Today is a pretty chill day at Shiz University. After class everyone hung out in the park. Laughing and joking with each other. Everything was so nice and peaceful. Elphaba had finally started to feel like she fitted in and belonged thanks to Glenda. The best friend she never knew she needed. She sat there in the grass on a blanket. Watching Glenda and Fiyero as they danced around with everyone else. As much as she hates to admit it she has developed a fascination with Fiyero. Which she knew was wrong. He was her best friend's boyfriend for Goodness sake. She could never act on these feelings so she kept them to herself. But there was one person who knew her all too well.
Nessarose: What are you doing?
Elphaba: Nothing just sitting here.
Nessarose: Sitting here staring at Fiyero...
Elphaba: WHAT?!
Nessarose: You can't lie to your sister I know you like him.
Elphaba: (embarrassed she looked around) Shut up before someone hears you.
Nessarose: Don't worry your secret is safe with me.
Elphaba: It's really stupid.
Nessarose: Yeah they never pick us.
Elphaba: What are you talking about you have Boq.
Nessarose: Yeah and so does Glenda.
Elphaba: She just has that effect on everyone.
Nessarose: Yes...
Just then Glenda and Fiyero was walking back.
Glenda: Oh I couldn't dance another step. (She said taking a seat next to Elphaba)
Fiyero: Well I could dance all night come on Elphaba. (He said holding his hand out to her)
Elphaba: You want me to dance with you?
Fiyero: Yeah your a great dancer. Come on
Glenda: Go on Elphie!
Nessarose: Yeah Elphaba go!!!!
Elphaba: Well okay... (She got up and dusted off her clothes)
Fiyero: Oh you don't need to do all that you look perfect to me. (Their eyes locked)
Elphaba: Well what are we waiting for.
They walked back over where the music was playing and had a ball. Elphaba had never laughed and danced so much in her entire life. She loved every moment of it. Fiyero holding her hand and swinging her around. Before they knew it was night time. Elphaba and Fiyero had danced that whole evening non stop.
Elphaba: Oh my goodness where did the time go?
Fiyero: It flies when your really enjoying yourself. (He said once again locking eyes with her)
Glenda: Yoo-hoo you two just forgot about me didn't you. (She said laughing)
Fiyero: Oh sorry honey I thought you were tired of dancing.
Elphaba: Yeah I'm so sorry Glenda.
Glenda: Oh stop it guys I didn't mind. But it is late Fiyero you wanna walk me back to my room.
Fiyero: Oh sure you coming? (he said turning his attention to Elphaba)
Elphaba: Oh I'm going to push Nessa back to her room then I will be up.
Fiyero: Oh okay just wanted to make sure you are safe.
Glenda: You know it's so sweet how you're always thinking about others honey. Isn't he just special?
Elphaba: Most definitely (she said smiling at Fiyero then looking at the ground) Well I better get going goodnight.
Fiyero: Goodnight Elphaba thanks for dancing with me.
Elphaba: Anytime... see you later Glenda.
Glenda: Okay Elphie...
Elphaba walked off completely confused. She knew she shouldn't be feeling what she felt for him but she did. She smiled pushing Nessa back to her room. Thinking about her and Fiyero dancing.
Nessarose: Stop whatever you're thinking Elphaba.
Elphaba: What?
Nessarose: He's your best friend's boyfriend.
Elphaba: Nessa look just because I feel a little something for him. I would never act on that. I love Glenda too much to ever do that to her! So don't worry okay?
Nessarose: Okay...
Elphaba: Well I better get back to my room it's a long walk to the other side of the school.
Nessarose: Okay see you tomorrow.
Elphaba walked back still thinking about dancing with Fiyero. It just made her day to have that moment with him. Just then she heard someone creeping up on her. She turned around to find nobody but Fiyero himself.
Elphaba: FIYERO YOU IDIOT YOU SCARED ME.
Fiyero: (He laughed) I'm sorry
Elphaba: What are you doing here anyway I thought you were still with Glenda.
Fiyero: I dropped her off and ran to find you.
Elphaba: You did... Why?
Fiyero: It's a long walk from Ms.Coddle room back to the dorms. I just hated the thought of you walking back alone.
Elphaba: Oh it's okay I'm use to doing stuff alone.
Fiyero: That's so sad.
Elphaba: But it's my reality.
Fiyero: Not when I'm around, come on. (He said holding his hand out for her)
Elphaba: Umm we probably shouldn't hold hands.
Fiyero: Oh your right I'm so dumb.
Elphaba: (laughing) No your not...
Fiyero: Well let's get going.
Elphaba: Yes let's...
They walked back in an awkwardness of silence. Shyly glancing at one another. Smiling at each other as they just enjoyed each other's company. Soon they made it to Elphaba and Glenda door.
Fiyero: Elphaba?
Elphaba: Yes?
Fiyero: I really enjoyed our dance today.
Elphaba: Me too...
Fiyero: Umm I was just wondering if maybe... (Opening the door)
Glenda: Oh my goodness Fiyero I thought I heard your voice. You came back to kiss me goodnight.
Fiyero: No I mean yeah sure I just really needed to talk to Elphaba about something...
Glenda: Oh ...
Elphaba: What is it Fiyero?
Fiyero: Umm (he seems a little lost for words as he tried to think fast) Umm you know that big test we have coming up in class Friday. I'm not really understanding it I was hoping maybe tomorrow you and I could go over it some more in the library.
Glenda: Why don't you just copy off of me like you always do? You know I copy Elphaba's.
Fiyero: I don't wanna do that. I really wanna understand everything. (He said looking back at Elphaba)
Elphaba: Well sure I will help you.
Fiyero: Great it's a date. I mean a study date. I mean a study Umm.
Elphaba: I will see you tomorrow at 2:30.
Fiyero: I will be there. (He smiles at Elphaba then walks off)
Glenda: OKAY YOU AND ME NEED TO TALK!!!! (She said pulling Elphaba in the room)
