I had no idea what to expect going into helping the Davis family, the moment that I met Ashe I knew I was hooked. She was such a cute kid, and I felt like she was going to help me earn my keep. I mean this kid was all over the damn place, but she was funny, and I felt like I could keep her safe. I know it wasn't what I signed up for, but I didn't care what the job was about. I knew this threat was serious and I was not going to let any harm come to those kids even if it killed me. Janna her and I well we haven't had a chance to bond yet she was still young, so I focused everything on the little lady. She had me wrapped around her finger the moment, I had no idea what she was going to be like as she got older but right now, she was wild, and I felt like that was only going to escalate. When I was told I had a protection order I never expected it to be 2 kids, but I took my job seriously and I would do everything in my power to keep them safe. Even if it was non-threatening, I was there to make sure they were happy and were kept out of harm's way. With my dad being my boss and all, it wasn't like I could say no. I mean no one says no to Markus Kane, I grew up in the business not like I had any choice not to join. I grew up watching him train and protect a lot of people, I guess it was in my nature. When I heard it was Josh Davis asking for the protection, I jumped on it. I mean he was a celebrity, and I was a huge Toronto Raptors fan, and him getting hurt was a huge blow but I wanted to help. In a way I was protecting him too his kids were not the only ones in danger. I read the note sent to them and I had a feeling there were going to be more.
I slept very little it was part of the job, ever little noise kept waking me up. I was annoyed at myself, I knew the dryer was not a threat, I mean seriously. It was 7 am and I could hear little footsteps upstairs, I was going to let her parents sleep in a bit, so I made my way up there, she was in the bathroom. One good thing about Ashe she was potty trained, "Jaxon" she said, "shh come on let's get you downstairs, we can make mommy and daddy breakfast" I said. She smiled, I also grabbed Janna as I heard her in her crib, I changed her and fed her a bottle as I tried to help Ashe make something for her parents. I decided on pancakes I mean it was something I could make fun for her and my mom taught me how to do it. "Alright little miss pour this into the bowl" I said giving her a cup of flour. She did as she was told and did a few more, I then gave her the baking powder and the eggs. She looked at me, "break the egg and pour it in" I said, she did this, but I guess I should have been more specific as she dropped the shells in there too. "Okay woah little lady just the liquid part" I said as I picked the eggshells out, "sorry" she said, "it's fine no harm done, now we stir" I said handing her the spoon, she was a pro. "Great now we cook them, but I am going to do this part as it is hot" I said, she looked at me with those sad puppy eyes, "don't give me that little lady, I don't want you to get hurt" I said. "Please" she said, "fine" I said not like I could keep saying no, like I said she had me wrapped around her finger. We managed to make the pancakes without any injuries, and I even let her pour a glass of orange juice. I poured the coffee, and I helped her carry it upstairs all while carrying Janna as well. I mean I was going to be a pro at this before I knew it.
Ashe was so excited to deliver the food, and her parents were shocked that it was just after 8, "wow thank you princess" Josh said and she had the biggest smile on her face. Sophie looked to me, "thank you" she said, "no problem, I had fun" I said, after they finished eating, we all went back downstairs, and Sophie helped me clean up the kitchen despite me telling her not too. "I haven't slept in since Ashe was born" she said and I was glad I could help them. Sophie left for class and Josh wanted to get some errands done that left me with both girls, I mean I could handle this, I knew I could. Janna would sleep and I was going to just have Ashe. Things escalated in the house quickly as Ashe was running around like a crazy person, I mean I needed to get her outside. I decided that I would risk it maybe take them to the zoo, I felt like Ashe would have a good time. I bundled them up and had them in the car. I texted both Josh and Sophie to let them know of my plan, Ashe was jumping up and down in her seat as much as she could she was excited. Janna well she just cried, I was almost there, and I would get her in the stroller, and everything would work out. The zoo wasn't that busy so that was good, I kept my eyes peeled on the girls and everyone who I felt would pose as a threat to them. Ashe was running ahead of me, and I mean if this girl fell or was to get hurt in any way I would fail at my job. "Ashe please walk with me, we will see it all I promise" I said, she came closer but screamed with excitement when she saw a lion. "Look a lion, I want to pet it" she said. "Um no just looking" I said I swear if it wasn't behind glass she would be in there trying to pet it. We saw lots of animals and were even able to pet some of them. She pet a lemur, a penguin and something else I can't remember the name of it. We were on the last exhibit, and I just finished feeding Janna. "JAXON!" Ashe screamed my name and I immediately locked eyes with her, "look a crocodile" she said, and I ran over to her. I looked down at this creature and I was relieved it was not a crocodile it was an armadillo. "That is not a crocodile but it time to go home" I said, she looked up at me and yawned, she was tired. I put her on my back and carried her will I pushed the stroller. "I had fun Jaxon thank you" she said, "I had fun too little lady" I said and I put her in the car she fell asleep. It was a pretty successful day and I managed to keep both of them safe, this was going to be a piece of cake.
