Desert Colossus was the end to the Haunted Wasteland, providing a reward for completing Gerudo's brutal challenges of the desert. A lush oasis filled with palm trees and sparkling cool pools of water. This little piece of land provided respite from the scorching desert sun. Everywhere else, however, was barren and arid. Large rock formations made a Torri Gate. The fairy fountain, still blocked by a boulder.

But its most prominent feature on the exterior was the statue of a Buddha-like female. This giant is referred to as the 'Goddess of the Sand'. Multiple theories suggested that the goddess was actually a demon. However, the region held a deeper connection to the Twili and the people of the sky. No one in this era would know anything about that. Save for one person.

The area was full of activity. Gerudo rebels were running around, doing drills, stocking munitions and planning for their next attack against Desert Town. However, underneath this flurry of activity, morale had dropped to an all-time low. Everyone was running on fumes. All of their actions against Desert Town were either for defense or for raiding. They hadn't made any significant progress in four months. Ever since Ganondorf had secluded himself in the Spirit Temple, his officers were growing impatient to the point of sedition.

Narufefi was one of those officers. A young, bashful, officer, she was, like the others, enraptured by Ganondorf's words of a free Gerudo desert. With their defeat at Hyrule Field, the rebels retreated into the desert, to hopefully regroup. As she looked at the desert horizon, with its sun setting, she recounted the words that Ganondorf spoke to them before their ill-fated battle.

Thousands upon thousands of monsters appeared before Ganondorf. This monster army dwarfed the Gerudo warriors ten to one. Smiling wickedly, he outstretched his arms and laughed manically. The Gerudo Warriors under his command were emboldened by this power. Underneath their steely gazes, however, was a fear and distrust of the monster kin. He had done this before. Summoning monsters, taming the wilder ones, lied, cheated and compromised in the name of the Gerudo's prosperity. That's what everyone thought before.

But looking upon this unholy army now, they weren't sure whether their struggle was justified or just wanton slaughter. "My sisters! Lend me your ears!!" Everyone snapped to attention, as Ganondorf appeared on a cliffside. They were all marshalling against Castle Town, with Hyrule Field in front of them. The Hyrulian Army was seen being deployed. With the coup uncovered by the boy, his plans in ruins, Ganondorf had resorted to force.

He would make them all kneel. Then, he would find the boy.

"For far too long we have been under the heel of those Hylian bastards and their despot rule! How long must we suffer this indignity? I say 'nay'! For those who have been with me this entire time, know that the time will come when your loyalty will be rewarded! You will take a place at my side and know true prosperity!"

He sneered at the deploying Hyrulian Army. "See the cowards, as they rush to defend themselves against us. But there is no defense against true power! This power is unimaginable! Nothing will stop them! Even if my plans are in ruins, all of Hyrule will know the might of this Gerudo army!!" Cheers and applause arose from the Gerudo warriors, with bestial cries from the monsters echoing in the air. "Today is the day we retake our destiny! It will be sung throughout the ages! The day the Gerudo takes its first, rightful steps as the masters of this world!!"

With that, Ganondorf's army got into formation. With him leading the charge, the Gerudo warriors felt, for the first time, hope. That all of this would amount to them gaining whatever they wished, and more. As Ganondorf's host bear down on the Hyrulians, it appeared that they weren't alone. Zora and Goron allies were in their battle formation. Gorons were on the front lines with the Hylian Knights. Zoras were right behind the Hylian archers, ready to throw their spears.

"Crush their pitiable defenses!" Ganondorf roared. "I want this army reduced to ashes!" The monsters charged. Airborne monsters started to swoop down and attacked the defenders. Bigger and terrible monsters charged the frontline, with Gorons being swatted like flies. Then, the Gorons caught their second wind and overthrew the monsters and, crushing them underneath their feet. Zora spears arched over and hit the airborne enemies, sending them crashing down onto the ground. A stalemate. During this first, horrendous, hour of the battle, many lives were claimed and monsters slain.

Just when Ganondorf's army was on the cusp of defeating the defenders, a horn was sounded, and Hyrulian Royal Knights entered the battlefield from both sides. Crashing into Gerudo and monsters alike with their spears, the cavalry rushed through, breaking through the Ganondorf's lines. The monsters held their own, but the Gerudo warriors were being slaughtered to a woman. One of the Gerudo officers came to Ganondorf, who was in the midst of fighting. "My King, we are being overrun! Order your sisters to retreat!!" But Ganondorf snorted, took his sword and cut off the head of the officer. "Keep fighting! Victory is within our grasp!! Destroy them! Crush them! I want them all dead!!"

Victory wasn't in their grasp. With this rout, Ganondorf's army began to fall back. Enraged, Ganondorf started to cut down both Hyrulian and Gerudo alike. Suddenly, Avesa, one of Ganondorf's trusted aides, knocked at the back of the head. Falling off his horse, she and the Gerudos dragged their king unceremoniously from the battlefield. "Sound the withdrawal!" Avesa yelled out. The horn was sounded and the Gerudo started their unorganized retreat. The monsters didn't know better, and they continued to attack the defenders until every single monster was defeated.

Narufefi remembered Ganondorf's fury when he awoke, finding the battle over and the Gerudo suffering grievous losses. He tore up his war tent, sending Gerudos away for him to his unyielding rage. Only Avesa and Uraka were in his tent while in this state.

"WHY DID YOU SOUND THE WITHDRAWAL, YOU FOOL!! VICTORY WAS OURS!"

"No, my king. Victory was not ours. Your sisters were being slaughtered and you know it. Your monsters may have survived the battle, by they would not."

"HOW DARE YOU, AVESA! I WAS THERE!!" However, he never struck her. He knew he needed her and Uraka's loyalty. They were his blades, after all.

"I would concur with Avesa, my liege. Nothing would be gained from our mutual destruction."

"We had the advantage," Ganondorf stewed as he paced furiously. "The monsters –"

"Seem to be nothing against Hyrulian might." Avesa crossed her arms.

"Not only Hyrulian. But Goron and Zora, as well. It seems like the entire world is against us."

"Hmph!" He stopped pacing and looked at both of them. "This was just a minor setback. Once I regained my power, I will raise an army that even the Royal Family will have no choice but to surrender!! The vengeance of the Gerudo will be meted out now and for all time!!"Just then, Ganondorf fell on one knee and tapped aggressive onto his chest. Both Avesa and Uraka were startled by this violent reaction but Ganondorf bade both of them to hold. "Something has happened…Koume…Kotake." Getting up, he outstretched his arm, "something is happening to the desert! I can feel it! Gather our troops and prepare to march back to the desert!"

"The dead, my King?"

Ganondorf sniffed, dismissively. "Those who are not strong shall die. Such has been our way. Leave them and gather every useful thing that can be used. We march at twilight!"

Avesa and Uraka bowed as Ganondorf left the command tent. Avesa started to speak. "You know we can't leave them. Did you want me to –"

"I will have a group of our sisters bury our dead. These sisters cling deeply into the death rites, so it'd be perfect for them. As for the Hyrulians…" she clicked her teeth. "They'll bury them according to their custom. But, if they desecrate their bodies in any way, I will return here with a sword and storm Hyrule Gate by myself!"

Narufefi stepped off of the cliff and went down onto the ground. There, another Greudo warrior was waiting for her. "Have you decided yet?"

She nodded, "gather the squads. We will see if there are any weaknesses that can be utilized at Desert Town. Then, for the sake of our sisters, we will end this war ourselves."
