Nya POV: Jay and I were sitting on the ground after I cried for a while. He kept an arm around and I leaned into him. Cole and Lloyd were close by, but Lloyd was pacing a bit from how worried he was. Cole was trying to stay strong, like Jay, but they both were equally worried. I could tell just from their expressions. I won't say anything since they're trying really hard, but I hope that Zane and Pixal will come out soon to tell us everything. We all need it. It took him around half an hour Zane finally walked out alone. Jay and I jumped up as Cole and Lloyd went over to him. And despite wanting answers about Kai I couldn't help but wonder where Pixal is. Probably still with Kai.
"How is he? Is he going to be okay?" Lloyd asked, beating me to it.
Zane sighed a little and answered, "He will recover after some time. As long as he gets rest and we keep an eye on his wounds to prevent infection."
We all sighed in relief and I asked, "Can we see him now?"
"At the moment I would prefer we wait until he wakes up. In case something else appears, I'm sorry." Zane stated, his gaze not wavering from mine.
I wasn't a fan of that answer, and I'm sure that it was obvious. Though I guess I can understand what he was saying. Besides, after everything that just happened, Kai deserves some peace and quiet.
I sighed and said, "Alright, I get it. How long will that be?"
"I predict that he should wake up in a couple of hours." Zane seemed to relax when I changed the topic. Plus, I liked this answer a lot better than the previous one.
"What about his pain? And his injuries, what exactly happened?" Cole finally asked the real question.
But that's when Zane looked away, like he wasn't sure about what to say. Jay and Cole also shared a look that made things even more suspicious. All of that filled me with a new sense of dread, but I waited for his answer.
Finally he started talking again. "At this point, I can't answer that question."
"What do you mean?" Lloyd asked, almost whispering as he also had some dread in his voice.
Zane took a breath and continued. "While it was clear that Kai received an intense beating, there are some that are peculiar. I have attempted to find anything that could cause some of his… more severe injuries. However, I haven't been able to find anything close to matching."
"...Oh." Was all I could say.
The two mentioned that Kai's arms got the worst of it and that they didn't know anything, but I didn't think that Zane wouldn't have any idea either. That's not exactly comforting.
"But something had to have caused them, right?" Cole said, pulling me out of my dread.
"Of course. Pixal is returning to the building to see if she can find anything. Until then, all we can do is wait." Zane responded. That answers that question.
"Well, she won't leave any stone unturned. That's for sure." Jay said, pulling me close again.
I know that he was trying to comfort me, but I was still too antsy. I really wanted to see my brother despite knowing that he needs to rest. I wish that there was something I could do in the meantime, but there wasn't anything to do except wait. I just hope that we don't have to wait for long.

Pixal POV: After leaving the Bounty it didn't take me long to return to the warehouse. Dr. Borg and the police had it isolated for the time being in order to search it in case the criminals left something behind. They haven't started, but I made sure that Dr. Borg knew that I was going to do my own search. He understood and informed the police, they also understood and allowed me to come without anyone else being there. I had the building to myself.
I thought that maybe things would be disturbed a bit when I arrived. However, it seems like they only just secured the scene. That should make things easier for me.
I walked inside and took a good look at the inside. I didn't notice before, but it was mostly empty. There were no machines or equipment. There were only a couple of boxes here and there. They clearly weren't planning on remaining here for long. Perhaps once they finished with Kai they were going to leave.
Since there wasn't anything on the ground floor I moved the search to the second floor. There, in the closet room, I found what appears to be an office space with a desk and a cot with a simple blanket and pillow on it. There were papers scattered everywhere, not to mention a dent in the wall near the door. Whoever did this wasn't happy.
I cleaned up the papers to go through them, and I was a little shocked by what they were. They all had information about the network Dr. Borg created for the ninja and I. However, it was public information, easily found on the official website. There was nothing more specific, or damaging in any way. Perhaps this is what they were after, the network itself. They attacked the museum as a way to gain the attention of the ninja as a ploy in order to capture one of them. Kai happened to be the unlucky one.
I sighed and put the papers back on the desk. This might explain what their plan was, it still doesn't explain his wounds. But perhaps they were feeling the pressure of a tight timeframe and increased the level of torture in order to get their answers. The thought alone made me uncomfortable, though I had to continue the search.
I left the room and went into the next one, but it was a simple bedroom. There was nothing relevant there. It was probably only used for a sleeping space. I just closed the door without going in. However, I felt uneasy as I saw the next room had its door open. Cole and Jay did mention that Kai had left the room he was in. Meaning this is the room he was tortured in.
I took a small breath and looked in, only to be filled with immense shock. There was a chair thrown across the far side of the room. In the middle was a small pool of partially dried blood in the middle, with large blood-covered chains hanging from the walls. Not to mention the computer sitting on the table in the corner.
I hesitated before walking in, towards the computer first. However, it was locked, but Zane and I can work on it later. Next was the chains…
I walked over to one and took one of them into my hands. I recognized that these chains were what Dr. Borg used for nindroid creation. They were made to be able to handle intense heat, but they weren't safe to touch because they could burn someone…
I turned to look at the blood on the ground, and how it was perfectly in between both the hanging chains. Like something, or someone, was on display for their methods. There was simply nothing else they could have used them for…
The answer was too obvious.
