After our wonderful sunrise, Ugin and I hunted our own breakfast, stopping to pick berries as we made our way back home to the lair. Once home we ate, and Ugin began to talk to me about magic.

"I know from your memories that you know magic, but can you explain this song's magic a bit better to me?" Ugin asked.

"I don't really understand it. I don't know anyone else that has it," I replied, "but the master used it to help keep his spirits alive and well, but I do remember that it could also heal things, but I don't know if I can do that anymore,"

"I think that you can," Ugin said. "I do not know much about music, but I do know magic, and spells are just that, spells. It is up to the wielder on how to cast them." I nodded. "Can You try to show me?" Ugin asked. I nodded, and stood up. I began to sing, but I did not sing the songs that my master taught me. I began to sing one of the songs that I remembered from when I was a child. It had no words, just a melody, but as I sang my hands began to glow, but not the purple light of the songs of my master it was the same color as Ugin, a blue green light that spread forth touching Ugin. Seeing this I stopped in panic.

"Ugin I am sooo sorry I had no idea that would happen."

Ugin said: "I am fine, but that magic of yours I have never seen before. His voice was in awe. "Please show me again?"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes," Ugin said. I nodded, and began to sing again. The melody filled the room echoing slightly. The glow reached out to Ugin, and swirled around him Ugin touched the magic, As my song came to an end.

I looked up at Ugin who still held a sliver of magic in his hand.

"Your magic is so pure and so beautiful, unlike anything I have witnessed before. Thank you Serenity for letting me see your true magic." I nodded.

"You are welcome. Are you alright?" I asked

" Yes indeed I am," he replied. "Take a look here," Ugin pointed to some vines that had made their way into the side of the lair. They now had flowers on them. "Your songs bring life and healing," he said. "It is far more powerful than even my best healing spells," Ugin added. I nodded happily that he was not hurt because of me. "This magic is indeed very powerful, but I want you to learn other spells as well so I will teach you the traditional way if you are willing to learn," Ugin said.

"I am," I replied.

"Good," Ugin said.

He began to teach me traditional magic. It was a bit hard to do without an arcane focus, but Ugin said that he would make one for me. Even so, magic was fairly easy for me to cast, and Ugin seemed pleased by this. We practiced until the sun began to set. When we stopped I found that I was very tired.

"You're not used to casting magic this way," Ugin explained, "it will take time for you to get used to it. the arcane focus will also help." I nodded, hugging his arm, leaning against him a little.

Ugin then sent his scion dragon to get dinner. As we waited I sat next to him now watching the sunset.

"I have a question. If I come up with different songs would the magic change?"

"Hmmmmmm," Ugin said thoughtfully. "I am not sure, but that is something that you can try if you want."

"I kind of want to, but I am afraid. What if I hurt you?"

"Don't worry you won't hurt me, I promise you that," Ugin said. " Let's try it tomorrow," he added. I nodded a bit nervous, but also excited to sing again, and see what magic I could do with my voice.

Soon food arrived, and we ate Ugin, eating a few berries though they were so tiny for him.

After dinner that night Ugin lay down to show me the stars above, pointing out several constellations, and telling me about their legends. I lay my head on his heart feeling the rhythm of his chest, and breathing. The night was warm, and Ugin felt warm and soothing as well. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Soon I found that I was sleepy.

Ugin sensed this once again, using his hand to make a blanket for me I snuggled against him, and soon began to doze my fingers stroking his scales as I did so.

"MMMMMM that feels nice," Ugin murmured as he too began to meditate. Soon I fell asleep.

Serenity was not like any other I had met before she was young, and an elf so that was good. She fascinated me, and not just for the magic she also was not the least bit afraid of me, and seemed genuinely happy to be with me. Her song had lifted me, and gave me strength, and not just from the magic. It was from her as well. I realized that she had begun to fill a hole that had been in my heart. One that I did not realize that I had. I made her a promise that I would care for her no matter what. That I would protect her from anything that would cause her pain. As I made that solemn vow to her as she slept. I then heard her soft reply in my mind of Sera saying: "Ugin I love you." I could not say it back not yet, but I wanted to. A tear slipped down from my eye. I raised my hand to catch it, and as I did it turned into a solid droplet of my essence. "Ah Her arcane focus," I thought. This will be perfect, but I wanted it to be more so I gave it even more A link between that no matter how far apart we were we could hear one another. That she would also have a piece of my heart with her.

Once I was done I returned to my meditations, as well as just enjoying Serenity sleeping against me.

I heard Ugins vow. In my head, I sent him a thought back that was simple, and to the point.

"I love you Ugin," I said softly, and I knew that it was true. I only hoped that he someday would tell me that as well, but I also knew that as a dragon, it might take more time but at least I knew that he cared, and that made me very happy.
