Hey everyone!
Hope y'all are doing well. Sorry I haven't posted in a while; this semester's been pretty busy so far, and my thesis is due in about a month! I'm glad I'm updating this story now, so y'all can get something without waiting for a long period of time. Thank you all for your patience since the last chapter!
Anyway, seeing that this IS October, I figured a Halloween-themed chapter was in order! Hope you all enjoy it!
It's Halloween, Eddie!
A loud knocking sound brought Mrs. Williams to her front door, grabbing a large bowl of candy on her way. Opening the door, she found herself face-to-face with Marty McFly, a pair of witches, a ghost, and Mickey Mouse.
"TRICK OR TREAT," the children said, holding out buckets and pillowcases already filled with decent amounts of candy.
"Oh, such lovely costumes," the middle-aged woman said, smiling as she gave each of them a piece of candy. A few of the kids thanked her before running off, going up the sidewalk to the next house on the sloping hill street. A few more kids were wandering around nearby, so she closed her door and stood in the hallway, waiting for the next group. Sure enough, there was a knock at the door a minute later, and she opened the door.
Two kids stood there, though only one of them was in a costume. The one in a costume was smaller, and wore some full-body skin-tight black suit with white splotches on the chest. However, his mask was particularly scary, since he had large, pupil-less white eyes, and a grinning mouth full of needle-sharp teeth. The other kid, the one not in costume, was too old to be a trick-or-treater (he looked to be around fifteen/sixteen years old), and he smiled at her, lightly nudging the smaller kid in the back.
"C'mon, V," he said. "What do you say?"
"UH... TRICK OR TREAT," the child said, holding a jack-o'-lantern bucket out to the woman. Mrs. Williams did her best to stifle a shriek, surprised that such a deep-sounding voice would come out of a child. She straightened up, managing a weak smile.
"Y-Yes," she said, putting a small handful of candy in the boy's bucket. He grinned down at the bucket, and Mrs. Williams quickly looked up at the teenager. "Your brother's costume is... interesting."
"Thanks," the teen replied. "He's technically my friend, but we're practically like brothers."
"AGREED," the kid said again, and the woman couldn't help but shudder at how creepy his voice sounded.
"That... That's some mask," she commented. "It looks so realistic. And I assume there's something in it that makes his voice sound so..." She managed to smile again. "...neat."
"Let's go with that," the teenager answered somewhat cryptically.
"Okay... Wait, wha-"
"THANK YOU FOR THE CHOCOLATE, MA'AM," the child 'V' said, grinning widely at her before turning and walking away, followed by the teen. Feeling slightly uneasy, Mrs. Williams stepped back inside and closed the door, starting to wonder if she should stop handing out candy for the night.

"WHAT A HAUL," Venom said happily, looking in his bucket at all the various candies and treats that he had gotten. "WE CAN'T WAIT TO EAT ALL OF IT!"
"Hey, you better still be giving me a cut of it," Eddie reminded him, walking up the sidewalk next to the symbiote. The alien parasite had formed himself into a humanoid figure (though a smaller one, so he could pass as a child), and the two were currently hitting up the neighborhood for candy. It was Halloween night, and they easily blended in with all the other costumed kids that were going from door to door demanding candy. The symbiote kept connected to his host via a small tendril that connected their ankles; it was so dark out that no one had noticed.
"WE'LL GIVE YOU A FEW PIECES," the alien replied.
"What?! You said I'd get half," the teenager protested. "After all, I've been chaperoning you this whole time!"
"WE DIDN'T NEED YOU TO CHAPARONE US," Venom countered. "BESIDES, ALL THOSE PEOPLE GAVE THE CANDY TO US, NOT TO YOU!"
"I told you, you stupid-"
"WATCH IT!"
The boy rolled his eyes a little. "I told you that only kids can get candy, and that kids are usually accompanied by someone older, like a parent or sibling. You couldn't have gone trick-or-treating by yourself, so ergo, you only got that candy because of me, so I deserve half!"
"OH REALLY," Venom asked, stopping and turning to look up at him. "GETTING PRETTY COCKY JUST BECAUSE WE'RE SHORTER THAN YOU RIGHT NOW?"
"I am not getting cocky," Eddie replied, glaring at his friend. "Though I must say you're a lot less threatening when you're only four feet tall!"
The symbiote bristled angrily, baring his teeth.
"WE'LL SHOW YOU WHAT THREATENING LOOKS LIKE!"
"Wow! It's like being threatened by a Munchkin," the teenager said, snickering a little; he knew that Venom wouldn't cause a scene in public with so many witnesses around, so he knew he could make fun of the alien without getting hurt. "You gotta speak up, dude; I can't hear you from all the way down there!"
"WE KNOW YOU CAN HEAR US!" This caused a few people to turn some heads, but all they saw was mini-Venom stamping his foot, and went back to their own trick-or-treating; whiny and pouting kids were a common sight on this night. "KEEP MOCKING US LIKE THAT, AND WE'LL MAKE YOU PAY!"
"Not out in public you won't," the boy replied, taking the bucket of candy from Venom. "And I think I should hold onto this, being the bigger, more responsible person."
"NO!"
"Chill out, V! I'll let you have the candy back... After I pick out all the Muncher bars!"
"THOSE ARE OUR FAVORITE!"
"Is it," Eddie asked innocently. "Oh, well. Guess I get all of them!"
"NO," Venom snapped, stamping his foot like a child. "GIVE IT BACK TO US NOW!" '
"Only if you ask nicely," the teenager said. "And if you stop killing all those birds that keep trying to nest outside my window!"
"WE'RE A PREDATOR, EDDIE," the alien protested. "WE LIKE ATTACKING THINGS THAT MOVE, AND THOSE BIRDS DESERVED IT FOR WAKING US UP TOO EARLY!"
"How'd you even kill them?"
"NEIGHBOR'S CAT."
"Well, you gotta stop that!"
"YOU'RE LUCKY WE DON'T HUNT YOU," he symbiote muttered, growling a little (a passing mother quickly sped up, ushering her kids after her).
The boy frowned. "V, that's not funny." The alien didn't reply, turning away and crossing his arms. "Venom?" Still no reply, but the teenager felt a tremor run along the tendril, and he felt a pang of anger and sadness coming from his friend. Also guilt. Starting to feel guilty about picking on his friend, Eddie sighed and walked around so he could face Venom, holding out the bucket of candy to him. The symbiote's eyes briefly twitched, but he didn't say a word.
"V," he asked, still not receiving an answer. Thinking of something, he knelt down so he could be more eye-level with his friend's current state. "I'm sorry, V; I shouldn't have made fun of you and taking your candy." The symbiote slowly uncrossed his arms, but still looked upset. "And you can have all the candy, if you want. Including the Muncher bars."
The alien didn't reply for a few seconds, staring at him without moving. Finally, he reached out and took the bucket, looking at its contents. Then, after a beat, he looked up with a grin.
"IT WORKED," Venom said, raising the bucket triumphantly over his head. "WE KNEW THAT IF WE ACTED SAD YOU'D APOLOGIZE AND GIVE US THE CANDY!" He laughed out loud at the teenager's shocked expression. "YOU'RE SO STUPID, AND WE'RE SO MUCH SMARTER THAN YOU!"
Eddie, after getting over his shock, was mad at first, but he quickly got over it as he realized it wasn't worth the aggravation. He chuckled, straightening back up.
"That's some trick you played, V," he said.
"IT'S HALLOWEEN, EDDIE," the symbiote reminded him. "AND IT'S NOT OVER YET; WE WANT MORE CANDY!"
Another fun chapter with Eddie being a big brother to Venom! Not to mention showing how teenaged Eddie would go trick-or-treating without getting strange looks.
