A Japanese Weresheep in Mutsuba Town
Author's Note: Time for a new pairing! Enjoy the story and R&R.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything related to or of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH! series.
Pairing: Developing Yuhi x Chupataro.
Summary:
There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.
Chapter 134: Parentage
Having both Yagi-san and Maki-san on UTS' payroll, Yuhi and Yuamu never went hungry (Yuamu's hostage-taking of Yuhi's snacks aside).
Having no kitchen or even a stove in his apartment, Chupataro mostly purchased his meals ready-made and/or reheated them in the microwave, despite the culinary competency he picked up from his grandfather, who had a background in the food preparation sector.
Chupacabras aren't choosy when it comes to the doneness of their food. Biting into live livestock and feasting on animals raw was the norm. Chupataro loved his meat grilled, but he'd just as soon devour a chicken whole as eat cuts off a stick.
London knew this, having been hogtied and emptied of his blood while collecting Manya's sushi order.
Yuhi knew this (before Resurrection of the Dead erased his memories), from the times Chupataro sucked his blood out through his neck, either without advance warning or at his own bequest.
For those in need of a refresher: Chupataro said he'd "chu-chu and chupa everyone in the studio" if MIK made any moves to obstruct his Rush Duel with Yudias.
Bloodsucker.
Monster.
Liar.
"Chupataro! Snap out of it!"
"Yuhi…"
"You've changed lots! You're in this Duel so I don't hafta be, aren't ya? The old you would've never done that for me!"
He was still a chupacabra. Just not that same chupacabra he was back then, whatever the Dark Meister said.
She didn't have much to say nowadays. She got her wish. Otes was here. It just wasn't her in the mask as she'd intended.
She was hit with a big, fat "Okay, now what?" Karaoke and ramen with all the Otes candidates?
It's always the ones with the loftiest ideals who bring the greatest misfortune to their families.
Yuga did, to his ancestors and upon himself.
Yuamu did, losing her brother in her race to lose herself.
Talk about the finger curling on the monkey's paw!
For good or for bad, the story of the Ohdo family is a story of unintended consequences.
When Yuga originally created Rush Duels, he didn't foresee a time-spanning struggle for the future of every child, past and future. He definitely didn't mean for Rush Duels to be used as weapons, like Zuwijo initially envisioned them.
It was that day at MCV, wasn't it? When Chupataro unintentionally combined his soul and DNA with Yuhi's soul and DNA to give Yuhi's Earthdama the autonomy it had today.
Yuhi's Earthdama sickness shared similar symptoms to another type of sickness humans experience: morning sickness. The type mothers and sympathetic fathers suffer.
Chupataro followed Zuwijo's direction and harnessed the Earthdama's power to meet the real Meeeg-chan.
He met her, only to say goodbye. But it was by saying goodbye to Meeeg-chan that he said hello to the next chapter in his life.
Being the Chupa that Yuhi believed he could be.
Being a papa to Damamu. The papa his neglectful papa never was for him!
His parents wanted nothing to do with the black sheep in the family. They abandoned their son, even before his run-ins with MIK. He was so alone, he had to form an attachment to a fictional magical sheep girl, just to have someone on Earth who'd fight for him.
Battle Phase after Battle Phase.
Pining for someone who isn't real…until her battles alongside him guided him to the Ohdos. Guided him to Yuhi.
Potty emergency averted, Yuhi and Chupataro pulled a floating, sleep-talking Damamu down between them on the floor of Chupataro's apartment. Mama, papa, and child.
Chupataro and Yuhi were already better parents.
"Yay! The Hamburg steak is almost ready!"
"Yay!"
"Don't float so close to the microwave, chupa! You might get burned, chupa!"
"Waah? But I wanna watch it spin!"
"Me too!"
DING!
"If you two don't pipe down, you're not getting banana for dessert, cabra!"
"Gyaa! Banana!"
"Banana! Banana!"
Speaking of monkey's paws…Chupataro was monkeying around with Acrobat Monkeys.
"Banyanya! Banyanya!" The Damamus were bananas for the bananas Chupataro was jokingly keeping from them.
Chupapapapapapabra! Just what he needed. More "nyas" and the recurrence of Manabu's awful interrogation techniques.
"Then…This isn't an interstellar kriminal to be captured! Can't be…can't be…can't be…CAN'T BE CAT-TURED, NYA!"
Chupataro let the Damamus have the bananas after they finished their mains. That is what a good parent does.
As for himself, he ripped the top off the last vacuum-packed bag of AJ-san & Sean-san Hamburg steak, and microwaved the third patty therein.
Pre-Goha, a three-pack of the packaged meat from the market cost 200 yen. Luckily, he'd stocked up on packs prior to the price bump, though at one year from manufacture in frozen storage, their printed expiry was but a fraction of the deceased Velgearians' lifespans.
His was the last pack he'd taken out to defrost, though not the last pack in the freezer next to the refrigerator where he stored Yuhi's blood.
One thing that could be noted about Yuhi's absence: He wasn't there to nag Chupataro when he secured the Hamburg steak using the claws on all of his limbs.
The Damamus attempted to copy him, and he griped they shouldn't inherit his bad habits. Especially not with shoes on, since who wants germs and the smell of feet on their food?
Maybe Chupataro should take comfort those weren't real shoes the Damamus were wearing, and merely Damamu's native liquid shaped to resemble shoes.
"O-K! Can I get an extra banana~?"
"Banana!"
Chupataro was parenting solo. But only in the meantime.
Don't say goodbye!
Screw Otes. Screw Yuga's future.
Screw what Yuamu or Yuna or anyone else obsessed with becoming a historic Duel loser wanted.
Don't say goodbye!
He'd get Yuhi back.
He was over passively accepting Yuhi was gone.
Scary stuff, scary stuff, fly away!
If Resurrection of the Dead was a spell to free a demon – be it Otes or Goha Yuga – this was a spell to chase the nightmares away.
Smile!
And since when had smiles ever led the world to destruction?
Kuaidul knew this.
