Hello everybody!
Sorry for the hiatus last month; I got to go home and see my family for the first time since May, and then I had to go back out of state for school, which I just finished my first full week of. With my classes, there may be longer periods of time between updates, instead of the usual once a month [especially since I'm doing my thesis paper this semester]. I apologize in advance for that, and I'll try to update whenever I can.
Anyway, I hope you like this chapter! It may get a little meta at times, but I had fun writing it!
Enjoy!
To Write or Not to Write
"UGH," Eddie groaned, putting his head on his desk.
"WHAT'S WRONG, EDDIE," Venom asked, poking his head out of the teen's shoulder.
"This stupid English assignment," the human replied, his voice muffled as his face was in his notebook. "We're supposed to write a short story for our creative writing unit, and I can't think of anything to write about!"
"WHY DO THEY WANT YOU WRITE A SHORT STORY," the symbiote questioned. "WE THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO BE A JOURNALIST, NOT AN AUTHOR."
"Everyone has to do it, V. Even people who hate writing in general." Eddie sat up, sighing tiredly. "But my brain's as dry as a desert right now."
"NO IT ISN'T," the alien replied. "HARD AS A ROCK, MAYBE-"
"Ha ha, very funny," the teen muttered as his friend chuckled a little.
"THEN WHY DON'T YOU WRITE ABOUT US," Venom asked, moving to his host's other shoulder. "WE'RE PRETTY INTERESTING!"
The boy looked over at his friend, who grinned widely, showing needle-sharp teeth.
"Pretty terrifying, is more like it," Eddie said, yelping as a tentacle whacked his ear. "But seriously, I probably shouldn't write about you; it'd be a little weird, and I don't think the teacher would like it."
"WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE," the alien insisted. "WE'RE FUNNY, WE CAN TAKE OVER MOST LIVING THINGS, WE'RE FROM ANOTHER PLANET-"
"We also have to read these in front of the class," the boy explained. "And I doubt a lotta people would wanna hear about the adventures of an alien symbiote and his teenaged host."
"OF COURSE THEY WOULD," Venom insisted. "WE CAN EVEN MAKE A WHOLE SERIES OUT OF IT! WRITE A BUNCH OF STORIES ABOUT US HANGING OUT AND STUFF!"
"I'm only writing one story," the teen said. "And it has to be fictional, meaning it has to be made up. You're real, so I can't write about you."
The symbiote growled a little, looking disappointed.
"FINE," he conceded. "BUT WE STILL SAY A STORY ABOUT US WOULD BE INTERESTING!"
"I know, dude," Eddie agreed. "Maybe I'll write it someday. But until then, I've got an assignment to write." He picked up his pencil, looked at the paper, and…
"Dang! I still don't have an idea for a story!"
Hope you all enjoyed it! Have a great day and weekend, and stay safe out there!
