Hey everyone!

I'm back with a new chapter! Kind of wanted to see what a fight between Eddie and Venom would look like, and came up with this. Warning for language, including the f-word being used a few times. Enjoy.

Fighting

Even though Eddie and Venom were best friends, practically brothers, not everything was smooth sailing all the time. They had the occasional argument [usually about Venom wanting to eat someone], but they were quickly resolved and the two were fast friends again. However, once in a while, they would have a fight that went so bad, that they wondered if they would ever be friends again. One such fight happened one cool October day in San Francisco, and the young teenager was laying on his bed, reading a comic book.

"YOU KEEP THINKING ABOUT THIS 'TRICK OR TREAT,'" Venom said, reading the comic along with Eddie. "WHAT IS IT?"

"It's a Halloween thing," Eddie answered, turning the page to his comic book. "Basically, kids dress up in costumes and go door-to-door on Halloween night, and people give them candy."

"CANDY," the symbiote repeated, clearly intrigued by the thought of free chocolate. "WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS?"

"I don't know how it started, but free candy is always a plus," the teen said.

"SO THEY CALL IT TRICK OR TREATING?"

"Yeah, because if someone doesn't give you a treat, us kids pull a prank on them."

"A PRANK?"

"Yeah," the teen said, mainly focused on the comic. "Basically, you play a trick on them or prank them; most people either egg or TP a house."

"THAT IS A STRANGE CUSTOM… DOES EVERYONE ON EARTH PARTICIPATE IN THIS TREATING OR TRICKING?"

"I'm getting too old for it," Eddie said, "but even if I wasn't, I'm getting a little too tall to go out trick or treating." He sighed. "I'm gonna miss it, though."

"THEN WHY NOT GO OUT," Venom asked. "WE WOULD LIKE TO GO TRICK OR TREATING AND GET FREE CANDY!"

The teen smiled. "No offense, V, but Halloween's never that interesting. But don't worry; we can stay here and watch scary movies."

"BUT YOU HAVE NEVER WATCHED SCARY MOVIES TO OUR KNOWLEDGE," the alien said.

"Well it's Halloween; it's not a good night if you're not scared out of your mind. Don't worry, I'll buy you some candy to snack on."

Venom grinned, his sharp teeth gleaming in the light. "YES. THANK YOU."

"No problem." Eddie turned back to his comic book, wanting to see if the hero would triumph in the end. The symbiote, meanwhile, suddenly came up with an idea… Eddie had told him all about tricking and treating, and Venom could tell he missed it. So, with this plan, the alien hoped to bring back one aspect of the spooky night for his friend to enjoy.

On Halloween night, Eddie was true to his word and rented a few scary movies from the video store. He also bought out most of Mrs. Chen's candy section with the remainder of his allowance, which sat on the coffee table in front of him. The young teen's dad was working late that night, and it was too late for kids to show up asking for candy, so Eddie and Venom had the house to themselves.

"Ready to be scared," Eddie asked, picking up the first tape. "Creature from the Blackthorn Pond… a classic monster movie."

"WHATEVER," Venom said nonchalantly, currently snacking on the various pieces of chocolate, apparently too busy to care about whatever movie.

The teen couldn't help but smile at the symbiote, putting the tape in the VCR and ready for a calm night of movie watching. Even though he missed being able to trick or treat, he was no longer saddened by the fact that he was slowly and surely growing up.

About half an hour into the movie, Venom suddenly growled, as if trying to scare off a bird. The symbiote had finished his candy pretty quickly, and had been resting in Eddie's chest throughout the movie, uncharacteristically quiet; usually, the alien was constantly asking questions whenever they watched a movie, most of them not even related to the movie.

"What's wrong," Eddie asked, more focused on the movie than his friend.

WE'RE HUNGRY, Venom said in his head, giving another annoyed growl.

"There's some tater tots in the freezer," the young teen said, pausing the movie and getting up to go heat it up.

WE WANT MORE CHOCOLATE.

"Well we don't have any more chocolate, buddy." He took the package of frozen food from the freezer. "But I'll give you extra tots if that's fine."

WE DON'T WANT TATER TOTS, the alien said, his tone angry and almost scary.

Eddie paused with the microwave door open, wondering what was wrong with his friend. He racked his brain to see if he had said something to offend the symbiote, or if it was sick; he had never known Venom to refuse tater tots.

"V… you okay, buddy," the teen asked, trying to sound upbeat. The symbiote only growled in response, which did little to make Eddie feel better. "... Venom?"

A hand fell on Eddie's shoulder, and he yelped, dropping the box of tater tots. Turning around, he saw that the alien had pooled out onto the floor, and had formed himself into a monstrous creature. Sharp claws, rancid breath, and sharp teeth were Venom's most prominent features, and the sudden appearance made Eddie gasp with fear.

"IF WE CANNOT HAVE CHOCOLATE," the symbiote said, raising its hands to attack him, "THEN WE WILL HAVE YOU!"

The teen couldn't help but scream, ducking out of the way as the claws grabbed nothing but air. Eddie ran away as fast as he could, heading into the living room. However, something tripped him up, sending him sprawling to the ground. He had forgotten that Venom was technically attached to him, and turned to see a trail of black goo stretching form his feet to the monster, who was stalking towards him.

"V-Venom," Eddie stammered, trying to back away from the symbiote. "What are you-"

"SHUT UP," the alien shouted. He quickly strode forward and grabbed the teen by the shirt collar, lifting him into the sky. "WE NEED TO THINK OF WHAT TO EAT FIRST. THE SPLEEN… THE SKIN... THE HEART." Venom licked his teeth, that terrifying grin on his face. "OR MAYBE WE SHOULD EAT THE WHOLE HEAD."

"N-N-N-No," the teen pleaded, shivering and trying not to cry. He had no idea why his friend had suddenly changed, but at that moment, Eddie was trying to cope with the fact that he was about to be killed. "V-Venom, please-"

"WE THINK THE HEAD WOULD BE BEST," the alien decided, lifting the teen up higher as he opened his mouth impossibly wide. Eddie finally screamed, kicking the air and praying to God to make the death painless.

Suddenly, the teen heard a noise, and it took him a few seconds to realize what it was. Venom lowered him to the ground, and Eddie looked up at the alien, stunned at what he saw.

The symbiote was laughing.

"TRICK OR TREAT," Venom said, howling with laughter, shrinking down to a more humanoid size, though he still had the sharp teeth. "YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE! WE SCARED YOU REALLY GOOD!"

Eddie stared at him with shock for a few moments, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Finally, he came to reality, and while he was relieved that his best friend wasn't really going to kill him, the one emotion that took over was rage.

"What the FUCK," the teen shouted, hands in fists and his face red. "That whole thing was a fucking joke, are you SERIOUS?!"

The symbiote stopped laughing, seeing and sensing Eddie's anger. He had never known the human to get so upset, and was confused; he had expected his friend to find the prank funny and very fitting for Halloween.

"WHAT… WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND-" Venom started to say.

"Why would you do that," the teen demanded, angry tears in his eyes. "Acting like you were gonna kill me… after everything I've done for you?! How could you think that was funny?!"

"EDDIE-"

"No! Don't act like I'm just gonna excuse what you did! I get you're ignorant of how this world works, but you can't expect me to just give you a pass for this! But let me guess; you're want me to look at it as another classic Venom misunderstanding?"

The symbiote frowned at that statement. "WE ARE NOT IGNORANT," he said, starting to become angry himself. "YOU TOLD US THAT HUMANS PLAY TRICKS IF THEY DON'T GET CANDY."

"Not on their best friends," Eddie said exasperatedly. "And if you trick someone, you play a harmless pranks on them, not threaten to eat them!"

"YOU SAID HALLOWEEN WAS ABOUT BEING SCARED SHITLESS."

"Oh my- That was fucking sarcasm, you stupid parasite! You've been here for months and you still can't tell the difference?!"

The alien was silent for a few moments, and then his own fists became clenched. Both of them knew how much Venom hated being called that word, but Eddie showed no signs of backing down or apologizing.

"TAKE THAT BACK," the symbiote said, becoming angrier by the second.

"No," Eddie said, wiping angry tears off his face. "That was mean, and messed up, and you owe me an apology!"

"WE DO NOT," Venom argued back. "YOU APOLOGIZE TO US!"

"No!" The teen stormed off, trying to leave the room. Venom was still attached to him, and the symbiote quickly returned to the teen's body. Both were too mad to say anything to one another, and while none of them said it, they were clearly not going to talk to one another until someone apologized. However, given the stubbornness the two were exhibiting, it was not something that would happen anytime soon.

About a week later, Eddie and Venom were still not speaking to one another.

The teen felt like a black cloud was hanging over him, and there was another cloud in his chest, one that only emerged to eat. It was a nice break, not having an annoying alien yapping in his ear, asking stupid questions and craving lobsters [of all things]. Eddie couldn't help but feel normal again, going about his days with little to no indicator that he was hosting an alien symbiote. However, the thought of the symbiote being mad at him made him feel bad, and he became more worried as each day passed in silence.

Venom, on the other hand, could care less about his host at the moment. It had probably been his fault, getting too chummy with a disposable human, but he was quick to remedy it. All he did was sit around all day, not saying anything to the teenager. He was still mad at Eddie for calling him a parasite [even if it was true, it still hurt], and wondered if he could ever forgive him. But, while he wouldn't say it out loud, the symbiote wished that he had someone to talk to, and missed talking with his best friend. Was Eddie mad at him; the human had not even acknowledged the alien's existence in the past week, so it seemed like it.

That Wednesday after school, Eddie was walking home, deep in his thoughts. By now, he thought that Venom would have apologized for his malicious prank, but the symbiote had been silent. It angered the teen, but the alien's silence was also worrying. Venom had never been this quiet for so long, and it made the teen feel lonelier, despite the alien currently resting in his chest. He was still thinking when he accidentally bumped into someone.

"Watch it, kid," the person snapped, walking in the opposite direction. Eddie said nothing in reply, stopping at the crosswalk and waiting for the light to change. He was still brooding when the light changed, and started to cross the street.

EDDIE!

An invisible force knocked the teen back, sending him sprawling to the pavement. At that moment, there was the sound of tires screeching, followed by a short car horn honking. Eddie looked up to see that a car had narrowly missed hitting him.

"You okay," the driver behind the wheel asked, looking at him with some concern.

"Y-Yeah," the teen said, getting to his feet, heart racing with fear at the near accident. "Sorry… I wasn't paying attention."
"Well… so long as you're not hurt, I think we're fine." The driver drove off, leaving the teen standing at the crosswalk. It was obvious what had just happened, and after some debating, he finally broke the silence.

"... Venom?" The symbiote didn't answer, but he felt the alien stirring, almost wary of the teen. "Uh… thanks, I guess, for saving me from being hit by that car." Venom still said nothing, and the teen sighed, finally crossing the street when the crosswalk light was on and it was safe to cross. It wasn't until he got home that he heard -

EDDIE.

The boy stopped in the kitchen, a little surprised after not hearing his friend say a word for the past week. "... Hey," he finally said.

The symbiote pooled out of the teen's chest, the familiar head now staring at Eddie. "HEY," the alien replied, its pupil-less eyes staring at him.

Eddie hesitated, wondering why he was suddenly scared to say what he had to say. "I… It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Venom nodded. "YES… WE HAVE BEEN QUIET… AND THINKING."

"Same." The two friends were quiet for a while, wondering how they should proceed. After not talking for a week, they were unsure of how to get back to being friends. "Wanna… snack? We have tater tots."

"WE WOULD LIKE THAT," the alien agreed. Eddie walked over to the fridge, a feeling of deja vu as he took the food out. "YOU ARE HUNGRY TOO."

"I'm fine," the teen said, though his stomach grumbled at that moment.

The symbiote snickered a little. "WE WILL SHARE OUR TATER TOTS WITH YOU."

"You don't have to." Eddie knew that Venom didn't like sharing his food, the alien always scarfing down whatever he was eating in an instant.

"WE DO NOT MIND." The young teen nodded, putting the frozen tater tots onto a plate, putting that in the microwave. There was another moment of silence as they watched the plate slowly turn. Eddie looked at Venom, who had now moved to his shoulder, and after more silence, the teen was finally sick and tired of the awkwardness.

"I'm sorry," Eddie blurted, and the symbiote looked at him with surprise. "I shouldn't have yelled at and insulted you. You were just trying to get in the spirit of Halloween, and I lost my temper. And I was-"

"EDDIE," Venom interrupted, moving down to the teen's hand. Eddie held up his hand, the symbiote looking up at him from his palm. "WE ARE THE ONES WHO SHOULD APOLOGIZE. WE PLAYED A MEAN PRANK ON YOU, AND WE WERE TOO STUBBORN TO APOLOGIZE IMMEDIATELY." The alien seemed to hang its head in shame. "AND NOW YOU DON'T LIKE US ANYMORE."

"What," the teen asked, confused. "I don't hate you… I thought you hated me."

"WHAT? WE DO NOT HATE YOU. YOU ARE OUR FRIEND… OUR BEST FRIEND."

"And you're my best friend," Eddie agreed.

The beeping of the microwave startled both of them, and they looked to see that the tater tots were ready. Turning back to one another, Eddie and Venom smiled, all arguments of fighting and old were gone. Even without saying anything, they both knew that they had forgiven the other.

"I missed you, Buddy," the young teen said.

"AND WE MISSED YOU," the symbiote agreed, seeping back into the human's hand. CAN WE EAT THE TATER TOTS NOW? AND WE HAVE ABOUT A WEEK'S WORTH OF QUESTIONS WE HAVE TO ASK YOU.

Eddie laughed, opening the door to the microwave, taking out the plate of piping hot tater , he would have been lying if he said he had not missed his friend.
