Planet Mon-20th Century

A fleet of ships approached the Insane home world carrying the mighty Darkseid. As the fleet entered the planet's atmosphere, fighters from all over the galaxy exited the ships and started patrolling the area. The Insane looked upon the ships with wonder and trepidation.

"The great Darkseid has arrived, your majesty," a servant informed King Mon.

"Yeah, no shit," King Mon said seeing the ships fly past the windows of his palace.

As Darkseid's ship landed in the square, the Female Furies made their presence known. King Mon, Queen Rhea, and their entourage of best Insane warriors came out to greet Darkseid. The doors of the ship opened and Darkseid stepped out wearing his black armor. His eyes were a demonic red.

"It's been a long time, King Mon," he said in a low baritone voice.

"It's an honor to have you here," King Mon replied with false sincerity.

"I think you will find the pleasure is all mine," Darkseid smiled amused as the Insane all knelt before him.

Grail then made her entrance sneering at the group of Insane. "This is my daughter, Grail. She will be your new commander. Nothing has changed between us. Any disrespect or insubordination towards her will be seen as if it were done to me. I must warn you though. Her temper far exceeds my own," Darkseid said to them.

"Yes, my Lord," King Mon replied submissively.

"It would appear there are several Insane warriors with weapons trained on us," Grail said amused sensing their presence.

"Indeed," Darkseid agreed. His Omega beams danced around the city destroying all of their positions and killing every one of them.

"You're either brave or incredibly foolish to think you can pull a fast one on Lord Darkseid," Grail mocked.

"Bravery comes to nothing in the face of death," Darkseid smiled.

"Yes, my Lord," Kon Mon agreed.

Darkseid and Grail then departed the Insane home world with their fleet of ships leaving King Mon completely humiliated.

King Mon and Queen Rhea went to the pod room filled with young Insane boys. In these pods, their development and strength were accelerated. They were numbered in the thousands and were only a few years away from becoming King Mon's new army. The royal couple came upon their son's pod which was apart from the others.

"My son, my pride and joy," King Mon said upon looking at the sleeping child. "The battle power within you is astonishing."

"You will one day rule the universe and so will your heirs," Queen Rhea smiled.

"Darkseid thinks the Insane will follow his orders without question, but he will fall to us. You will one day be a vicious king," King Mon said confidently.

Queen Rhea noticed a common child close to her son's pod. "Who is this child so close to my son?" she demanded.

"He is Bro, the son of Paragus of the House of Lee," a doctor said to her.

"This nursery is for exceptional children. Explain yourselves," Queen Rhea sneered.

"His abilities far exceed all the other children. We cannot even measure it," the doctor replied.

"You dare to say that this child is on par with my son?" King Mon asked insulted.

"Well, yeah," the doctor replied. "We've tested his battle level several times and came up with the same result. In fact, his level is higher than all the children combined."

"Holy shit," King Mon said stunned.

"He could become an outstanding warrior," the doctor said to King Mon. "He may become a powerful asset to our forces. He could even be the Legendary Super Insane."

"The Super Insane legend is a myth," King Mon said skeptically.

Queen Rhea eyed her husband but did not contradict him.

Paragus entered the throne room to address King Mon. "You sent for me, my king?" he asked.

"Yes, you and your son are to be sent off-world. There, you will conquer the planet, Vompa," King Mon ordered.

"That is an uninhabited planet inhospitable to complex life," Paragus realized. "This is a shit assignment."

"The truth of the matter is that your son's abilities are freakishly high. While here on Planet Mon, he could be detected by Darkseid. I am therefore exiling you so that you can train your son to become the Legendary Super Insane. Then, when you have achieved your mission, you may come back and help us defeat and destroy Darkseid," King Mon said.

"My King, that sounds like bullshit," Paragus doubted. "He is not a threat to Mon."

"You mean, the planet, me, or my son?" King Mon asked confused.

"Yes," Paragus answered.

King Mon blasted Paragus to the floor. "Fucking smart-ass," he said displeased.

"You're jealous that Bro is more powerful than your own son," Paragus accused.

"How dare you?!" Queen Rhea snarled.

"Your son has already departed. If you want to ensure his survival, I would go after him," King Mon smirked.

Paragus gave King Mon a horrified look and raced out.

Vompa-21st Century

Mon instantly teleported himself and Kara to the jungle planet. "You sure this is place?" Kara asked skeptically.

"I never forget all the shit-hole planets we exile our criminals and deviants to," Mon assured her.

"Just find them then," Kara said impatiently.

Mon sensed for two ki signatures and found them close by. Kara rudely sliced through the jungle with her heat vision as they got closer. "Finally, a real fight," Mon anticipated.

"No, I'm done with that broken hax whereby he can match the power level of whoever he fights. That's some bullshit right there," Kara shook her head dismayed.

"Says the ultimate hax of the universe," Mon rolled his eyes. "If you had any tactical sense, you would know how to get around it."

"This is a catch him and bag him operation," Kara ordered. It wasn't long before Kara spotted them with her X-ray vision.

"What the fuck?" Paragus wondered as they came into view. Bro eyed them in wonder not sure what to make of them.

Kara clapped her hands dropping them both instantly and then froze them with her frost breath before they could even attempt to fight back. "These fools are too dangerous to put on the ship to go back to the 31st century. I'm going to just leave them here," Kara decided. She threw down two capsules that unfolded into two sleeping pods.

"You sure these pods can function for a thousand years?" Mon asked skeptically.

"One way to find out," Kara said simply as she programmed them to do just that.

Vompa-31st Century

On a mostly uninhabited jungle world, Mara and Brainiac 5 tore through the vegetation looking for their specimen. The two made small talk about previous adventures until Mara sensed something. Raising her hand, she fired into the jungle blasting apart a tree.

"What is it?" Brainiac 5 asked.

"I thought I saw something," Mara said as she scanned the rainforest with her X-ray vision and used her super-hearing for any kind of movement. Whatever it was, it had found a way to mask its movements and was now gone.

"An Insane man?" Brainiac 5 questioned.

"Don't move," Mara said seriously as she continued to scan the area.

"You've come to study the Insane man. Perhaps, it would be best not to fire into the jungle. It could scare him off," Brainiac 5 advised.

"Security comes first," Mara replied.

"It looks like we're in a nest," Brainiac 5 said of the flattened vegetation.

Mara eyed the ground. "There's more than one of them. The father and son are here."

"They are social creatures," Brainiac 5 allowed.

Mara fired beams of light above her head slicing holes through the thick forest. Mara eyed the forest for her target but saw nothing. "Perhaps, we should press on."

An alien monkey then landed near Mara and began to eat a fruit in her presence. Mara began typing notes of the creature and then drew its appearance on a datapad. The monkey crawled around Mara's frame and appeared on her shoulder. Mara ignored the monkey until it managed to take her datapad out of her hands.

Mara swiped the air within a fraction of a second and gripped the monkey's neck. She then forced the datapad out of its hands. "That's stealing. What would your parents think of that?" Mara mocked. She then turned to see a large colony of monkeys glaring at her, ready to attack.

Mara turned to face the large colony of furious monkeys. "Don't be easy on me, because I won't," she threatened.

The monkey colony attacked her from all sides. Just as Mara was about to blast them all away, she was suddenly swept off her feet and into the air by a large bulky muscular Insane man. The man carried her to the top branches of the forest as the monkeys continued their pursuit.

"Put me down," Mara ordered the Insane man.

As the monkeys quickly approached, the Insane man picked up Mara and gave her a tour of the forest as they evaded the monkey hoard. The Insane man took Mara across various trees, swinging on vines, and through hallowed logs. Eventually, they managed to completely evade the monkeys.

It then started to rain. Mara sighed annoyed as her uniform was getting wet. The Insane man only wore white boots, purple pants, and a fur jacket around his waist. He was bare-chested displaying a great many battle scars. The rain dripped from his muscular physique.

"Stay back. Don't come any closer," Mara warned as she pointed her palm at him.

The Insane man continued to study Mara having never seen a female humanoid before. There was something about Mara that seemed familiar to him. The Insane man invaded her space and then touched her fingers. Mara immediately pulled away from him and kicked him a distance away.

"Get off," she ordered. "Stay away from me, Insane man."

The Insane man ignored her and continued to invade her space as he studied her and took in her scent. "I'm warning you. My father won't take kindly to you. That's close enough," Mara told him off.

The Insane man touched her gloved hand and peeled it off. He then placed his much larger hand up against hers as he recognized her as a fellow Insane. The Insane man then placed his ear closed to her chest and listened to her heartbeat. The Insane man then brought Mara close to his large powerful chest so she could hear his.

"Yes, very nice," Mara said, pulling away from him.

"Very nice," the Insane man repeated.

"So, you can speak? Do you have a name?" Mara asked.

"Bro, Bro-Lee," he said to her and pointed to his chest to emphasize himself.

Mara touched her own chest. "Mara-El."

Bro touched Mara's chin as he looked deeply into her eyes. "Mara," he repeated.

"I'm going back to my camp, and I'm ordering you to come back with me," Mara said to him. Mara then got past his large frame and flew off. Bro leaped off as well and jumped around the trees until he found her camp.

Upon arriving, Mara found another Insane man, a much older man with spiky white hair and a scar down his right eye. Bro entered the scene and immediately frowned upon seeing his father. "I am Paragus-Lee. You must be Mara-El, the daughter of Prince Mon-El."

"I am," Mara replied, not intimidated by him in the slightest.

"Come, Bro-Lee. You must not associate with her kind," Paragus ordered his son.

Bro reluctantly followed his father back into the jungle. Brainiac 5 then took Mara's side. "An eventful morning?" he asked her.

"Very," Mara agreed.

Deep in the jungle, Paragus confronted his son. "You must avoid her. Do not let her see you, do not seek her out," he ordered.

"She means me no harm," Bro protested.

"You don't know them," Paragus said dismissively.

"I've spent time with her," Bro pointed out.

"You may be willing to risk our security but I'm not. That woman is half-Kryptonian," Paragus told him off.

"Why are you threatened by anyone different from you?" Bro asked defiantly.

"She's the daughter of Prince Mon-El, the son of King Mon-El that banished us. It was Prince Mon-El and his bitch wife, Kara Zor-El, that put us in a time capsule and brought us here. You are to stay away from that family," Paragus ordered.

Bro took off in a huff into the forest.

At the camp, Mara worked on a painting of Bro while Brainiac 5 watched. "I estimate that he weighs 136 kilograms and has a height of 185 centimeters," Mara said as she drew him.

"In his base form," Brainiac 5 allowed.

"He has no respect for personal boundaries. He seemed confused at seeing me," Mara observed. "His eyes were focused and intense. I've never seen such...eyes."

"There's much we can learn from an Insane man who has lived entirely in isolation," Brainiac 5 said.

Bro then dropped in unexpectedly. Mara immediately held out her hand to fire on him but hesitated. "Mara," Bro said as he invaded her personal space to touch her hair.

"Yes, hello, Bro-Lee," Mara said politely as he felt around her hair and face.

"I see what you mean about those personal boundaries," Brainiac 5 remarked.

"A complete blank slate," Mara said ambitiously. "I can teach a savage a thing or two. I'll have you singing God Save the Queen in no time."

Inside a tent, Mara gave Bro a power-point presentation on Earth and the Galactic Federation in general. She taught him about animal life, cities, castles, national monuments, and dancing. Upon learning about dancing, Bro tried it out with Mara. It was awkward at first, but Bro managed to get the moves right as Mara uncomfortably kept him at a distance.

Mara then taught Bro about the stars and the solar system he was presently in. With a telescope, Mara showed Bro a comet that could not be seen with the naked eye. Mara then taught Bro how to speak and read in English.

In exchange, Bro led Mara to a place where colorful birds hung out. Mara smiled as she started to classify and draw each of them. At night, Mara held onto Bro and flew him high into the air. As they clutched each other, Mara started to teach Bro how to fly on his own. With Mara keeping a loose hold, Bro started to understand how to use his ki to float in the air for a limited period.

Mara continued to teach Bro day after day everything about civilization. Once she was satisfied with Bro's education, Mara propositioned Bro to come back to Earth with her. "You are to come with me to Earth," Mara ordered.

"I go to Earth today, back here tomorrow," Bro agreed.

"No, you won't be coming back here," Mara shut him down.

"Not come back?" Bro questioned.

"You belong with people, with me," Mara told him.

"Mara must stay with Bro," Bro counteroffered.

"Stay here? You must be joking. I am a princess. I have nations to oversee, heathens to convert, and I have my father to deal with," Mara told him.

"Mara, stay. Please," Bro beseeched her as he gave her exotic flowers.

"Your destiny lies with me, Bro-Lee. If you don't come with me, I'll blow up the planet with you on it," Mara threatened.

"I'll do it," Bro relented. "But my father must come with me."

"So be it," Mara allowed.

Bro led Mara and Brainiac 5 through the jungle until they reached Paragus' hut. Upon seeing them, he immediately became enraged and charged them. "No!" Bro shouted as he took hold of him. The two fought furiously until Bro placed Paragus into a headlock. Bro eventually took Paragus to the ground, dominating him with raw strength. After subduing him, Bro released him, stunned by what he had done.

"Father, I'm sorry," he said apologetically.

"You betrayed me, Bro-Lee. You betrayed the entire Insane race," Paragus accused.

Bro then followed Mara and Brainiac 5 back to the ship leaving Paragus behind.

The three of them took a Charon shuttle off the planet and into space. Bro stared out the window completely amazed at what he was seeing. The shuttle entered the docking bay of a Hades cruiser. Upon entering the ship, Mara suddenly motioned for Brainiac 5 drones to seize Bro and place a metal collar around his neck that would violently shock him should he attempt to power up or attack in any way. She then placed him in the brig.

"Your father was abusive to you. It's time to cut him off," Mara told him.

Bro struggled against his collar and was shocked repeatedly, dropping him to the floor. "It's no use. Your ki circulatory system is your weakness. Once disrupted, you become harmless," Mara told him.

"You can't leave the father in his current state," Brainiac 5 said to Mara.

"I'll deal with him personally," Mara promised him.

Mara went down to the surface and easily found Paragus. She fired a beam of light near him that blinded him. She then fired beams of light that struck his midsection keeping him still. Paragus struggled against the binds eventually freeing himself. Mara blasted him to the ground and fired off rings that went around his legs, arms, and throat. Paragus gasped for breath as he was being suffocated by the energy ring around his neck.

"You're going to convert to the true faith or you're going to die," Mara told him.

"Bitch, please. As soon as I let you baptize me, you'll blow off my head," Paragus said knowingly.

"Am I that transparent?" Mara wondered. "Bro-Lee is now mine. Whether I make him a consort or a mere bodyguard, there's no place for you. You're an Insane heathen. My parents were unwise to have brought you to this time with him. As far as I am concerned, you should already be dead."

"My son will come for me," Paragus predicted.

"I have made the proper precautions. Now, agree to baptism or I'll put you to the question," Mara said darkly.

"Do your worst," Paragus spat.

Mara fired a beam through his chest and out the other side. Immediately, Paragus' right lung collapsed. Paragus began to breathe painfully as pressure began to mount inside his chest. Mara waited patiently to see if he would relent.

Inside the Hades cruiser, Bro sensed his father's pain and fading life force. In his rage, he tore off the neck collar and powered up. Inside the ship, Bro ripped through several decks causing massive explosions throughout the entire cruiser. Eventually, Bro exited the cruiser as it exploded in space. The thousands of drones working on the ship were destroyed in an instant. Bro then descended down toward the planet and went straight for Mara and his father.

Mara turned to see a green aura approaching her at an alarming speed. Bro landed on a hilltop overlooking them and started powering up with a rage-filled expression on his face. Pulses of green energy roared around Bro as his eyes became a crazed yellow. Mara went into a fighting stance but was unconcerned with Bro's current level of power. Bro then flew straight at Mara where they met in the air at the fist. Mara broke off from Bro, rotated around him, and went for a punch to the chest. Bro blocked her and punched back at her. Mara blocked but the force of the blow knocked her off-balance and towards the ground. Mara flew back up at Bro, flipped in the air as she gave him a kick, and then exchanged a series of punches and kicks with him.

Bro got a good sidekick on Mara and another punch to the gut forcing Mara to retreat back. She fired several energy blasts at him which he easily blocked. Bro then fired his own green energy shots that all missed. Each green shot hit the trees causing roaring forest fires. Mara evaded Bro's fire, flew towards him as she blocked his shots, but was suddenly punched to the face. Stunned, Mara was thrown into a mountain hill creating an instant crater. Bro followed up on his attack by flying into the crater and punching Mara through it. Bro then completely destroyed the mountain hill in a flash of green light.

Mara steadied herself in the air and realized Bro's power level was too much for her in her base form. Undeterred, she powered up to Super Insane giving her a 50x multiplier. A golden aura flashed around her, her hair became blond, and her eyes went blue. Confident she could handle him now, she sped around him and engaged in hit-and-run attacks. The two dodged each other's energy attacks and matched each other's speed. Mara soon discovered that Bro could take a punch and that his power level was rapidly rising to meet her own. Bro brutally punched Mara hard to the face and aggressively kept after her. He hit her to the gut with an energy blast, zipped behind her, and slammed her down to the ground creating a crater that blasted the jungle forest away on impact.

Mara grunted in pain as she got back to her feet, but Bro was already on her. She did a flip and kicked him away from her and got back into her fighting stance. Bro shouted in rage as he increased his power to her level and then launched at her. Mara concentrated as she powered up to full-powered Super Insane giving her a 4x multiplier. Mara caught Bro's punch and allowed him to go past her where he slammed into the ground. Enraged, Bro got back up and charged her shouting as he did. Mara and Bro clasped hands as they tried to overpower each other.

"You have a lot to learn about true power," Mara told him. "I've had my fair of enemies that have all fallen to my hands. You need not be one of them. You can stop fighting me. It's futile."

Bro shouted in rage at this and unlocked from her. He punched her to the face grazing her cheek. Mara took hold of his arm and slammed him to the ground with enough force that the ground buckled. Mara floated in the air as Bro powered up to match her level. The two clashed at the fist and then Mara hit Bro several times with combinations to the chest and side while dodging all of Bro's wide swings. Bro eventually punched her back and matched her speed and punching power. Mara powered up an orb in her hand to throw at him. Bro caught her fist causing the energy sphere to explode in her hand, grabbed her boot, swung her around over his head repeatedly, and then slammed her violently against the ground buckling it. Mara cried out in pain and shock as she was swung repeatedly to the ground back to front. Bro then took hold of Mara's neck and slammed her face up against a cliff wall until he ran out of cliff and then threw her up into the air.

Mara fell to the ground with a thud completely stunned. Her body shuddered in pain as she attempted to recover from the beating she was experiencing. Mara struggled to get back to her feet. She tore off her ruined jacket revealing her plain t-shirt underneath and powered up to Super Insane 2. With a scream of effort, static electricity sparked and danced around her frame. With her power level multiplied 2x, Mara got a few punches on Bro before he adapted to her. Within seconds, Bro matched her power and began to fight back at the same intensity. Bro grabbed Mara's foot and tossed her around as before. He then slammed on top of her and punched her repeatedly on the ground. Mara blasted him into the air. The two fired beams at each other that exploded between them. The two punched at each other repeatedly until Bro slammed Mara through the crust of the planet and into a magma chamber. Inside the magma, the two continued to fight until Mara managed to throw Bro back above ground. The ground exploded underneath as the pressure of the magma chamber was released.

As Mara rose to the surface Bro was ready for her with a city-wide aura of power on top of her. The crust of the planet erupted and liquified as lava exploded into the air. Volcanic eruptions occurred all over the planet roasting the vegetation instantly. Mara punched at Bro's midsection while dodging all of his swings. Taking the fight seriously now, Mara blasted Bro to the chest for a kill shot. Bro was flung into a mountain creating a crater, but he quickly recovered. He launched himself at Mara and the two fought with punches and kicks in the air until Bro slammed Mara into a deep crater. Upon landing, he continued to punch at her repeatedly non-stop. Mara finally cupped one of his punches and blasted him with heat vision that sliced into his right shoulder. Mara then blasted Bro into a mountainside with heat vision that severely burned both of his arms.

Enraged, Bro threw pieces of rock at Mara as a distraction. As she dodged them, Bro stomped her into the ground. Mara emerged a distance away having tunneled under the ground. Bro sensed her movements, grabbed her boot as she came up, and threw her into the forest knocking down several trees upon impact. Bro then charged her into the forest. Mara quickly recovered and used both fists into Bro's gut to send him up into the air. As Bro spun in the air, Mara hit him with her right and then her left. Bro turned around to face her and the two collided in a powerful explosion that rattled the ground. The two hit the ground from different directions from the impact. Mara got back on her feet and punched Bro to the back sending him through two mountain tops. She then stomped him into the ground. From the air, Mara fired heat vision into the crater she had made. As she tried to actually kill him, she intensified her heat vision until it went through the planet and out the other side. Bro flew out of the crater and punched Mara to the face sending her heat vision beams slicing through several mountains in the process.

Mara landed on the ground and dodged Bro as he tried to slam into her. The two clashed and rolled on the ground, punching each other as they did. Mara finally blasted Bro with heat vision and kicked him to the gut off of her. Mara then grabbed his boot and slammed him repeatedly into the ground as she spun in the air. She then released him with perfect timing allowing Bro to crash into a mountain cliff. Bro instantly came back with a vengeance. Mara fired heat vision on him, but it wasn't enough. Bro punched her solidly and then stomped on her as she dragged across the ground. He picked up Mara off the ground and slammed her back on his knee nearly breaking her. Mara cried out in pain, blasted Bro to the face with heat vision, and then punched him away.

Before Mara could recover from her back injury, Bro was already on her. The two clashed with punches to each other at the same time forcing them back away. Mara dodged Bro's slam and took to the air wondering what to do. Bro cried out in rage as he powered up to meet her level. Mara and Bro clashed in midair at the fist sending them both spinning in opposite directions.

"I'm going to finish this," Mara said resolved as she went into space and absorbed the solar radiation of the nearby star. Upon being rejuvenated, Mara powered up her golden aura and allowed static electricity to dance around her frame. As she absorbed more sunlight, the static electricity became like lightning in intensity. She then shot down towards the surface for another round.

As she came down, Bro flew up to meet her, still filled with rage. Mara slammed him down to the ground and then gave him a solid uppercut. As she increased her speed beyond his, she punched him across the planet's terrain like a pinball machine. Before Bro could steady himself, Mara was already there to punch him again. Mara kept this up for several strikes until she slammed Bro into a rock formation. With him implanted in the rock, Mara went for a killer strike with her knife-hand. Bro caught her hand just in time by grabbing her arm and then clutching her neck with his other hand. Unable to free herself, Mara blasted Bro to the face with heat vision. Bro turned her around, so she was up against the rock and the two punched at each other as they tried to slam each other into the rock. Mara blasted Bro to the face once more with heat vision and then threw him into the air.

Mara kicked Bro towards outer space and then used her heat vision to help him reach escape velocity. Bro immediately found himself spinning helplessly in space, still pissed off. Mara then gave Bro a solid kick to keep his momentum going. At this, Mara figured she had won. There was no way that Insane man could survive in space outside an atmosphere. A few seconds later, Mara saw a flash of green light as Bro had formed a forcefield around himself and was flying straight for her. Bro came back at rapid speed and punched Mara in the gut.

Freaked out by his power and resiliency, Mara tried to escape from him in the planetary atmosphere. Bro caught up to her and the two punched and blasted each other in the air. Mara gave Bro several combination punches and kept it up as they flew across the planet. Bro eventually caught her punch and then punched her brutally in the face. The two continued to fight even as Bro kept a good hold of Mara's right arm. Eventually, they crashed into the ground.

"How the hell do I stop him?" Mara wondered, dazed and confused. She powered down injured and exhausted. She felt blood from her hairline and every part of her body ached. She then sensed a familiar presence nearby as she turned her head in the opposite direction.

Bro gave a roar of rage as he powered up with his green aura. Mara frowned incredulously as he was still in his base form. Bro went after Mara and gave her a solid beat down as she lowered her guard. Bro punched her in quick succession to the midsection and then blasted her several times. After each series of hits, Mara closed her eyes and meditated. Finally, Mon teleported next to Bro's position and kicked him to the back of the head. Bro fell to the ground knocked out.

Mon powered down from Super Insane and eyed his fallen daughter. "Take one," he said, giving her a green bean. Mara got back to her feet and took the bean. Immediately, her injuries disappeared, and she stopped bleeding.

"How?" Mara asked surprised.

"His power level rises and falls depending on his opponent. When your power level fell to nothing, his did as well. That gave me an opening for a strike," Mon explained.

"He must have a limit," Mara said dismayed.

"None that we have found," Mon said annoyed. "Looking to get engaged?" he mocked.

"That wasn't my intention," Mara said embarrassed.

"Oh, really? Insane females choose their mates by fighting them until they yield. It looks like he wasn't looking to yield," Mon said dryly.

"I was merely testing to see if he would be suitable as a royal bodyguard," Mara downplayed. "As you can see, he can't control his rage or power. He's no use to us."

"Very well," Mon said as he powered up an energy sphere in his palm to kill Bro.

Mara hesitated as Mon was about to give the prone Bro a kill shot. "No...I can...fix him."

"You sound like your mother," Mon rolled his eyes as he evaporated the energy sphere.

Bro eventually awoke befuddled and found his father resting next to a tree. Paragus was still struggling to breathe from the hole in his chest. "Father, forgive me," Bro said sorrowfully.

"No, forgive me for doubting you. You have always been one of us, an Insane. My son...," Paragus said and then passed out.

Bro embraced his father with tears in his eyes. Mon cautiously approached Bro while Mara remained in the background a good distance away. "This will heal him," Mon said and then handed Bro a bean.

Bro gave Mon an apprehensive look but then nodded. He gave the bean to his father and immediately his wound was healed.

A few hours later, Mara shut down her camp and prepared to leave. Bro emerged from the forest with a calm expression on his face. "All of my battles will appear small compared to you," Mara said dryly.

"I will miss you, Mara," Bro said sincerely.

"Mara, let's go," Mon said impatiently.

"I know. I'm coming," Mara replied. "Well...I suppose we should say goodbye."

Instead of shaking hands, Bro and Mara placed their palms together. "Goodbye," Bro said softly.

Mara then went back to her father. "I can't help but think you should stay," Mon said knowingly.

"I belong on Earth. I have responsibilities there. People rely on me. I couldn't possibly stay any longer," Mara denied.

"Yeah, but they're human so who gives a fuck? He is an Insane man. You should get to know him," Mon pressed.

"He'll kill me for sure," Mara said anxiously.

"I'll be here with you," Mon assured her.

Mara sighed and awkwardly went back to Bro. "You need...more training. I have some meditation techniques that could help."

"Thank you, Mara," Bro smiled.

Mara looked up at Bro's boyish face and felt positively smitten by him despite the severe beating. "Well...shall we begin?" Bro nodded and the two sat down across from each other in mediation stances.
