I promised things would get brighter last chapter. So here is another shot of brightness to lighten your day!

As per normal, thank you my Co-Author MisaRae!

Chance woke up on the kitchen floor alone. Apparently Callie had covered him with a blanket while he slept, before she left him. He heard the water running in the bathroom, and assumed that she was taking a shower. He attempted to get up from the floor on his own; however, the lack of strength in his injured leg prevented him from doing so. He slowly lowered himself back to the floor and waited patiently for Callie to finish showering and get dressed so she could help him get up and get dressed.

Ulysses woke up in Callista's apartment, in her bed, without his fiancée sleeping next to him. He assumed she had been gone for a while, since her side of the bed was cold. He got out of bed and searched his pants pockets for his phone. After he found the phone, Ulysses called Tim in order to check on the status of his assignment.

While Tim waited for Candice to finish in the bathroom, he turned on the news and watched it to catch up on recent events. As the weather report began, he heard the bathroom door open. He turned his head towards the bathroom door, and his eyes almost fell out of his head when his gaze landed on his now-girlfriend's body and what she was wearing. He saw Candice walking towards the dresser, wearing nothing but a towel that did very little to hide her long, shapely legs. As his eyes traveled further up Candice's body and stopped at her chest, he noticed the towel she was wearing barely covered her breasts, a sight that would whet the appetite of any tom that saw her.

Candice started her normal daily routine, and turned on a radio that was on the dresser's right hand corner. The radio started playing a fast-moving pop tune, and Candice started swaying her hips and tail in time with the beat as she opened the drawers to the dresser, removed several articles of clothing, and threw them on the bed.

Tim watched her intensely as she danced in front of him without a care in the world. He wanted nothing more than to sneak up behind her, place his paws on her hips, and dance with her. However, he was so entranced with her fluid movements as she danced by herself, that he stayed put in order to watch her.

The music changed to an even faster tune and Candice responded. She let the music move her any way it wanted. Her arms, hips, and tail responded to every beat of the drum. Her dancing drew Tim out of the bed and to her side.

His paws had a mind of their own, landing on her waist, pulling her tightly against his frame, and then he let her lead him as she danced in perfect time with the music.

Both Tim and Candice were having the time of their lives, just dancing in each other's arms. They both were smiling, on the verge of laughter. As the music played, they danced even closer. Finally, Candice turned and wrapped her arms around Tim's neck as they danced to the beat, until Candice's towel fell to the floor, leaving her bare to the world.

Tim stopped dancing and quickly turned his head to avert his gaze from her form, but Candice had other ideas. She placed her right paw against Tim's left cheek, guided his head back to her, and brought her lips up to meet his.

They kissed passionately, letting each other's tongues explore their mouths as Candice's paws found the waistband of Tim's underwear and started to lower them down his body.

That was when Tim's phone started to ring on the nightstand by his side of the bed.

Candice pulled back from their kiss and said, "Let," she fiercely kissed him again, "it," she went deeper on her next kiss, her tongue brushing against Tim's briefly before she reclaimed it in order to speak one more word, her lips brushing his with the single syllable, "ring."

As much as Tim wanted to continue kissing Candice, and possibly make love to her for the first time, the ring tone playing from the phone told him that it was the Commander, and if he didn't answer it, there was a possibility that Ulysses would pull him from this detail, and worse, away from the she-cat that had captivated his very being. He pulled out of her hold and answered his phone. "Yes, Commander."

"Good morning, Jones. How is your assignment going?" Ulysses asked.

Tim replied, "Very well, sir. My charge is safe and sound, and living out her life."

Candice was not happy at all that Tim had stopped making out with her to take a call. She didn't care who was on the other end of the line, since she was ready to take Tim to places that he had never been before, and no phone call was going to stop her. She said, "Tim. Would you rather talk on the phone, or play with your naked girlfriend?" Her paws were placed solidly on her cocked hips as she spoke.

Ulysses heard Candice, and he slowly brought the phone away from his head and looked at it in disbelief. He slowly brought the phone back to his ear and nervously asked, "Jones, please don't tell me that was the she-cat you are supposed to be protecting?"

Tim could never lie to the Commander, since he had never once told a lie, or even sugar coated anything to make it easier for his troops. He turned his head to Candice and mouthed, 'Thanks a lot.' He then replied, "Yes, Commander, that was the she-cat I am in charge of protecting. Something very wonderful happened while on this assignment. We fell in love with each other, Commander, and we were about to go and get ready for a long drive so I can meet her family. I have never felt this good being around a she-cat before, and I have a very good feeling that she feels the same towards me."

Ulysses thought very briefly about what Jones had told him, but the safety of the witness had to be paramount, no matter what feelings had developed between Tim and Candice. He replied, "Officer, I am torn between removing you from this detail, and congratulating you on finding love. You are not making this an easy decision for me, Jones. Will you be able to put your feelings aside and protect her the way you were trained to do if the need arises? Answer carefully, Jones. If I don't get the answer I want to hear, I will be forced to remove you from this detail, and believe me, I don't want to do it."

Tim focused on Candice, and then back to the phone before he replied, "Commander, I will gladly give my life, if that what needs to be done to protect her and keep her safe. You have my word that her safety is first and foremost in my mind. Although, she can fair very well for herself, and does not need to be watched over constantly."

"Jones, I am going to trust you on this, for now. Be advised, one slip up and I will remove you from this detail and place your charge in protective custody at a safe house, far away from here," Ulysses said.

"Commander, I love her and I promise I will keep her safe! There is no reason to move her to a safe house," Tim replied.

"Glad to hear it, Jones," Ulysses said. He lowered the tone of his voice before he said the next part, "By the way, my fiancée would kill me if I separated you two. She is a very old school romantic at heart, and I love her for that."

Candice had enough of Tim talking to the Commander. She walked over to him, took the phone from him and said into the phone, "Commander, you have nothing to worry about. Officer Jones is doing an excellent job keeping me safe. However, he may need someone to keep him safe.. from me. Good-bye, Commander."

Tim could not believe that she had the moxie to hang up on the Commander. He said, "You really should have not done that, Candice. That was an official phone call."

"So, what is more important to you, Tim? Talking to your boss or pleasing me?" Candice asked as she wrapped her arms around his neck, effectively rubbing her breasts against his bare chest.

Tim leaned his head forward in order to claim her lips in a fiery kiss, but before his lips could meet hers, she backed away and said, "Oh, that's right. You wanted to take things slow and let the relationship build before you make love to me for the first time. Too bad for you. I was going to show you how I am the best she-cat you've ever had!" She then spun out of his arms and proceeded to get dressed. Although, she was not quite done with her little tease. Candice purposely set her body at an angle, giving Tim a perfect view of her shapely form before she bent over to put her underwear on.

Tim was on the verge of going insane with arousal. Between Candice's seductive movements, and his resolve to let the relationship build before they got to the physical part of their relationship, his mind and body were at war with each other. Tim finally held up his paws in frustration and said, "I'm going to take a cold shower." He walked into the bathroom and slammed the door behind him.

Candice winced when the door slammed, but she then grimaced and said, "Tonight I up the ante a little farther. You are going to know what it feels like to be hunted by a lioness in heat!" She quickly dressed and left the bedroom.

Adonis made his way into the hospital's cafeteria and stood on line with a red plastic tray in his paws. Several she-cats stared at him as they passed by. He slowly moved forward as the line progressed and perused the menu board, trying to figure out what Callista would like for breakfast. He didn't have to worry about feeding Lisa, since the hospital's dietician probably had her meals already set for her. Adonis finally made it to the head of the line, and was greeted by an older she-cat that was wearing a hair net, plastic gloves, and had a deep southern drawl. She asked, "What can I get you, sweetie?"

Adonis replied, "May I have an order of hot cakes, bacon, and a side of toast, as well as a salmon omelet, please?"

"Certainly, sugar. Would you like coffee and juice with that?" the she-cat asked.

"If you would not mind, ma'am," Adonis replied.

"Ooo! Ain't you a polite one? With manners and a body like yours, you must have all the young she-cats lining up for a shot with you," the she-cat said as she wrote down his order.

Adonis smiled at her and replied, "No ma'am, I don't have, as you said, all the young she-cats lining up for a shot with me. I am happily engaged to be married to the she-cat of my dreams."

"Now ain't that a shame. My daughter would have loved to meet you. She has been trying to find a nice, polite tom to settle down with for some time. Do you have a sibling that is single?" she asked.

Adonis smiled at her and replied, "No ma'am, I don't have any siblings." He told her a little white lie to protect his identity from her. He then said, "Now, if I was not engaged and hopelessly in love with my fiancée, I would not mind going out with your daughter, as long as she is as good looking as her mother."

She blushed and then said, "If for some reason it does not work out with your fiancée, come on back here and ask for Arlene, and I will set you up with my daughter Serena. She is a nurse here in the hospital. You might have met her already?"

Upon hearing the name Serena leave her lips, Adonis thought, 'How can someone like Serena come from a she-cat who is as pleasant as Arlene? She must get it from her father or something.' He did not want to tell Arlene that her daughter had come onto him rather aggressively, nor did he want to lie to her again. He replied, "I think I might have crossed her path sometime yesterday. Does she work up in the surgical ward?"

"Yes, that's my daughter. What did you think of her? Be honest," Arlene asked as she ripped her current ticket off her ordering pad and slapped it down on the ledge separating the kitchen from the rest of the cafeteria.

"To be 100% honest, Arlene, if you don't mind me calling you Arlene, that is?" Adonis asked, trying to avoid her question.

"You can call me Arlene, sweetie. Now, about my daughter, what did you really think of her?" Arlene asked again.

Adonis was about to answer when one of the cooks in the kitchen yelled, "Arlene! Order up!"

Arlene turned her head towards the kitchen and yelled back, "Hold your horses, Harry! I'll be right there." She then turned back to Adonis and said, "Be right back, sweetie." She headed off towards the kitchen to get Adonis' order.

Adonis watched her walk into the kitchen with her head held high and tail swinging from side to side as she walked. After she disappeared into the kitchen and the door closed behind her, he let out a sigh of relief that he didn't have to answer her question, at least for now.

Another nurse was standing in line right behind Adonis. She had heard the entire exchange between Adonis and Arlene. She let out a chuckle and said, "Arlene is such a nice she-cat. It is too bad that her daughter is such a slut, and is willing to sleep with any tom that gives her the time of day."

Adonis turned to her and looked down at the nurse's face. He then said, "Serena tried to get me to sleep with her when I was resting upstairs in one of the staff's break rooms. I turned her down, and told her that my fiancée's tail was much better than hers."

The nurse's face lit up, since she had just met one of the only toms that actually turned Serena down. She asked, "So you are that handsome hunk she was talking about?"

"I guess I am. I'm Adonis, by the way," Adonis said, and held out his right paw to shake the nurse's.

The nurse extended her right paw and took Adonis' paw in hers. She then said, "I'm Nancy. Pleased to meet you, Adonis. Serena is right about one thing, though; you are absolutely the most gorgeous tom that we've seen in this hospital in a very long time. However, I don't approve of her aggressiveness at all. It's too bad that Arlene is related to her. Arlene is as sweet as a southern peach, and she is loved for it by everyone who works at the hospital, and does not deserve how Serena treats her."

Adonis scowled beneath his mask and asked, "She mistreats her own mother? Who does that?"

"Unfortunately, yes. Serena walks all over her every chance she gets. I mentioned it to Serena several times that almost everyone at the hospital hates the way she berates Arlene, but she just laughs it off and goes on with her day, flirting with the male orderlies and nurses, trying to find her next fling," Nancy replied.

Adonis could feel his anger at Serena rising with every word Nancy said. He thought, 'How dare she treat her own mother with such disrespect. If I did that, my father would kill me without thinking about it twice!' He said, "If I ever see her, I will give her a piece of my mind and force her to listen. Arlene does not deserve to have a daughter who treats her badly. Even though I only just met her, she seems very kind and caring, and most of all, a genuine southern belle."

Nancy removed her paw from his before he accidentally crushed it as she felt his muscles tighten up as he spoke. She rubbed her right paw with her left, and Adonis noticed her movements immediately. His scowl fell away and a look of concern took its place. He asked, "I didn't hurt you, did I?"

Nancy massaged some feeling back into her paw, then looked up into Adonis' face and noticed he was truly worried that he had hurt her. She brought her right paw up to his cheek, gave it a gentle caress, and replied, "No harm done, Adonis." She let her eyes rake down his body, and then back up to his face again. Nancy asked, "So, what's with the name and the outfit? Are you a wrestler, or some sort of stage performer?"

Adonis let out a deep belly laugh and then replied, "No, Nancy, I am not a wrestler or a stage performer. My fiancée and I are members of an elite group of cats who protect this city in ways the Enforcers can't. We are known as the SWAT Kats."

You are a SWAT Kat?" Nancy asked. "But your uniform is black and.. um…" Her eyes quickly scanned his body before she continued, "Quite revealing compared to T-Bone and Razor's red on blue flight suits Nancy said.

Adonis knew his uniform was different from T-Bone and Razor's. However, he wanted to tease Nancy just a hair. His eyes went wide and his mouth formed an "O". He then jokingly replied, "It is? You mean T-Bone and Razor don't wear something this form-fitting all the time? Well, I will have to bring that up to them when I see them next." He couldn't keep his act up any longer, and started laughing at himself.

Nancy was not appreciative of his teasing. She balled up her left paw into a tight fist and swung. When her paw connected with the solid muscle in his left arm, she winced in pain and pulled her paw back.

Adonis stopped laughing and asked, "Sorry Nancy, I did not mean to tease you too badly." He rubbed her left paw with his right and continued, "My wife and I make up the black operations division of SWAT. We handle the covert assignments that the rest of SWAT can't do since they are well known throughout the city. As for my uniform, it is this tight to keep the wind resistance down while we ride the Cyclotrons, and the material is resistant to damage from weaponry, from what I have been told. Not that I want to try out that particular feature anytime soon."

Nancy looked up into his mask and asked, "You said your wife, and not your fiancée, just now. Are you married already and have a fiancée, too?"

"No, I am not married, yet. My fiancée is upstairs with one of her friends right now." He paused as his mind pictured Lisa in her wedding gown. He then said after he smiled, "Before she was injured, I had been having a reoccurring dream about our wedding day; especially how beautiful she is going to look in her wedding dress. I guess I think of her as my wife, and not my fiancée anymore. Right now, I haven't been sleeping much, and when I do, I wake up from a nightmare that someone is coming to kill her." He started to tear up again as his mind wandered off to an image of Lisa lying perfectly still in a coffin.

Nancy reached up, brought her arms around his neck, and hugged him. She said, "It's ok, Adonis. She is safe here, especially with you protecting her. Someone would have to be extremely brave or very stupid to try anything with you standing guard."

Adonis wiped a tear away from his left eye and said, "Thank you, Nancy."

Arlene came out of the kitchen with two bags of food. She placed them on the counter and said, "Here you go sweetie." Her head turned slightly to the right, and saw Nancy with her arms around Adonis. Arlene asked," Nancy, I am surprised at you. This hunk of a tom is taken already. Are you trying to be like my daughter?"

Nancy removed her arms from Adonis and replied, "No Arlene, I am not trying to be like Serena. He needed a hug, and I gave him one as a friend. Nothing more, right Adonis?"

Adonis replied, "That is correct. I love my fiancée, soon to be wife, too much to even think of doing something along those lines."

Arlene handed the bags to Adonis and said, "Good, because if you did and I found out, I would tan your hide! Get out of 'ere and go be with your girl!"

"Yes ma'am, and thank you," Adonis said to Arlene, but before he left, he turned to Nancy and said, "It was nice meeting you, Nancy. I hope to see you again before my fiancée gets discharged."

"What room is she in? I work on the fifth floor, so I might be assigned to her care already," Nancy asked.

"She is in room 515," Adonis replied.

"Sorry Adonis that is Felicia's ward. You have nothing to worry about. Felicia is an excellent nurse, and she works with Dr. Feldman exclusively. There is no law saying that I can't stop by when I am on break, though," Nancy said.

"No, there is nothing stopping you from stopping by. Depending on when, though, I might not be there. Razor is supposed to relieve me soon so I can actually get some rest," Adonis said.

"Oh, well if I do not see you again, it was nice meeting you too, Adonis. May I ask you a favor?" Nancy asked.

"Sure," Adonis replied.

"We have a cancer ward here in the hospital that caters to young kittens who are cursed with that horrible disease. The ward is light and airy, but it is still a very scary place for the kittens to be in. I think if the SWAT Kats paid a visit; it would lift the spirits of the kittens who have been admitted there. Do you think SWAT would be willing to do that for the kittens in the hospital?" Nancy asked.

Adonis put his right paw on her left shoulder and replied, "I am sure that can be arranged. I'll talk to Razor when he gets here."

Nancy's face lit up, and she jumped up in order to wrap her arms around Adonis' neck. She then said, "Oh, thank you so much! You have no idea how much this is going to mean to the kittens and the staff of that ward!"

"You are welcome, Nancy. SWAT is always willing to do stuff like that. I even think I might be able to bring a special guest, but I will have to ask her first," Adonis said, as he instantly thought of Callista's very large heart. He then said, "Now I need to get this food back up to my friend. Mind letting go?"

Nancy let him go and said, "Sorry, I get overly emotional when it comes to that ward and what those kittens are going through."

Adonis placed his right index finger under her chin and lifted her head. He then said, "No problem, Nancy. Stop by my fiancée's room and talk to Razor about setting this up. See you soon." He took his paw back, grabbed the bags, and left the cafeteria.

Both Arlene and Nancy watched Adonis walk out of the cafeteria. Once he was out of earshot, Arlene said to Nancy, "They don't make toms like him anymore. He is such a sweetie, and what manners he has! His fiancée is one lucky she-cat to have caught that tom on her line. Now, if only my daughter would stop sleeping with every sausage-packing cat in this place and settle down."

Nancy turned and asked Arlene, "You know about your daughter?"

"Dearie, I'm her mother and work at the cafeteria counter in this hospital. There is not an ounce of gossip that I don't hear about," Arlene said.

Adonis walked through the halls of the hospital and finally made his way back up to the fifth floor. As he turned down the hall that led to Lisa's room, he heard the very distinctive sound of Lisa laughing hysterically, as well as the laughter of whom he could only assume was Callista. He continued walking down the hall, carrying the two bags in his paws, and when he reached the door to Lisa's room, he overheard Lisa say, "You should have seen him getting out of the pool, Callista. His hair was slicked back, the water made his fur stick to his body so everyone who wanted to could see every ounce of his hunky body, and then there was his bathing suit, that I just so happened to pick out for him. I never thought he would wear a speedo in public, but there he was, wearing a tiny swimsuit that left nothing to the imagination."

That was when Adonis stepped into the room, leaned against the doorframe, and crossed his legs. He said, "Didn't I ask you two not to get into any trouble while I was gone?"

"We weren't in any trouble, Adonis. We were just sitting here talking about the toms we are in love with," Lisa replied.

"Sure you weren't, Pirouette. So, how does how I look in a swimsuit fit into that conversation?" Adonis asked.

"You heard that?" Pirouette asked.

"Yes I did, my love. Hearing you talk like that is starting to make me think my angel has a devilish streak in her," Adonis said.

Pirouette pouted and then replied, "Can't I brag about my fiancé's fantastic body to my friends?"

"Do I tell my friends how incredibly sexy you look in tights?" Adonis answered with his own question.

"You had better not, Adonis! I don't need your friends leering at me and wondering what I look like without my clothes on," Pirouette said.

"I have some bad news for you then, Pirouette. Every one of my tom friends wanted to see you dance for them. Once they met you, that is. You are one hell of a sexy she-cat, and the only other two she-cats that might compare to you are Callie and Callista. Tina, Katerina, and Felina are good looking and turn tom's heads as they walk by, but you three make the toms, and some she-cats, forget their names when they see you. When all three of you went out for your afternoon of fun, Ulysses, T-Bone and I took bets to see which one of you three managed to get hit on the most! By the way, that bet has yet to be won, so which one of you three got hit on the most?" Adonis asked.

Both Callista and Lisa looked at each other, and then back to Adonis before Callista replied, "I hate to disappoint you, but no one made any passes at us that afternoon."

Adonis walked into the room and put the bags of food down on the rolling tray by Pirouette's bed before sitting down in a chair and pounding his right fist against the armrest. He then said, "Damn, Ulysses won the bet. Now T-Bone and I have to give him fifty bucks each."

"Ulysses is going to have to take me out for a night of dinner and dancing with the money he just made. I thank both you and T-Bone for my date tonight. Speaking of my date, I still have to get to my shop and open it up sometime soon so I can close early in order to get dressed to the nines for him. I can't wait until he sees me in that dress. You think I look good now? Wait until I put on the dress I bought. Ulysses is going to be tongue-tied when he sees me," Callista said.

"Razor should be here soon to relieve me, but if you have to go, Callista, I will meet Persival some other time," Adonis said.

"Nonsense. By the time we finish eating breakfast, Razor should be here so we can go to my old house and meet Persival and Isis. I also need to find the deed, so I can transfer it to Callie and Chance," Callista said as she made her way to Adonis' side and started unpacking the food he had bought.

"Alright Callista, you and I have a date. If my fiancée does not mind me being seen with another she-cat out in public?" Adonis asked.

"You have my permission to accompany Callista, Adonis I trust her to keep you in line," Pirouette said with a wink.

"Great! Can we eat now? I haven't eaten anything since last night, and I am really hungry," Adonis asked.

The dietician entered Pirouette's room and delivered her breakfast, then left without saying a word. They all started eating and discussing Callista's date as they ate.
