A few months after the encounter with Bruce Wayne and the Joker, as well as putting many of his enemies behind bars, Peter Parker was working on just going back to being New York's friendly neighborhood superhero. Especially after all the chaos that went down in Gotham, some old-fashioned New York crooks were just what he needed. He didn't need to deal with any psychopaths (any more than he would usually). Especially not ones that were dressed like murderous clowns. He was able to just deal with everyday muggers, car thefts, and the occasional bank heist.
Where was Peter now?
Take a guess...
Peter was currently chasing after a speeding car down a road. They had just robbed a research facility and were trying to make their getaway with some weapon of mass destruction. But they didn't expect to be chased by Spider-Man, who happened to be on a coffee break with Pamela at the time. She urged him to rush on to stop them from getting away, and that is what he did. How is it that all the women in his life can easily boss him around? May? Sure, but she raised him. Diana? She is literally half-god or something, so of course he is terrified of her. But Pam? He had known her his whole life, she was his best friend (and his original crush and still has some feelings for). Yet he was so easily willing to drop everything to do what she said.
Even when he already planned to do it.
It's like she can get into his head. Or maybe- OOH! There's a gun!
Peter quickly shot out a web to latch onto the back of the car and dragged himself along the road as he tried to keep up with the car, using his web shooter to retract the webbing and get himself closer to the car. They tried to lose Peter by shooting a truck, causing it to slowly turn and crash on the road. But that wasn't able to stop Peter as he leaped over the car, and used the built-up momentum then to unveil one of his newest creations, Web-Wings!
Don't tell Bruce!
After his encounter with the Dark Knight, Peter studied the schematics for the Bat-suit while he wasn't looking and learned how they were made and how they worked. That allowed him to then incorporate the cape into a mechanism underneath his arms that allowed him to glide. He then shot out two webs, latching onto the hood of the car and yanking, getting him to land on the back where the two goons in the back opened fire. Peter leaped onto the roof, watching as they shot out the back window.
Peter then reached in, yanking one of the goons out of the back and webbing him to a pole. "This is your stop!" Then he went in and grabbed the next robber, throwing him out and webbing him to a pole on the bridge. "See ya!"
That was when Peter moved to the front of the car and watched as the man tried to shoot Peter, only to end with Peter yanking the gun out and throwing it aside. Then the driver seemed to have enough as he dropped and rolled out of the car. That caused Peter and the man with the biological weapon to panic as the car swiveled out of control and dived off of the ledge. Peter shot out a web and latched to the bridge before grabbing ahold of the robber who held onto the briefcase.
Peter dangled precariously, the weight of the man carrying the deadly briefcase pulling him down as it opened, threatening to spill its dangerous contents—a swirling, luminous chemical—into the churning water below. His heart raced as he glanced up, realizing that the web he had spun was straining under their combined weight. It had been crafted to support only his own, not the additional bulk of the criminal struggling beside him. With frantic determination, he shifted his focus between the briefcase and the depths below, knowing that losing it would lead to catastrophic consequences.
Just as despair threatened to overwhelm him, a radiant lasso descended from above, elegantly wrapping around the briefcase and securing Peter's hand still clutching his web shooter. Both hero and criminal paused in surprise, their eyes drawn upward to the figure that had emerged as their unlikely savior. There, standing resolutely against the backdrop of the skyline, was Diana. Clad in her magnificent Amazonian armor that glinted in the fading sunlight, she held her iconic lasso with unwavering strength. At that moment, it became clear that she was the one who had come to their rescue, her presence infusing the chaotic situation with a sense of hope.
"Sorry I am late," Diana said as she effortlessly yanked Peter and the criminal up as carefully as she could. She then helped them get to their feet as they got off the edge. "Watch your step." She then gave her boyfriend a cheeky grin as this was the first they saw each other today, Diana running off earlier than usual. "Hey."
"Hi," Peter greeted her.
Diana looked down as the criminal groaned in pain. "And you..." She then looked over towards Peter again. "...Are welcome."
That was when the police arrived and Yuri walked over with a sigh. "Wonder Woman. Spider-Man. Thank you."
"Our pleasure," Diana said to Yuri and then looked at Peter. "You could have called, I wasn't in the middle of anything. I could have helped."
"I am a bit too egotistical to admit that I needed help, especially around other criminals so I don't come off as weak," Peter said, shocking himself when he said that. That was when he then looked down and noticed his hand was still attached to the lasso. He then struggled to try and remove it, only Diana as the user of the lasso capable of freeing him from it. "I don't deal with weakness well considering my childhood trauma."
"I, too, have childhood trauma," The criminal said, revealing he was also latched to the lasso. "It started when..."
Yuri watched the scene and then looked at Diana. "What is happening?"
"The Lasso of Truth," Diana explained, loving when her boyfriend struggled to escape her grasp. "Never gets old."
"I mean, if I wanted to, I could probably invent something that could end crime," Peter stated as he struggled to remove the lasso.
"My mother seemed safe..."
"I also think that your skirt armor is very hot. I mean, I love looking at it, it compliments you and especially your very nice legs, but it pains to think criminals see something every time you go to kick someone or even bend your knees..." Peter then finally freed himself from the lasso and groaned when he heard himself. "I said all of that out loud."
"Wow..." Yuri said as she eyed the Lasso. "You ever think of stopping by the prescient with that thing?"
"Sorry," Diana said with a smile. "False confessions and a bunch of other stuff like that."
Diana had considered doing something like that but Peter explained how he figured that would put criminals under duress tying them to a glowing lasso and making the case that it was a false confession for the justice system that they were better just being patrol and not judge and jury.
"Well, it has been fun," Diana said, eyeing Peter who didn't even dare look her in the eye as Yuri took the man away.
"Yeah, for you," Peter said as they watched the police leave. "How'd it go with the diamond?"
There was a new exhibit for a diamond display at a museum, the Kandauq dynasty diamond, which was currently on its way to the museum for exhibition and they decided one of them should keep their eyes on it. That was when Diana widden her eyes.
"You forgot?" Peter asks.
"I... didn't forget," Diana said. "It was more that I got a call from your aunt..."
Peter groaned. "Say no more." He stated with a sigh as he looked around. "Were you in the middle of something?"
"Helping out your aunt at F.E.A.S.T." Diana shrugged.
"Okay, she will suspect if you just disappeared, so you go back, and I will go take care of the diamond," Peter stated as he walked off.
"You sure?" Diana asked. "I can come with."
"No, no, I got it. And also I don't wanna look at you for a while due to my massive embarrassment." Peter said as he leaped and swung away in shame.
Diana chuckled as she watched him swing away and looked down at her outfit. She couldn't help but remember what he said and she smirked and walked off.
The diamond was in an armored vehicle that was being driven down a road and was then under attacked by two motorcycles, followed by a tow truck that was being driven backward and was latched onto the back of the vehicle by the two on the motorcycle.
They lifted the truck upward, causing it to stop and the two guards were yanked from the driver seats and held at gunpoint. But one of them tried to shoot when their boss came out of the tow truck and approached carrying a canister of liquid nitrogen with a sprayer connected. "Hey, cool it." He warned them as he approached the back door. "118 seconds to go."
Then he started to spray the back of the truck to break it open. But that was when he was latched on from behind, getting yanked backward and landing on the road. Then the two others who were holding the guards at gunpoint looked around in fear, missing Peter swinging over and kicking him over. Peter then jumped backward to dodge several gunshots coming from the second guy just as he ended up shooting the guard.
Peter ran over towards him, seeing that he was shot, and turned back just to watch the motorcycles drive off with the entire crew. Peter looked down and knew he couldn't chase them and help the victim as he helped grab the guard and began to swing him over towards the hospital.
Peter was now combing through the database of criminals as he recognized one of the criminals who wasn't wearing a mask and was trying to figure out from where. As he was working, Pamela came up with a cup of coffee for him as she placed it down on the table.
"Hey, how's it going?" Pamela wonders. "Saw you had a busy day."
"A bio-chem threat and a bank robbery all in the same day? Just a normal Tuesday." Peter joked when he came across the man. "Wait, this is him. He was the guy in the robbery."
"Leonard Snart?" Pamela asked with a scoff, taking a sip of her coffee. "That is... terrible. Sounds like some Saturday morning cartoon villain."
"And Spider-Man doesn't?" Peter asked.
Pamela shrugged. "Hey, I helped you come up with that. I am proud of that name."
Peter scoffed as he looked at the man. "That's right, Yuri mentioned him to me once back when she was a detective, she worked on his case. He's this smart criminal. Cases a job, and manages to get away before police arrive. He has made stops in Metropolis, Gotham, Central City, National City, just about everywhere."
"And now he is here," Pamela commented. "You think you can catch him?"
"I am up to the challenge of outsmarting him," Peter said, picking up his coffee and clinking their mugs together.
"I can't believe it," one of the Snart crew members said as he marched ahead. Leonard Snart was eyeing a computer screen with the camera footage. "The thousands of crimes going on in the city, and Spider-Man came after us. You know what that means? We are on his radar now. And he has that big armored cheerleader girl with him, you know she isn't going to go down easy."
"There are hundreds of locations in the city," Snart commented, seeing how quickly Spider-Man appeared. "Hundreds of crimes. He always knows about the biggest crimes. There are forty banks in Manhattan alone, each of them within 60 seconds of police response. That's why we chose a moving target. Once they called out, we had 182 seconds before anyone could have been on the scene. But... Spider-Man did. He knew about the transport, and the location, even when he was halfway across the city dealing with a different crime. It would mean he has someone inside feeding him intel. That is the only way he knew how to get there, and then you lost your cool. You know the rules. We don't shoot cops or guards unless it's the only option, we don't need the heat."
"The heat?" The guard asked with a scoff. "Screw this, Snart, I am out."
Snart then shot him a point in the chest, watching his body plummet to the ground. "Well, that's a shame." He then leaned in and saw how fast Spider-Man had them, and he would have beaten them if it weren't for the guard being shot. "I never got that close to being captured before. It was exhilarating..." He then leaned closer as if he tried to look into the eyes of the mask. "We are going to have to even the odds a bit. That second target of ours? The STAR Labs convoy... has it left yet?"
Peter had loaded up a suitcase into a STAR Labs vehicle and gave it a knock, letting them know that the van was secure. He watched the van drive off and sighed. He took a break hunting Snart and went on with his job. He needed to get those devices loaded for transport anyway, which were experimental elemental devices that would help improve the state of the world. There were 3 devices that he and Pam helped design and create.
One of them was a gauntlet that when charged up can fire blasts of ice that reach absolute zero. This was something they created to perhaps slow down global warming. It was much to ask two random scientists to solve it, but creating a constant cooling system that could keep the artics frozen was a step forward. The 2nd was a handheld cold gun that did the same thing. The 3rd was a handheld flamethrower that would be used to help with controlled forest fires to help new plant life grow.
"They off?" Pam asked as she approached.
"Yep, 3 prototype devices that can potentially do a lot of good," Peter said as he watched the truck leave. "Without support. And without my backup. I'm a naive idiot for not going out there, aren't I?"
"Oh, good, you heard me," Pam said sarcastically.
Peter didn't waste much time as he quickly ran off, trying not to look suspicious with how fast he was moving. He just needed to get somewhere he could shift into his attire and get out there to follow after the van.
Peter had just gotten outside in his attire when he heard a massive explosion in the distance, getting him to worry as he figured he knew exactly what the explosion was. He quickly swung his way over and noticed that the STAR Labs van was on its side and he saw the two drivers and guards were unconscious. Peter yanked off the door and quickly crawled inside as he began to help unbuckle the drivers and get them out.
Once he did, he slightly tapped one of them to wake them up. "Hey, what happened here?"
"We were... ambushed." The driver moaned. "A bomb..."
Peter sighed as he heard sirens approaching and ran to the back of the truck. He looked over and noticed that it was already open. Taking a peek, he saw that the devices were gone...
"Oh, god," Peter muttered.
That meteorite goo from a while back finally reached the city and made its way around. Ironically enough it was easy for the slithery creature to get around New York with people thinking it was some disfigured rat, a rat with a bunch of wet hair, or some freak experiment and didn't care enough to deal with it.
"Not even thirty minutes?" Pam asks as she and Peter are pacing their labs. "And somebody stole our tech?"
"It can't be a coincidence that this happens the same day of Snart's robbery, can it?" Peter asks. "Maybe I should have asked to postpone the transport?"
"And give Snart more time to plan to rob it?" Pam questioned. "No, this is something else. You think he might go after the diamond again?"
"Yuri is personally guarding it," Peter shrugged. "If she hears something, she is bound to call."
"Should we warn her about the guns?" Pam asks. "You know, the guns that are capable of freezing and burning someone on impact?"
"Nah, not until we know it was Snart," Peter shrugged.
Suddenly they hear footsteps and they look to see their boss Doctor Harrison Wells. This is Doctor Wells. While he is their boss they are good friends with Harrison Wells especially since Doctor Wells personally asked for Peter and Pam to work for him at Star Labs. While they all had a good friendship others would see this as favoritism
"Hello Peter; Pam. I see you heard what happened," said Wells
"It's good to see you. Dr. Wells. Yeah. I'm very worried because those devices can be dangerous in the wrong hands." Says Peter while sighing
"I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think Spider-Man will track them down?"
"Hopefully he will." Said Peter trying not to give away that he is Spider-Man.
"Well, I have to go. Mr. Brock is expecting me. I have to check his progress on his project. Let's just hope that he took our advice on the safety precautions."
Most of the day went by without an incident, which didn't spark anything out of the ordinary. Peter kept on trying to figure out a way of searching for Snart using his tech to see if he possibly left a capable way of tracking it. While he was doing that, Yuri got a call from a museum with the diamond which made Yuri suspicious of why that might be. She made it to the scene and was met by the director of the museum.
"You said to call if there was anything suspicious," The director said as he led Yuri to a balcony overlooking the diamond. "This guy went through the tour twice. Nobody does that."
Yuri looked down and easily recognized the man in the giant trench coat was Leonard Snart. She looked down just as Snart himself spotted her and ran off. She quickly raced to follow as she pulled out her radio and sent a message to Spider-Man.
"I've got eyes on Leonard Snart!" Yuri called as she raced after him. "He's at the museum. Requesting immediate backup."
Peter was at the job when he looked and saw the alert on his phone. He immediately knew that it had to do with Snart and quickly raced off to catch him.
Snart was making his way down the street calmly, trying not to draw attention while Yuri was doing her best to keep up with him. When Snart crossed the street, she got a clear shot as she aimed her gun.
"Snart!" Yuri called, getting Snart's attention.
Snart then heard sirens coming and quickly drew the cold gun he stole from the STAR Labs vehicle. He then quickly shot at the road with the cold gun, causing the roads to freeze up instantly and the police car to go skidding down the frozen road toward Yuri. Yuri was preparing for impact when Spider-Man came swinging in and quickly scooped her up, saving Yuri and swinging them over to the sidewalk.
Shooting out a web net from his web shooters he caught the police car before it could crash, Peter was relieved to see he saved everyone's life. Now all that was left was Snart. Seeing he was making his way into one of the Broadway theaters, Peter raced in after him, leaping over the parked cars and into the theater.
Snart made his way inside and Peter was quick to chase him inside. "Snart! Put it down!"
Snart however didn't listen and fired the gun again. Peter was about to jump out of the way but then noticed that the gun would have harmed a pedestrian behind him. He decided to take the shot as he cradled the woman to ensure she didn't get hit by the gun. He screams in pain as he drops to his knees, pushing the pedestrian towards the exit. Peter screamed as he raised his back, shattering the ice on his back. He groaned as he saw Snart was preparing to fire it again. Peter then shot out a web to swing out of the way and landed on an adjacent hallway.
"Time to take this out for a test run!" Snart called out, shooting ice toward civilians using the gauntlet this time instead of the gun
Peter's senses alerted him where the beam was heading and shot out webs to yank the people out of the way seconds before the beam could reach them. Peter then leaped downward towards Snart to try and web the gun and gauntlet out of his hands. Shooting a web at Snart, he raised the gun to try and shoot Peter again with it.
Peter however yanked the gun, sending it flying and knocking against the wall, causing it to go off and send out a beam of absolute zero towards a guard. Peter shot out a web to try and save him, time almost slowing down as he watched the beam and webbing reach for the man. But the web only managed to latch onto him while the cold beam knocked him over and froze him solid.
"NO!" Peter cried, racing over towards the man, and saw that there was nothing he could do just like when he and Batman went against the Joker. "No..."
Snart saw how distraught he was and knew that he had the chance to escape, picking the gun back up as he ran out. Peter looked down in sorrow as he saw that he couldn't save someone because of an invention that he was responsible for.
Peter was now standing on a rooftop away from the theater when he saw an ambulance arrive and officers arrived. He couldn't save him. He knew that every time that he put on this suit he risked not being able to save everyone. Diana leaped over and approached Peter from behind. She was busy dealing with various other problems and was sorry to see what happened.
"I couldn't stop him," Peter whispered.
"This isn't the first time a criminal got an upper hand on you," Diana tried to assure him. "You'll get him."
"It won't save the lives that have been taken," Peter said with sorrow.
"Come on," Diana grabbed his hand. "You need to heal and rest."
Peter, feeling the weight of his injuries and the urgency of the situation, decided to heed Diana's advice. They made their way back to his home, where he could find some rest and she could tend to his wounds. Diana stayed by his side, offering comfort and care as he drifted off to sleep, her presence soothing in the aftermath of the chaos.
Once he was peacefully slumbering, she transformed into Wonder Woman, slipping into her heroic persona with the purpose of protecting those in need while Peter healed. Still, unbeknownst to him, the remnant of the mysterious creature from the meteorite had arrived. It slithered towards him, a dark, pulsating mass, and began to latch onto his unconscious form.
As Peter awakened, he was met with an entirely bewildering sight: a shadowy figure enveloping him, twisting and morphing around his body.
Confusion washed over him as he gasped, "What is this?"
In the next moment, he opened his eyes to find himself suspended in the cool night air, hanging upside down from a silken web that sparkled like diamonds in the moonlight. His heart raced as he caught a glimpse of his own reflection against the smooth, glassy surface of a nearby building. He was adorned in a striking new suit—its texture was reminiscent of body armor, black and glistening with an intricate, plated design that hugged his muscles. Prominent white features stood out boldly: gleaming eyes that seemed to watch everything, a spider emblem emblazoned across his chest, and sleek web shooters gesturing at the ready.
As he dropped down from the web, landing softly on the rooftop, Peter couldn't help but marvel at himself. He ran his hands over his body, astonished to realize that all the injuries that had once pained him, wounds that would have demanded days of recovery, had vanished completely. The sensation of renewed strength surged through him, and he was filled with both awe and uncertainty about the transformation he had undergone. Peter started to run on the roof feeling faster then ever and he launches himself off it to reach another with strength and speed he never felt before. As he reaches the side of another building he latches a web to another building swinging even faster and doing tricks in the air. He lands on the side of another building breathing heavily with excitement from what he felt and what he just did.
Peter starts to look at his hands with amazement. "This feels good. No, not just good. I feel great..." Peter snarled as he heard a break-in at the museum on the police radio. "Snart..."
Snart had indeed just robbed the museum, this time making off with the diamond and freezing the guards on his way in and out. When he reached the sight, he saw that there was no sign of Snart. He was already gone. But his scanners seemed to have been enhanced by the suit as well, as it showed a recent cold temperature in the area. Leading to the train station down the street.
Peter leaped in as he swung his way over and landed on top of the train. He saw Snart was inside, ripping the roof open with his new suit. He then leaped inside and saw Snart was wearing a new overcoat due to the cold. He aimed the cold gun at Peter and prepared to fire.
"Nowhere to run, Snart!" Peter stated. "If you wanted to get away you should've taken something faster than a train."
"That's if I wanted to get away," Snart stated. "I've seen your weakness at the armored car, then on the street. See, while you're busy saving everybody, I'll be saving myself. Also its not Snart anymore. Its Captain Cold."
Snart then shot the ground, freezing the tracks underneath the train and causing the entire train to begin to derail. Snart ran over to the door and opened them up. "Good luck with that." And then leaped out and used the gauntlet to make a massive ice ramp to slide away
As Peter felt the violent jolt of the train derailing, his heart raced with a primal urgency. He knew he had mere seconds to save all the passengers on board. Time seemed to stretch and contract as if the world around him had slowed to a crawl. In that crucial moment, the sleek suit he wore came alive, tendrils unfurling from its back like the arms of a giant, ethereal creature.
These slender, sinuous appendages reached out, weaving through the chaotic scene within the train. Most of the tendrils focused on the train cars themselves, expertly twisting and turning to mend the structure, reinforcing it to prevent a catastrophic collapse. A few tendrils, however, extended beyond the point of no return, their movements deliberate and swift as they sought out the trapped passengers.
With unfathomable precision, the tendrils coiled around each person, lifting them gently from their seats while the train continued to shudder and rock. In a graceful arc, Peter directed the tendrils to toss each passenger onto expansive webs that had materialized below, like safety nets of shimmering silk. One by one, he watched as the terrified faces transformed from fear to relief, knowing he had saved them all from certain disasters. The scene unfolded in a brilliant flurry of movement and emotion, as he emerged, not just a man, but a savior in a moment of profound crisis.
Peter then leaped out of the train car and looked around for where Snart could have gone. That was when he was blasted, sending him skidding, but the suit counteracted the cold gun this time and created a barrier between Peter and the cold blast. Snart was surprised at this as he looked at Spider-Man as he prepared to fight with the new black suit.
"How did you do that?" Snart asks.
"You upped your game, I upped mine, Snart," Peter snarled.
Snart shot beams of ice towards Peter as he raced towards the master thief. The cold gun was useless against Snart this time, as the black suit enhanced Peter's already increased speed and strength tenfold, giving him an edge. He used a giant tendril to slam into Snart and slam him into the ground and wall. Snart gets up quickly and creates an ice barrier, causing the charging Peter to crash into it without being down.
At that moment, the cold gun was wrapped up in a lasso, revealing Diana, Wonder Woman, who had arrived to prevent Snart from firing the gun again. Peter then ran in, and as Diana yanked the lasso, separating Snart from the cold gun, Peter webbed him instantly. Snart was stuck against a post on the tracks, waiting for the police while Peter and Diana walked away from the scene with the cold gun.
"This isn't over, you know that? Now I know your game. I just have to be smarter next time." Snart asks.
"It feels pretty over for me, Snart," Peter stated as he marched off.
"I thought I told you to stay home and rest," Diana told him.
"I was, something happened." Peter shrugged, gesturing to the suit. "This happened."
"What is it?" Diana wonders, poking the suit a little.
"I don't know," Peter shrugged. "But it makes me feel...good; powerful."
After hearing that Diana got a weird creepy feeling that there was more to this and Peter than what she knew.
Inside the dimly lit Iceberg Lounge, a notorious haunt in the heart of Gotham, the nefarious Penguin sat behind a polished mahogany desk, his sleek figure clad in an impeccably tailored suit. The faint glow of neon lights flickered through the frosted glass, casting an eerie ambiance around the room. As he held the phone to his ear, the tension in his expression deepened. He nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the information relayed on the other end, each nod punctuating the gravity of the deal unfolding and smirking
Finishing the call, he placed the receiver down with a deliberate, almost theatrical flair. His cold, calculating gaze shifted to the remaining loyal members of his gang, a ragged group still reeling from the chaos that had erupted during the fateful clash between Spider-Man and Batman just months before. Their loyalty was wavering, but the Penguin's presence commanded the room, a reminder of the power he wielded even amidst the ruins of their diminished enterprise. This was Gotham, after all—where the shadows were as thick as the schemes that brewed within them.
"Get ready for a little trip, boys," Cobblepot tells his men. "We're heading for the Big Apple! Its time to see an old friend of mine."
