Emily rubbed at her head, feeling a headache coming on. And not a stupid tension headache like she normally got when dealing with idiotic LEOs. No, this was a big headache brought on by stupid levels of stupidity. And yes, that made perfect sense.

"Pretty sure that we can say we met God today," Morgan joked as they walked back to the car.

"Oh, ha, ha, very funny."

"Hey, he said that he's the reincarnation of Zeus," Morgan said with a shrug. "Pretty sure that counts."

"Did the Greek Gods even believe in reincarnarion?" Emily asked with an eye roll.

She was pretty sure that that was restricted to religions in the East, but she couldn't be one hundred per cent sure. The Catholic Church had tended to get a little twitchy if you asked questions outside of the learning material. If you asked questions at all, actually.

"I would have thought that that was something you would have known. You were the one who lived in Rome."

"Where, funnily enough, it is very Catholic."

She shot him a warning glance so he didn't make a joke out of that. Those memories were still too raw. She was pretty sure that they always would be. So they weren't going to be brought up on a stupid case where a guy thought he was a Greek God. They weren't going to be brought up ever again, if she could help it.

"Also, Zeus is a Greek God. Funnily enough, in Rome, their mythology involves Roman Gods."

"Weren't they basically the same thing?"

"Kind of. I think. But look at you knowing your mythology," she couldn't help but poke fun.

Morgan rolled his eyes at that. "Some of the things Pretty Boy goes on about had to sink in eventually."

"Reid talked about mythology?"

Morgan just gave her a look. Right. Yes, of course he did. That was an incredibly stupid question.

"He'd be able to tell us about the reincarnation thing."

Emily scrunched up her nose at the thought of getting a lecture on both Greek mythology and the concept of reincarnation. Both of which were highly likely.

"Does it really matter if it's right or not if he believes it?"

"It does if he refuses to answer any questions because he isn't an American citizen."

"He's going to do that, isn't he?"

[xxxxxx]
Yes, they had both been right and their suspect did indeed pull the whole "I'm a Greek God therefore not an American citizen" thing which meant that, according to him, that they had no legal way of asking him questions. Convoluted? Yes, but they weren't one hundred per cent sure on how to proceed. Legal consule, absolutely. Ditto on the psychiatric evaluation because none of them knew where they stood here even if he insisted he didn't want a lawyer or a doctor. He wasn't getting a choice in this matter. They didn't want to mess this case up, not when there were so many people missing, possibly dead. They couldn't even get him to confirm that.

"Zeus doesn't need council because he is council."

That was him latest declaration after them telling him that they were waiting for a lawyer.

"What does that even mean?" Derek asked in exasperation. "He's not a lawyer. He's an accountant. Or, was an accountant."

The man had quit his job upon realising he was actually Zeus, apparently. Had even used that as his official reason for quitting. Well, to be exact, he had put down, "I have discovered that this is not the job a person like I should be doing," and that was on his file. But upon talking to his former boss, they found out that when his boss had asked him to clarify his statement, he had then specified that he was Zeus. The boss had been incredibly confused and had just let him go, apparently thinking that he didn't want to get too involved with someone who might be, in his words, "going crazy".

"You know, Zeus was the God of law, order, and justice," Reid interrupted them. "Maybe that's why he feels like he doesn't need a lawyer."

"Was he not just King of the Gods?" Morgan asked. "Surely, law and order get their own God."

"King of the gods and ruler of Mount Olympus: god of the sky, lightning, thunder, law, order and justice.
He's the youngest child of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. Oh, and the brother and husband of Hera and brother of Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia. He had many affairs with goddesses and mortals. His symbols include the thunderbolt, eagle, oak tree, bull, sceptre, and scales." Reid recited off.

"His symbol is a bull?" Emily asked as she processed everything else.

"Yes. He even turns into one in several stories when he is "in pursuit" of women to sensually assault," Reid said with an eye roll.

"That's what you focus on?" Morgan asked incredulously.

"Well, everything else makes sense. Sceptre for being King of the Gods, scales for justice..."

"And the oak tree?"

"King of the trees," Emily and Spencer replied at the same time.

"I get why he knows that," Morgan said, pointing at Reid and then pointed at Emily, "But why do you know that?"

"What? Can't a girl know about trees?"

He did not need to know that she had gone through a whole Celtic Druid phase as a child.

"What I want to know is why this man still hasn't got his lawyer in with him," Hotch said, walking in.

"He said he didn't need one because he is law and order," Emily said with an eye roll.

"So he explicitly said that he doesn't want his lawyer and that he was going to represent himself?"

"Yeah, but the psychiatrist hasn't checked him out yet, so we're waiting on that before we give him a court appointed one," Morgan explained.

They definitely needed someone other than them to persuade him that it was in everyone's best interest if he gave them names and locations.

The two-way glass suddenly rattled, making them all jump.

"I will use my lightening bolt if you do not do as I say!"
