Quick Story Overview:

Hey, just wanted this to be a quick overview of what this story is and what to expect. This was inspired by the fanfiction 'Remembering the Promise' (Persona 5 Fanfiction on AO3 by Conflictedpsyches), I wanted to do my own take on the time travel concept in this story. After the Phantom thieves defeat Maruki, Ren, Akechi, and Sumi are sent back to April 9, the start of the events of P5. However, they each came from different timelines, and the new timeline that they are all in also differs from the game so this will be an AU of sorts.

Kasumi will be the 'Protag' and the leader of the Phantom Thieves, and this will be Kasumi, not Sumire, in this timeline, Kasumi was the one that survived the accident, not Sumire, and it happened a couple years before the game started. Ren will just be a member of the phantom thieves, but she was the leader of the team in her timeline. Ren is a trans woman in this story, she transitioned during her time on the Phantom Thieves, so she will have to retransition again in this new timeline. Akechi is from a timeline where he had just joined the Phantom Thieves, so before his 'Death'. All three of these characters are from a timeline where they didn't learn that Igor is Yaldabaoth, so that will be the main point of conflict later on.

With that introduction out of the way, I hope you enjoy the story!

April 9:

Kasumi woke up on the train to Tokyo, she remembered this exact day perfectly. The day she started her new life. Why was she reliving it, was it another of Maruki's dreams? Or was this a side effect of defeating him? To be sent back to when it all began? There were too many questions running through the young woman's mind. If she really was back in the past, then Kasumi knew what she had to do: 'Ask Makoto out this time', but she also needed to make sure that this didn't happen again, and she wanted to catch the black mask criminal. Kasumi quickly made her way over to the subway towards the Yongen-Jaya line. While she was taken to her 'new' home, she debated sending a message over to Makoto or the other Phantom Thieves, in hopes that they were experiencing this change of events with her. Though if that wasn't the case, it could mess things up too much. Kasumi spent many childhood nights watching time travel movies with Sumire, she was a big fan of them. She remembers helping Sumire wear her 'Back to the future' cosplay that she was going to do with her boyfriend. Kasumi smiled at the old memories until some less than ideal ones popped into her head.

Kasumi arrived at Leblanc, and she was hit with a sense of relief that the place was alright. Sojiro reluctantly welcomed her in just like last time and she quickly unpacked her things, going much more gracefully then last time given she knew exactly where to place everything, as well as cleaning with vigor and determination while she accustomed her self to the attic she grew to love. As she finished up, she heard what sounded like a familiar voice entering the cafe, so she went downstairs to check it out. The familiar voice had sat down and was eagerly anticipating her arrival. They turned their head and Kasumi was face to face with Akechi-San the detective who she had formed a bond with.

"Yoshizawa? How on earth-," Akechi quickly composed themselves." Boss, if you don't mind, can I have my Coffee to-go?"

Sojiro chuckled, "Already making friends kid, well I guess he doesn't look like a bad first friend, you two stay out of trouble."

Akechi smiled at Sojiro, hiding their rage.

Kasumi followed them out of the cafe. Akechi sighed.

"So tell me, is this timeline ideal to you?"

Kasumi nodded. "To me it is, so... I guess that means you join the group you claim is a threat then Akechi-Senpai?"

Akechi was still perplexed, more so than ever.

"Wait, so what day do you come from?"

Kasumi paused to think. "September 12 I believe is when we faced Maruki."

Akechi nodded. "November 18 for me, who was on your merry little band?"

Kasumi was skeptical, but given that Akechi knew a good amount, she decided to play along and humor them.

"Myself as the leader, Mona, Skull, Panther, Fox, Queen, and Oracle."

"Missing pink hair as well then... Hmmmm" Akechi was lost in thought. "You aren't a phantom Thief where I'm from, and all of those members you listed off are correct, except the leader, who I'm guessing doesn't exist or maybe she never arrived in Tokyo? Uggh, this is a waste of time!."

"Akechi-San! Wait, it seems like our lives seem to be merging, so maybe hers is as well, is there anywhere else she would be besides LeBlanc?"

Akechi realized Kasumi made a good point. "Not that I can think of, but if she is in this timeline, keep an eye out for her. We might as well exchange information when we have all the futured available to discuss." Akechi did make a good point, but they just wanted to avoid seeing Ren as much as possible, it could be that Ren knows their secret, which would complicate things.

Akechi smirked: "You know, I like this version of you more, Sumire."

Kasumi blinked. She wasn't the one that survived the accident in Akechi's timeline. She suddenly felt as if all of the energy in her just vanished.

"That's not me Akechi-San, I'm headed to bed, goodnight."

Akechi paused for a moment. They forgot that there was a possibility that Kasumi survived instead of Sumire. They figured that was the case instead of Maruki already getting to her.

"Apologies, I'll take my leave then, keep me posted on Amamiya-San, and no need to walk me to the station."

Kasumi nodded and headed back to Leblanc where she quickly passed out.

"Wake up Inmates!"

Kasumi awoke in the velvet room in her standard prison outfit, as she recalibrated, she realized that Caroline had said inmates, not inmate. She looked out across her cell to see Akechi in a prison outfit as well, and to the other side of the room she saw a woman she didn't recognize with wavy medium hair, who also looks to be at home in her prison outfit. The woman instantly locked eyes with her and gave her a clear look of confusion.

"Yoshizawa – San?"

Kasumi wondered why this woman wasn't having the same reaction as seeing Akechi, but she had bigger things to worry about. 'Are we all going to have our rehabilitation together? Does that mean our threats are going to be even more wild?'

"Hello Tricksters, and welcome to MY velvet room." Igor caught the attention of the whole room in a swift move. "You all seem to have made decent progress towards rehabilitation but not enough, and now you are all united, and while you have to restart your path… I'm sure the company will help you all reach either rehabilitation or ruin together…"

Akechi chimed in, being the only one out of the loop as to the true nature of the velvet room. "What exactly is this place?"

"Silence inmate! Trust our master and keep your mouth shut!" Caroline swung her baton at the bars of the detective prince's cell.

Igor chuckled. "Ah yes, this room is only similar to two of you, no matter, all will be revealed soon. I hope you are all able to avoid ruin."

Justine walked towards the center of the room. "Time has come to an end, return to reality inmates"
