Third Person POV
One bright summer day, Jeanette was outside in her backyard, enjoying a breath of fresh air. She had already watered the grass, trees, and flowers, and she was killing time by admiring her beautiful surroundings. "Dad was right," she told herself with a grin, "This really is the best spot in the whole country! I'm glad I moved from a city, after all!" She looked off in the distance, and spotted a mother white-tailed deer with her fawn eating grass in the meadow.
"How cute!" Jeanette said to herself, "It's just like Bambi and his mama!" She happily grinned as she decided to go over by some trees to pick up pinecones that were lying about. "Oh, I wish I could visit Bambi's forest, and make friends with all the cute little animals!" Jeanette smiled as she walked along. But as she was walking, Jeanette so busy thinking about her favorite Disney movie Bambi; and she didn't pay attention to where she was going. Suddenly, the girl tripped over on a big rock, and then tumbled down the hill!
Jeanette screamed with fear as she tumbled down, "AAAGGHH! Somebody, help me!"
But nobody was around to hear her cries for help, so she just kept tumbling down until she landed on a soft patch of grass at the bottom of the hill.
Jeanette's POV
I moaned and groaned as I tried to get up after falling down that hill. "God, I hope I didn't fracture anything!" I groaned as I tried getting up. I rolled over and got my hands to the ground, but when I looked down, I saw that my hands were not human hands, but furry black paws!
I gasped and cried, "What the heck has happened?" I tried standing up, but somehow, I stayed on all four limbs, so I ran like a quadruped, trying to find some kind of reflection. Eventually, I came to a little puddle of water, and then looked at my reflection. It wasn't a very clear view, but I made out a fox's face with fur the same color as my chestnut red hair, a white underbelly, black markings on my feet, and a long tail. After staring at my new image in the water for a few seconds, I let out a big scream of agony!
All the birds flew away from their trees at the effect of my scream, and then I flopped down and asked myself, "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?! I'M A FOX! I'M A FOX! How am I gonna explain this to my parents?!"
Suddenly, I saw the image of a large deer buck prancing towards me. I gasped as the deer came closer and closer. Was he going to gauge me with his massive antlers? But as he stopped in front of me, I saw that his antlers were still covered in velvet, so I shouldn't worry.
"What's the matter, little fox?" the deer buck asked me in a deep, male voice.
Hearing that voice made me look at him with wonder. Where had I last heard a voice like that in a deer?
The buck looked at me with sternness and asked, "Well? I heard someone screaming, and I saw you shivering. Are you in danger? Is Man nearby?"
I nervously looked up at the buck and shook my head. "N-n-no, sir," I said, "I see no man anywhere. I just…" I didn't want to scare the deer by telling him I was a human girl who magically transformed into a fox, so I stammered to come up with something. Finally, I said, "I-I am lost, and I-I-I don't know my way around."
The buck's expression turned to concern as he looked at me and said, "Well, I have a recent mate who has born a fawn in a thicket deep in the forest. You may stay with her and the fawn until you are ready to go off on your own. I'd better get going, for I have important duties of keeping the forest safe!" And with that, the buck sprang away behind me.
As I watched the magnificent animal spring off, I put the puzzle pieces together in my mind. "Keeping the… forest… safe," I wondered out loud, "A mate… a fawn…"
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard birds chirping, and animals running into the woods. Then, I smiled and exclaimed, "That's it! I've been transported to the world of Bambi!"
I decided to follow the animals, because I knew something had happened in a thicket, and that's where the big buck wanted me to go. As I ran past a big tree, I noticed a little gray bunny rabbit thumping his foot against the bark as he playfully yelled, "Wake up! Wake up!"
An old owl was sleeping in a hollow part of the tree and yawned with annoyance, "Oh, what now?"
"WAKE UP, FRIEND OWL!" the little bunny yelled as he thumped his foot some more.
"Hey, what's going on there?" Friend Owl asked the rabbit with annoyance.
"Wake up!" repeated the bunny.
Some cream-colored bunnies arrived and said, "It's happened! It's happened!"
"A new prince is born!" added the gray bunny.
"We're going to see him!" said the cream-colored bunnies.
"Come on!" the gray bunny insisted as he hopped away, "You'd better hurry up!"
I smiled to myself as I ran to join the other animals so that I could see the "new prince".
