Ugin the Spirit Dragon felt something. A planeswalker had arrived on Tarkir, but from where, and why he could not say. He decided to investigate. The dragon left his lair, and began his search in the stormy night.

He glided close to the ground looking for the interloper. He soon found small human tracks. It looked like whoever it was was trying to run badly. As he followed the tracks The dragon found the body that the tracks belonged to.

Ugin was surprised. A person lay crumpled on the ground soaked from the rain, and unconscious. As The spirit dragon looked closer he could tell that this person was nothing but a small child, and she must be the planeswalker. Looking at her clothing there was no way that she came from Tarkir

Lowering himself to the ground he gently touched the tiny form.

"Hey little one, wake up." There was no response. The dragon slowly picked her up in his hand, and looked closer. She was quite young with long snowy white hair dressed in a teal rather fancy dress that was about the same color as his own scales. She was still alive, but she was chilled to the bone and shivering. Ugin was curious about this child, but knew that she needed healing so he returned to his lair, taking this new child with him.

Once back in the lair Ugin used magic to make a small fire to get her warmed up. He also used his knowledge to make some tea that would also help with the chills, and the fever that she also seemed to have. As Ugin gently moved her closer to the fire the child stirred. She tried to speak, but only a weak sound came out.

"Please help," she said, then her body was racked by coughing. Ugin felt the need to comfort her. The dragon very gently took a finger, and stroked her face. Speaking aloud as well as into her mind soothingly: "It's alright you're safe now." As the cough subsided she closed her eyes, falling unconscious once again. Ugin decided that rest was the best thing for her right now, but as he returned to his meditations he kept a close eye on her just in case she needed him again.

I didn't know how much time had passed, but I opened up my eyes, and looked around. I was now in a large room with a fire close by that was warm. I remembered someone stroking my head telling me that things were okay, but I had no idea who. I sat up feeling a bit dizzy as I moved. As my eyes adjusted to the light I saw a dragon looking at me. He was blue-green in color, and glowed from within. Rather than finding this scary I found it soothing. I tried to speak, but I could not speak clearly, as my voice was choked up. The dragon spoke: "Here, drink this. It will help you feel better," as a small wooden cup of tea floated toward me. I reached for the cup, and took a long sip. The warmth of the tea and the sweetness coated my throat and soothed the ache. After a moment I tried to speak again. "Where am I and who might you be?" The dragon smiled gently.

"I am Ugin the Spirit dragon, and this is my home Tarkir."

"Tarkir, where is that? How did I get here?" My head began to swim with confusion. Ugin gently spoke: "You planeswalked here."

"Planeswalked?" I asked.

"Yes, it is when a living being goes from one world to another." I said nothing trying to process this. It made sense I had felt as though something had swept me from one place to another, but why I did not know.

"Why did this happen?" I asked

Ugin looked at me.

"Well usually when something traumatic happens to a person sometimes a spark ignites within them that enables them to become a planeswalker. Did something traumatic happen to you?" The dragon asked.

I shivered remembering the events that brought me here.

"Yes," I said, wincing at the memory.

"I see," Ugin said softly. "I must say though that you are the youngest planeswalker that I have ever met, and I have been alive for a very long time," he paused. "You never said your name, little one." I looked up at Ugin, and slowly with my bad right leg stood up, and bowed to the dragon.

"My name is Serenity."

"Serenity," Ugin said softly. "Yes, that name suits you." I sat back down, more like fell down. Ugin noticed my leg. "Is that an injury that you got coming here?"

"No, I have had it since birth. My eyes don't work that well either," I said wanting to be honest with the dragon that I hoped was my friend. "Where I come from, people like me are usually killed at a young age. They don't allow people that are considered to be broken like me to live long, but the umm man who I called master kept me around for reasons." I was not quite ready to tell Ugin everything, not yet anyway.

Ugin nodded,

"I see. Well I do not see you as broken, I see you as someone that could use a friend." I nodded, and managed a smile.

"Thank you," I said with relief sweeping over me. I asked, "What is going to happen to me now?"

"Well that choice is up to you what do you want to do?" I had never been asked that question before.

"I don't know do I have any choices?" Ugin nodded.

"You could one, let me help you go back to your home plane." I shook my head NO hard to that. Ugin continued. "Two, I could teach you how to planeswalk, and you can travel the multiverse alone." I did not like that one either. "Three, you could stay here on Tarkir with me to learn about Tarkir, magic, and the multiverse as a whole." I thought about this. I liked this option. I liked Ugin, and I loved to learn so this seemed to be the best option for me.

"I choose the third option," I said. "I want to stay, and learn with you." Ugin smiled.

"Good decision."

"Are you hungry?" Ugin asked and I suddenly realized that yes I was so I nodded. The dragon started to stand up. "Here I will get you some food."

Suddenly, I was terrified I did not want him to leave me here alone. Without thinking in my panic I stumbled to my feet and grabbed Ugin's hand, tears of panic filling my eyes.

"Please don't leave me here." The dragon looked down at me.

"Alright I wont leave hold on a moment," a moment later a dragon that looked like Ugin appeared as a mist. He said something to the creature that I could not understand, and it flew off.

Suddenly I felt ashamed.

"I, I, am sorry," I stammered. Ugin regarded me and nodded.

"I don't know what happened, and I will not press you, but I do hope that you will come to trust me, but I understand and will not leave your side." I looked at him grateful.

"Thanks for understanding," I said softly. Ugin nodded.

"Well while we wait for your dinner let's start with this world Tarkir." I limped over to him, and sat next to him as he once again rested laying on the ground like a cat and he began to tell me about my new home Tarkir.

Ugin told me that Tarkir was his soul's home; it was the place he had made a home when he had become a planeswalker. He told me that this world was full of other dragons besides himself that he mediated over when there was conflict. He told me that this lair that he called home was for a long time a tomb. He told me of the five dragons that also ruled here along with their brood, as well as the humans that coexisted with them. He promised that I would meet them all someday. He also told that in a way the dragons were all of his children. Not by blood, but by magic. I admitted that I did not understand, but Ugin told me that I would when I saw it.

His lesson was interrupted by The misty dragon returning with food. He had found some eggs, as well as berries and nuts. Ugin with a wave of his clawed hand cast a spell that cooked the eggs as well as restarted the fire. I peeled the eggs, and ate them. I savored the taste, it was quite good to eat, as were the berries, and nuts. Much better than the gruel that I was given back in the castle.

Ugin interrupted my thoughts.

"When you are finished you should rest. It is getting late and I am sure that you need more time to recover." I nodded yawning. "Okay." Ugin smiled As I settled down, curling up near the fire, suddenly feeling very sleepy. "Thank you Ugin."

"Your welcome Serenity." After a moment I fell into a deep restful sleep.

I watched her sleep soundly. She seemed so peaceful now, hardly the child that I had found a mere few hours before. She was an interesting one, definitely the youngest planeswalker that I had ever met, but as I thought about it I realized that she was kind of perfect. I always thought that most planeswalkers of today were far too rash and did not act in the best interest of the multiverse, but here I had a chance to change that. This child was young, teachable and it seemed like she was willing to learn. All I had to do was show her kindness, which was something that I was more than happy to give her.

"Well little Serenity," I whispered. "It seems that you will be useful for both of us."
