Prompt: "I am way too sober for this."
Truthfully, Pru wasn't exactly sure what she was currently witnessing. After Sophie had recognized Marcus Starke at her "funeral," the rest of the team went to case the auction house's gallery. Only to actually come up against Starke's team, causing Nate to now be pacing in front of the monitors. She sighed before leaning back on the sofa. "I think that I'm way too sober for this."
Eliot scoffed before Nate sprang into the new briefing. "Okay, so we know Starke. This guy goes by the name Apollo. I've chased him a couple of times. Infiltration, physical security."
"People in that line of high-risk work tend to be very unstable. We could use that. Write that down."
Pru rolled her eyes at Parker as the rest of the team shared looks. "Anyway, next is their hitter. She'd ex-Mossad, sealed records. Mikel Dayan used to work both sides as a mercenary."
Eliot raised an eyebrow. "Mikel Dayan? I know that name."
Pru rolled her eyes again before putting her foot down on the banter between the hacker and hitter that followed. "Enough. Now, this is Colin Mason, otherwise known by his hacker handle, Chaos."
Alec visibly pouted. "Whatever. He hacked the Pentagon, the NSA. The CIA computer guys call him the Kobayashi Maru."
"That's a Star Trek reference, by the way." Alec glared at Pru, who wasn't paying attention to him. She had her eyes narrowed at Nate, who was pacing again before he turned back to the team.
"There's no way that this crew is going to get to that painting before we do. No way." Pru put her head in he hands as Sophie chimed in with something, only looking up when Nate continued speaking. "Yeah, yeah, that, sure. But, I mean, who does this guy think he is? But now we know their M.O. we know their strengths, their weaknesses."
Alec and Pru shared a look before the hacker spoke up. "No, I have noticed a distinct lack of weaknesses."
Nate continued as though he hadn't heard Alec. "We know their target, and, even better, we know their timeline. That painting's going up for auction tomorrow, and it gets sold, it walks out the door. That means they had to hit it tonight. So, we go in hot. In and out before they even – "
"Tripled security since today – "
"We barely had time to checkout the cameras. The motion sensors – "
Nate talked over Eliot and Parker's objections. "Whatever happens, one way or another, we are walking out of that auction house tonight with that painting, no matter what. You got it?" They all nodded (though Pru rolled her eyes once again). "Now, let's go steal ourselves a masterpiece."
Pru sighed as Nate walked out the door. She looked over at Eliot. "I was right. I AM way too sober for this."
