Be forewarned, towards the end of this, Callista's heart and conscious is tested. I really did not want to have her suffer the way I did. I love the way I wrote her. Cancer is a horrible disease. If you know someone who has it or has survived it, support them in their time of need.

Thank you my lovely Co-Author. MisaRae, this would not be without you.

Jake, Felina, Katerina, and Tina waited outside the diner for Callie to arrive. While they waited, Tina turned to Katerina and said, "Can you believe those two toms? They actually thought they could make me stop loving you. Like that would ever happen. The only cat I want is you, my love. Period. I certainly hope the state figures out that gay couples deserve the same right to marry as straight couples sometime soon. The more time I spend with you, the more I want to eventually call you my wife, or my husband, whichever you prefer."

Katerina wrapped her arms around Tina and kissed her. She then replied, "I feel the same way about you, Tina. If we were both ready and able to take that step, I would be happy to call you my wife." She kissed Tina again after proclaiming her love for her.

Callie appeared from around the corner, with Chance hobbling on his crutches right behind her. Callie saw her best friend and ran to her. Callie then caught Felina up in a fierce hug, which Felina returned in spades.

Felina closed her eyes and said, "You are the best friend a she-cat could ever have. I don't know what I would do if you were not in my life."

Callie replied, "I don't know what I would do if you weren't in my life either, Lina. Not only are you my best friend, but I love you like a sister!"

"I love you too, Callie. Imagine if we were sisters? Our parents wouldn't be able to keep up with all the trouble we would be causing!" Felina exclaimed.

Jake shook his head and said, "If you two were sisters, this city would be in real trouble!"

Felina lifted her head and turned it towards her fiancé. She then asked, "Why would you say that, Jake?"

"Between both of your good looks, and your.. let's call it 'zest for life', every tom in this city would either be bowing at both of your feet, or running in terror when they saw either of you," Jake replied in jest.

Callie laughed at Jake's reply, while Felina said, "And that is exactly how I want them. Either worshiping me and my equally beautiful sister, or fearing us!"

Callie stopped laughing as she heard Felina's reply to Jake and said, "I don't know, Lina. I prefer having the toms of this city bowing at our beauty rather than running away. We could have the pick of the litter! Both of us could have toms built like Mark on our arms doing whatever we tell them to!"

Chance whipped his head around to face his fiancée and asked, "Am I not big and strong enough for you?"

Callie backed out of her embrace with Felina and went to Chance's left side. She then lightly ran a finger over the fur on his left cheek as she replied, "You are, Chance. I meant what I said this morning; I have been in love with you since high school. However, Mark is just about every she-cat's walking dream come true. Every one of those romance novels I read portray the male lead as this six-foot-five-inch tom with long flowing hair, gorgeous eyes, a very muscular build, and above all else, a butt and tail that begs to be tamed. Mark matches that description to the letter. Lisa had better keep him on a short leash, because there are plenty of young, eligible she-cats out there that would want a piece of him, no matter what."

Chance was beginning to fall under the spell of Callie's gentle and loving touch. So much so, he let out a deep purr that everyone in the group heard, very clearly.

Felina walked over to her fiancé, grabbed him by the waist, and asked, "How come you don't purr like that for me?"

Jake replied, "I have never purred for any of my girlfriends, Lina. Then again, I don't think I have ever purred for anyone, period."

Felina leaned forward and whispered in Jake's ear, "I now have a new goal in life: getting you to purr by any means necessary." She then nibbled on his ear and ran her paw over his chest.

Callie cocked her hips and said, "And just when do you expect to be able to do that, Felina? Jake is watching over Lisa today, and you have the night shift. If Mark doesn't come back tonight, that is."

Felina stopped nibbling on Jake's ear long enough to say, "I'll find the time, Callie. I might have to drag him into a supply closet, but I am determined that by the end of the weekend, he will be purring like a kitten."

Tina turned to Felina and asked, "Do you really think you can make Jake purr? Even he said that he doesn't purr for anyone. What makes you think that you can make him purr?"

Felina grinned and replied, "I'm his fiancée. I know what he likes, and what he doesn't. Besides, he doesn't know what I can do with my mouth yet, but he will, very soon." She then licked her lips.

Jake instantly either pictured a very painful experience or a very pleasurable experience in his mind. He moved away from Felina and asked, "Felina, dear, I love you to death, but where exactly where you planning on placing your mouth?"

Felina developed a very mischievous grin on her face. She then leaned into him, whispered something into his ear, and pulled back when she was finished. Her tail swished back and forth while she waited for his reply.

Jake's mouth dropped open as Felina told him exactly what she was planning. He turned his head slowly to look at her, his eyes silently asking her if she could really do that.

Felina nodded in silent reply, which caused Jake to blush deeply in embarrassment.

Katerina figured it was time to rescue Jake from Felina before they got the idea to run off and find someplace to find out if Felina really could do what she was insinuating. She grabbed Jake by the collar of his shirt and pushed him towards the hospital's entrance. She said, "Jake, go relieve our friend. He has to be very tired by now, and in desperate need of rest."

Jake stumbled forward and said, "I'm going, I'm going." He started walking normally and said, "I will see you later, Felina. Behave yourself!" He then disappeared around a corner.

Felina cupped her paws to her mouth and yelled back, "I always behave, to a point!" She lowered her paws and turned to see Callie, Tina, and Katerina standing there looking at her with their paws poised on their hips and a stern look on their faces.

Felina held her paws up in the air and asked, "What?"

"You, Felina? Behave? Since when have you ever done a single thing that anyone asked of you without putting your own spin on it?" Callie asked.

Felina thought about it for a minute and finally replied, "I guess never. I couldn't even clean my parent's house without grabbing the gas-powered leaf blower and using it to dust."

Tina looked at Felina like she had grown a second head. She then asked, "You actually dusted your parent's house with a gas-powered leaf blower?!"

"It was a small one, Tina. It didn't too much damage. However, my father was not exactly thrilled with the way I did things around the house. Cleaning with a leaf blower was one thing, but using the power washer to do the dishes made both my parents furious," Felina replied.

"That sounds exactly like something you would do, Felina. I can almost see your parents' faces as they saw you with the power washer in your paws, aimed right at the fine china," Callie said.

"Callie, I'm not quite crazy enough to use the pressure washer on the fine china. However, the normal, everyday dishes had so much stuff caked on them, they needed a good scrubbing. The washer did an excellent job of getting those dishes clean, with very minimal casualties, I might add. Heck, I even loaded the soap dispenser with dish soap instead of the stuff that came with the washer," Felina happily replied.

Callie rolled her eyes and huffed at her best friend. She then said, "Felina, you never cease to amaze me with what you are capable of doing. I can't wait to see how your kitten behaves."

"I hope it takes after Jake. However, I wouldn't mind if it had a little of its mother's wild streak in it," Felina said.

"Just what this city needs, two of you running around, causing all sorts of trouble. How your Uncle puts up with you and your antics on the force, I will never know. But your wild side is one of the reasons I love being around you so much. Anyway, it's getting late and we need to go pick up Sarah," Callie said. She then latched her arm around Felina's and led her towards the parking garage where her car was currently housed.

Tina, Katerina, and Chance watched in awe at how well Callie handled Felina. Chance asked, "Do we follow them, or do we go back into the diner and wait for Felina to finish blowing up?"

"She would never 'blow up', as you said, at Callie. Felina loves her too much, and lets her get away with things that she would never let you or Jake get away with," Katerina said.

Tina said, "She is right, Chance. Friends as tight as they are can do almost anything to each other, and nothing ever comes of it. When I was a teenager, my so-called best friend set me up for a date with a tom after I told her I was gay. I went out with him in order to keep her happy. Well, he got a little too pawsy for my taste as the night went on. So after several protests from me, I let him have it! I punched him so hard in the family jewels that he instantly doubled over in pain. I went to my friend's house for a little comforting; instead, she told me that I should have slept with him so he could cure me. I really wanted to forgive her for saying that, but I couldn't. I slammed her door in her face and never spoke to her again. I didn't need to be cured, like I had the flu or something. I am very happy being who I am."

Katerina then said, "I am very happy you are who you are, and even more so that I have fallen in love with you. If you had never come into my life, I never would have realized that I could have an attraction to she-cats. You've opened both my eyes and my heart, love, and that's only one of the many reasons I adore you." She then kissed Tina for the first time in front of Chance.

Chance watched them kiss and then said, "I remember when you told me your lips were mine and mine alone, Katerina. Now you are dating another she-cat and are very much in love with her. You know I never meant to hurt you when you were incarcerated, but I had to tell you the truth. I could never tell a lie to you. I value our friendship too much to do that. Now, if I was a jerk, I could have let you have your way with me and still date Callie. However, I am not that type of tom. I am madly in love with Callie and no she-cat, no matter how hot she may be, is going to change it."

Tina replied, "Glad to hear it, Chance, because if you ever hurt her, my fiancée and I will hunt you down and mercilessly kill you!"

Katerina snapped her head around to face Tina and asked, "Tina, you just called me 'my fiancée'? Are you saying what I think you are saying?"

Tina could not believe what she had just accidentally said, although she meant every word. She took Katerina's paws in hers and said, "Katerina, being with you makes me happier than I have ever been. I never want this feeling to end. I love you so much that it hurts to be apart from you, even for a minute. I said I wanted to marry you when the time was right, and that time is now. I don't want to lose you, ever. You mean too much to me." She got down on one knee and asked, "Katerina Belikov, will you be my wife?"

Katerina's eyes started to water as she lifted Tina back onto her feet. Even through her tears, Katerina saw the way Tina's eyes clouded over and her expression fell, so Katerina quickly squeezed Tina's paws, both not letting her slip away and also to draw her attention. Once Tina had finally looked up at Katerina, Katerina replied: "Tina, I love you too. I don't want to be apart from you either, and yes, I want to marry you, too. I guess what I am saying is: I would love to be your wife!" She then leaned forward and kissed Tina.

Chance's eyes went wide. This was honestly the last thing he had expected to see. At first he was torn between the way he had been raised and wanting to be enthusiastic about his friends and partners-in-arms getting married. The former was quickly discarded, however, when he saw how happy they were together. He said, "Katerina, I was raised in a very strict household with traditional values. The one time they caught me in bed with my girlfriend, my parents almost disowned me. I was always told that marriage was between a tom and a she-cat, and any other type of relationship was not natural. Seeing you two together made me realize they were dead wrong. Marriage is about two cats who love each other the way that you two do, and the way Callie and I love each other. It has nothing to do with the gender of the cats involved." He hobbled over to the two of them, dropped his crutches and wrapped them both in a bear hug before he said, "I was never good at displaying my emotions in public. Hopefully, Callie can help me change that. I am so happy that you two are engaged, and are going to be starting your lives together. I only hope the rest of society can see how much you two love each other, and how much you both deserve to be married to each other."

Both Katerina and Tina returned his embrace as tears of joy fell from their eyes upon realizing that their lives were now one. Katerina turned her head towards Chance and said, "For years, I thought you were the one for me. Ever since I met Tina, I have found that I was mistaken. I have apparently taken a page from the book of my subordinates on the airship who were secretly dating each other. Relationships come in all shapes and sizes. It took me losing you to Callie in order to realize that. I have finally found the one cat that I was meant to be with, and I love her to no end." She kissed Tina again briefly before she turned back to Chance and said, "Hearing you say that you are happy for us has driven the final nail into the coffin containing Turmoil, the she-cat I was before. She is officially gone, and never will return. I am now Katerina Belikov, Enforcer Cadet, Havoc, the SWAT Kat, and most of all, Tina Cassidy's fiancée."

Callie and Felina picked that exact time to arrive with the car. Felina looked out the window and saw them all in an embrace with Chance's arm muscles bulging in his shirt from holding on so tight. She asked, "Did we miss something?"

Tina turned her head to Felina and said, "Only the best moment in my life so far. I asked Katerina to marry me, and she said yes!"

Felina couldn't get out of the car fast enough. She ran to them, joined in their embrace, and said, "I had a feeling that you two would end up like this. I am so happy for both of you. Just wait until Mark hears that his little sisters are engaged. Both he and Lisa are going to flip!"

Katerina lifted her head and asked, "Sisters? We are not related. How can we be his sisters?"

"It's a figure of speech, Katerina. What he meant was we are all so close to each other that we are like a family. No, I'm wrong. We ARE a family, Katerina. Every one of us cares for the other just as a family should. When one of us is down, there are six more who are more than ready to pick them up. We are going to have fun times together, as well as some sad times. Either way, we all will be here for each other. When my kitten is born, I am proudly going to introduce it to its uncles and aunts, and he or she is going to love all of you," Felina replied.

Callie got out of the car and joined them. She asked, "Mind if I have my fiancé back?"

Chance let go of Tina and Katerina, and retrieved his crutches with Felina's help. He hobbled over to Callie and put his left arm around her.

She kissed his left cheek, and then said, "That is much better." A smile a mile wide overtook her face, before she screamed, "You two are getting married! I am so happy for the both of you! Congratulations! We are going to take a side trip to Callista's shop and get you a pair of rings.. once we pick up Sarah, that is."

They all walked back to the car and proceeded to get in. Tina and Katerina were determined to sit next to each other, no matter what. Since Chance had his crutches, it only made sense for him to take the front seat next to Callie. That left Felina, Katerina, and Tina to sit in the back. Felina got in first, followed by Tina and then Katerina. Tina instantly laid her head on Katerina's left shoulder and put her paws in Katerina's lap. Tina let out a very content purr when Katerina's fingers interlaced with hers.

Callie put the car in gear and headed off to Sally's shop to pick up Sarah.

Callista walked down the hall of the hospital that led to Lisa's room. She got to Lisa's door and noticed that it was closed. She tried to open the door with her right paw, but found the door locked. She then cocked her hips and pointed her right index finger at the lock. A tiny spark left her finger and entered the lock, opening the mechanism. She then opened the door and entered Lisa's room. As she entered, she heard the very distinctive sounds of two cats kissing. She walked further into the room, and almost wished she had turned around earlier and left. She witnessed Adonis with his right leg in between Pirouette's legs, and his left one still on the floor, straddling her left leg. The top half of his uniform hung around his waist, showing off his very muscular back, and he was leaning forward with his arms on either side of her shoulders, supporting his weight so Pirouette's paws could caress his strong chest and back muscles as Adonis claimed her lips in a passionate kiss. Callista coughed to let them know she was there.

Adonis stopped kissing Pirouette and looked over his shoulder to see Callista waving at him. He instantly got off of Pirouette and tried to get his uniform back on his body before anyone else walked in on them.

Callista suppressed a bout of laughter as she watched Adonis try to quickly re-dress himself in such a tight uniform. However, she couldn't help but take in his masculine form, and how said uniform hugged every curve of his lower body, including the rather generous bulge between his legs. She thought, 'Lisa was not lying. Mark is a walking god! With that thing, he must have had she-cats lining up to sleep with him.' She finally said to break the tension in the room, "Relax, Adonis. I have seen it all before on toms with very similar bodies to yours, when I was younger, that is. Although, Pirouette is a very lucky she-cat. She gets to cuddle up to you every night for the rest of your lives."

Adonis and Pirouette's faces were flushed with embarrassment as Callista spoke.

Adonis had just finished getting his uniform on and zipped up, when Nancy slammed the door to Pirouette's room open. She took a few breaths and said, "Callista! I don't know what you did in there, but some of the kittens' recent blood tests came back with amazing results! Their red and white blood cell counts are through the roof! Supercharged antibodies are destroying the cancer cells, and new healthy tissue is growing rapidly in its place! Ten of the less sick kittens you saw today are going to survive!"

Callista's eyes started to tear up again when she heard the news from Nancy. She replied, "I didn't do anything, Nancy. Those kittens have the hearts of lions beating in their chests. All they needed was a tiny push in the right direction, and their bodies took over from there."

"Bull, Callista! The doctors and nurses have done everything they could, but the kittens have never responded to any treatment or attempt to cheer them up like this before! If you don't want to tell me what you did in there, that's fine. However, every one of those ten kittens and their families owe you their lives. Those ten kittens you saved had stage 2, bordering on stage 3, cancer. With the antibodies that are now in their systems, they should be able to be discharged and go home within a week or two. The doctors and lab techs are trying to synthesize whatever antibodies those kittens have now, so others can have the same chance at life that those kittens were given. Unfortunately, the others weren't so lucky. They all had stage 4 to 'N' stage cancer, and their tiny bodies have given up the fight. They originally had days left, but you gave them a few more weeks to live. Their parents and families are going to be grateful for that alone," Nancy said.

"Nancy, I am happy that those ten kittens are going to survive, and deeply saddened that I could not help the others. However, I had nothing to do with their recovery. If I did anything, maybe it was giving them a renewed sense of hope so they would fight harder than ever before," Callista replied.

Nancy stared at Callista, deadpan. She crossed her arms, and her tail was sticking straight out with its fur standing on end. She knew when she was being lied to, and Callista was putting on one of the better acts that she had ever seen. Nancy asked, "Why are you trying so hard to cover up whatever you did? You gave those kittens a second chance at life, Callista. You deserve every ounce of thanks that is coming to you. What you have managed to do is one hour is something that modern medicine cannot."

Adonis walked over to Callista and whispered into her right ear, "I'm not sure what you did down there, Callista, but I can only guess that you used your abilities to help those kittens. You have a heart that is bigger than this city, and those kittens and their families are going to want to thank you. Don't you want to see those poor sick kittens at least once more when they are healthy and happy? Not to mention how relieved their parents will be. I know I would. There is no shame in accepting credit where credit is due"

Callista turned her head to face Adonis, who nodded at her, trying to give her the confidence boost she needed. She then turned to Nancy and said, "Nancy, as much as I would like to reveal what I did, I cannot. Only my closest friends and family know, and if what I can do became public knowledge, those I love would be in danger. I am just so happy that I was able to help those kittens, and I am more than willing to come back and do it again. But I must remain anonymous. I can't have any attention drawn to me or my family. So, let's make a deal, Nancy. I come back here once every two weeks, escorted by one or more of the SWAT Kats and I perform my little magic act for those kittens, while you make sure that me and my escort are able to slip in and out of here without too much interference. Do we have a deal?"

Nancy let her guard down just a little bit and cocked her hip. She was torn between her ideal of not keeping secrets, and wanting to help those that modern medicine could not. She finally extended her paw and said, "You have a deal, Callista, but I want to know exactly what you did down there."

Callista bent slightly to the side and focused on Lisa, silently asking what she should do.

Lisa wanted her to do what she honestly knew Callista felt in her heart. For some reason, Lisa felt like she had known Callista for years instead of just a few days. Lisa replied, "Callista, you know what you need to do. Nurse Nancy will keep her word, right nurse?"

"I promise. I will make sure that you and your escort will be able to get in and out of there, just as you asked. Now, what hocus pocus did you pull down there?" Nancy asked.

Callista turned her head to Nancy and replied, "So, you really want to know what I did to those kittens? Watch and learn" She raised her right paw up so it was level with her face. Callista then said, "Watch carefully, Nancy." She then turned her head slightly to the right so she could see her paw directly in front of her face, and then quickly blew a puff of air across her paw, which caused her paw to be enveloped in a white flame.

Nancy was about ready to grab the pitcher of water from Lisa's end table and dump it over Callista's flaming paw, but then she realized that Callista's paw was not actually burning, and the flame encasing it came from Callista herself. Nancy backed away from Callista, knocking over a tray table in the process.

Callista extinguished her paw with another puff of air and slowly turned her head towards Nancy. Nancy now looked like a frightened kitten who had just seen a ghost. Callista smiled at Nancy and said, "Nancy, I am a very powerful sorceress. However, you have nothing to fear. Just ask Pirouette. She was just as apprehensive the first time she saw me do something like that."

Pirouette then said, "Nurse, she is telling the truth. Callista does not have an evil bone in her body. When I first found out what she could do, I latched onto my fiancé for dear life. Now, she is one of my better friends. You can trust her, I promise." She then held up her right paw like she was swearing before a court, but her stitches pulled again from the movement, so she winced and put her paw down.

Nancy relaxed just a hair and asked, "If this is true, what did you do to those kittens?"

"As I mentioned, I am a very powerful sorceress. When I held the paws of those kittens, I searched out for the cancer in their bodies. Once I was able to pinpoint the nucleus of the cancer, I used a healing spell on them, which gives their own antibodies a supercharged boost, enabling them to fight that horrible disease."

"That explains why the sicker kittens were not able to reap the benefits of the spell. Their immune systems are very weak, and their bodies just can't take it anymore. Even with your help, their bodies have already given up and are ready to shut down," Nancy said.

Callista did not want to hear that she had failed to help all of the kittens she had seen earlier. Even though she knew it was going to be an uphill battle, she still had to try and save their young lives. Her body suddenly went rigid as she said, "Then I am going to have to give them a bigger boost. I refuse to let them die when there is something I can do about it!"

Nancy went over to her and put her paw on Callista's shoulder. She said, "No, you can't do that. They have suffered long enough, and it is time for them to rest. I know it is painful; I have grown attached to so many of them, only to see the light die from their eyes before they are covered by a simple white sheet and wheeled down to the morgue in the dark to try and keep the other kittens from seeing. There are some that can't be saved, no matter how much you want to."

That was the last thing Callista wanted to hear. Her mind went completely blank, and she crumbled under the weight of her newfound knowledge. Her knees went weak, and she was forced to sit down on the floor. She gazed up at the harsh lights above, as if seeking an answer that she as a technical mere mortal could not answer. Her vision clouded, and she blinked fiercely, sending her tears cascading down her cheeks. "Why do they have to suffer?" she whispered. "Why was I given this power to help others when I cannot even save the life of a tiny kitten? Why?!" She punctuated her final cry by pounding the floor with her fist, relishing in the lance of pain that shot up through her arm.

Nancy got down on her knees and hugged Callista with all of her might.

Adonis crossed the room, dropping down to his knees before Callista in order to pick her up and rock her like one of the kittens she was so devastated that she couldn't help. He tried to hold himself together, but between his own exhaustion and Callista's obvious upset, tears leaked from the corners of his own eyes.

Callista wrapped her arms tightly around Adonis and cried into his shoulder, soaking his uniform with her tears. It took a few minutes, but she eventually calmed down enough to speak. "I need to get out of here, Adonis. Care to accompany me to go see Persival? I need him now, more than ever."

Adonis wiped the tears from her eyes with a swipe of his paw, then smiled at her and replied, "Alright, but Razor is not here yet. I don't want to leave Pirouette unprotected."

Nancy got up from the floor and said, "I will stay with her until Razor arrives. I have a black belt in karate, so I know how to take care of myself."

"Alright, Nancy. Pirouette is in your capable paws," Adonis said. He went over to Pirouette and kissed her before saying, "I love you. I will see you tonight."

"I love you, too. Please take care of my friend," Pirouette said.

"You know I will, Pirouette," Adonis replied, then lowered her to the floor and offered her his arm before he asked, "Shall we?"

Callista very lightly smiled and took his arm in hers. She then said, "She then said, "Indeed, my knight in shining.. er.. skin-tight armor." Then they quickly vanished from sight, leaving Nancy and Pirouette alone in the room.

Nancy turned to Pirouette and asked, "Did she just flirt with your fiancé right in front of you?"

Pirouette knew that Callista had just been teasing and replied, "No, Callista was just being herself. She may be an adult, but she sometimes acts like a kitten, herself, and after the morning she has had so far, I think she deserves to have a little fun."
