Volume 5 Chapter 1: Challenger From The Future
Two weeks and six days later
The Vale Docks, nighttime
"Now, can anyone tell me why it is a bad idea to make a bunch of noise while we are practically breaking into a place that is off-limits to people like us?" Asked Scorpio to his White Fang allies as well as the members of the Emerald Spears that were with them in a hiding spot in the shadows of some containers. As behind him Donovan was busy draining the life out of the guards, all the while Theo Payne and Simone Miller were peaking in the shadows to make sure that no police officers had been alerted to the docks. In the meantime some of the remaining Emerald Spears members had spread out to the nearby containers to mess with the robot parts stored within them.
"In our defence, we didn't think that with the cameras hacked to show no activity that anyone would come and have a look at what all the noise was about." Replied Xander Payne.
"Oh, well I guess that's great, can you just answer me one thing?" Asked Scorpio, as he pinched the bridge of his nose out of annoyance.
"And what would that be?"
"Can you explain to me why you thought it would be a good idea to mimic the sound of a cat?"
"I mean, cats tend to get everywhere, don't they? So why would it be a bad thing to meow like one? Especially if it gets the guards to leave this area."
"Ok, see, I can get that. Anyone would fall for that, what I don't get is why your brother, his little girlfriend and some of your other members then started saying "Meow, I'm a cat." Explain that one Payne! Cause not only did it bring more guards in, I'm fairly certain it triggered the silent alarm as well." Scorpio exclaimed, as at that point both Theo and Simone reentered the area.
"Honestly, that's on us. We won't let it happen again." Said Theo.
"You better, or so help me, I will have O'Conner over here end your miserable existence and drain you until you're nothing but skin and bones. Do. I. Make. Myself. Clear!" Scorpio exclaimed, causing the members of the Emerald Spears to nod their heads nervously. "Good, now, you two any news on that silent alarm that got triggered?"
"So far we haven't heard any sirens, so I think we're good." Said Simone.
"Great, now, O'Conner, what's the status on the bodies?" Asked Scorpio.
"Nothing but the clothes on their backs are left of them sir, though I will say, I won't be needing food any time soon." Said Donovan, as he noticed the Emerald Spears members cringing with disgust. "Aww, what's wrong?"
"Dude, you absorbing those people, that's technically cannibalism." Said Theo.
"Oh, don't be such a wuss Payne. What would you have liked me to have done instead? Let them live, but instead give them a concussion?"
"Y-Yes, anything would have been better than that!" Exclaimed Theo.
"For once I agree with him on something." Said Simone.
"Well, too bad, they're already dead and Scorpio never specified how he wanted me to dispose of the bodies. So if you have an issue with this, bring it up with him." Replied Donovan. "Or better yet, you let me do what I want and I won't give you any trouble for your frankly ridiculous obsession with the destructions of robots because you believe they'll take over the world someday."
It was then that Donovan found himself lifted up by a very angry looking Xander, who exclaimed at him while lifting his eyepatch "Do not mock us you filthy, psychotic mutt. You have no idea what those brutes have cost me."
"Ah, I see, so you think that just because you lost an eye that it puts you in the right? Well let me shatter an illusion for you." Said Donovan as he kicked Xander in the gut, causing him to be dropped to the floor as he placed his foot on Xander's chest, right as he lifted his sleeve to reveal an SDC logo. "You think you have it bad because you lost an eye, let me ask you something do you know how burning metal on skin feels? Or better yet being forced to work in some half working mine as a child that could collapse at any moment with one wrong move?"
"I... I don't."
"That's right, you don't and just like so many other humans you don't understand what we faunus have gone through. So go on Payne, keep calling us mutts, keep callings us animals, keep making the zoo comments anytime you and your little friends go out drinking. Because guess what, when I burn that ivory tower in the sky down, I will make sure you and your pathetic little group will be tied to it as it all collapses down around you!" Donovan finished rambling at Xander.
"Oh yeah, and how are we pathetic?" Asked Theo.
"Simple, you can't even kill a single robot." Donovan spat, as he removed his foot from Xander's body allowing the man to get up.
"He simply got lucky every time we faced him." Said Simone with venom in her words.
"I wouldn't call what he did and has accomplished luck." Said Scorpio "That robot has saved the world on multiple occasions and has gone out of his way to save anyone who got into trouble along the way. And frankly, the fact that you and your little group hate him over the fact that you're still alive with a little bit of damage just goes to show you have foolish you all are."
"Foolish, us? You have got to be joking!" Exclaimed Xander.
"We're not." Said Donovan, giving them a toothy grin "Because that's the difference between your group and our group. Our group are freedom fighters fighting against an oppressive system, you guys are mad at mindless drones that your own kind have been waging wars with."
"Uh..." Xander tried to start, only him to be interrupted by Scorpio, as he grabbed him by the neck.
"Now, let me make one thing very clear to you. If it wasn't for the fact that we've been told to work together, we would have slaughtered you humans weeks ago. Fortunately for you, that won't be happening right now. So for now, let's get what we came for, return to our base and forget about what happened here tonight, capeesh?"
"I... You... Uhm... fine." Replied Xander.
"Good, now, have you and your allies placed the control chips onto the robot parts like you were instructed to do?" Asked Scorpio, as right at that moment a good portion of the Emerald Spears returned to the hiding spot, with one of them whispering what they had done to Theo.
"They did, any robot that ends up being outfitted with these parts will be under our control." Replied Theo.
"Excellent, that's at least one part done. Let's head for the Dust shipments." Said Scorpio, as the group moved to the other side of the docks, with the Emerald Spears having a continued feeling of unease over the previous conversation as they continued moving forwards. But as the group got closer to the containers with the dust Scorpio heard a ticking that kept coming closer as he thought to himself "How odd, no one set an alarm on their scrolls right? Best to keep an eye out"
Xander noticed this and wondered to himself "What got him so concerned." Until he started to hear the ticking as well, causing him to look around himself warily as well.
"So he also noticed it, but he doesn't notice where it's coming from. Why does this feel like we're being lured right into a trap?"
Right at that moment the group reached the first container, where Donovan would immediately begin to mess with the lock of the container. But upon the container being opened the ticking got even louder as both Xander and Scorpio thought to themselves "Someone set a trap for us."
"O'Conner! Don't open that door!" Exclaimed Scorpio, but it was too late, as upon opening the door a tripwire got activated that connected to a rocket launcher stacked on top of some container across from the container they were standing in front of. As the rope pulled the firing mechanism, forcing the group to duck to the ground as the rocket got fired into the container. Upon seeing that happen Scorpio exclaimed "Everybody run!" As the group immediately got up and began to rush away from the container, which a few seconds later exploded in a flurry of elemental blasts erupting from the explosion.
And as the explosion kept going, a chain reaction was set off that caused more containers to explode which went ignored by the group, as they quickly returned to the entrance and found the truck they were going to use to escape with the stolen dust. But right as they were about to get in, Scorpio and the rest of the group heard a familiar voice call out from on top of some the undamaged containers.
"Hey fellas, lovely night for some fire works don't you think!?" The voice called out, as the group turned around to see both Roman and Neo waving at them from on top of the crates. With Neo mocking the group by pulling down her eyelid.
"Torchwick?" Scorpio questioned.
"The one and only."
"So, I see you finally stopped hiding like a coward." Said Xander.
"Oh on the contrary, I've just been doing some shopping. That's all."
"You gonna explain why ya' did this?" Asked Donovan.
"That's easy." Said Adam, as he stepped out of the shadows behind Torchwick and Neo "We want to send a message to that bitch Cinder. We don't really appreciate her betraying us like that."
"Ah, Adam, so you did survive. How disappointing, regardless, if you wanted to speak to her so badly why do it through us?" Asked Scorpio.
"Simple, she would have just shrugged us off like that, but now, by hitting her where it really hurts. We can ensure that she listens, so unless you want more of your plans to fall through Scorpio, I recommend you listen to us and pass our message along to her." Said Torchwick.
"Oh yeah, is that so? Well you know what I think off your request?" Asked Scorpio, as he pulled a rocket launcher out of the truck and shot it at the trio "You can take it and shove it where the sun don't shine! You want to get to Cinder so badly, do it yourself! Oh wait, you can't! Cause you're all dead!" Exclaimed Scorpio, only for him to look on in shock as he saw a stolen bullhead beginning to leave the docks with the trio in it, as glass was left in the place of the explosion.
"Cool story Scorpio, maybe next time don't miss!" Exclaimed Roman, as the stolen bullhead took off and left the group behind.
"So now what?" Asked Xander.
"Now...? Well it seems that Torchwick wants a war, so we'll give him one with Vale as the battlefield!" Exclaimed Scorpio.
"No I meant about the wrecked docks." Replied Xander.
"Oh that? Yeah we... we should get out of here before the police arrives." Said Scorpio, as the group dove into the truck and quickly drove into the night, getting ready to strike back at the challenge they had just received.
The Following Morning
Beacon Courtyard
"So..." Yang started, as she and Raven were awkwardly sitting at one of the tables in the outside dining area eating their breakfast. The two of them having begun to try and reconnect over the last few weeks, however to not much luck as the two of them hadn't really found much common ground in their last few attempts. The two of them deciding to have breakfast together to give it another try. "...read any good books lately?"
"Oh I have, a book on the types of dishes that can be made with ingredients found in the wild... but honestly Yang, what kind of question is that?" Asked Raven, trying in vain to burst out laughing.
"Give me a break Raven, Ren and Nora said that when you guys weren't raiding you were busy reading. I thought I'd form a connection with you by trying to ask about your interests since everything else we've done so far has failed." Replied Yang, beginning to feel exasperated with her mother.
"And you thought that by talking about books that it would get us anywhere? What did Belladonna give you that advice?" Asked Raven.
"No... it was Weiss. But what else is there to talk about?" Said Yang, starting to slightly pout.
"I could mention some of the weapons I've found over the years... but I think your sister would be more interested in that..." Replied Raven, as she sighed and closed her eyes to think. Until a few seconds later an idea hit her, as she quickly finished her tea ignoring the fact that it was still hot and now burning her throat, as she hoarsely said "Come with me, I've got an idea."
Yang merely gave Raven a look of confusion, as Raven grabbed Yang by her arm and dragged her to a nearby combat room, where upon arriving Yang asked "So, what did you bring me here for?" As Raven then placed all of her weapons on the floor and got into a fighting position.
"I remembered something from my time at Beacon, see Summer and I didn't exactly see eye to eye during our first few days at the academy. So to settle our differences we fought, no weapons, no semblances, just our fists and our skills. Surprisingly it worked and we ended up bonding over it, I later did the same with your father and well... let's just say that it worked a bit better than I thought it would." Raven finished explaining, as she thought back to one of her favourite nights in her young life.
"Ok, did not need to know that." Said Yang, as she cringed at the idea of her parents' past exploits, before putting her gauntlets on the ground. "But, it does sound like a good idea. So you know what, I'm down, bring it on."
"Excellent, I'll even give you the first hit." Raven taunted, as she smirked at her daughter.
This Family Communicates Through Combat - Raven Branwen
"Alright, but just remember, I took a lot of lessons from dad." Said Yang, as she rushed towards her mother and tried to punch her in the face, only to find her attack missing as Raven quickly dodged out of the way from the punch and was now standing behind Yang. So Yang quickly turned around and tried to deliver a flurry of punches to Raven, only to find each and every one of them being dodged. Until finally Yang threw one more punch, leading to Raven catching the punch with her hand, as she then twisted Yang's arm to lock her in place and prevent her from moving.
"Honestly, this is about as much as I expected from you when you said you learned from your father. Rushing into combat blindly and trying to hit a moving target without really thinking off a plan to incapacitate your opponent. You really are your father's daughter." Said Raven, though there was no malice behind her words, instead Yang found it to more of a taunt than anything else. So she smirked at her mother and kicked her in the stomach, leading her to let go off her arm as slid backwards. "So you do have some surprises in you? Well then, surprise me kid."
"What can I say, I've been learning from my friends ever since I got to Beacon." Replied Yang, as she delivered a sweeping kick to try and get Raven off her feet, only for Raven to jump over her legs, as Yang used the opening to punch her mother in the stomach. Only for Raven to retort with an elbow to the back, as got knocked to the ground while Yang felt her strength increasing. She then thought about using the force from the hits that she took to activate her semblance and use the extra strength to quickly take her mother down. But then she remembered her mother's words, a sparring match between the two of them with no weapons and no semblances.
So instead she ignored the hit that she took and jumped into the air where she twisted around like a screw, as she then lunged at Raven to deliver several punches at her. Raven though, not being sure what Yang was planning had raised up her arms and proceeded to block each and every punch that Yang delivered. And right as Yang delivered the final punch, she kicked upwards, only for Raven to anticipate the kick as she countered it with a kick of her own. The force of the two kicks connecting led to both of them getting knocked into the nearby walls.
Yang saw this as an opportunity to get the drop on her mother, so she quickly launched herself from the wall towards her mother who was on the other wall. And before Raven could even anticipate what Yang was doing, she was met with a punch to the face, causing her to fall to the ground in a daze. After which Yang grabbed the dazed Raven and German Suplexed her onto the ground, where she fell flat on her back and saw Yang staring at her.
Raven returned the stare as she said "Honestly, not bad, but it's clear that you still have a lot to learn."
"Oh yeah, how's that. From the way I see things right now. You're pretty much incapacitated." Yang replied, only for her to get a kick to the face as a response, as she got launched into the air, where she found that Raven had gotten back up and quickly pressed several pressure points on Yang's body. As she immediately felt herself becoming paralysed and incapable of fighting back for a moment. As Raven then pile drived Yang into the ground, wrapped her arm around her and put her into a chokehold.
"Now, let me tell you what you did wrong. First, you shouldn't have taunted an individual who could still keep going, secondly you let your guard down and thirdly I know every move you're going to make, mainly because you showed me all of your cards when we started this. The fact that you got a few hits in only means that you got lucky. Now, your paralysis should wear off soon enough, and I'm giving you a choice. Either we can keep going until we're both exhausted, or you can tap out and end the match now. Frankly, I wouldn't blame you if you chose the latter."
"And give up like that... heck no! I can still keep going!" Yang exclaimed, as elbowed Raven several times in the stomach until she finally put enough force behind the counter to force Raven to let go off her. As Yang quickly grabbed Raven by the ankle and slammed her into the ground, as she then jumped into the air and jumped down onto Raven, and kicked her in the stomach with both feet. Causing Raven to gasp for air, as she then grabbed Yang by her legs and threw her into a nearby wall. Where Yang for the first time since the fight started could see some genuine anger radiating from her mother, who was now trying to punch her.
So Yang quickly dodged out of the way as Raven's fists immediately collided with the wall, and so Yang quickly countered with a punch of her own, only for Raven to have thought of the same thing. As they both managed to punch each other in the face, which knocked both of them to the ground as they both stayed down out of exhaustion from the fight. A few seconds later Yang heard Raven say "Honestly Yang, let's call it a tie."
"You sure about that? No more tricks up your sleeves to keep the fight going?" Yang asked.
"No I'm good, frankly, I'm impressed with what Tai has been able to teach you over the years." Replied Raven.
"Did you get what you want out of this?"
"I did, I think we both finally found something that we can have common ground in. Well that, and I think I could teach you a lot about relying on your weapons and semblances too much as well as rushing into things blindly. You know, if you're up for it. I might even be able to teach your teammates a thing or two, it worked for Ren and Nora after all."
"That sounds nice... So now what?"
"For now, let's just stay here for a bit and catch our breaths. We'll see everyone later." Replied Raven, as mother and daughter continued to silently stare at the ceiling.
A few hours later
Beacon assembly hall
"So, Ruby. I take it that this assembly has something to do with the little projects you've been helping the doctors with for the last few weeks?" Asked Nora, as everyone in the student body were seated and awaiting the announcement that the headmaster had announced would be happening at this point during the day.
"I will neither confirm nor deny that." Said Ruby with a coy smile on her face.
"Ok, so that pretty much answers that." Cardin quipped from a few rows back, causing Ruby to deflate.
"Oh come on, I didn't even give you guys a proper answer."
"True, but Ruby, you can't lie to save your life." Replied Sun.
"Ugh..." Ruby groaned "...anyone else want to kick me while I'm feeling down?"
"Uhm, not really trying to kick you while you're down, but more interested. What was it like rebuilding all of those robot masters?" Asked Velvet, causing Ruby to brighten up like a child in a candy store as she began to explain.
"It was great, working with the doctors was really fun. Especially since Roll and her team, as well as Rock and Blues dropped by to help out at times. And you know, once we got a robot rebuild we got to reactivate them. Some of them were a bit more volatile than others and had to be restrained, so you won't see robots like Burner Man, Grenade Man, Napalm Man around right now since the doctors are still trying to figure out how to make them less violent. But beyond that, it was great, I even got to hang out with Penny more often than I did." Ruby explained, as everyone slightly sweat-dropped at the enthusiasm coming from her.
"It's true, we had a lot of fun with each other these last few weeks." Penny added "Especially getting to meet some more fellow robots when they weren't trying to take us down. I'm glad Uncle Light let me take part."
"Well, I'm glad you guys had fun." Said Weiss, as she turned to Rock and asked "You must be the most happy out of everyone here?"
"Oh trust me, I'am. With headmaster Ozpin putting the robot masters under his responsibility I have to worry a lot less about outsiders trying to get them dismantled. When Ruby and Doctor Cossack repaired Fire Man and Ice Man I was ecstatic, because for the first time in fifteen years all my siblings were with us under one roof. Dad prepared a great feast that night, that's how happy he was to have all of his kids back." Said Rock.
"It's true. So Ruby, just want to say, you did something great." Added Proto Man.
"Aww, thanks guys. Honestly, if this huntress business doesn't pan out for me, I could always become a mechanic or an inventor." Replied Ruby.
"Speaking off inventors, I still don't get how Wily hasn't been transported to Atlas to be prosecuted for his crimes. Since he is technically in Atlas custody." Said Neptune.
"I know right, it would seem like a pretty open and shut case." Added Jaune.
"Oh believe me, under any different circumstance you would be correct. Unfortunately, the other kingdoms have been trying to involve themselves with this decision and it has led to some arguments." Replied Weiss.
"How bad were they?" Asked Ren, to which Weiss sighed.
"Pretty bad, Winter told me that while the Vale council is willing to side with the majority to make this as seamless as possible. Unfortunately both the Vacuo and Mistral councils have not been making things easy. For some reason Professor Theodore claims that since Wily was captured by Professor Goodwitch after Ra Moon was beaten that Vale should be able to prosecute him. While Lionheart claims that since this has been something that has affected all the kingdoms, the four kingdoms should organise a collective trials to sentence him."
"I take it that this is where the problem lies?" Asked Pyrrha.
"It does, because both Vacuo and Mistral argue that by transporting Wily to Atlas they leave the opportunity open that someone could break him out, which would cause things to repeat themselves. And that is why Wily is still here, in General Ironwood's personal ship, hovering above Beacon. Although, Winter claims that she heard the general say that something fishy was going on with Professor Lionheart, since he had never made these types of suggestions before in the time that he has known him."
"Well, that's a bit strange, don't you think?" Asked Rock.
"To be honest, I said the exact same thing to Winter a couple of days ago before she left. She told me not to worry about it, but in the event that something does end up happening to stay on high alert." Said Weiss.
"Wait, your sister's not here. Where'd she go?" Asked Coco.
"Don't know, all she told me was that she got a call to investigate something a few days ago and has been gone ever since." Replied Weiss.
"Weird, but it's like uncle Qrow's told us before when he was drunkenly ranting about her, she doesn't just vanish into the ether." Said Ruby.
"Seriously, drunken rants?" Asked Weiss, raising an eyebrow at her partner.
"It's... it's gotten better."
"I'll take your word for it."
"Anyways, she said to stay on high alert in case something happened. So pretty much like that explosion at the docks earlier this morning." Said Blake, shifting the topic back on track.
"Pretty much like that, except we've been told to let the police handle it." Said Weiss.
"Maybe we should listen to them this time, we didn't accomplish all that much when we went after the White Fang ourselves. Besides, I'm sure that Agent Stern and Agent Krantz will be able to figure this out." Said Rock.
"I wouldn't say that we accomplished nothing, we got Torchwick arrested, didn't we?" Said Blake.
"That's true, but now he's out there again, and so are the people that tried to kill your former partner." Said Yang.
"Exactly, so maybe we should let the professionals handle it." Said Weiss.
"Very well then, but if this is the White Fang you owe me a three course fish meal." Replied Blake.
"Deal." Said Weiss, as the two quickly shook on their agreement, before the curtains rose to reveal Professor Ozpin, the rest of the Doctors and a whole platoon of repaired Robot Masters. With Duo, Sunstar, King, Quint and Ballade standing to the side of the stage. All of them having various looks of happiness and pride on their faces, with the student body being quickly silenced as their attention was diverted towards the stage as Ozpin began to speak.
"Students of Beacon, as you've all no doubt will have noticed these last few weeks Doctor Light, alongside his colleagues and some of the students have been hard at work repairing some of the robot masters that had been stolen from the robot museum in Atlas many months ago. A lot of hard work went into getting this ready, but we are proud to announce that they have managed to finish their work and the robots that have been recovered over these last few months now stand behind us."
"For they have been repaired to help each and every one of us in our day to day lives. From ensuring the safety of the people that live in Vale, to being willing to be a sparring partner for you students, to some even being willing to help you out on missions that some of your classes might end up sending you on. All of this we can assure you has been done for a better now, and a greater tomorrow. Which is why I'm giving you all the rest of the day to get to know your fellow beings better, interact with them, start a conversation with them and learn more about them."
"I know that some of you may be worried about this, but I can assure you, the only difference between any of you is the fact that your insides are different. The robot masters from what I've heard have the ability to grow beyond their programming, so give them the chance to do so and you might learn something from them in the end. Thank you, and you are dismissed." Professor Ozpin said as he finished his speech, after which the student body and the large group of robots left the assembly hall and a bit later they found themselves in the courtyard, where people had already started up conversations with the robots in order for them to get to know each other better.
Which led to Cardin, his team, as well as team SSSN staring down Frost Man as they immediately bumped into each other when moving into the courtyard. It was then that Frost Man spoke up to break the silence "Hello shrimps, Frost Man happy to see you." Only for the group to keep glaring at him as he said "Frost Man understands you feeling angry with him, but in Frost Man's defence, you fight well. So you earn weapon."
Sun seeing as there wouldn't be much to deter Cardin from glaring at the robot, took Cardin aside and said "Look man, I get it. He nearly killed you, and I'm kinda uneasy around some of these bots as well. But Rock asked us to give the robots a chance, so come on, put whatever you're feeling aside for him."
"Fine, I guess this is how Velvet must have felt whenever she saw me." Cardin sighed, as he turned around to face Frost Man and said "Listen, Frost Man was it, let's put what happened a while ago behind us." As he held out his hand, to which Frost Man immediately shook it.
"Frost Man happy, if puny people want, Frost Man can spar with you."
"Sounds great." Said Sun, as the people present burst out in laughter while they then continued talking.
In the meantime the entirety of Team JNPR had come face to face with Knight Man, Centaur Man, Top Man and Yamato Man and found that they were having much easier time to strike up conversation with the robots. Except for Nora who immediately got into a spinning contest with Top Man. "...And you have no issue with me taking your weapon?" Jaune asked.
"I do not young one. You, just like Mega Man once did, fought with honour. And when I got activated, I asked him who took my weapon. Hearing how you made use of it, makes me happy. I suppose one day we should fight again to see what we can learn from each other." Replied Knight Man.
"I'd like that, do the rest of you feel the same or..." Jaune trailed off, as his eyes landed on Yamato Man who was staring down Ren.
"Do not mind him, he is a bit of a sore loser." Replied Knight Man, as an annoyed look appeared on Yamato Man's face.
"Chinmoku no orokamono, I'm not sore about losing Sōzōshī kishi. I simply cannot believe that I'm no longer allowed to be with my creator, so I vowed that one day I will make Wily pay." Replied Yamato Man.
"Hmm, I understand how you feel in a way." Said Ren.
"Eh."
"Look, I lost my home when I was younger due to forces outside of my control. I swore to take out the cause of it, but over time I learned to not only focus on that. So when I took out the thing that cost me my home, I still had something that I could direct my attention towards." Ren explained.
"I see, what do you suggest wakai hito?"
"Maybe hang out with your fellow robot masters, learn something from them."
"He's right Yamato Man, some of us are planning on doing some exploring together. You could join us." Said Centaur Man.
"I'll consider it." Replied Yamato Man, as right at that moment Nora and Top Man stopped spinning, causing them both to fall over.
"Nora, are you ok?" Asked Pyrrha.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine." Said Nora, as both she and Top Man burst out laughing.
"Honestly doll face, I've never met someone who could spin like you. He's lucky to have someone as energetic as you." Said Top Man.
"I know, that's what makes our bond so great, we balance each other out." Replied Nora, as the group continued talking amongst themselves.
In the meantime Velvet was comforting some of the more dejected looking robot masters, these included Clown Man, Splash Woman, Wave Man and all the robots that Wily had stolen from Beacon a few weeks earlier. "Come on everyone, there's no need to be upset. You've been rebuild haven't you?"
"Ugh, I want my creator." Clown Man whined.
"I don't even want to be here." Said Dive Man.
"Look you two, what happened sucked, but you've been given another chance at live. So come on, take it." Said Velvet.
"They told us that last time around, and we got destroyed again. I have a hard time believing you." Said Splash Woman.
"Ok, you have a point, but that is not helping." Replied Velvet.
"She is right, I believe that one day we will be able to return to our previous jobs." Said Impact Man.
"Even after I wrecked the place?" Asked Bounce Man.
"And after I nearly froze all of Atlas over with an ice storm?" Asked Tundra Man.
"Or after I burned that forest down?" Asked Torch Man.
"And after I nearly destroyed all of Vale with a thunderstorm?" Asked Fuse Man.
"I think we will." Said Block Man "It may take some time to build up trust with the people again, but as long as Mega Man, the headmasters and all the doctors have faith in us, I will continue to hold out hope."
"Thank you Block Man." Said Velvet, before turning to the others and saying "So don't give up, there's plenty for you to do and we'll help you find your place in this world."
In the meantime the Stardroids had met up with Sunstar again, and were having an argument while some people watched on as they didn't want to interrupt what was happening. "I don't care Sunstar, how could you side with those weaklings!" Terra exclaimed.
"Because for one, they have my respect and secondly, I no longer wish to cause destruction. I find it to be a waste of my time, especially since this world holds so much for us." Replied Sunstar as he gestured to the rest of the Stardroids. "And you're not the only one who feels that way."
"Is that true, do none of you wish to fight right now?" Asked Terra, to which the rest of the Stardroids nodded their heads in agreement.
"Comrade, these humans have shown to be worthwhile opponents." Said Stardroid Mercury.
"That and we have so many things we could do, I have heard great things about something called ice cream that I wish to try out." Said Stardroid Neptune.
"Mrow, and there's also a lot of people to meet." Said Pluto.
"Fine then, but tell me, why did they give my weapon to that kid over there?" Asked Terra, as he pointed at Oran who was looking at the argument with Freya, Ironwood, Rock and Ruby.
"Because he earned it for beating you." Said Rock.
"Yeah, I sure did." Oran boasted proudly.
"And since he delivered the final blow, I feel that he has earned the ability to use your weapon." Said Sunstar.
"Fine." Terra grumbled, as he then felt General Ironwood place a hand on his shoulder.
"If you want to partake in combat, I have some highly skilled members of my army who take part in separate missions from the army. If you would be willing, you could join them." Said Ironwood, referring to the Ace Ops.
"I'll think about it..." Terra started to say, only for everyone's attention to be grabbed as an explosion erupted from Ironwood's personal airship that was floating above Beacon.
"What the..." Ironwood started, as right at that moment the soldiers that were stationed on the airship to watch over Wily got thrown off the ship. Prompting Rock, Ironwood and some of the other robots to quickly catch them before they could hit the ground. Ironwood looked at the soldier that he had caught and said "What's going on?"
"M-M-M-M-Monster..." The soldier uttered before fainting, as right at that moment Yang, Weiss, Blake and Penny ran over.
"General, do you want us to check out what's going on?" Asked Rock.
"Yes, please do." Replied Ironwood, slowly beginning to feel the shock of what happened to his men overwhelm him.
"Good, we'll take care of this." Said Rock, as his team and Penny grabbed onto him, after which they teleported towards the ship. Upon getting there Rock said "Alright, stay alert, we have no idea what we're dealing with."
"Rock... I hear a voice I haven't heard before coming from the cells." Said Blake.
"Then let's go." Said Rock, as the group rushed inside where the control panels were located and then made their way to the doors of the cellblock. Only to find the doors locked and unable to be opened, with them seeing a figure stand in front of the cell that Wily was in. So the group started using their weapons to try and break the door down, only to find their efforts doing nothing as the door was still there. So they continued trying to break down the door, as they also listened to what was going on in the cellblocks.
"...Thanks for the location doctor, these last couple of weeks have been rather annoying for me." Said Vile, as he was choking out Doctor Wily.
"Wh-who... are you? H-h-h-how do you k-k-know who I am?" Asked Wily, struggling to speak.
Vile chuckled darkly as he put Wily down and said "I figured you don't know who I am, but I know who you are. Albert Wily, a man who got into a petty little squabble with his colleague over a shut down research project who escalated it to the point that your legacy is nothing but destruction and rot. As for who I am, all you need to know is that I'm the result of foolishness. What you unleash upon the future, creates me. I could kill you, but I'd rather want you to experience what's about to be wrought upon your primitive little past first hand."
"But why Project Null, what could you possibly gain from activating that?" Wily asked.
"I'm so glad you asked, because in your feeble attempts to get the better of your colleague you end up creating a machine that is instrumental in destroying the future when it unleashed. And all because you wanted to tamper with forces you have no idea of what it could cause in the long run. But I do, and I'm here to speed up the process."
"You can't!" Wily exclaimed, as he tried to get up only to be kicked down by Vile "I sealed that project away for a reason, I couldn't control it, so what hope do you have of controlling it."
"Heh, believe me you don't want to know. But what I can say is that your little virus, the thing you placed within the project has evolved over time. And the project will be very easy to control." Replied Vile.
"They'll stop you!" Exclaimed Wily.
"And who's they doctor?" Asked Vile, as he turned around to see Team RRWBY and Penny continuing to beat the door down. With Vile's focus being specifically put on Rock. "Ah, his predecessor, he's shorter than I thought he would be. But I don't think he'll be able to stop me, I can already tell that he's too weak. Regardless, just a quick message that I'd like to give you from my boss."
"And what's that?" Wily spat.
"You're a fool doctor, both in this time period and in mine. Because here you keep getting beaten by the same robot, and in my time even if you end up helping my boss in different bodies, you'll still fail. No matter how much work you put in, you will always fail. History sees you as a joke who threw whatever prospects he had away out of spite, honestly it's a good thing that this forced partnership between you and the witch was lost to history, otherwise I doubt neither my boss nor anyone else would work with you." Vile said, as at that moment the door was beaten down and Vile was met with the weapons from the group being pointed at him.
"Stay where you are... whoever you are." Said Ruby a bit awkwardly, as she had never met the robot in front of her before.
"Also, why do you look so advanced compared to the other robots we've faced before?" Asked Weiss.
"Who are you, what do you want with Wily?" Asked Rock.
"My name is not important to you, for you are already to late in stopping me." Said Vile, as he held out his hand next to a computer screen as some energy shaped that looked like green wires and shaped like a bald head appeared in his hand. Vile quickly slammed his hand on the screen, as the piece of energy went into the computer and caused the alarms within the ship to go off.
"What did you do!?" Exclaimed Penny, causing Vile to chuckle.
"I'm giving you a choice, either you try and stop me, but perish in the process. Or you and the doctor get out of here, and try to find me later. But by that point, the small part of the virus I inserted will have caused so much havoc." Said Vile, as he then addressed Rock. "But seeing as you're so much weaker than your successor I don't see that happening." As right at that moment a robotic voice called out "Warning, ships are losing altitude" after which Vile added "But seeing as you don't have much time left, I'll take the choice away from you. Until next time Mega Man." after which Vile teleported away.
"No!" Rock exclaimed, as he felt Ruby tug at him.
"Rock, we have to go!" Ruby exclaimed.
"I know!" Replied Rock, as the group began to see the ship slowly crashing towards the ground.
"And you're coming with us!" Yang yelled, as she grabbed Wily by his shirt, as right at that moment Rock teleported the group out of the airship. With them appearing in the Beacon courtyard a few seconds later, where they were immediately mobbed with questions from everyone present, most pressingly from Ironwood.
"Rock, what happened up there? Why are the airships falling out of the sky?"
"I don't know, there was this purple robot who was threatening Doctor Wily one moment and the next he put some kind of energy into one of the computers and... wait what do you mean all the airships?" Asked Rock.
"Why don't you turn around and see." Replied Professor Ozpin, as Rock did so and saw that in the distance the airships of the Atlas Army were beginning to fall out of the sky and were crashing into Vale.
"Oh no..." Rock whispered, as everyone look on in horror at the destruction that was being caused, at the same time Ironwood grabbed Wily by his shirt.
"You have some explaining to do."
Couple hours later
Professor Ozpin's Office
"I keep telling you, I don't know who that was!" Exclaimed Wily, as he received a punch in the face from Tai.
"And like we've told you these last few hours, we don't believe you. Especially since this isn't the first time you've used a virus to cripple your enemies. Because look at Vale, all the recovered Robot Masters, the student body as well as the Atlesian droids that James had stationed here are currently helping out with digging people from the rubble." Said Professor Ozpin.
"That's true, but I only used it to control robots, never to cause destruction on a scale like this. I would never create something that would cause an entire fleet to fall out of the sky. You have to believe me!" Wily exclaimed.
"Oh yeah, well guess what, whatever that thing was. It is now stuck in our servers and breaking down the fire walls, those airships might have only been the beginning!" Ironwood exclaimed.
"Again, I didn't do this!"
"Then explain this to us, who was that robot and why did he come after you specifically?" Asked Qrow.
"I don't know who he was at first, he called himself Vile. From the way that he looked and what he said to me, he seemed to be from the future." Said Wily.
"The way he looked, what do you mean?" Asked Professor Goodwitch.
"I mean, with how advanced and almost lifelike he looked, he seemed to be from the future..." Said Wily, as he noticed the look on Doctor Light's face and added "...before you say anything Light, I know that I've messed with time travel before, but that was a few decades, this must have been centuries in the future. He also said something about a successor to Mega Man, I'm sure you wouldn't know anything about that?"
"I... I had plans made for an improved version... but I never got to work on one." Said Doctor Light, as right at that moment Ironwood slammed his fist on the table.
"You're stalling! Tell us what he came for!"
"Right, that. It's hard to explain." Said Wily.
"Try us." Raven hissed.
"He asked me for the coordinates to a hidden base where I put a project I had dubbed Project Null." Said Wily.
"And what is this "Project Null" you mentioned?" Asked Ironwood.
"It was a robot I created after I had made Bass, one that was meant to surpass Mega Man instead of rival him. To finally prove myself superior to you Light, but..."
"But what?" Asked Professor Ozpin.
"I made him too aggressive and powerful, I couldn't control him and he kept trying to kill me every time I activated him. Unfortunately, I was unable to destroy him, so I deactivated him and sealed him away in a remote location only I and a handful of others knew about." Wily explained.
"How did you manage to seal him away?" Asked Doctor Light.
"Oh that, it was a bit before the whole debacle with King. I used him and the robot masters that worked under him to subdue Project Null so I could seal him away. It was also because of this, that King began to rebel against me, which led to Mega Man and Bass having to team up." Replied Wily, as Doctor Oobleck then came in with a map and placed it on the table.
"You said you sealed the project away in a remote location, where is this place?" Asked Professor Ozpin.
"Are you planning to activate that thing? You can't, it'll slaughter anyone it comes across."
"It's better than the alternative of having that other robot control the project, so we might as well try and bring it over to our side, now, tell us. Where is that base located." Ozpin demanded, as Wily sighed and pointed at an island close to Menagerie on the map.
"There, you'll find it there." Said Wily.
"Thank you kindly Doctor, we'll tell the others where to go." Said Doctor Oobleck as he quickly rushed out of the tower to inform Rock and the others, which left the group with Wily.
Meanwhile in the courtyard
Rock, who had been waiting for Doctor Oobleck to return to the courtyard and had been with his team and team JNPR, was the first to see the doctor rush over as he asked "And?" Upon which Oobleck showed the map with the coordinates to the group. "Alright, then we head there." Said Rock, to which Doctor Oobleck nodded as he rushed back to the tower as at the same time Duo approached the group and asked.
"Should I go with you guys?"
"That would be helpful..." Rock started, only to be interrupted by sirens going off as a voice over the loudspeakers all over Vale began to speak.
"Waring, droids from the Atlas Army have begun to go haywire. Warning, Grimm have breached the south wall."
"On second thought, I think you're better off staying here to help everyone while the nine of us go and investigate Wily's hidden facility." Said Rock.
"Very well then Mega Man, if you say so." Said Duo, as he then took off and flew towards Vale.
"Now, is everyone ready? Did everyone stock up on dust and ammo?" Asked Rock, to which everyone nodded as Rock then turned to Pyrrha and asked "How are the mechanical prosthetic nerves they made for you?"
"It works perfectly, it took a while to get used to the machinery in my hand, but now I can feel everything again and I can even use my semblance again with that hand." Replied Pyrrha, as she repeatedly stretched out her hand and used her semblance with it to pull Jaune slightly closer to her, as the two of them softly smiled.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that at least." Said Rock, as he casted a worried glance over at Vale.
"You ok Rock?" Asked Nora, as everyone gave him a worried.
"I just hope that we can fix this before things get worse. I mean, what if that thing that robot put in the computr spreads to things outside of the network of the Atlas Army. Dad got lucky that he managed to unplug the lab from the Beacon power supply and switched to solar power." Replied Rock.
"We will, we've done it before." Said Weiss, as Rock nodded after which the group got a message on their scrolls that read "Be careful out there." Seeing as that it was from the adults, the group gave a silent thanks, after which they got close to one another upon which Rock teleported away from Beacon and towards Wily's hidden base.
Meanwhile at the Vale Police Station
"And stay down!" Agent Stern exclaimed, as he had used a harpoon gun to shoot a beowolf, which then connected and took down several Atlesian droids.
"Gee Gilbert, you think you got them?" Agent Krantz wondered.
"Can't be too careful Roslyn, now has the van been prepared?"
"It has, everyone on the force has been outfitted with the guns from the armoury. We should be good to go."
"Excellent, if those robots and Grimm think that they can mess with us then they've got another thing coming." Said Agent Stern, as right at that moment a toaster shot out some bread, only for it to get shot by him.
"Woah, take it easy, it was just toast!" Agent Krantz exclaimed.
"This time it was just toast, now come on, we have a city to save while Rock puts a stop to whatever is causing this."
"How do you know he'll be involved?"
"Call it a hunch, I've got faith in him." Said Agent Stern, as the two left the station to join their colleagues in the truck outside.
Meanwhile at the Mansion
"What's the status?" Asked Samus.
"Well, it would seem that something is trying to get into our systems." Said Tails, as the group were all situated within the room of the mansion that housed all of the technology.
"And whatever it is, seems to so far have breached the first few layers of our fire wall." Said Happy.
"Hmm, how much time do you think we'll have before it happens?" Asked Snake.
"Hard to tell with this." Said Slippy.
"Anything you can tell us?" Asked Sonic, feeling a bit impatient.
"Not right now, so why not keep whatever Grimm tries to get in here at bay while we work on keeping that virus out." Replied Mewtwo.
"I hope this isn't sign that something bad might happen." Shulk wondered.
"Oh please, something bad is always happening. It is inevitable at this point." Replied Sephiroth, only for Tifa to smack him in the back of the head.
"Well, I guess for now we can only hope." Said Amy, as the group watched the smart members of the group hard at work at keeping any potential viruses out.
Meanwhile in a Safe House on the Other Side of Vale
"You know Xander, I misjudged you last night. You actually have some use." Said Scorpio as the two of them were sat in recliners on the roof of the safe house, and both with a bottle of beer in their hands as they watched rampage unfold. "This is some grade A destruction."
"Yeah, about that, none of this is my doing. The stuff we messed with wasn't even supposed to be used for another week." Replied Xander.
"Really now, well, I guess we just got lucky." Replied Scorpio, as he took a sip from his beer "Tell you what, when my boss gets here I'll tell him that all of this destruction was your doing. How's that sound?"
"But what if everything gets solved by the time he gets here?"
"Oh, well, in that case you should probably get your affairs in order. My boss does not like failure." Said Scorpio, as he burst out laughing while Xander sweat dropped at the comment.
"What about Torchwick and his group though?"
"If he wants to fight through all of this chaos, he knows where to find us, for now let's enjoy the festivity's."
Meanwhile in Cinder's Dorm
"Cinder, are you sure you don't want to go out there?" Asked Emerald.
"No, besides, who cares if a few people die." Replied Cinder, as she was lazily lounging on her bed, while balancing the memory chip of Snake Man, which she had stolen a few weeks ago to prevent the robot master from spilling all their secrets upon being rebuilt, between her fingers.
"Ok, but didn't you want to use those Atlesian Droids for your plan? What if this leads to them becoming unavailable to you?" Asked Mercury, to which Cinder's eyes shot open.
"You're right, we can't have that, we're heading to Vale at once!" Exclaimed Cinder, as she grabbed her scroll and rushed out of the room to go and grab her weapons from her locker. While that happened Mercury let out a smirk, at which Emerald rolled her eyes.
"You're an ass Merc."
"Yeah, well, it her off of hers." Replied Mercury as the two of them quickly chased after Cinder.
Meanwhile in the Streets of Vale
"Ngh!" Penny exclaimed as she clutched her head after taking down some droids and Grimm, and seeing some weird green energy entering her body.
"Everything is fine."
"What was that?" she wondered, hearing the voice in her head.
"Keep going, you're doing so well."
"Who are you?" Asked Penny, as for a brief moment she saw the image of a bald looking robot in the corner of her eye.
"Who I am doesn't matter, what does matter is that you keep going."
"Penny, are you out there?" Penny heard Roll call out.
"Roll..." Penny whispered, as she saw Roll come closer.
"Tell her everything's fine, you just needed a moment."
"...Everything's fine, just needed a moment." Penny repeated in an almost trance like state.
"You sure? Cause I heard you call out in pain." Said Roll.
"Again, everything's fine. We can keep going." Penny said.
"Ok... if you're absolutely certain." Roll muttered, as the two of them took off to find more people to help.
But as she kept going, Penny kept hearing the voice in the back of her mind "Just keep going, and everything will be fine."
"Yes, keep going." Penny repeated.
Meanwhile at Wily's hidden base
"...Alright everyone, we made it and..." Rock said as the group teleported to the entrance of the base, only to be stopped in his tracks when he saw what seemed like the remains of several turrets and other robots that been used to defend the castle torn to pieces. "...What in the world happened here!" He exclaimed, as right at that moment an explosion occurred from the base.
"Yeah, we should probably check that out." Said Nora, as the group nodded and rushed into the base, only for Vile to be thrown out into the horizon the moment the group entered the base. Upon which the group saw Time Man, Slash Man, Tengu Man, Shadow Man, Magic Man and Bass all standing near the entrance and all of them looking a lot worse for wear.
"Uh, hey... anyone want to explain what happened here?" Asked Ruby, as the robots all got into fighting stances. But before a fight could break out, Time Man spoke up.
"Oh Mega Man, thank goodness, you're just in time."
"Time Man, what happened here?" Rock asked.
"It's hard to explain. Look a couple of hours ago that purple robot showed up, and tried making his way over to the top floor where Project Null was located. We've been fighting him ever since, unfortunately both him being here and the state of the project have not been making things easy." Replied Time Man.
"Why is that?" Asked Yang.
"Hmpf, it is better if we show you." Said Tengu Man with a condescending tone in his voice, which immediately annoyed Yang.
"Look buddy, we're just trying to help."
"I know, doesn't mean I have to like it. Now come on" Replied Tengu Man at which Yang rolled her eyes, as the group walked over to the elevator, got in and got brought up to the top floor.
And as the elevator was going up, and the group saw the remains of three devil monsters and several golem robots strewn around the place through the window of the elevator. Which showed to the group that Vile had absolutely torn the place apart. Ruby then turned to Rock and asked "So what's Time Man's deal?"
"Right, so dad had originally made him out of an interest in the properties of time. His abilities allow for the manipulation of time, but dad couldn't do more research on him so he left Time Man with the Chronos Institute where the time skimmer came from. I guess that's where his abilities got improved as well." Replied Rock.
"Did you ever fight him?" Asked Yang.
"I didn't, since Wily never bothered to steal him, guess having an unstable time robot on his side wasn't something he was looking forward to. Of course, Weiss' father caused him to be scrapped due to his fear mongering which is how I guess he ended up here." Said Rock.
"I'm really sorry that happened to you." Said Weiss, addressing Time Man.
"Don't worry about it, what's done is in the past and now is the present, so let's focus on the future." Said Time Man, as Nora spoke up while wondering out loud.
"So, a robot with full on time manipulation?" Nora wondered.
"Pretty much, yeah."
"Which is useful in most cases, but right now, I'm at my limit." Time Man interrupted, as the elevator arrived on the top floor and the group entered a room with a lot of monitoring equipment and a pod housing a singular robot inside of it. The robot had a sleek design, with red and white armour, a horned helmet and several orbs on his body. As well as a yellow ponytail. But what caught everyone's eye was a timer that was counting down from five minutes. "Welcome everyone, to Project Null. Doctor Wily's most powerful creation."
"What are we looking at, and what's with the timer?" Asked Blake.
"That is the problem we mentioned." Said Shadow Man, as Time Man began to use his time manipulation powers to rewind the clock on the pod while the rest of the robots kept explaining.
"See, Wily in his infinite wisdom decided to put a timer on this pod in case he ever got arrested. Unfortunately, he forgot to take it off, so unless he's there to put in a password that timer will go off and release the robot inside upon the world." Said Bass.
"That is also why I tried to go and free Wily from his cell a few weeks ago, to prevent that from happening. We even sacrificed some of our own to get that to happen." Said Magic Man. "By the way, Ruby, thank you for helping to rebuild them. It was rather impressive."
"Oh it was nothing, you know." Ruby replied, as she slightly blushed at the compliment.
"Regardless, since he decided to stay here, we had to keep the timer from running out. Now at first it wasn't that much of an issue, unfortunately, a few hours ago that robot showed up and damaged the timer. Now it goes four times as fast as it used to, so we've been fighting him off while Time Man reset the timer far enough. After which he send the robot away, far enough to give him some time to rest. But he keeps coming back quicker, and we're running low on energy." Said Slash Man.
"So, I'm willing to put my pride aside for this and ask, please help us. Because either he gets here and destroys us, or Time Man runs out of energy and the timer runs out and Project Null kills us." Said Bass.
"We'll do it, he can't fight us all." Said Rock.
"By the way, if you can mess with time, why haven't you just returned him to his own time period?" Asked Jaune.
"Are you crazy? The amount of energy that would require could potentially tear reality apart. I'm not risking it." Said Time Man.
"Well, then I suppose it's a good thing my boss asked me to find you as well and bring your ability to him." Said Vile, as he had manage to return to the base in the time it took for the robots to explain everything.
"See, I told you he kept finding ways to come back quicker!" Exclaimed Slash Man.
"You're absolutely right about that. Now, you all have two choices, either step aside and I'll make your deaths quick and painful or fight and draw out your deaths." Said Vile.
"Don't you mean quick and painless?" Pyrrha asked.
"Oh no, I'm going to make sure that I enjoy this. Especially with you Mega Man." Said Vile, as he pressed a button on his chest that summoned armour that made him nearly double in size and bulk. With the armour having two spiky fists, several cannons mounted on the armour, two rocket launchers, as well as three exhaust pipes on the back of the armour.
"Wait, why me?" Asked Rock.
"Easy, your successor in my time has been a thorn in my side ever since we met, always coming in to fight me and sending me to prison. And I've hated him for years. So believe me when I say, I'm going to enjoy this a lot." Replied Vile as he chuckled darkly.
"Yeah, not happening." Said Nora, as she and Yang stepped in front of Rock.
Rock turned to Time Man and said "Keep winding up the clock, we'll deal with him."
"You got it." Replied Time Man, as he got back to work on the pod while the rest of the group faced Vile.
Challenger From The Future - Vile
Vile immediately initiated an attack by firing several missiles from the cannons on the back of his armour, forcing the group to quickly dodge out of the way as most of the missiles ended up hitting the floor. But a few of them were aimed at Time Man, but thankfully Shadow Man used his blades and Slash Man used his claws to take out the missiles, and at the same time Pyrrha used the mirror buster to deflect three of the missiles back at Vile. The resulting explosion creating a cloud of smoke that made it hard to see where Vile had gone.
So to make sure that there wouldn't be any surprises for the group they immediately focused their attacks on the smoky cloud, as Bass repeatedly fired his buster at the smoky cloud, which was quickly followed by Ruby shooting the Scramble Thunder, Yang throwing Chain Blast explosives, Rock using the metal blade, Nora using the Astro Crush to throw a meteor into the smoke, Blake throwing some Remote Mines into the cloud and Weiss using the Block Dropper on the cloud. As the attacks all landed, creating another explosion that wiped away the smoky cloud, only for them to see that they had hit nothing as they saw that Vile was hovering above the ground.
"Honestly..." Vile said, as he dropped to the floor to face the group "I expected some more gusto from all of you, unfortunately it seems that all your weapons are inferior to mine." As he then shot two balls out of his cannons which exploded in a ball of fire that spread across the entire floor and stunned the group for a bit. Giving Vile the opportunity to rush in as he used the spiky fists on his armour to try and punch Time Man out of the way. Only for Pyrrha, despite being stunned at the moment, to use the Centaur Flash to blind him for a bit, which caused him to get stuck in a wall instead.
Slash Man saw the opportunity and activated his berserker form, as he then launched himself from a nearby wall and quickly rushed towards Vile and used his claws to tear into the futuristic robot. Repeatedly stabbing into him and after a few stabs he managed to tear of the cannons that were on the back of the armour, but right as he did so Vile reactivated and used the spiky fist to punch Slash Man away from him. As both Tengu Man and Shadow Man tried to attack Vile with their bladed weapons, only for them to get stunned in mid-air by the shoulder cannon that Vile was always carrying on his shoulder. After which he punched both robot masters away, causing them to land on Slash Man.
He then directed his attention to the rest of the group, as Magic Man threw some of his cards at the robot in an attempt to steal his rockets, while Bass continued to fire the shots from his buster at the robot. Only for Vile to grab Bass by his leg, after which he slammed Bass into Yang and then into Magic Man which knocked both robots out for a bit and led to Yang's hair catching fire. As she and the people remaining nodded at each other gave each other an understanding nod, and rushed towards Vile.
Vile, seeing this happen, fired several more missiles at the group which were quickly shot down by Ren rapidly shooting them out of the air, as right at that moment Jaune using the Flame Sword, Ruby using the Pile Driver and Blake coating her blades in the Acid Barrier rushed at Vile and collectively slashed at him. The resulting force behind the attack leading to the left arm on Vile's armour getting cut off. Which angered Vile to the point that he activated the exhaust pipes on the back of his armour, causing flames to spew out and leading to him rushing towards the trio.
And as he was doing so Yang, Pyrrha and Weiss tried to stop him by having Yang jump on top of him and delivering several fiery punches to him with the Blazing Torch, all the while Pyrrha kept trying to block his path by using the Chill Spike and having him run over the icy spikes. While at the same time Weiss used the Tundra Storm to stop him in his path. Only for that to do nothing as Vile kept going and crashed into the trio, which knocked them over. After which he grabbed Yang by the leg and slammed her into Pyrrha and Weiss which knocked them out, and right as he did that Nora tried to repeatedly hit him with her hammer using the Top Spin.
Only for Vile to grab Nora by the throat, as he began to choke her out with his one remaining arm. Only for his attention to be caught when Ren threw a Hyper Bomb at him, which upon exploding led to him dropping Nora on the floor as was knocked backwards. And right at that moment Rock fired several Metal Blades at Vile, which led to his body getting cut open to the point that the group could see liquids leaking and wires starting to point out of his body, and with the final Metal Blade he fired Rock managed to chop Vile's body in half. As he then turned back to normal from his armoured form and fell over.
"Phew, am I glad that's over." Said Rock, as he saw everyone getting back up. All of them looking a lot worse for wear, but still able to stand up. Rock then turned to Time Man and asked "How are things on your end Time Man?"
"Good, just a little bit more time and I'll have that pod sealed away for at least ten years." Said Time Man, only for both him and the timer on the pod to get shot by an energy blast from a still very active Vile.
"What!" Rock exclaimed, as he and everyone turned around to see that the shoulder cannon that Vile wore, had fired two shots when they had turned their backs. As they saw that Vile was holding himself up with his remaining arm.
"Did you idiots think you had beaten me that easily!" Vile exclaimed, as a robotic voice was heard over the speaker.
"Waring, timer of safety pod unstable. Releasing Project Null in three minutes."
"Time Man, you have to..." Bass started, only for him to look on in shock as energy began to leak from Time Man and the robot master began to clutch his head "What's going on here!"
"I'm... becoming... unstable..." Time Man began to utter "...Everybody... duck..." He tried to warn everyone, only to be too late as waves of temporal energy began to escape from him, which he up until now he was trying to hold back. At the same time Vile burst out laughing.
"Hahahahaha, let the carnage begin!" He exclaimed, as right at that moment a massive wave of temporal energy was released from Time Man, which at first hit Rock, then the rest of Team RRWBY as well as Vile and Bass, while the rest of the group weren't hit as they quickly jumped to the floor. And right at that moment Time Man grew more unstable until he exploded, which blasted his torso away from his legs and created blinding light, which lasted for a few seconds and right when everyone regained their eyesight a shocking sight appeared to everyone.
"What the..." Nora uttered, as Rock, the rest of Team RRWBY Bass, and Vile were nowhere to be found.
"Rock! Ruby! Where are you!" Jaune exclaimed, as right at that moment Magic Man rushed to the still conscious Time Man.
"Time Man, where are they? Where did you send them?"
"I don't know... with that much unstable energy... they could be anywhere... in time..." Replied Time Man, and right as he said that the robotic voice spoke up again over the loudspeakers.
"Warning, Project Null has been released."
And right at that moment the pod opened, releasing a robot that in the future might be seen as one of history's greatest's warriors, but to the people of this time would be seen as nothing more than a ruthless machine. Zero had been activated, Zero had opened his eyes and Zero had gotten the group in his sights.

Where things have already gone pretty bad, now, where did Rock, his team, Bass and Vile end up, what's going to happen in Vale and will those that stayed behind in Wily's base survive Zero's rampage? You'll just have to see what ends up happening in the upcoming chapters.
