The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Chapter 20
Herobrine's piglins did well, better than he was expecting. He reveled in watching Notch's oh so mighty legion run away in fear. His body was filled with pure euphoria listening to the screams of agony. He had lost quite a few piglins, but not too many. For an army who outnumbered his piglins two to one, they barely managed to kill twenty-seven piglins.
His piglins would've continued to massacre them, but he ordered them to hold back as the legion retreated. He wanted to see where they'd go, so that he could attack their base. He and a few piglins shadowed the legion for a while.
Herobrine got to feel even more euphoria watching them march away in defeat. Many of them were still covered in the blood of their comrades. They faced away from him, but he wanted nothing more than to see their crushed faces.
With his confirmation that his piglins not only could take on a legion, even at a disadvantaged number, he was much more confident in his future campaign against the Army of Notch.
His accompanying piglins wanted to attack the legion while they were weak, but Herobrine ordered them to wait. He had to kill one piglin who tried to make a run for the knights. Luckily, it set the other piglins straight and he didn't have any more incidents while following.
Damn these piglins. He thought. Good fighters, at least against the humans, but far too stupid to keep around long term.
Herobrine figured once he defeated the Army of Notch and Notch himself, he'd kill the remaining piglins. He didn't think it would be too difficult. There was no way he'd be able to fight off all remaining nine hundred and seventy-three of them, but he projected high casualties in the coming war.
Herobrine began to get restless as they followed the legion. It didn't help that they walked agonizingly slow now. He was starting to understand the piglins' thirst for blood. He too was being tempted by the easy target. He ignored these thoughts.
Soon, Herobrine could make out a structure over the horizon. He rejuvenated at the site of what could be their base. However, once he got a better look at the base, he stopped. It was massive, much more than a base, this was a fortress. Its huge dark walls were surrounded by hundreds of dead monsters. He'd never seen anything like it, not even in the nether fortresses.
For the first time, Herobrine became worried. There was no chance his piglins could win in a battle against this behemoth. Some of the villages he'd attacked had walls around them, but his piglins managed to bust down the gates and get in. However, nothing they'd seen so far could ever compare to what laid before his eyes.
He watched as the thick gates opened up to let the legion in. It would take more than pilgins to bust through it. There was no way they could scale the walls either, they were too tall, his pilgins were too stupid, and if they weren't, the guards atop the wall would surely cut down any rope thrown up there.
Herobrine considered bringing other monsters from the Nether, but only the piglins would actually listen to his commands. The other monsters were mindless killing machines. No way he could turn them into an army. He needed something new, something better.
Suddenly, an idea came to him. He knew just what to create to bring down this fortress and eventually the Army of Notch. It would take a while for him to create it, due to his limited powers; but once he did, he'd have a real show on his hands.
…
It had taken Notch a while, but he discovered a village. It was in rough shape. It appeared it had been attacked. Around the outskirts of the village lay dead monsters.
This truly confirmed the return of his brother. Notch wrapped himself in a cloak to hide himself, not sure if the locals would recognize him. Not that he wanted to be recognized.
There were many tents set up that appeared to be treating injured people. It was a terrible sight for Notch. This wasn't at all how he envisioned his humanity. If he had known their fate, he wouldn't have created them at all.
He couldn't focus on that. He was there for one thing and one thing only. Knowledge. There must be a library around that can tell him what happened during his absence. It didn't take him long to find it. It was a big library, full of rows of books. This was exactly what he needed. And as a bonus, everyone was too preoccupied outside. He could focus on learning about this world and maybe find out where Herobrine is going.
