ever get another set from the humans of the village." They suddenly hear a loud whinney and galloping; everyone looks to see a black, horselike Pokemon with a purple mane galloping by.
"What is that?" asked Lana.
"Spectrier, my loyal steed! Is it truly you?!" Calyrex asked the horselike Pokemon. "That glossy black pelt, that rough, violent gallop; it has not changed from the day we first met. Oh, it brings back memories." They hear the Pokemon, now identified as Spectrier, whinney from far away. "It is my belief that while my steed picked up on the scent of the carrot, it could not determine where the scent was coming from."
"So, what do we do?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Judging from the direction it ran off in, it must be headed to the village, in an attempt to pillage carrots there." said Calyrex. "If that is true, then Freezington's in danger!"
"We have to do something!" said Lincoln.
"Human children, we must make haste!" said Calyrex. The Loud Crowd nods and begin running to the direction of Freezington with Calyrex following after them; moments later, they arrived at Freezington.
"Okay; where's Spectier?" asked Clyde, looking around.
"There it is!" said Lincoln, pointing at Spectrier, who was walking through carrot patches; several villagers looked on with shocked expressions. The Loud Crowd run to where Spectier is. "Wait!" Spectier turned towards the Loud Crowd; it sees the Shaderoot Carrot in Lana's hand, and lets out a loud whinney before it began galloping towards them.
"I guess one of us has to battle it." said Ronnie Anne.
"I'll do it." said Lucy from behind Ronnie Anne, startling her. "If this Pokemon is a ghost type, so my Pokemon shout have an advantage."
"But Spectier would have an advantage over them, too." said Lincoln.
"Doesn't matter." said Lucy before pulling out a pokeball. "Decidueye, go." She tosses Decidueye's pokeball and releases him. "Decidueye, Sucker Punch." Decidueye leaps at Spectrier and punches it, dealing super effective damage. Spectier forms a ball of black energy in front of its mouth and launches it at Decidueye, hitting him, and dealing super effective damage.
"That was Shadow Ball." said Lucy. "Decidueye, Leaf Blade." Decidueye leaps at Spectrier while the tip of one of his arm wings glowed green and he slashes Spectrier with it, dealing damage. The Spectrier charges at Decidueye while its body glowed gold, but it goes right through Decidueye.
"Must've tried to use a normal type move; those don't work on ghost Pokemon like Decidueye." said Lincoln.
"Decidueye, Spirit Shackle." said Lucy. Decidueye shoots an arrow quill at Spectrier and hits it, dealing super effective damage. Spectrier forms a ball ball of energy with a red eye on it above it; dark blue energy rings fire out of the eye and they hit Decidueye, dealing super effective damage. "That was Hex; Decidueye, Shadow Sneak." Decidueye's shadow goes towards Spectrier and hits it, dealing super effective damage. Spectrier tries to kick Decidueye with its hind legs, but they go through him.
"Decidueye, Razor Leaf." said Lucy. Decidueye releases leaves from his body and they hit Spectrier, damaging it. Spectrier launches another Shadow Ball at Decidueye, hitting him, and dealing super effective damage. "Decidueye, Shadow Sneak!" Decidueye's shadow goes towards Spectrier and strikes it, dealing super effective damage. Spectrier drops to its knees and begins breathing, heavily. It gets up and begins running towards an elderly woman.
"Look out!" shouts Leni. Calyrex arrives at the village and sees Spectrier.
"Spectrier!" yelled Calyrex, causing Spectrier to stop; it lets out a whinney before running past the villagers until everyone loses sight of it.
"Are you all right?" asked the mayor, running to the elderly woman.
"Y-Yes; I feel like something stepped in to save me." replied the elderly woman. Lucy sees a tuft of black hair on the ground and walks to it; she picks it up.
"I wonder if this is Spectrier's." said Lucy. The mayor runs to Lucy who is joined by the rest of the Loud Crowd.
"How can I thank you enough for saving the people of this village?" asked the mayor. "I had no idea such a vicious Pokemon still existed in the tundra; why, it reminded me of that Pokemon in the fairy tales, the loyal steed of the king." He sees the tuft of black hair in Lucy's hand. "Hmm? What is that you have there?"
"It came from that Pokemon." replied Lucy.
"Is that a tuft of Black Mane Hair?" asked the mayor.
"Is that what this is?" asked Lucy.
"In the fairy tales, it is said that by weaving the hair of the loyal steed together with a radiant blossom grown by the king, it is possible to create the Reins of Unity, which links the king with its steed." said the mayor. "In fact, it was my own ancestors who used to weave the Reins of Unity, following an ancient tradition passed down over many years; of course, I myself have never seen any kind of radiant flower, and the method of making the reins has also been lost to time."
"Those reins sound like just what Calyrex needs." said Lincoln.
"In any case, we can't spend all day musing over fairy tales!" said the mayor.
"What's wrong with fairy tales?!" asked Lola.
"I must make plans and preparations!" said the mayor. "That Pokemon could well decide to pay us another visit, after all! Thank you very much, kind children!"
The Loud Crowd have just meet Calyrex's steed. What will they do to help him get it under his control? Wait and find out.
