So I know I need to finish my other started fics but inspiration hits so I have to make use of it fast!

This fic is inspired by another fic my friend wrote on ao3 : /works/56013859/chapters/142259185

...

Kymopoleia was quietly arranging her newest plushies Poseidon had gotten her in her nest before she heard weird sounds coming from the hallway. Before she has time to react her bedroom door is swung open and she sees her mother enter. Her once-loving eyes were now blazing with anger.

Kymopoleia turns around, her Mom advances fast and reaches for her plushies. The little girl watches in shock as Amphitrite starts to take away every stuffed animal she has.

Kymopoleia holds onto the dolphin Amphitrite made her mere days ago. "Mama?" She asks, her voice shaking. But she gets no response. Until Amphitrite reaches for her seahorse, her most cherished plushie.

"No! Please, don't take it!" Kym cries as she quickly lets go of her dolphin and takes the seahorse in her little arms. Amphitrite doesn't acknowledge her daughter's pain. She continues removing the plushies from the nest.

"You don't need these, they make you weaker than you already are." The queen spits as she puts the plushies into a bag.

Kymopoleia shakes in fear sitting in a corner of her now-destroyed nest.. She doesn't recognize her Mama anymore. She knows something is wrong.

Behind her now seemingly merciless exterior, Amphitrite's heart is aching as she hears her youngest baby cry. She's hurting knowing that she's destroying her own child, powerless from the influence that has taken over her life. She knows Kymopoleia needs her plushies, she's an omega, and it's for her comfort.

But Amphitrite can't reach her.

At some point, Kymopoleia got out of her nest. And now tried to fight back. She pushes Amphitrite away, still holding her seahorse. "I hate you!" the little girl screams as she pushes her mother away from her nest.

Amphititre didn't bulge, Kymopoleia's strength was nothing compared to the one who inhabited her Mother. The atmosphere begins to shift, Kymopoleia moves back as her mother advances, smiling like a predator ready to hunt their prey.

Amphitrite kneels in front of her child still smiling. And then she whispers. "What did you just say to me?"

The tiny goddess takes a breath trying to calm herself as she feels her heartbeat becoming faster. But then Kym stood her ground. "I-I said I hate you," she repeats. "You can't take my plushies!" She cries angrily, her tiny hands holding onto the seahorse to give her strength.

The dark figure smiles and cups the child's cheek. Kymopoleia stands still as she feels the cold harsh hand touching her. "I can do whatever I want to-" Kym looks up as her mother suddenly stops speaking. Her normally kind face seemed to be transformed with anguish.

"Don't touch her.' Amphitrite pleads within her mind. "She's just a child."

The voice merely laughs mockingly. "It's quite funny you think I care, dear Amphitrite."

Amphitrite fights inside desperately trying to regain control of her body but to no avail.

Kymopoleia watches silently. Her mom's eyes seem to change depending on who is controlling the body, although she has no idea what is happening to her mother technically.

Eventually, the eyes get darker again. And her mom smiles. "Now, now," Amphitrite's darker voice began, "Either you hand me your plushie and I let you go alive, or you can fight and you'll suffer the consequences.'

The little omega clutches her seahorse even more tightly now. But she wasn't going to let it go without a fight. "It's mine." She says defiantly. " You can't take it."

The seahorse was her most prized possession. Her mom had made it for her. It had her scent on it. It protected her from the nightmares. Kymopoleia feels her Mom's cold hands grab the seahorse. So she yanks it back as hard as she can. "No! Mama!"

"Your Mama doesn't care about Kymopoleia." Their grip on the seahorse tightens even more. Kymopoleia's eyes fill with tears. "You're merely a disruption, a burden to your family." Her hold on the precious stuffed animal starts to falter. And Amphitrite smiles.

"You can have strong Kymopoleia. You have potential.' It continues. "But for the potential to arise, we need to remove the weaknesses." The seahorse is taken away.

Kymopoleia stares at it in shock. And cries. "Please, Mama. You made it for me!" She pleads. But her mother is gone. Amphitrite stands up and puts the seahorse into the bag with the rest of the stuffed animals. She looks down at the child sobbing. "You need to stop acting like an omega. You need to toughen up. From now on, you'll have no more plushies and we'll also have to get rid of your nest." The Queen of the Sea adds as she looks around the room.

Kymopoleia sobs take over. And she falls on the floor. The currents around Atlantis get more violent as she does so. "You'll be strong when you grow up. I'll make a good soldier out of you." Her sobs echo around the room enough to startle the servants walking by.

Poseidon was sitting in the war room, hearing the usual same old boring reports of the counselors, his head resting in his left palm. He's bored out of his mind as Delphin explains that they need to take action with the Red Sea embassy and who needs to be called for the next dinner.

But then he felt the instinct that something was wrong. It was rare when it happened but he felt it deep within his body. The Sea God straightens in his seat, and he looks at his eldest son who would be twenty in human years. Triton makes eye contact and nods.

He felt it too.

Poseidon is quick to stand to his feet and excuses himself swiftly. Triton asks if he can come too but his father tells him to stay, as it might be unsafe. The young merman nods, but he fears that something worse than what they imagined might have happened.

When he's out of the council room he hears Kym's sobs. He knows now that something might have happened and so Poseidon runs.

Meanwhile, Amphitrite, despite herself wanting to take Kymopoleia into her arms, is forced to watch powerlessly as her little one sobs on the floor. Her heart aches. She tries to move toward her child but she can't

Instead, the entity speaks for her. "Are you going to stay on the floor and cry all day?" The words are harsh and cold. Devoid of any warmth from her mother.

It only makes Kymopoleia cry harder, and Amphitrite rolls her eyes in annoyance. "You remind me why I always despised children."

Kymopoleia only wants to feel comforted. She hiccups as she tries to calm her sobs. Her little hands try to rub at the tears. But then she lifts her small arms in the air because she wants her mom to hold her. "Mama," she asks.

And that gave Amphitrite enough willpower to be able to get some control back over her body. She drops the bag full of plushies on the floor and they scatter around the room.

Amphitrite's movements are uncoordinated as she desperately tries to find the seahorse, in the mess of stuffed animals.

"Amphitrite what are you doing?" Poseidon asks in disbelief at the scene he just witnessed.

His alpha doesn't respond at first, she's too busy trying to grab the remaining crumbs of the love she has for her family.

"I-I'm trying…" She cuts herself as she finds the seahorse and hands it out to her daughter. "Kym, Mama's here," she says, her voice trembling. "I don't have much time. Take your seahorse and go to Papa."

Kymopoleia looks at her confused. But grabs the seahorse. She felt her Mother pushing her away in the other direction, where Poseidon had been standing in the doorway.

"I love you, Kym, please forgive me," Amphitrite quickly whispers before she feels herself taken hostage in her own body once more.

A tear drops from her eye. As her vision starts to turn black she sees Poseidon scooping their daughter in his arms, and so she knows she'll be safe from her. Poseidon tries to hide his own fears as he watches his dear wife collapse on the floor.

He feels Kymopolei's fingers clutch onto his shirt as he quickly makes his way towards his room. He gently puts Kym into the nest. He quickly envelops her into a warm blanket that smells like her mother, or what remained of her.

"Kym, I need you to stay here okay?" He tells her. As he arranges the blanket. "I'll come get you when it's safe, but you need to stay in the nest."

Kymopoleia holds her seahorse and nods. "Is Mama coming back?" She asks. Poseidon stops in his tracks."Mama isn't doing well right now, little one." He tells her. Kymopoleia nods sadly.

"Mama doesn't love me." Poseidon looks at her. "No, no she does Kym. It's just that Mama is sick right now. She needs help." He adds. He'll have to go to Zeus and ask him for help tomorrow. Poseidon can only hope that he'll help.

Amphitrite had changed drastically in a mere few months. It worried Poseidon a bit because she would act normally and then she would become harsh and mean to him. Whereas before she had been so loving and gentle.

He couldn't have asked for a better alpha. She loved their children so much. And now, everything was different.

Poseidon holds his youngest little one close for a few more moments and he gives Kym a quick cuddle before he leaves once more. "Papa will be back soon sweetie."

On his way, Poseidon finds a servant and tells them to look after Kymopoleia while he's busy. They nod swiftly sensing his urgency and make their way to the nest as instructed.

Poseidon goes back to Kymopoleia's room and finds Amphitrite now recovered and destroying their youngest daughter's nest.

"Amphi, what do you think you're doing?" He asks gently not wanting to disrupt his alpha when she's in those states. Amphitrite smiles, and it sends a shiver down Poseidon's spine. "Kymopoleia needs to learn how to become strong. We're coddling her too much."

Poseidon's heart sinks. The Amphitrite he knows would never say something like this. But it's become more and more apparent that he didn't know her at all. Even though she had been so kind and loving before.

"You hurt our daughter Amphitrite. You have to change, you're not the same person I married all those years ago."He says as he crosses his arms over his chest.

Amphitrite looks at him as if it was all a game. "Maybe you were too naive and weak to realize who I really am."

The words hurt him like blades but he doesn't say anything. But she continues and gets closer to him. Her gaze is harsh and mean.

"We both know how desperate you were to court me then, crying when I rejected your pathetic advances." She snarls, enjoying the way his face crumbles. He tries to refrain from crying.

"I-I didn't think you felt this way."He takes a breath to calm his emotions bubbling at the surface. "But, despite everything, I won't allow you to hurt our children"

Amphitrite arranges her crab claws in her hair as he talks, with the same elegance she used to, but she seems menacing as she does so. A cruel smile makes its way to her features. "Brace yourself then," she says with a mocking tone " Because it's merely the beginning, my dear Omega."

Poseidon's heart is pounding in his chest. But his love for her is unwavering. "I won't give up on you Amphi." He says sadly. "But I won't let you hurt our family like this."

Amphitrite finally stops arranging her hair and she looks back at him, "Then someone will have to pay the price."

Poseidon gulps slightly, he never imagined in a million years that they would end up in this situation, but he has to protect his children. Amphitrite smells Poseidon's distress but doesn't try to help.

"Then I will." He advances slowly towards her. "Take it out on me, but don't you dare hurt them." She caresses his cheek gently before everything they had built together starts to become a nightmare.

"Be careful what you wish for, my love," are the last words he hears before he feels her once gentle hands take out their rage on his body.

Poseidon takes it and doesn't resist. Hit after hit. He lets her rage cover his body. His mind wanders towards his children. He thinks of ways to hide the inevitable scars that will cover him.

The only thing keeping him away from falling into despair is the fact that he knows it's not really her.
