Chapter 423 Hay Truck

Happy was part Cherokee. He thought that gave him a mystical edge. Right now, he was convinced that little bastard Esai Alvarez was waiting inside the chair factory for SAMCRO. The only thing he didn't know was if Esai was alone or if he had a bunch of Mayans with him looking to wipe out SAMCRO since he failed the first time.
He didn't buy the peace deal with Alvarez. He didn't trust him, but he didn't trust anyone except his brothers and he had some doubts about a couple of them. Tig was acting stranger than normal, but it was hard to tell what was normal with Tig. Guy had sex with animals and dead girls. Worse, he didn't even have the good sense to keep it a secret. If you wanted to be a pervert, you should keep it to yourself. That was Happy's motto.
He and Kozik were hiding near the entrances and exits of the chair factory while Juice went out and got the trail cameras. He knew it was a safer plan to find out who was looking to get them, but he preferred a more balls out, load your guns and let's go approach. He could almost hear his mother lecturing him about thinking through his actions more. She was always telling him he was too reckless. He had spent a lot of time in the ER, but he thought that was just part of being a boy.
Juice returned with a couple of trail cameras and attached them to some utility poles. They would have a perfect view of anyone entering or exiting the chair factory. The only down side to the cameras were they had to be checked. There was no wireless hook up. It made the cameras cheaper though.
Happy decided he wanted to hang around for another hour or so. He couldn't shake the feeling in his bones that Esai was nearby and he really wanted to make him die bloody. Kozik agreed to stay for another couple of hours. He didn't want to leave Happy alone. He knew that Happy sometimes could use someone a little saner to keep him out of trouble.
Happy checked in with Clay to let him know that he and Kozik wanted to stake out the chair factory. Clay cautioned Happy not to take on an entire MC. With any of the other guys, he wouldn't have to say that, but with Happy he needed to say it. Happy was fearless and that wasn't always good.
As the stake out dragged on, Happy grew more energized. His body almost quivered with excitement. Any minute, Esai was coming out of that chair factory and Happy was going to make another kill.
Happy promised Kozik that they would leave in twenty minutes if nothing happened. Ten minutes later, Esai appeared on the bike he'd hidden behind some oleander bushes nearby.
Happy and Kozik ran to their bikes, put their helmets on and chased Esai. The chair factory was out in the middle of farmland with two lane roads. It would make chasing Esai simple because they were miles from freeways and developments.
Happy's heart felt like it was going to pump out of his chest. He was so damned sure that he was going to spill blood. As he and Kozik weaved in and out of the cars determined to catch Esai, they traveled more and more into the country. That suited him fine. He didn't want witnesses to what he and Kozik were going to do to Esai.
As Happy passed a white Chevy, his tires hit gravel. He brought the big Harley under control and sped ahead determined to get his hands on Esai. Kozik trailed behind Happy because he wasn't willing to take crazy risks.
Esai was riding for his life. He reached into his leather jacket, pulled out his .38 and took a couple of shots at Happy. Happy felt the bullets whiz past his head. Esai was a terrible shot. Stupid pussy.
Kozik had a larger view of the scene. He could see a big hay truck begin to pull out from a dairy. Happy and Esai were too fixed on each other to see what was soon going to be right in front of them soon.
"Hay truck," Kozik screamed. "Hay truck."
Happy was focused on ducking bullets and keeping his bike on the road.
"Hay truck," Kozik screamed as loud as he could.
Finally Happy became aware that Kozik was screaming something. He thought it was "what the fuck" which seemed an odd thing for Kozik to scream since Kozik should know what was going on. He glanced back at Kozik.
Happy looked back at the road just in time to see Esai miss hitting the front end of a hay truck by inches. He wasn't going to be as lucky. There was no way he was going to be able to brake in time to avoid hitting the hay truck face first.
