Chapter 3

It was getting closer to the meeting time, Jennifer stood nervously on the rooftop closest to the Kingpin's docks. She was clad in her Black Cat outfit, as well as having her hair it's silver colour, the only thing she didn't wear at the moment was her mask which she held in her hand. She then heard the familiar sound and turned to see Spider-Man approaching, the brightly lit streets didn't exactly help hide the black and red costume, but inside some buildings, it would be dark enough for stealth with a suit like that. Landing on the rooftop next to her he removed his mask.

"Jennifer?" He queried, surprised.

She gave a tight smile. "Good to see you made it on time, Jamie."

She gestured towards the main warehouse in the docks.

"That's the place, I was to take the drive there, meet up with one of Kingpin's men to get the payment...only now I'm not so sure. You better have a plan because otherwise I'm not going in there and having them just kill me."

Jamie nodded, biting his lip and then surprised her. "Here, maybe this will help, at least give you a chance to plead your case."

He was holding out the drive to her. She took it at once, eyes wide.

"You...you changed your mind huh?"

"I don't want your death on my conscience." He remarked with a shrug. "But it's also part of the plan. I just want to make sure I can get some idea of what exactly is going on...So I'll be sneaking inside and watching from the shadows, got it."

Jennifer sighed and shook her head. "Alright then, fine...just try to stay out of it, unless there is no other choice."

He nodded and pulled his mask back on while she placed hers on and with everything ready, Black Cat and Spider-Man moved in on the warehouse with her heading for the front door while Spider-Man sought out the vent that led inside that he'd already scoped out earlier.

Entering the vent, Spider-Man crept through until he was inside the warehouse and up on the upper catwalk, he crept to the ledge and peered over as he saw his timing was thankfully spot on. Black Cat was there, walking carefully towards the man standing in the middle of the warehouse, which was lit by the moonlight and other such lights outside.

'That suit, that mask.' Spidey realized. 'That's Kingpin's enforcer, The Rose.'

The Rose had drawn a gun and was accompanied by two more men, also armed, there were at least three or four others in the darker parts, also armed and all aiming at Black Cat.

"Now hold on a minute, boys." She said, doing her best to cover her fear.

The Rose snorted. "Hold on? You screwed up your mission and that's cost the Kingpin greatly. We didn't think you'd be stupid enough to show up but here we are and we have our orders. Time to die, cat."

Black Cat sighed. "What a shame, and here I was gonna deliver the drive too."

With that she smirked lightly and casually pull it out, casually waving it back and forth to draw more attention to it.

"What, but…" The Rose gasped, lowering his gun. "You better not be messing with us, Cat."

Black Cat shrugged. "What can I say...I have my ways, but...if there is a problem, it didn't come from me."

She narrowed her eyes at that, her intent clear as she knew Spider-Man was watching. She was making it clear to him that she'd made sure he never heard the end of it if he was messing with her and this wasn't the drive.

"Alright, let's see…" The Rose grumbled.

He took the drive himself and looked at it carefully, ready to find out if it was authentic.

But Black Cat interrupted. "Well, my money?"

"You'll get it, when-"

Before anything else could be said, before anything else could happen, Spider-Man gasped as his Spider-Sense flared and then suddenly he was grabbed from behind and thrown off the balcony, down onto the ground in front of everyone.

"The Spider, what…?!" The Rose cried out.

The other goons all ran out, weapons aimed as Black Cat stepped back, startled.

Then the source of what had attacked Spider-Man was revealed as he leapt from the balcony to try and crush Spidey under him.

"Whoa, boy." Spider-Man gasped as he quickly dodged.

Landing on his feet he finally saw the attacking figure. A hulking bald man with red/brown eyes and chalk white skin, clad in rough biker style clothing and fracturing the ground of the warehouse where he had landed.

"Tombstone!?" Spider-Man gasped.

The Rose growled. "Of all the...of course...Everyone out, now!"

"Oh no you don't, not without my money." Black Cat snapped.

The Rose and Kingpin's men quickly fled, with Black Cat going after them, leaving Spider-Man along and facing down Tombstone.

The giant man laughed and smirked at the young hero. "Well hello there, Spider, sorry for the abrupt appearance, but I've gotta kill you right now."

"What?"

Without even waiting for any sort of preamble, he suddenly grabbed a nearby chain, presumably used to be part of an anchor, and swung it at Spider-Man, luckily the teen dodged the blow, thanks to his early warning from the Spider-Sense.

"What are you talking about Lonnie?!" Spider-Man demanded, addressing Tombstone by name.

With another attempted blow, Lonnie Lincoln smirked.

"Ain't nothing' personal, Spider." The gangster remarked. "But ten million is nothing to sneeze at."

"Ten million!?" Spidey cried out in shock.

Finally unable to take any more, he dodged another attack before going on the offensive. But unfortunately he wasn't making much impact, but that wasn't surprising. Using his webs to try and slow Tombstone down, Spidey considered how to go about this. Since given his powers and such, Tombstone would not be harmed by plain old punches and kicks.

With a laugh at the futile attacks, Tombstone countered, causing more destruction. "Since I'm feelin' generous, I'll share more. Yeah, ten mil. That's the price Kingpin has put on your head, Spider."

Dodging and trying to counter, only for his punch to harmlessly glance off Tombstone's skin.

"Wait, you were paid ten million to kill me?"

Tombstone just laughed in response.

He shook his head as he paused, allowing Spider-Man to catch his breath and look around, noting that the warehouse was wrecked, a lot of the damage looked dangerous and would certainly cause problems if Tombstone kept waving that chain around.

"Not exactly, more like he put a ten million dollar bounty on your head, a free for all so to speak." Tombstone explained. "I'm just the first of the eight that were specially chosen to take you on and kill you for the bounty to have found you."

"Eight?"

"Yeah, all right here." He replied.

He pulled out a PDA still object which gave Spidey an idea. But then, suddenly, before he could react, Tombstone attacked. The Spider-Sense saved Spidey again, but when he did so, the problems began. The chain had struck a generator which practically exploded, igniting several spills of oil, setting the warehouse on fire which just made Tombstone laugh, this was something he really enjoyed and he went in to attack again.

But Spidey had enough. "You...need to STOP!"

With that he launched another punch, as blue sparks of bio-electricity covered his fist and was unleashed with a massive blast as the punch made contact.

"Urgh!" Tombstone cried as he staggered back, actually hurt. "What was that!?"

Spidey grimaced. "Something I uncovered about myself recently, first time I got to really use it though...good to know it hurt."

"You-!"

Tombstone tried to attack but knowing that time was short, Spidey began putting his new power to use to beat down on Tombstone until he was finally able to make the giant give up and finally secure him with a mass of webbing. With Tombstone secure and out of the fire, the police and fire officers arriving Spidey turned to leave.

"Oh, before I forget, thanks for the warning Lonnie." He remarked. "I'll make sure to check this out."

With that he held up the PDA before pocketing it and swinging away as Tombstone broke out laughing at how he had not only been defeated, but also outsmarted by Spider-Man.
