Chapter 3
Endora sat at the table doing homework in the common room when Santo returned to her shoulder, whispering in her ear. "Really?" She squinted at the information and looked around to see if she could spot the person in question. He was on the couch near the fire, reading a book. "Did you find out why?" she whispered. She tilted her head as she listened to the whispers in her ear. She only sighed; the shadow got nothing, and it just left her even more confused over why Wyatt was suddenly so curious about her. She leaned back in her chair and looked at the various texts from her mom. The last one was encouraging, but Endora didn't feel it.
Wyatt turned his eyes in her direction and raised a brow at her playing with that muggle device. He wondered if he could get one, maybe during a Hogsmeade weekend or break. Perhaps if he had one, he could talk to her with it. He pursed his lips and returned to looking at the book, trying to distract himself from how strange he felt. Why should he care what she thought about him? He wanted to go over to her and get her attention, but the moment he was about to, he saw Albus and Scorpius sit with her, asking for opinions over something they were dealing with.
"You've made friends with girls in Gryffindor, huh?" She decided to tease the boys, "Are they cute?"
The looks on their faces were precious. "Penelope was talking about how witches used to commune with the earth for their power. Any idea why that stopped?" Scorpius asked.
"I suppose it has to do with how times have changed over the centuries. What else did she tell you?"
"Well... she seemed bothered by the whole wand and broom thing?"
"What about it?" She raised a brow.
"Something about it being unnatural since witches used to make their own. She's going to show me."
Endora looked interested. "That sounds cool. You'll have to show me when you've learned." She looked to Albus, "And what about you?"
"Oh- er, Annabelle will be helping me with flying lessons."
"Are you having trouble with that? That's a bit surprising given your lineage."
"Yeah, well…" he coughed.
Endora smirked, "are you being a little Casanova and using it as an excuse?" She laughed a little at the look on his face. Apparently, she had hit the nail on the head. "That's smooth of you, Albus. I didn't think you'd have that in you."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Of course you don't." She patted his head.
Wyatt willed them to leave the entire time they were talking. When they eventually left, he waited for her to start heading toward the dorm to pull her toward him.
Endora squeaked out, confusion on her face as she lost footing and fell face-first into his chest. She pulled back and looked up at him, "Why did you do that?"
He stared down at her for a long moment before letting go. He coughed and awkwardly moved his hands onto his hips before crossing his arms and shifting to his other foot, "I was wondering how long you'd waste time with those two first years."
Her expression fell, "Silverthorn, as an older student, it's important to look after our younger peers. I'm disappointed that you'd call spending time with them a waste. We should be available to give guidance, especially since there's still a lot of bias between the houses."
Great. Why do I feel like that just gave me another strike? He sighed, "Right, I get it. I didn't mean it like that."
"Of course you didn't. Anyway, what do you want?"
He shifted a little. "Well, I wanted to," he twitched at himself. He grabbed her arms and turned them, pressing her back into the large window separating them from the deep depths of the black lake. He had both hands resting on the glass, trapping her between his arms as he looked down at her. "The first Hogsmeade weekend, I want you to go with me." He had lowered his voice to a deep whisper as he made eye contact.
Endora felt her heart leap into her throat at the sudden encounter. "H-Hogsmeade weekend? Together with you?"
"That's what I said. Do I need to repeat myself, Dursley?" He moved closer, pinning her just as he had wanted. That damn scent of hers that he couldn't quite place had him wanting to do far more than just hold her there.
She shifted, a nervous flutter building in her belly. "If I say yes, will you move away from me?"
"Why? You look like you're enjoying this."
"What makes you say that?" She squinted at him.
He smirked and reached out, cupping her face in his hand, "Your cheeks are getting red, almost like you're anticipating more than this." His thumb brushed her lips, his eyes on her face. He rather enjoyed the way she was reacting.
Her breath hitched at the touch, but she averted her gaze toward the window, where the octopus of the lake swam by. It looked their way for a second and then swam off as though seeing a pair of teenagers in this situation was nothing new. "Just stop. I'll go with you, okay?"
He twirled a lock of her hair between his fingers, "it's a date then." He let go of her hair and poked her nose. He laughed to himself at her reaction.
She squinted at him. She, however, remained trapped between his arms.
"Were you wanting more than that? Because that can be arranged." He started to lean toward her, only for her to duck down, causing his face to end up pressed into the glass instead. He pulled back and turned in time to see her running off to the dorms. He rubbed his lips and chuckled, her scent still floating around him. She's cute when she's flustered. He crossed his arms and returned to his seat, already working out what to do during their date.
Endora was screeching as she thought about how she got into this situation. She was glad no one had been around to see what had just gone down between them. Was he really about to kiss me? She slapped her cheeks to get that thought out of her head. And why a date all of a sudden!? She slipped into her dorm room and flopped face-first onto her bed, where she crawled in and pulled the curtains shut to avoid the looks of her dorm mates. Casting a quick silence spell over her bed, she openly screeched like a pterodactyl melting in lava.
