Spider-Man: A Dark Plot

Chapter 17
Making his way into the docks, Spider-Man looked around carefully, trying to find a good place to lie in wait. He noticed something and shook his head.
'Lucky I approached from this side...looks like one of Kingpin's goons is here, keeping watch.' Spidey reflected. 'Better take care of him before I lie in wait for Rhino and Scorpion.'
With that he turned invisible and pulled himself up onto the rooftop with his webs and crept up behind the man, sure enough his radio chatter confirmed that Scorpion and Rhino were almost there. He shut off the radio and Spider-Man took his chance. He channelled his Venom Power into just his right index finger, having to end his invisibility to do so, and used it to tap the man on the shoulder. The man started and turned to see him. He cried out, only to then be blasted by the Venom Power and was zapped and collapsed in an unconscious heap. Spidey quickly got the guy secured so the police could claim him later and then settled in to wait as he saw the two arrive.
'Two for one deal with the remaining Assassins. Deal with these guys and it's just Kraven, Vulture and this Taskmaster guy to go…' Spidey noted to himself.
With that hopeful thought in mind he got ready as he saw them taking up positions themselves, clearly not even considering the possibility that he could already be there.
Ready to make his move, and knowing it was his best bet against Rhino, Spidey channelled his Venom Powers again and used a web line to zip right towards Rhino who let out a startled yell. He turned in time for Spidey to deliver a Venom Powered Punch right into Rhino's face and sent the massive supervillain flying back.
"What!?" Scorpion yelled. "You, how did...curse you, take this!"
With that he launched his own attack, a poisonous blast from his tail. But Spider-Man dodged it easily and flipped over to behind Scorpion. He spun around only to meet Spidey's fist. Launching a few more blows, Spidey quickly dodged out of the way of Scorpion's attempted counter attack, then another blast of poison. Only to end up in Rhino's path as the massive man charged.
"You're dead!" He roared.
Spidey grimaced but, getting an idea, to at least distract Rhino, he launched a quick web that covered Rhino's face before leaping out of the way. Rhino was unable to stop and ran full speed into the nearby wall, getting his horn stuck.
"You idiot." Scorpion snarled. "Looks like I'm taking this bounty."
With that he leapt over and attempted to use a built in claw in one of his gauntlets to slash at Spidey's neck. But Spidey ducked out of the way and swept his legs out from under him to knock him down. He was holding his own for now, but things couldn't stay this way, he knew that much.
Watching from his hiding place, snapping another picture, Sam grinned.
'Wow, this is just, go Spider-Man, you got this.' He thought happily.
He took more shots as Spider-Man continued to fight against both supervillains. Despite the seemingly desperate circumstances, he was holding his own and actually seemed to be gaining the upper hand. He just hoped that he could get the perfect money shot soon.
He knew this was risky, but he had to do it. 'I can do this, this will work. Oh, nice shot Spidey.'
He had just taken a brilliant shot of Spider-Man hitting a Venom Power Kick right at Rhino while flipping through the air and, at the same time, webbing Scorpions foot to the ground. He continued to take photos as the fight continued.
"Can't you do anything right you idiot!" Scorpion yelled at Rhino.
Rhino snarled. "Nobody asked you, little bug, get out of the way!"
"Wait, what are you-?" Scorpion began.
Only to cry out as he was knocked aside by the charging Rhino as Rhino charged at Spider-Man who dodged out of the way. Rhino instead demolished a container which, unfortunately for him, had been hiding Sam. Sam leapt back, startled and very aware of his vulnerability now.
"Sam!" Spider-Man cried out in horror, seeing him. Seeing the boy, Rhino turned and snarled, readying himself to attack.
"W-Wait!" Sam cried.
Rhino attacked but missed as Spidey swung in and pulled Sam out of the way just in time, at the same time Scorpion launched a poison blast at Spider-Man which missed and hit Rhino instead. Spidey swung up to a higher level and set Sam down.
"Dude, are you crazy?" He asked rhetorically, shaking his head and almost laughing.
"S-sorry." Sam said, blushing at the closer contact. "I just, I wanted to get some good shots, you know the Bugle still pays big for your pictures…"
Spidey nodded. "Yeah, and gives a fairer assessment for me ever since Jamieson left, right?"
Sam nodded too. "Yeah, sorry, I didn't meant to-"
"I just didn't think you'd jump into danger so quickly again, after what happened with Chameleon." Spider-Man remarked. "Well, I better finish these guys off, stay here and I'll get you out later."
Sam gave a knowing smirk. "Sure, I got a better angle for shots here anyway."
Laughing, Spider-Man leapt down and returned to the battle, where Rhino and Scorpion were irate with each other for attacking each other.
Spider-Man laughed again as he landed, already seeing a way to shut this down.
"C'mon guys, there's plenty of me to go around, no need to fight over me."
"You will pay for this, Spider!" Scorpion yelled.
Rhino roared. "Out of the way, he is mine!"
"No!" Scorpion snarled. "You can't do anything right, now get out of the way!"
With that, without Spider-Man even having to lure them into doing it, Scorpion attacked Rhino with his tail and leapt for Spidey who dodged and put himself between them, while Scorpion was now next to an open container.
"You'll both pay!" Rhino roared and charged.
Glancing up and seeing a chance, Spidey leapt over Rhino and briefly posed to allow Sam to take the shot and then spun as he landed. Seeing his plan worked and Rhino charged into Scorpion and they both ended up in the container which Spidey quickly used his webs on to shut it and secure it shut so they couldn't escape, even as the sounds of fighting began to come from inside.
'Perfect, that was a relief, it's done...five assassins down, three to go. Now, quick call to the police and now I can get Sam to safety.' Spidey noted to himself.
Nodding he did just that before swinging up to where Sam was waiting, grinning at the amazing fight he'd witnessed along with getting the perfect shots from. It was a win for both of them.

Crouched on the rooftop, Spider-Man glanced over at Captain Anderson who stood by the railing, sighing and shaking his head.
"There's been a lot more activity from certain individuals in the past few weeks alone than the entire year before." He remarked. "Am I right in assuming you have something to do with it?"
Spider-Man sighed. "Yeah, sorry...they're after me, some sort of bounty on my head...put there by Kingpin."
Captain Anderson growled a little but then grunted. "Any proof?"
"I had proof, but...but it was taken, I'll deliver it when I get it back." Spider-Man confirmed.
"Alright, I hope it's soon, I can't wait to finally take that man down, I'm fed up looking at his file on my desk." Captain Anderson muttered in reply.
Spider-Man nodded. "I understand, Captain...I'm eager to take him down sooner rather than later too."
There was a momentary silence, before suddenly Captain Anderson's phone rang, he answered it upon seeing the caller ID.
"Natalie, what's going on?" He asked his daughter.
Natalie actually sounded frantic. "Dad, I'm in Central Park, I...there's some weirdo here, I swear he's following me...I'm still around groups of people, but I'm worried that, if I...If I end up alone-"
"Oh jeez, hold on Natalie." He said before turning. "Spider-Man, can you-?"
He stopped and groaned, Spidey had vanished, luckily he knew the superhero well enough by now to know he was in fact already on the way to Central Park. He quickly returned to the call to reassure Natalie that help was on the way.
