Kai POV: I focused so much on trying to pull myself together as we walked back, so much that I didn't notice that we got there until I heard the door opening. I looked up and blinked. Why was that so much faster than before?

"Alright, let's get you back in bed." She was being gentle, and I slowly nodded.

With her and Lloyd hovering over me I managed to get on it. Again this was harder than before, but I guess that made some more sense than walking back. And the both of them stayed close and helped me adjust until I was completely on and slightly comfortable. All while Zane was getting some stuff together, and when he was ready Lloyd moved more towards the end of the bed. But he stayed as close as he could.

"Okay, Kai, I am going to remove your shirt and bandages now. Please inform me if there is any pain that becomes too much." He said, and I nodded. With Nya placing her hand on my shoulder for comfort.

I tried to help and move my arm back until the numb, cold pain stopped me. I groaned and Nya squeezed my shoulder while Zane took my arm. He was careful as I had to take a few deep breaths. I really wish that I could remember what happened right now. Because none of this makes sense, and just one look on all of their faces is telling me that they're not going to answer my questions. Though I let it go for now.

I nodded at Zane to continue and he took over. And, thankfully, he was being a lot more gentle than I was. It also helped that he only removed the part that covered my shoulder. But as he started to remove the bandage the pain became more sharp. But I didn't say anything and took a peak when he finished. It was definitely a stab wound, wasn't the first one I've had, but this one was weird. It was almost like the person aimed down as they got me. And now it was slightly bleeding again. Meaning that it must be deep. I'm even more confused than ever. Though, no one else said anything and Zane applied more medicine on it before wrapping it again. Which helped with the pain.

I sighed and Nya asked, "How are you doing?"

I looked at her as I answered, "I'm fine, just tired."

She seemed a little relieved that mixed with a touch of disbelief. But Lloyd beat her to it, "Does that mean you're in pain right now?"

I glared at him before rolling my eyes. Though I didn't say anything because he wasn't exactly wrong. The only thing about that was Zane speaking up. "Kai, if you are in pain I can provide you with something."

"I'll be fine. I'm just tired." Not to mention how much I hate taking painkillers. I've heard nothing but horror stories about people getting addicted. That's not something that I want for myself. It was a dumb thing to worry about, I know. That's why I haven't said anything to the others.

Which is why Nya sighed heavily before saying, "Seriously Kai, it would help you relax so much."

"Same with sleep." I responded, but then my arms started burning sharply and I cringed from the pain.

That stopped the conversation and Zane gently held my back until I could relax before he continued. "It appears that we will need to clean your other injuries once we return."

"What do you mean return?" The moment I asked that they all got the look that definitely means they forgot to tell me something.

"Um, well, we all thought that you would be more comfortable if we went back to the Monastery for your recovery. Instead of being stuck on the Bounty." Lloyd explained, rubbing his neck sheepishly.

"Ah, that's a really good idea. And I'm guessing it wasn't Jay's idea." I joked, and Lloyd chuckled while Nya rolled her eyes.

I would have continued, but I was getting more and more tired. Which Zane must have noticed since he continued. "Before you get some rest I have one more question for you."

"Alright, what is it?" I leaned back against the pillows, waiting on him.

"How much do you recall of the incident?" He asked, which dropped the mood of the room. But I couldn't answer him right away.

Mostly because, like I said before, I really don't remember anything past the museum. I think I kind of remember hitting my head, and maybe something hurting my arms. But nothing else and it was starting to get on my nerves. Plus, all the looks they've been sharing since I first said that makes me think that something bad happened. Which isn't making me feel any better.

I shook my head a little and answered him. "All I remember was going after the robbers. I think something hit my head after I got them. But nothing other than that. Sorry."

No one seemed comfortable with that, but Nya just spoke up. "You don't need to apologize for anything. Though, can you promise to tell us once you do? Please." The way she almost pleaded with me as she asked that.

I nodded and she gently gave me a side hug. I leaned into her and really felt my exhaustion hit me hard. Which led to Zane saying, "Now we'll let you get some more rest. We'll return once we arrive to move you to your room."

Nya and I pulled away, and I nodded again. She and Zane helped me lay back. Lloyd also commented, "Don't worry about a thing, Kai. We've got you."

I wanted to respond, but I was fading fast. All I could do was nod as I closed my eyes. And let the comfortable darkness take over.

Lloyd POV: Kai was completely out the moment he closed his eyes and almost immediately started softly snoring. That made me even more concerned than ever, with how he crashed so fast on the way back. I was going to ask Zane about it as we left the room, but Nya beat me to it.

"Is he really alright?" Her own concern was so clear in her voice.

He gently closed the door before he answered her. "I do believe so. Most likely he got a burst of adrenaline that helped him to move which wore off. Leaving him exhausted and weak, as well as allowing his pain to become more apparent."

I guess that made sense, and also sounds just like Kai too. I sighed and asked another question. "Is that going to happen again?"

"I do not believe so. But I will keep a closer eye in the meantime, just to be safe." He answered, and Nya and I shared a look. Since we both know that isn't the only reason he decided that.

We started walking back when Pixal came down. Zane told us that she went back to investigate, so maybe she had some more answers for us. We walked up to each other and she started the conversation.

"Has Kai woken up yet?" Was her first question.

"He has, but he has already gone back to sleep due to an adrenaline rush. However, his memory of everything isn't there at the moment." Zane explained. Which, for some reason, made her visibly uncomfortable.

"I see. That could be the result of a head trauma he received when they first took him." She theorized, but her discomfort was still there.

"Pixal, is everything okay? Did you find something?" Nya addressed it for us.

However, she didn't answer right away. Instead, she rubbed her hands together and wouldn't meet any of our eyes until Zane spoke up. "Please Pixal. It would help to hear about whatever you found."

She finally looked up and it was clear that she wasn't sure about that. But she sighed a little and said, "I did find something that could have caused his arm injuries. However, it is just a guess on my part. I could be wrong, though I don't believe that I am."

That statement gave me so much dread in the pit of my stomach. When I looked at her, Nya had the same look. But she also clearly wanted to hear what Pixal found, just like me.

Zane simply said, "Guess or not, I do believe that we need to hear it. So please, what did you find?"

Again, she hesitated before she continued. "I found two chains attached to the walls in the room where they kept him. Chains that were covered in Kai's blood, I confirmed it was his on the scene."

Now I was confused. "So, they used the chains to hold him up?"

She shook her head, confused both Nya and I, and continued. "These chains are the same ones the Dr. Borg used for nindroid production. The criminals must have found them laying around."

"You don't think…" Zane started to say before trailing off. And Pixal nodded to confirm what he was thinking. But I still didn't understand.

"What? What do these chains have to do with anything?" Nya asked, in the same boat as me.

Zane, now with a sad look on his face, turned to answer our question. "Nya, Lloyd, those specific chains are capable of reaching intense levels of heat. Up to a point where they can cause massive burns and damage."

I didn't get it at first, but Nya did. She went pale and Zane had to hold her shoulders when she swayed a little. Though she stayed upright thankfully. I was going to ask again what that had to do with anything. But then it clicked. They used the chains on him. They used them to burn Kai, until he was bleeding…

They knocked him out, beat on him, stabbed him, and that still wasn't enough for them. They had to burn him so badly that it led to this. How could anyone even think to do something like this?
