Chapter 2 : Mother and Child

Chapter Summary : After 5 months in care of Dr. Gorou, Ai's children finally say hello to the world.

"Gorou Sensei is here." The receptionist announced to a man and a girl sitting in the hospital's waiting hall when she spotted him walking in the waiting hall along with the Nurse.

"Sensei!" She called for him and handed him the patient's form. "Here"

The man got up and greeted Gorou and the Nurse. They both greeted him back, "I'll go make a round trip to my patients." The nurse told Gorou. He nodded and she took her leave.

He took a quick glance at the patient's form.

'Miss. Hoshino. 16. From Tokyo. About 20 weeks along? Wait– 16?!' He looked at the girl in question sitting in front of him. She wore a baseball cap that hid her eyes and she really looked pregnant. 'I see. They probably couldn't let anyone know back home and came all the way here. A young one ending up like this is never good news.'

Gorou looked at the man who accompanied her "Are you her Father?"

"On paper, yes. She grew up in an orphanage so I'm only her Guardian" he clarified.

'16 year old who grew up in an orphanage. That sounds familiar. Ai grew up in an orphanage too. I hope she recovers from her health issues soon. Maybe I'll attend her concert sometime. It's been a while–' he mentally slapped himself. 'Not the time. I should focus at the task at hand'

The girl took her cap off and nervously ran her fingers along her long lustrous hair. Her eyes were captivating to look at, they had a shine of their own and she was incredibly cute to look at. Her face was just like Ai's.

'A look-alike?'

"How does it look sensei?" The guardian asked "Is there any possibility that this is a case of Really Bad Constipation?" still in denial.

Gorou caught himself staring at the girl and averted his eyes before they noticed. "If that were the case, she'd be dead by now" he responded nonchalantly.

The girl turned to her guardian and threw him a cheerful thumbs up with a wink. "Don't worry about me! I didn't have any problems today!"

Her voice sounded just like Ai's.

'Wait, Wait, Wait'

The realisation hit him like a truck. He let out a breath and held his composure. "Well, let's go have a look." He led the way to the examination room and opened the door for them. "Please get comfortable. I'll be with you in a moment"

He closed the door and his eyes widened 'WHAT?!'

He paced back and forth in the hallway just outside the room.

"It was her! The real deal!" he talked to himself in disbelief, "How did this happen? She is a popular Idol! She didn't announce anything about it. Wait! THIS WAS HER HEALTH ISSUE?! This will destroy her career! Aa—! This is bad. This is bad–!" He roughed up his hair trying to digest what just happened.

"Will she announce it?! Will she quit being an Idol?! Wait– Who is the father?! She had a boyfriend she kept hidden from the public all this time?!" He had too many questions.

But that would have to wait.

He held the door knob once again and took a deep breath. They were waiting for him. He opened the door and walked in trying to sound as professional as he could be in that moment "Sorry to keep you both waiting"

Ai was on the bed, squirming, bouncing herself, testing the mattress. Her guardian sat on a chair nearby. "Is the bed comfortable?" Gorou asked.

"Yes! Who knew hospital beds were so soft? I could sleep like a baby in here!" The girl was very cheerful.

Her bright nature instantly reminded him of another lively girl in his care a long time ago. It brought out a smile on his face.

He sat down on another chair beside them and took her vitals.

.

"All done. She looks healthy." Gorou put the sphygmomanometer aside and looked at her "Did you have any discomfort at all? Before today?"

"No, Not at all. My guardian here takes really good care of me!" she answered. "But I have been craving certain foods lately" she rubbed her belly "Hunger is discomforting. Does that count?"

He chuckled at that, "No, that's natural." Her guardian had a very serious look on his face. Emanating a polar opposite aura to that of the girl.

"Now let's see what exactly we are dealing with" Gorou got up "You'll have to wait outside while we perform an ultrasound. If you'd follow me sir" He got up and gestured at the man.

"Please call me Saitou" They both walked out.

"Mr. Saitou, please wait here" There were some benches in the hallway and he sat down.

Gorou had left to call the Nurse for assistance, he returned as quickly as he had left. "The examination will be another 40 minutes."

Saitou nodded, sat down and pulled out his phone while he waited anxiously. "What will I ever do with her…"

- x -

Saitou got up the moment he heard the door open. Gorou, Ai and the Nurse walked out of the examination room. "Sensei. How does it look?"

"The results are in, but first–" Gorou looked at Ai. "Let's get you to a comfortable room. Don't put any unnecessary pressure on yourself, okay?" Ai nodded.

Gorou led the way to a vacant hospital room. Ai sat down on the bed. Gorou let them both be comfortable before proceeding.

"About the results" He flipped a page on the report. "She is about 20 weeks pregnant. And she is expecting twins."

"Twins" Both Saitou and Ai said in unison.

"Twins…" Ai said it once more in wonder, her cheeks blushed red.

She didn't look scared or worried at all. Normally this situation would scare anyone her age.

"Ai." Saitou brought her back from her imagination. "Are you sure you want to go through with this?" He sounded worried. "If people found out about you getting pregnant, it would be the end for you, me and our company!"

.

No answer. She looked down at her belly and was in thought for a few moments.

She looked up at Saitou, then at Gorou. "Sensei, What do you think?" He had never heard her voice like this. Solemn. She really was giving it a serious thought.

"It's true that having kids at an early age puts a lot of pressure on the people involved. Being a young parent is never easy. But it's you, who has to think what these kids mean to you and what's important to YOU."

Ai listened to him earnestly.

"It should be your decision. Think carefully before you decide. As a doctor, that's all I can say." She got lost back in her thoughts.

"Ai" Saitou got her attention "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier? How did this happen?! Who's the Father?!"

She looked at him, that serious expression she made was gone in a flash. "I told you! That's a Secret" she winked playfully.

'So she wants to keep that a secret' Gorou got up "I'll leave you guys be. Let me know if you need anything. Or you call the Nurse too"

.

Gorou walked to the waiting hall and grabbed a drink from the vending machine. 'As a doctor, that's all I can say' he repeated those words in his head. 'As a doctor, huh?'

"Are you serious-?" A guy yelled in shock sitting in the hall, watching news on the TV. An Idol recently announced her pregnancy and marriage. "I really liked Miu…" his shock turned to disappointment.

'Do fans really support an Idol who has a child?' He walked his way to the rooftop, sipping his drink. 'Fans tend to be very selfish'

He was a fan too.

The sun had set a while ago, he gazed up at the clear night sky. Stars were out. Always pretty to look at. "Would Sarina have supported her if she was here?"

He smiled to himself. "What am I saying? Of Course she would have."

He finished his drink, watching the twinkling stars standing by the edge of the rooftop with his hands resting on the railings "But if you have children, would you be able to fly as high?"

.

The squeaky door opened behind Gorou. "Oh Sensei"

He turned to see who it was "Miss Hoshino", she looked relieved - happy even, as she walked with a smile. "So you've decided to keep them huh?" He could tell.

"Of Course! They're MY children!" she chirped. She took a deep breath, spreading her arms. "haahh~ I never had a family so I've always wanted one to call my own"

Longing for a family to call your own, he knew how that felt.

He felt the chill wind brushing against his face. Tonight was colder than usual. "The night breeze is not good for your health"

She stepped towards him, putting her hands in the pockets of her jacket. "I'm wearing a couple of layers, so I think I'll be okay"

She stood by the edge of the rooftop beside him and stared up at the night sky with awe in her eyes. "Look at the stars! So~ pretty~"

The way she admired the night sky, Gorou once again found himself admiring her.

"You can hardly see any stars in Tokyo. And it's so quiet too. Tokyo isn't like this at all" Clear sky tonight, all the stars were out twinkling. The night sky was beautiful as ever "I had to come here because my guardian recommended it. But this place is so nice."

"Hmmm–" he nodded absentmindedly, lost in his own thoughts.

Ai caught him staring at her. "mmm?"

"Did you come all the way here because you were afraid the public would find out?" he asked.

"Huh? Oh right, my guardian mentioned that it would affect us, didn't he?"

"I…" he wondered if he should tell her he knew who she was. "I had a patient a while back who was your fan." he decided not to tell her he was a fan. That could make her see him differently.

"Awwww!" She flicked her head, "I thought all the doctors here were old people and no one would recognise me. I guess I can't hide my overflowing aura!" She held her chin up with her thumb and index fingers, giving him a sly smile.

"Looks like I've been caught!" she said playfully with a wink. Even now, she seemed so carefree, so confident.

Gorou still had so many questions. No chance that she will tell him who the father was. That was none of his business anyways. But others, no harm in asking.

"Are you going to quit being an Idol?"

"I won't quit." she said with a straight face without skipping a beat "I love being an Idol!" she looked at her belly and gently put her hand on it. "And I've always wanted a family"

"The one's in my belly. They're twins right?" She gently rubbed her belly. "When I have them, I'm sure they'll be a handful, I'll have to learn a lot about being a mother. But I know we will be a cheerful and happy family!" she looked up at him "I'll give birth to my kids and I'll continue being an Idol"

"You mean–"

She cut him off, and gave him a stern smile. "Yep! It won't be public~!"

She walked away from him, admiring the night sky. "Idols are Ideal Creatures. Creatures who shine from a magic called Lies. If the truth will hurt my fans, then I won't tell them." She turned around and spread her hands like wings.

"I love them after all"

Gorou's inner fan couldn't help but feel those words were for him. The way she stood tall in front of the starry night sky, with her hands behind her back. The moon and the stars lighting up her face. She looked majestic.

"A lie. Is an exceptional form of Love." She proclaimed.

.

'A lie is an exceptional form of love.' Gorou found these words oddly soothing.

All the times he had lied to Sarina 4 years ago. He kept the truth from her, because he felt he had to, that he didn't have any other choice. Even Sarina's final conversation was filled with a bunch of his lies and he hated himself for it.

Ai's words were comforting, "right" he whispered to himself and looked at her.

"A true top-notch Idol like myself, can hide a child or two! We tell Lie after Lie, No matter how tough life may get. On the stage we sing like the happiest of people. That's what it means to be an Idol!" she announced with excitement and pride in her voice.

"But still–" that excitement was gone from her voice. "I want my happiness to be something that is True." she stared at the stars in wonder "No one really realises it, but we have emotions and a life too"

It was painfully obvious now that she said it, on the TV she is always cheery, bright, emanating a cute and uplifting aura. Her fans probably never realised that under all of that, it was just this normal girl. He never thought about it before.

"Being happy as a mother." Ai wondered. "Or being happy as an Idol. Normally, you only get to pick one."

She turned to face him, smiling gleefully with her shining eyes "But I want both. Ai Hoshino is a very greedy girl, you know."

Ai Hoshino was a lot more bold than he could have ever imagined.

She was strong.

She stood in front of him, and shined brighter than the brightest star in the night sky.

This was the idol he admired and supported and he saw a side of her no fan would ever see. Her human side.

'I will support you, as your doctor and as your fan'

"Ai." He called her by her name.

"..." she looked at him.

"I'll make sure you safely give birth to two healthy kids" he told her with resolve.

Her eyes lit up, she wasn't alone. He was there to support her through this. She nodded happily "Thank you Sensei. That means a lot to me."

She was a hopeless Idol. He was her hopeless Fan.

"Should we go back? We can have a discussion with your Guardian." He turned to the door.

She followed him "He is my manager", Gorou knew who she was, might as well clarify that.

"Right" They walked down the stairs, Gorou kept a close eye on her with her each step even though it wasn't necessary yet. "Say, usually women stay at home and visit the hospital during their final week. Do you have a place here?" He asked.

"Uhh– no, Actually. We were thinking we could stay in one of the hospital rooms." she answered. "That bed was so comfy!"

"I see, we always have some rooms vacant. I think that won't be an issue." Gorou led the way back to the hospital's waiting hall.

Saitou was already there sitting on the front bench. He talked on the phone. "...yeah…I'll call you later" He disconnected and stood up when he saw her walking in. "Ai! There you are!" Gorou walked in with her.

"Mr. Saitou. We were just discussing a few things. She told me you were planning to stay in the hospital for the entire term?" Gorou asked.

"Yes, I know it's not the standard procedure but we don't have any place to stay here. Staying in a hotel for 5 months is also out of the question. If it's not too much trouble–" He blabbered explaining their situation.

Ai grabbed his arm. "Um.. Manager" He had told her not to call him that while they were here. "He knows. ehehe!"

"Yeah–" Gorou confirmed.

Saitou turned pale.

"I brought her here because I was sure she wouldn't be recognised here." He grabbed Gorou's wrist tightly.

Sudden change in Saitou's behaviour made him a little nervous. "A patient of mine long ago was her fan, so I knew who she was" he explained.

Even though they were protected by the hospital privacy laws. He couldn't take that risk. Cat's out of the bag and this could be a huge problem.

"Who else knows?"

"Uh.. There's a nurse who knows but I don't think anyone else would find out if we are careful."

'Careful? He wont run to the news outlets with this huge of a scoop?' Saitou was confused but relieved, he let his hand go. "Sorry about that"

"It's okay" Gorou rubbed his wrist.

"So I don't have to explain why we can't be seen out in public. We would like to keep this in the hospital."

"I understand. So, first things first. Let's use an alias in the hospital. Her last name isn't public, so Miss Hoshino works just fine, but we can never be too careful" Gorou pulled out an empty patient's form from the reception and handed it to Saitou.

"Right" he nodded and filled it. "Eh– let's go with–"

"Hana" Ai said "No one will ever recognise me with that name!"

"That's fine I guess" Saitou wrote it down and filled in other details. Once he was done, he gave it to Gorou.

"Alright Miss. Hana. That room you were in earlier is actually vacant as of now. So why don't you go and get comfortable. You remember where it was?" She nodded yes.

He turned to Saitou. "As for you, there's a guest room on the same floor at the end of the hall. I'll finish up the formalities here."

He nodded and they both bowed. "Thank you sensei. I don't know what I would have done without your help."

"Just doing my job" he turned to sit down at the reception. The info still had to be entered in the database.

"Sensei!" Ai's cheerful voice got his attention "Goodnight!" She waved.

"Goodnight" he said and watched them both walk away.

- x -

Gorou was in the hospital very early the next day. In the patient's room that once was Sarina's, all the Idol merch and DVD's were on full display on the shelf and on the TV.

He picked all the Idol related things and carefully locked them in a drawer.

There was little chance Ai would see them since she stayed in a different room but he didn't want to take any chances.

All done just in time for his shift.

He strolled in the main hall of the hospital, the Nurse was there by the reception desk, flipping through her patients reports.

"Good morning Nurse" Gorou greeted as he walked up to her.

"Goodmorning, you're here early. Let me guess, you couldn't stay away from your dear Idol, could you?"

"That's not it" Gorou denied it. "And don't talk about her like that, we don't want people finding out", there were not many people around to overhear them this early in the morning.

"So she is staying under an Alias? Makes sense." she agreed.

"Yes. It's Miss Hana. Also…" he joined his hands in request. "Please don't tell her I'm a fan!"

"Huh? Why not? I think she will be delighted to know her BIGGEST fan is her doctor. You might even get an autograph" she teased.

"In her eyes I just want to be her doctor. If she finds out, she would be uncomfortable" He rubbed the back of his neck.

She shook her head sideways in disappointment. "So you are afraid she would find a different doctor if she finds out?"

She had known him well over the past years she had worked with him. He was a skilled doctor who cared deeply for his patients. But his behaviour recently has been quite questionable.

He stared at her with pleading eyes and his hands still joined. She sighed in defeat. "Alright, Fine. But if I see you being a creep even for one second. I will have someone else attend her."

"That's fine by me. I want to keep our relationship a professional one while she is here." Gorou was relieved it didn't take her much convincing. "Once she leaves the hospital and goes back to being an Idol. I'll go back to being her fan"

"What– did you say back to being an Idol?" The Nurse questioned. "She won't quit?"

"Apparently not. She is quite stubborn"

.

They both walked along the hallway on the way to their patients one by one. Top of the list was Ai. Gorou knocked on the door.

"Come In!" Ai's voice emanated from the room.

Gorou opened the door and found her sitting on the bed, talking to her manager, who was on a chair beside her. "Good Morning"

Everyone exchanged pleasantries.

"Mr. Saitou, She is the nurse I told you about yesterday." Gorou gestured to the Nurse beside him. "The other person who knows who she is"

Saitou remembered her, "We met yesterday. You knew who she was then? Why didn't you say something?"

"Excuse me" she bowed, "I like to keep things professional at work."

They both were more trustworthy than he had thought. Saitou bowed in gratitude. "I am forever in your debt, I don't know what I would have done without you both"

"Just doing our jobs" she smiled and turned to Ai. "How are you feeling today Miss…" she flipped through some pages to find her report. "Hana?"

"Absolutely great!" she was cheerful as always "I woke up early but I feel well rested."

"That sounds great. Any discomfort at all?" Nurse asked.

"Not at all. I feel Great!" she chirped.

Nurse continued her talk with Ai, telling her general do's and don'ts while in her second trimester. And what she can expect to experience during her pregnancy.

Ai listened to every word with utmost importance.

- x -

It had been a few weeks since Ai showed up at the Hospital. Gorou had been coming in early ever since.

He wandered around outside the hospital after learning Ai was out for a walk. There was a large open space for people to get fresh air. Green grass and trees around like a jogging park, it was a refreshing place for morning walks.

He found Ai strolling along the wide walkway between the trees.

"Hello! Miss Hana!" He called her from a distance and paced up to catch up to her.

She turned back upon hearing her name. "Sensei!" she waved with a smile.

He jogged to catch up to her. "Out on a walk? Mind if I join you?"

"Of course not. I'd love to have some company" she got both her hands behind her back and strolled without a care in the world.

Everything she did emanated this strong and confident aura. He couldn't help but feel happy whenever he was around her. "Do you like the country life so far?"

"It's so peaceful here" she closed her eyes as if to listen to her surroundings. "But I miss Tokyo. My friends, My favourite restaurants, My Idol group, My fans. Everyones there."

"Of course"

.

"Do you mind if I ask you something?" He turned his head to look at her as they walked.

"...?"

"Wouldn't taking such a long break affect your career? Even after the delivery, It will take you a few months before you are recovered for performing."

She thought for a moment "It might. But don't you think my fans would be eager to see me perform after so long?"

'I would…' Gorou's inner fan thought.

It's been 3 months since her disappearance. Hype around her didn't die at all, her fans wished for her speedy recovery everyday all over social media. But who knows how things will be 6 months from now.

"I don't know, I have heard how these breaks affect Idol's careers, so I was wondering." he said.

"I'll just work extra hard once I'm all better!" The thought of being obscure didn't scare her at all. She looked up at the clear blue sky and wondered "I'll have to balance my time between work and my kids. It won't be easy, but I know I can do it!"

"If we consider your quick return as an Idol, there's an option for painless delivery." Gorou said "Or we can go with caesarean section. That won't affect your bone structure."

"I'm okay either way. I'm super healthy." she said.

.

They walked back to the hospital, back to her room and she carefully sat down on the bed.

"You are entering your third trimester right? Did you have a talk with the Nurse about it?" He looked at her belly.

"I haven't yet" she replied.

"Hmm…" Gorou thought for a moment. She had a small body, naturally. "Now that I think about it. Natural birth could prove dangerous for you."

"Huh? I'll be fine sensei. You don't need to worry so much"

The door opened "You both are here." Saitou walked in.

"Mr. Saitou. I was just discussing some things with her." Saitou sat on the bed beside Ai. "There's a high chance we will have to perform a Caesarean section on her if the babies' skulls are too big."

He turned to address Ai, "With your body type, it's common to not have enough opening for a skull that size."

Saitou was concerned "But, that would leave a scar on her stomach"

"No worries. I can handle a natural birth" Ai assured them both. "I mean, They're MY kids, I'm sure they'll be beauties with a small face!" she winked with her hands on her cheeks.

Saitou gave her a disappointed look "Again, with your senseless comments"

Gorou chuckled, "I'm sure your children will be amazing" he commented "but think about it. It's a real possibility. We don't want any complications after all."

Gorou was serious, Saitou was serious. Ai daydreamed about what her children would look like.

She patted Saitou on the back. "Relax, I told you I can handle a natural birth!" she said in her cheerful voice.

He was not convinced and was lost in deep thought. "Natural birth would be very taxing on her body, C-section would leave a scar on her belly." he talked to himself.

.

"Well, take your time and weigh the options. We still have time." Gorou said, before leaving the room.

- x -

It was a sunny afternoon. Ai, Saitou and Gorou were out for a stroll outside the hospital.

Ai was singing one of her songs and moved her body along the melody as she walked. Gorou had never seen a woman 35 weeks in pregnancy so… carefree, just enjoying herself. There was never a hint of stress or nervousness during her time at the hospital.

Gorou asked Saitou as they walked together behind Ai. "You haven't decided on it yet? It's been weeks now"

Saitou sighed "I don't know which is worse. It would take longer for her to recover from a Natural birth. Her absence for so long might make her irrelevant. But a scar on her stomach would be equally as bad. If that's seen, it won't take long for people to spread rumours. Both ways, her career is at risk."

"You could always make a statement that she got a surgery because of her health issue. You won't even be lying" Gorou suggested.

"That won't help. As someone in the entertainment industry for over a decade, let me tell you. Idols need to be perfect. A surgery scar on her belly, if discovered, would cause major problems for her image." He took his glasses off and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Not to mention that would significantly reduce the costumes she can wear"

They watched Ai dancing carefreely to her own singing.

Saitou continued "And she is hell bent on having her children naturally…" He sighed loudly "I give up" He looked at the doctor "If she wants a Natural birth, I can only trust you sensei."

Gorou gave him a reassuring smile "Don't you worry. I will make sure she delivers her children safely and she recovers quickly."

Saitou nodded.

They both listened to Ai sing as they walked.

Gorou had visited tokyo to attend B-komachi's live concerts before, in contrast her voice was a lot softer without all the effects. In contrast, her dancing was just random hand movements. Yet, it was all mesmerising.

'Soon, this will be over. And I will lose this connection with Ai. We will go back to being an idol and a fan' Gorou became quite fond of her in the 4 short months she was there. He got to see the side of hers no fan would ever see. And he admired how strong she was.

He was a fan of the Idol Ai, and in these short 4 months, he became a fan of her real self.

'I support her happiness, from the bottom of my heart' he smiled to himself.

- x -

The weeks flew by, and finally -

Any time now, Ai's beautiful children would say hello to the world.

The Nurse was with Ai, she has been assisting her for the past few days, and she never left her side for more than 10 minutes. The due date was here and Ai could go into labour any minute now.

Ai was on the bed, clearly in discomfort.

"Just relax Miss Hana" Nurse comforted her.

She took a few deep breaths "You can call me by my name, no one else is in the room"

It was late at night, most of the hospital staff had gone home.

Gorou entered the room "How are you feeling Ai?"

She gave him a faint smile.

"We are past the due date so, she could go into labour any time now" The nurse said.

"Right–"

"Sensei" Ai looked up at him "Thank you for everything you have done."

He smiled, for the past few days he checked up on her every hour, even overstayed his shift. He was just as nervous as Ai, if not more.

"If I call for you, please come running" she requested.

"I will, I live close by, I can run back to the hospital in 15 minutes." he assured her. "Even If I'm not here, there are other doctors who can take care of you."

Her face told him she didn't like the idea of some other doctor attending her very much. "No, I want you to help me, Sensei."

"Alright" He gave her a reassuring smile, "I'll go have a quick dinner and run back here then"

.

With his hands in the pockets of his coat, he walked towards his home. The street lights lit the road outside the hospital but most of the way his home was dark. His shift ended a while ago, and as tired as he was, he couldn't say no to his favourite Idol's request. He didn't want to either.

"Hey!" A man in a hoodie called out for him. Gorou turned. "...?"

"Are you the doctor in charge of Hoshino Ai?"

Her name isn't public. The world knew her as Ai. Just Ai.

"Are you a relative of hers?" He asked calmly.

"So you are the one." He said ominously.

Not a relative.

"How did you know she was here? Have you seen her around the hospital?" Gorou got defensive. He tried to get a better look at the guy. The street lights lit his face just enough. He was a young man, barely 20.

"What's your name?!" Gorou yelled.

He dashed off into the woods. Gorou chased after him. "Hey! Wait!"

'Is he a stalker? Damnit, does he know? If he leaks anything to the public that will be a disaster. I can't let him get away!'

Gorou chased his trail with the faint light of his phone's flashlight.

He reached a cliff and caught himself before he fell.

Dead end.

"Dammit! Where did he go!" He looked left and right for any signs of the guy.

Nothing.

"Maybe I should just go back. I'll notify Mr. Saitou and the police. Hopefully–"

"ARRGHH–!" Someone tackled him down the cliff.

.

.

Gorou hit his head hard on the way down.

Multiple broken bones, his arms, his legs, ribs. His head was bleeding profusely. He felt his heart pounding against his chest.

"Arghhh…" he was in pain.

He could barely keep his eyes open. His whole body was in shock and he could barely breathe.

.

'What happened..'

.

'I can't move my body…'

.

'It's dark…'

.

'Where's my phone?...'

.

'I need to go back…'

.

'Ai needs me…'

.

'I promised…'

.

'I need to…'

.

'I need to…go…'

.

He couldn't feel his body. His spine had broken from the fall.

His breathing slowed, His eyes closed. 'I …'

- x -

Gorou heard someone breathe heavily. He heard the shrill sound of a child crying right next to him.

He slowly opened his eyes. But could barely keep them open.

His vision was fuzzy.

A woman held him tightly, he was very close to her face. He could barely make out the facial features. Took him a few seconds to realise who it was.

.

It was Ai!

.

'I made it?' he thought 'why does she look so.. huge? What's going on?'

His body felt so different. Like he barely had any control over himself. His limbs were soft and he couldn't properly move them. He was wrapped up in a soft cloth as if he was a baby.

.

He was a baby!

He tried to say something but no sound came out of his mouth.

The newborn's delicate body was, naturally, not developed enough for anything.

He was confused.

He was tired.

He looked up at Ai, her lips moved to say something. But he couldn't make out the words.

She hugged both her children lovingly.

.

The warmth.

.

All his body wanted to do right now was to sleep.
