Chapter 58: New Faces

Draco frowned as he met his cousin for the first time. The cousin who was supposed to teach him how to use his powers. Powers he did not want.

Yes, in the past he thought it might be cool to become a metamorph until…well, until he became one overnight and wasn't the cool sort of metamorph Dora was.

Her real name was Nymphadora a name that she seemingly despised. She said usually people referred to her as Tonks, but well…that would be confusing for him seeing how his aunt and uncle were both Tonks.

He didn't know how she was supposed to help considering her abilities were different than his, but his aunt and his father seemed to think otherwise.

The only reason he was even here was so he could get his potion readjusted. The itching had started again and he had woken up one night and saw that his chest had shifted overnight. It was clear that he his chest was starting to develop in his other form. It had taken a bit of effort, but eventually they had receded and looked normal again.

Normal for now.

He hadn't mentioned that to Aunt Andromeda even though he knew it was a sign of what she had told him the other day. There was no stopping this.

He grimaced knowing the only thing he could do was to be able to control shifting and it wasn't something he even felt comfortable about doing. Hell, he hadn't really felt comfortable talking to the mind healer about it the other week, but finally made himself since after the night he randomly had breasts pop out of nowhere he figured he had to tell someone before it got worse.

"I'm not me when it happens," He told Gunther. "It feels so wrong. I feel like it's not my body."

"But it is your body," Gunther said.

"I'm not a girl," Draco said with a sigh.

"No, you're not." Gunther said, "But a part of your body biologically at least is female."

"Aunt Andi says the terms intersex." He said grimacing. "An intersex metamorph. I'm a fucking freak of nature."

"Don't call yourself that," Gunther said. "You can't change your biology, Draco. It's just a part of who you are."

"But it's not," He said. "It's not me. Had I not…"

"Do you regret the blood adoption?" The healer asked.

Draco shook his head. He didn't but… "I had no choice. Lucius would've…"

But a part of him did regret it. Regretted every day that he was no longer Draco Malfoy, even though he knew there was no going back. This was who he was not, what he was, a freak.

"You're only going to get control if you practice," Dora told him gently. "I know it's hard."

"You have no idea. How would you feel if you woke up with a dick?"

She grimaced, "Probably horrified. Though I've had to change some of my body parts occasionally for assignments and yes it can be disorienting to say the least."

He knew she used to work as an auror but had abruptly quit after Sirius had been released from custody. Apparently, she seemed to have been broken of idealism then.

Fool.

No wonder she was in Hufflepuff.

Speaking of Hufflepuff, he had been surprised that Granger had been sorted there. Or the girl that he assumed to be Granger. He hadn't exactly been overly friendly to Jane Lupin. He had been dealing with too much shit and quite honestly he didn't want the possibility of stirring up shit in his house where he was pretty sure his reputation hung by a thread. Merlin help him if they ever figured out his secret…

He wanted to talk to her though. Usually, he just had to make do with explaining theory to him in Transfiguration class and she didn't seem interested in him in the slightest. Probably because she had at least a foot over him now. And Merlin knows she probably wouldn't be interested if she knew he had his own tits.

Dora looked at him, "You're afraid about getting stuck aren't you?"

He nodded.

"Mum told me as much," She said with a sigh as she pulled something out of her pockets. Of course, she was wearing muggle jeans. He knew he should've been used to seeing muggle clothing now since everyone in his blasted family—even Mother—had been wearing it as of late, but he still could sneer. Though admittedly, he'd much rather be in a pair of jeans if he had to be in his other form than a pair of girl robes.

She handed him a bracelet of all things. He raised an eyebrow noting the Black family crest on the object.

"I'm not one for jewelry," He said. "I don't know if your mum told you but I don't identify with the other form."

She rolled her eyes. "I'm aware. Though men can wear jewelry and you might be prone to wearing this. It's an illusion bracelet. Been in the family for generations to people with the metamorph quirk. It will allow you to project your preferred form for everyone to see even if your…well, stuck."

He looked at the bracelet and grabbed it. "It works?"

She nodded. "Trust me, it works. Otherwise, there's be no way I could've gotten through Hogwarts without violating dress code. I had and sometimes still have issues controlling my hair, you see."

"How did you…"

He was going to ask how she got it when she and Aunt Andi had been excommunicated from the family.

"Not, everyone in the family totally disowned us," she said.

He frowned but grabbed the bracelet and put it on, as soon as it was put on he couldn't even see it.

Dora smirked, "Did I mention no one can see it? So you don't even have to worry about people questioning your interest in jewelry. So, do you think you can try to let me see your other form?"

He sighed heavily. "I…I guess. How do I go about doing that?"

"It's a bit like occlumency," His cousin said. "Though rather than controlling your thoughts you think about controlling your form. Take off the bracelet though for now, so I can see if you can change."

He nodded grimacing as he allowed his body to do what it had been wanting to do all day.

He felt his form slowly shift and shrink until he was her. He didn't even have to open his eyes to know he had done it, though Dora was smiling when he did.

"Good job," She said.

He shook his head annoyed to see that his hair had lengthened a bit when he had transformed. Which was ridiculous. Girls could have short hair which he proceeded to tell Dora only to find out his voice had changed as well.

It was back to the way it was that morning when he first woke up. Other things were similar as well. The unpleasant feeling that he was missing something in his trousers and then his chest. He felt them again. He looked down to see that mercifully they weren't that much bigger, but…there was sure something there now especially with the way he was sticking out.

He felt himself blush he didn't…he then felt his body changing and before he knew it he was back to himself. Well, the self he knew these days. As soon as he changed he grabbed the bracelet and slapped it on his wrist. "No more today." He told Dora.

She nodded as she put his hand on his shoulder. "You did a good job today, kid."

He shook his head. All he wanted to do was cry.

She frowned of all the things she thought she'd be doing today it wouldn't include buying a training bra for her son. Yet, according to Nymphadora, Draco was in desperate need of one when he was in his altered state.

"I didn't think he was that developed," She said though she hadn't exactly seen him in his other form.

"He wasn't," Andi said who came to join her on the rather awkward shopping tip. "At least the last time I saw him, though I'm not surprised. We have had to increase the dosage of the potion because he's for better or less started going through puberty. It won't work much longer. That's why I told her to bring the illusion bracelet."

"He's not going to have any control of when it happens. Will he?" She asked.

Andi sighed. "Maybe. Eventually. But no, not anytime soon. And once the potion stops working he could shift at any time. With him starting to develop, I don't expect it to last much longer."

"Does he…" She didn't know how to ask if her son would know about how to handle certain aspects of his form's journey into womanhood.

"I tried to explain things best I could and gave him a book," Andi said.

"He probably hasn't read it," She said knowing Draco unlike Harry did not care to read things which was one of the reasons he had so many issues with dealing with Cissy when she changed.

"Well, I'm sure he'll have questions when the time comes." Andi grimaced as she looked at the bras Bella was holding. "You might want to get a couple of sizes who knows how quickly he'll develop."

She grimaced as she looked for the plainest option she could find hearing her belly rumble. She smiled at the fact she was actually hungry for the first time in months. Her waist had started to thicken for real. It hadn't become apparent enough to use glamor spells or a magical belly band, but she wasn't as thin as she had been a couple of weeks ago and today she couldn't button a pair of her jeans for the first time. It was weird how thrilled she was about that development.

"You're hungry," Andromeda said hearing her stomach. "The potions seem to help. I notice you're not in your skinny jeans today."

Bella nodded even though she hated taking them despite reassurances from both Siri and Andi that it wouldn't hurt her babies. However, she was getting food besides toast down now and was gaining much needed weight.

"How was Harry's lesson?"

"Talented as usual," She said rolling her eyes. "The boy is certainly a Ravenclaw. I can't believe he's doing third year work.

Both Bella and Sirius were extremely proud of his placement exams. It was quite amazing really even if that bastard Snape claimed that Harry cheated.

She really wanted to kill that son of a bitch.

Harry's head of house though had been quite excited about it as well. She really did like Filius. It was a shame she could never study dueling with him like she had wanted. He had really been quite accommodating with Harry's issues.

Severus Snape though not so much. Sirius and him had been fighting non-stop about Draco and lord knows what the man would do to her adopted son now if he found him in his current form.

"I'm hoping Nymphadora will be receptive to teaching the boys defense." She said, "Sirius and I do not think that Gil's class is a use of either of their talents."

"I still can't believe he had you calling him Gil."

She shrugged, "I am his lilac eyed princess after all."

"I still can't believe he slept with a woman."

"I'm a veela and I think he swings both ways. Well, really, I think he swings for himself. He's terrible in bed."

"That is more than I needed to hear," Andromeda said with an eyeroll. "His classes are really that bad?"

"Apparently, he let pixies out during the first day of the second year Gryffindor class and hid. One of the students had to get Sirius to intervene."

"I bet that was a treat."

"Siri didn't seem impressed." She said, "That's another reason why I want to recruit your daughter. The faster we find qualified tutors, the faster both boys are out of that hell hole of a school."

"It's such a dumpster fire."

"Dumpster fire?"

"It's a muggle expression, sister dear."

"How was your Potions class?" Hermione asked Harry when he arrived at their table at the library that afternoon. They had taken up studying together in the afternoons him, Sue, and sometimes even Cedric would come help them.

"More useful than yours," he said.

He had no idea. Snape seemed to hate Jane Lupin with and treated her much like he treated Harry last year except maybe even worse. He had taken fifty points off of her the other day for apparently cutting her potion ingredients the wrong way. Of course, Professor Sprout restored them as did a lot of the professors did these days. Apparently, Sirius's attitude toward Snape's antics had worn off on both Flitwick and Sprout who both seemed to despise him and were now counteracting point losses with all their students.

"That bad?" He asked.

She sighed heavily, "He vanished my strengthing solution mid-class just because it wasn't the right shade of turquoise. Meanwhile Longbottom's was blood red and he let him continue. I'm just glad he didn't partner me with him this time around."

"Of course he did," Harry said rolling his eyes. "Hopefully Longbottom's cauldron didn't cause him to lose his eyebrows again."

She shook her head. "No, mercifully. The potion just turned his cauldron into a pile of goop though somehow it was my fault and I got a detention over it since I should've been a good partner. Even though everyone was brewing individually. What were you making in your class?"

"Wiggenwald." Harry said.

"I bet you like that," She said knowing Harry wanted to be a healer like his dad and aunts. "We're supposedly doing the pepper up potion at the beginning of next month."

He nodded knowing that was a standard second year brew though he'd thought it would be brewed later int he year due to its volatile nature. "You better handle that brew. Knowing Longbottom he'll probably screw up something with the imp powder and both you won't have eyebrows.

"Noted," She said. "I usually try not to have him brew anyway, but Snape sometimes makes him. I still don't know why he paired me with that imbecile."

"Because he's Snape," Harry said. "You really should talk to your parents about pulling you out of that class."

"I have. It's just difficult with the lawsuit. My medical records are really be scrutinized so me having issues with potion fumes suddenly would likely be brought up by the lawyers."

The boy nodded as he reached in his bag. "I'm surprised Susan and Diggory aren't around."

"Cedric has class," She said feeling herself blush as she usually did when she mentioned the handsome fourth year Hufflepuff these days. "And Susan is having her usual weekly floo call with her aunt. It's just you and me."

"Good," He said. "I can give you this then."

She gave him a weird look as he pulled a box out of his pocket.

"What…"

"It's your birthday today, isn't it?" He asked.

She nodded, "My old birthday. I…well.."

"I know Jane was born in August." He said. "Still, though I thought you deserved to be celebrated today. Open it up?"

She gasped when she saw a small pendant of a wolf with sapphire eyes. "A wolf?"

"I wanted to get you something with sapphires since it's well…your old birth stone and when I saw this Dad said I had to get it. He said it's fitting for you considering your Moony's daughter."

She blushed. "I…I love it Harry."

"Need help putting it on."

She nodded as he put it on her neck, she was not planning on taking it off and was going to tell Harry that, but their moment was interrupted by Susan of all people.

"Harry," she said smiling. "I thought you weren't coming in for the day?"

"I told Jane I'd say hello when I got back," He said. "And I have Astronomy later tonight. I'm actually supposed to meet with my partner in a bit to work on our project on Jupiter's moons."

"Ah, that's right. I forgot you had that class tonight. With Slytherin right?"

He nodded. "Yep. Good call with your auntie?"

She nodded, "Indeed. She was taking a breather from the Weasley case. She hardly dropped any f bombs. That's usually a good sign."

Hermione felt herself pale. "Have they…"

"Verdict still hasn't been reached," Susan said knowing what Hermione was asking. "They only went into deliberation today."

"Should be an open shut case," Harry said. "With what he did to that poor girl."

"Indeed," Susan said as a small blonde figure approached their table.

It was Daphne Greengrass of all people, aka the supposed ice queen of Slytherin. The only girl that could possibly give Susan a run for her money in their year. Though she guessed now she supposedly could give them both a run for their money.

Daphne looked like a perfect English rose. A young Grace Kelly. She may not have been as developed as Susan or herself yet, but it was obvious that she was well on her way to becoming a stunner.

"Black," The girl said. "I see you're at least punctual."

"I'm early actually." He said.

"Daphne's your Astronomy partner?" Susan asked.

He nodded looking at Daphne he said, "I reserved us a room."

"And he thinks ahead…" The girl said, "Impressive."

Susan shook her head as they left for the other side of the library. "I can't believe the ice queen of Slytherin scooped him up from you."

"What are you talking about?" Hermione said as she got out her History of Magic text. It was the only other subject she was stuck in the first year on besides Transfiguration. Honestly, she could care less about it. It was quite a useless subject.

"Black and you," She said, "I can't believe you're letting Greengrass steal your boyfriend."

Hermione about spit out the water she had been drinking, "Henry is hardly my boyfriend, Sue."

"He isn't?" She said the girl seemed to perk up a little. "Did he give you that necklace?"

She blushed, "It's just a birthday gift. Our families know each other so he…"

"He knows." She said, "That still doesn't answer the question are you interested in him?"

Was Susan interested in Harry?

Seriously?

Though she wasn't surprised he was by far the best looking boy in the second year, but…

"He's just a friend," She finally said. "I don't think Henry's into that kind of thing yet."

Though she thought maybe when he gave her that necklace. No, that was ridiculous. He couldn't be interested in her…even if she was interested in him.

Susan raised an eyebrow.

"He just turned twelve, Sue."

"Well, if you're not interested…"

"Jane, there you are." Cedric said pretty much ending the conversation between her and Susan for now.

"It seems like I pissed off your girlfriends, Black." Daphne Greengrass told him after they had went to the room he reserved for the two of them to work in.

"I think they were surprised that you're my partner that's all." He said to the blonde Slytherin.

Hell, he was even surprised she asked him to be partners in Astronomy class, but he wasn't complaining. It was definitely better than working with Draco and he really didn't know many people in his class or house since he commuted here. Besides, he liked Daphne. She might've had a little brusque, but you got used to it after a while. And when you did she was sort of hilarious.

She rolled her cornflower blue eyes. They were the same color as the sapphires in the pendent he had gotten Hermione. "I'm sure. I found my sources. Did you?"

He nodded, "I did. Though it's a shame we can't use muggle sources. They actually had some high-quality photos of some of the moons from the probes they sent up in space."

"Probes?"

"Ah, yes, I forget you're a pureblood."

She laughed, "How can you forget I'm a pureblood, Black. I'm a member of the Sacred Twenty-Eight just like you. My father is even technically an earl."

"I grew up on the continent," He reminded her.

"I forget. Your accent makes you sound like you're here."

"Well, obviously I'm a UK citizen that's why I'm attending classes here."

"Ugh, I hate those laws too." Daphne said as she handed him the sources she found. "Daddy did not vote for them."

"I imagine a lot of sane people didn't vote for them. Unfortunately, the government fucked around and we're finding out." He said, "Interesting, I never knew Galileo was a wizard makes sense though."

"He's known in the muggle world?" Daphne said, "Was he involved with one of those probe things?"

"The probe things are only a recent thing." Harry said, "But he was a famous muggle astronomer. This is fascinating."

"You are such a Ravenclaw, Black. If you do have those photos that the probe thing took I would like to see them"

"Really?" He said shocked because most purebloods weren't into muggle science at all.

"I may have a little Ravenclaw in me too," She said with a small smile.

She didn't know why she found Henry Black fascinating.

Maybe because he wasn't as arrogant as most of the good-looking boys in the school. Not that there were many good looking ones. At least in her year.

Tracey still was flabbergasted that she had chosen Potter for her partner in Astronomy this year. She didn't see why not? Tracey wanted to pair up with Blaise and there was no way she was going to partner with Roper, Moon, Nott, Buldstorde, or Parkinson, or Dumb and Dumber (Crabbe and Goyle). And honestly, it was hard for her to rationalize that Draco Black had been Draco Malfoy, and she wouldn't want to be partners with that brat anyway if she could get past the weirdness.

Most of Ravenclaw—who they shared the class with was droll and then there was Black who was fascinating. Plus, he was a Black and she knew they were always forced to learn about the stars very early on. Though, she guessed he wasn't a typical Black since he knew about muggle things oddly enough.

Yes, he was an oddity. An oddity that weirdly excited her. She wondered…but quickly brushed aside the thought.

She admitted he was nice looking too and he didn't stare at her like a lot of boys did. At first, she wondered if he was gay, but he noticed that he would occasionally glance at Bones and that new girl Jane Lupin.

It annoyed her that he didn't look at her that way, but she tried not to act like it. After all, she usually complained that most of the boys stared at her too much.

"What's eating you?" Tracey said seeing her look annoyed at the thought of Black flirting with Lupin.

"Nothing out of the ordinary," she said.

Tracey raised an eyebrow, but Daphne was honestly closer to her paternal cousin than she was with her own sister. Probably because they were more or less raised as twins after Tracey's parents were killed.

Her Uncle Othello had made the mortal error of being married to Tracey's mother whose blood history wasn't exactly pure. Not that the Davis's were either. They were just enough generations out where it wasn't as apparent unless you knew about it. Poor Tracey still had to deal with assholes in their own house even though she wasn't near as genetically effected by it as Daphne was.

Honestly, she was surprised her cousin was sorted into Slytherin and it was the main reason she pushed the hat to put her here. She didn't want to leave Tracey alone amongst the snakes.

"Parkinson or Malfoy?" She asked.

"You meant Black," Daphne corrected. "Draco Malfoy ceased to exist last year, remember?"

Tracey rolled her eyes. She had Davis eyes. Daphne had them too. In fact, she was told she was a dead ringer for her mother while Astoria had taken more after Father's side.

"How could I forget…" Tracey said, "He went from being one of the best looking boys in our house to…"

"He's not bad looking," Daphne said even though she knew what Tracey meant. Draco Malfoy had gone from being arguably one of the most handsome boy in their year to looking like a little boy. He was almost smaller than Harry Potter had been his first and only year at the school.

She frowned thinking about Potter and how he died. The whole thing was a tragedy. She still remembered being horrified when she read what his relatives had done to him. How outraged her parents had been about the entire thing. She knew Daddy had talked about getting better child welfare laws passed, but instead this legislative session the stupid Wizengamot focused on that stupid education act.

"He's tiny," She said. "You're even taller than him."

Daphne blushed. She was ridiculously short and underdeveloped as was Tracey. However, Tracey at least had some height on her. It would help if Mama would let her wear heels already, but she was told she was too young for that. For Merlin's sake she was going to be thirteen in February.

"I know," She said. "But it's not like he's bad looking. He's a member of the Black family, Trace. And Professor Black is his father."

She saw her cousin blushing as did most of the girls and some of the boys when it came to Professor Black. Save for the Gryffindors, his own house hated him and thought he was still a murderer which was ridiculous.

Even Mama blushed a little bit when she found out that Sirius Black was going to be teaching them Transfiguration.

Apparently, she had a thing for him back in the day before she met Father. She could sort of see why. He was the best looking teacher in the school, even though she knew a lot of her fellow classmates preferred Professor Peacock.

Lord, was Lockhart annoying. She really wondered how he got the required mastery for the subject matter.

"But he's no Henry." Tracey said.

Daphne rolled her eyes. "Seriously, you too?"

"And yet you chose him as your partner…" Tracey said.

"Because he does not stare at me like I'm a piece of meat," She said. "And he's smart. And nice."

Tracey raised one of her eyebrows. "Right. You didn't say two words to him before you picked him as your partner."

"Well, who else was there to pick? You had to be partners with Blaise."

It was Tracey's turn to blush before she said, "He even got you interested in reading about muggle space things."

"It's for school," Daphne blushed even though she was very interested in muggles going to space. She had an odd affinity for the stars and planets. Seeing the photos of the moons that muggle probe had taken fascinated her. She wondered why wizards haven't taken the time to develop a way to see the planets and the stars. Especially since they were so important to many different aspects of magic. "Besides, he likes the more developed girls in our year. You should see the way he was staring at Lupin the other day."

Tracey rolled her eyes. "Are you jealous of a girl that is still in first year Transfiguration?

"Hardly," Daphne said rolling her eyes. Though she didn't know if she was more annoyed with Susan Bones or Lupin. Probably Lupin. He seemed oddly fascinated with her. Not that she cared. She didn't. "I'm not interested in Henry Black, Tracey. At all."

Tracey just raised an eyebrow.
