Digital world (Quadrant 2)
"So what have you guys been doing all this time?" Takato asked.
"Truth be told with all of you here I'd like to make a request." Renamon asked.
"You're making a request for us." Henry said. "That's a first."
"What is it?" Jeri asked.
"Do you guys mind if we have this decision tomorrow, I'd like to spend some time with Rika alone." Renamon said.
The rest of the kids smiled then said, "Sure."
"We should turn in for the night anyway." Takato said getting up. "And I guess you and Renamon don't mind taking the first shift for night watch."
"Not at all, it will be like old times." Rika said brushing some of the dust off of her pants. "Like old times."
"The best times, you mean." Renamon corrected.
Takato, Henry and Davis then played rock, paper, scissors for the other tent since the girls would use one for themselves. Henry and Davis went into the tent with Veemon while Jeri took Gotamon to the other one and Takato unrolled the sleeping bag. As the light went on Rika and Renamon talked about how things went when they parted ways.
"So Takato moved away." Renamon said, looking back at Takato sleeping like a log. "Did you use the chance to tell him."
Rika looked away with a bit of a blush on her face and said, "No I didn't, I got angry at him for lying to us about the date he would be leaving. Also how did you find out?"
"Please Rika, he was the only one you would talk about when we were battling the d-reaper and I saw that you started opening more to him then anyone else." Renamon explained. "Expect me of course."
Rika smiled loving the fact that she was able to talk to Renamon again then thought of something and asked, "Do you happen to know where some of the other digimon are?"
"I'll have to answer that question tomorrow." Renamon said. "You know I'm not a fan of repeating myself when it comes to questions."
"That's true." Rika said. "I've missed you Renamon."
"And I've missed you Rika." Renamon said wrapping her tail around Rika seniesing she was cold.
"Looks like our link is starting to come back." Rika said.
"Good, I've missed hearing your thoughts." Renamon said.
"Me too." Rika said as she leaned on Renamon.
Renamon then felt Rika's mind grow quiet then saw that she had fallen asleep. Renamon then laid Rika's head in her lap while her tail still covered part of her.
"You can come out now Veemon." Renamon growled.
"Still able to know when others are close." Veemon said coming out of the shadows made by the tent.
"When I want to protect something it helps to know who or what's around." Renamon said. "And keep that loud voice of yours down. I don't know if their heavy sleeps like they were before."
"You seem to care a lot about them." Veemon said. "You don't seem like the Renamon I met all those years ago."
"Like your one to talk." Renamon said. "What happened to the scared digimon that begged me to help it leave this place."
Veemon looked down at the ground and immediately knew what Renamon meant.
"Looks like you're still too scared to go back to the village." Renamon said, placing a hand on Rika's forehead.
"Oh yeah what about you, what's your excuse for not returning to yours." Veenmon said, trying to control his voice.
"I was at one point scared to go back but now I know that there's at least one person who will stay by my side no matter what, she even went so far as to come for me." Renamon said. "Speaking of which, why did they come now of all times?"
"Right we haven't told you that yet." Veenmon said. "An enemy has come to the human world that requires the powers of the Tamers and the Digidestined."
"I see, but I'm happy all the same." Renamon said. "For I get to see Rika again. Also you should know we might end up at my village with where we're going."
"Then I'll use it as a chance to see if you've meant what you said about not fearing your home anymore." Veemon said going back into his tent to sleep.
The rest of the night passed by without a digimon or data stream in sight. When the morning came Takato asked Renamon about the other digimon.
"I know the direction that Guilmon went, I also know that Lopmon and Terrirmon went with him." Renamon explained. "As for the others I don't know, they left before I realized it."
"Well that's at least better than nothing." Henry said breaking down one of the tents.
"So then Renamon if you would be so kind." Takato said putting the last of their things in the bags.
"Follow me." Renamon said walking away.
They started following Renamon through the dust looking for the rest of the digimon.
Real world (Odaiba)
Kari got up from bed and looked around for Gotamon only to remember that she went with Davis to the digital world. She then got ready for school and left the apartment after eating a quick breakfast. On her way to school she felt a little lonely without Gatomon around her and her friends noticed.
"Don't worry Kari I'm sure they won't be gone for much longer." T.K. said coming closer.
"Plus from what Gennai has told us the Tamers can take care of themselves." Yolei said, placing an arm around Kari's back.
"I know you guys, it just feels weird not having her around." Kari said sadly. "Feels almost like I've lost something."
"Guess that's how the Tamers felt when they lost their partners." T.K. said.
"Hey you guys have to remember that each one of them chose to become a tamer so they knew what they were getting into, so just have faith." Patamon said from inside T.K. backpack.
"Patamon's right, we should trust them." Yolei said. "Now come on class is going to start soon."
Kari followed after her friends, knowing that they were right, there was no way Davis and Veemon couldn't protect the Tamers until they get their partners back. As Kari walked off a black van parked it's self across the street from the school.
"You think that's them?" a women asked rolling the back seat window down.
"Well not like Kazu's information was perfect, considering he kept demanding we let him come with us." another women said. "I'm just glad his mother showed up and dragged him out of the building."
"Good point. Now lets call Yamaki and tell him we might have found the school at least." one of the women suggested.
"Got it, Riley" the other women agreed.
Digital world (Quadrant 2)
"Davis I swear if we get out of this I'm going to kill you myself." Rika said as the Gazimon tied them up.
"Hey how is this my fault, I told Veemon not to do anything." Davis said.
"They were the ones asking for a fight." Veemon stated.
"You didn't have to go along with it and we could have walked right past." Renamon said as a Gazimon tried to touch Renamon's tail. "Touch me and your data will be my midnight snack."
"Hopefully Takato and Henry can come up with a way to get us out of this." Gotamon said as another Gazimon finished tying her up to a rock.
Jeri then heard the sound of a D-Arc going off. Rika then had Renamon use her tail that they forgot to tie up to grab her D-Arc from her hip. As Rika looked at the compass she saw that another type of digimon was coming. Renamon then looked in the direction of the arrow and saw a face that gave her a bit of joy.
"Looks like it's not a complete loss, that we ended up tied up to these rocks." Rika said looking at the picture that came up on her D-Arc.
"Why do you say that, another digimon is coming who knows if it's going to help us?" Veemon questioned.
"One our digvices allow us to get data on any digimon our digimon partners are looking at, and two the digimon coming towards us is one we were looking for." Rika said as Renamon hid Rika's D-arc in her tail fur.
"Which one is it?" Gatomon asked. "Please tell me it's Henry's of Takato's. We could use other digimons help in this."
"It's Dino boy." Rika answered. "Or by his real name Guilmon, Takato's partner."
